Technical details + a bit more info under the cut 👌🏾
background info.
Honest to heaven, I just wanted to draw something cute, and switch my brain off for a few hours.
This started off with Hot Rod collecting seaglass, but then somehow, Skywarp ended up in the drawing. So, I scribbled out different poses.

story.
I usually have some scenario in my head for my artwork, but this time, nothing concrete comes to mind pspsp. Did come up with two options:
1) The other adults tricked Ultra Magnus into taking charge of the local Scouts group, and during a nature walk, Skywarp and Hot Rod snuck off
OR
2) Skywarp and Hot Rod got kicked outside and are now trying to find fun elsewhere pspspspps

technical stuff.
This is entirely gouache— though it's a little watered down.
It's difficult to erase carbon paper marks. Likewise, you really shouldn't be erasing on watercolour paper period (you risk damaging the texture/paper, which can affect the way the paint behaves).
So, I just coloured in the linework as is.
In some areas, I used a micron 0.05 pen, and drybrushed on some gouache lineart straight from the tube.
I forgot some details (despite the fact I was staring at a reference :'D): both of Hot Rod’s wings and Skywarp’s other wing are MIA.
Hot Rod's colour scheme was meant to be more orangey, but, I saw his helm was more of a rosey colour and tried to compensate accordingly.
The lighter purple on Skywarp is too light imo; a consequence of me watering down the colour I used for his helm ;w;
For SW's cockpit, I used a non-watered-down vers. of the orange I used for Hot Rod’s legs. I think it contrasts too much, but it’s also grown on me.
The little red dots (flowers) ... I sort of panicked when I tried to remove them, hence the splotchy-ness in some areas. Whoops.
Still need to practice with skies; the right hand portion is very, very dark. But hey, at least I got what I was going for on the left side of the sky! :]
Very in love with the far off trees in the bg.
