Any hcs/potential scenarios where Felix and Livia marry? (Only thing I know for sure is that it's going to be a fail!marriage lol)
hmmm, the failmarriage (lite) (as in not with Coriolanus), let us see what thoughts can I shake loose!
I actually have a hard time imagining how these two get to the point of marrying each other as in my hcs, their families aren't going to push for it... I could see them both gaslighting themselves into thinking that they should marry though!
(Warning: I imagine that they become a dysfunctional household!)
They Get Married
Going off that, imagine everyone within an acceptable age range to marry has married except these two. They're both from influential families. Felix reluctantly brings these facts to Livia's attention. She rejects his marriage-business proposal.
Livia, after thinking about it and realizing that Felix is right, everyone else is married, decides that fine, she'll marry him and tells him publicly by yelling at him across a social gathering/party.
The media have a field day saying that they're secret lovers or secret lovers reconciling with a declaration of love. (some people hit the nail on the head and write that the two are getting married as the last single people of their generation <- oof... even the marriage of convenience people didn't want them... let's be nice and maybe they aren't looking "beneath their station" for a potential partner... "let's be nice" -> they get married because of classism 😔)
The wedding is a fucking nightmare from the planning side. Livia is... a terror of a bride. She may not like her groom, but as consolation, she is getting everything just the way she wants it, exactly the way she wants it.
Felix doesn't really have cold feet, but he does break down crying at one point, wondering why he's doing this. He tries to play it off as tears of joy. A lot of people can tell that isn't the case.
They argue in whispers that everyone can hear during the document signing ceremony (Capitol marriages in my mind focus on the signing)
It only goes down hill from there.
Also they're probably pretending to be in love to their families. (the weird cognitive dissonance that Felix has of doing this for his family in his mind but also knowing he has to pretend to love Livia to get them to go through with it... uh that's just my trademark Ravinstills are bad at communicating -isms)
They start a food fight during the cake cutting when they both smush cake into the other's face. (Felix purposefully gets some on Livia's white dress).
Any and all speeches from friends are just thinly veiled questions asking why the two are doing this.
The Marriage
After their marriage, there's a honeymoon period of a few years, and for them, that means they hate each other so bad. They're constantly insulting each other/finding ways to one up each other! It's a terrible time, but you know what's there? Passion!
They are trading insults! They are screaming at each other! A nightmare for their neighbors! A dream come true for the tabloids!
Honestly, they both probably get into actual physical fights... which isn't a great look for both of them
After a few years of that, their marriage loses any and all interest to each other. Livia's obviously the stronger personality in my mind. She's trying to keep that hate alive! She's trying to make this marriage work (keep this marriage interesting)!
Unfortunately, I think Felix takes a page out of his great-uncle's book and just starts mentally checking out.
Livia and Felix are both romantics in my head. They both didn't want a marriage of convenience (they both could have had love matches in my headcanons lol), but Felix is used to being sad and feeling unwanted in a big house so he's just carrying on. Livia is better at staying mad at the situation, but with nothing to play off of, her heart can't fully be in it... She can only insult him halfheartedly
Very important to note, that their families either think this is a normal marriage (Max/President Ravinstill, given his whole Dr. Gaul situation), are concerned but everyone else is just saying it's normal? (Ravinstill cousins), and "that's just Livia's strong personality! :)" (the Cardews) <- they don't want to dim her sparkle
The Kid(s)
Since Livia can't take joy out of tormenting Felix anymore, obviously, they have kids or a kid. I imagine they take what they get from the first (and only) pregnancy. (You know how couples try to fix their relationship with a kid. This is that, but with a hateful relationship.)
I'll say kid for the rest of the post but you can imagine them with Ravinstill-Cardew twins, triplets, quadruplets? whatever you want
They're the Ravinstill-Cardews because with a Ravinstill president, I imagine Livia's parents convince her that any kids should have a hyphenated name with Ravinstill taking precedence, but Felix and Livia keep their respective surnames without hyphenation.
I think Ravinstill-Cardew baby does ignite that passion for a bit as they argue about raising their child, but it's short-lived
As the child grows up, Livia probably tries to jab at Felix with it. Any perceived negative traits are because Felix is the father. Felix probably starts getting mad at this once the child is old enough to remember, but it's actually 50/50 if the insult reaches him. Half the time, he's just like "yes, dear..."
(even if he hates her (formerly hates her and has now given up), Livia is unknowingly benefiting from Ravinstill Enabler-ism. Many such cases of Ravinstills just being enablers in my mind)
I think, because of this, the kid actively strives for Livia's approval and affection which she is better at giving openly and also because it is clearly something to be won (Felix is more distant... very President Ravinstill/Max-esque)
On the other hand, I do think if the kid has a problem/is in trouble, they'll go to Felix. I just think he'd be better at problem-solving things for them.
Felix is looking at his own child like "ah, of course they only want me for my name/what I can do for them." Resentment would manifest in being distant, but he's already doing that so...
I do think that if push came to shove, these two would move mountains for their kid, but their parenting is far from ideal
tl;dr is that the Ravinstill-Cardew child does not have the best upbringing. Maybe they prefer going over to one of their parents' friends places, or Livia's brother (who exists in my hc). Maybe someone can suggest divorce. Please.
...
Thanks for the ask, anon! This got kind of long!
#lots of imagining livia screaming at kid when they're a teen while felix is just man standing emoji in the corner#50/50 if when dragged into the argument if he'll back the kid or livia actually... enablerism is too strong. he tells the kid#“some fights aren't worth fighting” when he's supporting livia. livia screams at him now#abyssal stuff#ask response#anon ask#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#felix ravinstill#livia cardew#felix/livia#felix/livia marriage au#tbosas#ravindew#<-?#maximinius ravinstill#domestic violence#<- just to be safe#abuse#<- also just to be safe#au headcanons#???#i need a tag for these

Letter from Princess Victoria of Hesse to her brother Ernie, written when she, Irena and Ella were in Switzerland in 1882.
"My dear Erny, l am going to send You a long letter about all we have been doing here, these 2 days — we leave to-morrow morning for Milan. Yesterday we went right round the Lake Vierwaldstatter See, You know — in a large steam-boat. There were not many people on board, as the season is rather over. We started at 10 got to Fluhelen, the end of the lake at about 1, had some luncheon & then came back. It was very nice. The mountains are very fine — many already covered with snow & the scenery keeps changing as the boat turns. We went on the upper deck & sketched, walked about & looked at the people. There was a very tiny, dirty Professor & his tall, lanky wife — she had a red nose read her Badecker out, loud, like prayers at church, & ended by marching her poor little husband up & down deck hanging over him, arm in arm. Then there was what Irene calls a honeymoon couple, an ugly but pleasant looking dark girl in a brown newmarket who wrote in a note-book the size of Alix’ hand without the fingers & a little red man who yawned all the time. These got out at Tell’s chapel, a little building on the spot where Tell is supposed to have sprung from the boat. Lastly there was an other couple also English, who quarreled about a Tauchnitz-volume They did not care for the scenery & each wanted the book — of course the wife got the best of it. Today we went up the Rigi in all ease & comfort. By boat to Vitznau, by rail to the Kulm. The engine is small & strong & pushes up one carriage like a tram-car, pulling itself up by a tooth-wheel. It goes very slowly, though a good deal quicker than walking, & takes about % of an hour. You have a beautiful view of the lake & the hills round all the way up. Of course there was a thick fogg at the top. We could not even see the hotel from the station — so we only had some luncheon & came down by the next train. Going down takes longer. The train goes over a deep gully, with a rushing cascade at one place, & often along a precipice. At many places it is as steep as the old Jugenheim road almost. It shakes a good deal. We have been lucky in the weather, especially yesterday, when we had beautiful sunshine going & storm clouds coming back. You can’t imagine the beautiful coloring every-where. The lake is like the green you do the sea some-times & such hills as are covered with beeches are red, yellow, violet, any color You please. | send you two small ink-drawings | have copied from my sketches but as | am doing them by candle-light, | do not know if they will succeed. This afternoon we went to look at Thorwaldsen’s dying lion, just behind the hotel. It is very fine, but | was disappointed about it. The lion looks tame like a dog with the tooth-ache. He is so flat too. Perhaps this came from the light being so dull, that he had no shades at all. Herff is very happy, but would like us to run about all day long every where & have no luncheon besides — he thinks that quite unnecessary & has succeeded with us so far, that we took nothing litterally but soup, bread cheese & wine today on the Rigi. There were two little black Italian’s went up with us & who were very uncomfortable as they got into the mist. Also a young woman & a man in a fez who kissed each other [at] each turn, when they thought no one looking. Our neighbours here are a family consisting of a short fat father, a tall fat mother & 3 very flaxen-haired very, very fat daughters with double chins & no necks, they have a large balcony & come out in pairs hand in hand. They dislike our looking at them much. This hotel is very good. Nice rooms looking on the lake, good food, good beds and grinning waiters. The view from the balcony is be-au-ti-ful, You see | appreciate it. With love from the girls to you & all,
Your loving Vixen"

hi! I hope you're having a lovely day :) feel free to ignore this if you don't want to do more work on tumblr lol, but you seem very knowledgeable about all sorts of historical and touristy things in Portugal, so I figured I'd ask anyway!
I'm going to north Portugal in September on my honeymoon, we're spending 5 days in Porto, then a couple of days near the Douro valley, and then a few days near Manteigas in the Serra da Estrela national park.
me and my husband are both very into museums/art galleries and historic buildings - is there anything in Porto that we absolutely shouldn't miss whilst we're there? is there any particular food we should try? do you have any recommendations for cafes or restaurants to visit?
Hi! Very glad to answer!
Porto is beautiful and I promise you are going to love it, and I admit I'm excited about you going to Serra da Estrela. It's so quiet at that time of the year, all you hear is nature, it's just so peaceful. Also, please try the cheese. Serra da Estrela cheese is a sin, it's so good, and you can go straight to the source there.
In Porto, there is a lot to see, especially if you enjoy museums, monuments and galleries, so I'll list a few things:
Palácio da Bolsa is a must, in my opinion. I believe they have guided tours, if you are interested in that.
Clérigos Church, Hospital and Tower. The view from up there is amazing, but the whole building is rich with history and super interesting, and the church is beautiful.
Porto's Cathedral, which includes the Chapter House and has some amazing artworks inside.
The entire area of the old Borrough of Porto, which is the hill where the Cathedral sits on. That is where the oldest house in Porto is (in Beco dos Redemoinhos, it's about 700 years old), or where the "stairs of the queen" also are, said to have been the stairs taken Countess Teresa on her way to the church that would later become the Cathedral, and the watch tower in front of it.
There are points of interest you might come across as must-sees in Porto but you're better off standing there looking at it cause they're either expensive or they're a McDonalds. The McDonalds building is beautiful, yes. Majestic café is a unique art nouveau building, but it's SO expensive.
On that note, Lello. Lello is interesting and super beautiful, I am not one to discourage people from visiting it. But expect a long line. (it's right next to Clérigos and you can see it from there...). However, you can buy the tickets online (I think they're 5€) and that allows you to skip the line, and if you buy a book, the price of the ticket is deducted from your purchase.
For museums, Soares dos Reis has a lot of art, from painting to sculpture to decorative arts, and it's rich with some of the most important portuguese artists, focused mostly on the circle of Porto, especially from the 19th century.
Porto is known ofr being a vast sea of blue and white tiles. You don't have to look for them, you will just find them. However, Capelinha das Almas and Church of Santo Ildefonso are a good example (Ildefonso stares at Clérigos directly... they were once rivals).
And on THAT note... São Bento Train Station. It is worth it just standing there admiring the architecture and the tiles (keep in mind a lot of these things are stuff you can just include on a long walk)
Some streets... Rua das Flores, or famously Rua de Santa Catarina (where you'll find Majestic and Capelinha das Almas) they're all just very nice walks. Same for Ribeira (the riverside). No plans, just a walk while enjoying the view.
If you are interested in Contemporary Art, Fundação Serralves. At the very least, the gardens are wonderful and they're just a great place to rest and enjoy the afternoon (I think they have cafés there too, but I haven't been there in years, now).
Go on a Douro Valley tour. I cannot emphasise how great these are. You get to visit a handful of cellars, try several wines and enjoy a ride across the Douro. In Porto itself, they also have boat rides across the Douro, some might have wine, I'm not sure, but I find it so much more enriching to do a Douro Valley tour and be able to visit the cellars.
As for food and where to eat, I am not going to give you any restaurant names because I KNOW I have people from Porto who follow me and they can answer that better than I can, but there's 2 things I usually tell people to try in Porto.
One, of course, is Francesinha. It's going to feel like it's a lot. I call it a tower of bread with fibre for days. But try it, because nowhere else in Portugal can they make them as well as they make them in Porto. Besides it's one of the most important hallmarks of Porto culture, and I find that it's a fundamental experience in your journey to try Francesinha. It's like going to Valencia and trying Paella, you just HAVE to.
The other one is a personal opinion and choice of mine because, well, Portugal is known for codfish dishes and my all time favourite codfish dish was born in Porto and it's Bacalhau à Gomes Sá. If I'm not mistaken, it was born on a restaurant that was nearby Ribeira, somewhere in that area, and they actually put up a goddamn plaque celebrating this
Ribeira is the easiest place to find this dish, but it's going to be above average in price (I can guarantee you someone will come into this post to scream that it's a complete theft how expensive it is, but we're just poor and cheapskates, and the restaurants aren't bad. Again, they're going to be above average but not all are ridiculously overprices).
On a final note, if you're interested in doing a walk tour of Porto, there are several companies that do so, but I happen to know a guide who is currently living and working in Porto and I can ask her availability and you guys can agree on something if you're interested. Just let me know!
I hope you have an amazing time!!!!
Anything else, let me know!!
#also try green wine#it's not from Porto it's from Minho but you're close enough to get the good stuff

She was demure and elegant in a flowing gown – he looked dapper and debonair in a tailored navy suit.
So pity the poor bride and groom whose lavish Caribbean nuptials were overshadowed by such glamorous guests.
Then again, if you will invite Prince Harry and his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle to your wedding, what do you expect?
All eyes were on the young lovers as the prince attended the wedding of friend Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip at the weekend in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Not having seen each other for a fortnight, Harry, 32, and 35-year-old Meghan used the trip as an excuse for a romantic reunion – and their affectionate behaviour set tongues wagging that it might not be long before they, too, are walking up the aisle.
For Meghan, the surroundings are not entirely unfamiliar.
In 2011, she married her first husband – film producer Trevor Engleson – at a resort just 60 miles along the coast. So, is she feeling the love second time around?
We reveal exactly what the young couple got up to on their romantic West Indian weekend...
He flies in economy, while she takes a private jet
Harry arrived in Jamaica on Wednesday to join the groom’s party ahead of the big day – he was one of 14 ushers.
The royals don’t use private planes for personal engagements, so he took a Virgin Atlantic flight from Gatwick to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
The prince did splash out on a premium economy seat, costing upwards of £2,000 return.
Meghan flew in the following day from Toronto, where she’s filming US legal drama Suits, in a private jet that belongs to a friend.
Ever the gentleman, Harry picked her up from the airport, greeting her with a kiss before they drove back to the hotel together.
The luxury resort where JFK stayed
With 110 acres of lush tropical gardens, suites designed by Ralph Lauren and its own private bay, the wedding reception venue is the perfect backdrop for royal romance.
The Round Hill Resort was built in the 1950s as a series of luxurious cottages for rich and famous visitors. Guests have included JFK and Jackie Kennedy, who spent their honeymoon here.
Grace Kelly, Fred Astaire, Clark Gable, Sir Paul McCartney, and Emma Watson have also stayed.
A hotel worker revealed that Meghan and Harry stayed in a £5,000-a-night premium luxury villa, the resort’s most exclusive accommodation away from prying eyes, which comes with its own housekeeper, two pools and a games room with a bar and pool table.
Ever watchful of their safety, security guards were stationed in rooms nearby.
Guests have breakfast served on their balcony, and options include Jamaican delicacies such as ackee (a fruit like a lychee), saltfish with fried dumplings and callaloo (a leafy green vegetable).
It’s quite a change from Meghan’s first trip to the island during her low-key wedding in 2011.
She and her husband-to-be stayed at the four-star Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, where they indulged in drinking games and wheelbarrow races before saying their vows.
The (other) very happy couple
It takes a brave bride to invite glamorous, leggy Meghan to your wedding. But flame-haired Lara Hughes-Young didn’t seem bothered about being outshone.
Lara, 30, a software developer at global technology company ThoughtWorks, knows Harry through her new husband ‘Skippy’, who went to Eton with the prince.
She’s the granddaughter of late Conservative MP Michael Hughes-Young.
Her father holds the title Lord St Helens – making her official title the Honourable Lara Inskip.
She is said to have been ‘singing Meghan’s praises’ since meeting her last year.
They may have been the focus of attention on the day, but Megan and Harry were far from the only notable guests at the wedding.
Harry’s aunt Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was on the list, accompanied, insiders say, by her daughter Eugenie.
After the ceremony, a smiling Fergie, wearing a black minidress with a jewelled neck, was seen posing for photographs with Pastor Conrad Thomas, who officiated the ceremony.
Archie Soames, one of the ushers, is the great-grandson of Winston Churchill. Maid of honour Alice St Clair Erskine is an actress who portrayed the Duchess of Cambridge in the 2011 American TV show William and Catherine: A Royal Romance.
Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt is rumoured to have popped in for the party.
Trying not to upstage the bride
For the ceremony, Meghan chose a £1,200 floral print maxi dress by Canadian designer Erdem.
Harry opted for a bespoke navy suit, believed to be from his favourite Savile Row tailor Gieves & Hawkes, and teamed with a yellow rose.
Meghan accessorised her elegant attire with a nude clutch bag and a pair of £249 gold-rimmed sunglasses by Dior to shield her eyes from the hot Jamaican sun.
The bride did her best to stay in the spotlight in a breathtakingly simple white satin gown with a plunging neckline and full, flowing skirt – a direct contrast to Meghan’s high-necked style.
Meghan's tender touch for her prince
Meghan placed a protective arm on Harry’s back as she steered him out of the church and guests say the pair were very tactile throughout the reception as she was introduced to his old friends.
At one point they were seen deep in conversation, as a jacketless Harry drank a beer and Meghan an Aperol spritz cocktail as she continued to rub his back.
Minutes later, she moved even closer, gazing into his eyes and putting her arms around his neck.
‘They are both head over heels and don’t care who sees it,’ said an onlooker.

Munnar Tourism
The Indian state of Kerala has the town of Munnar in the Western Ghats mountain range. A hill station that served as a former retreat for the aristocracy of the British Raj. It is surrounded by undulating hills that are peppered with tea plantations that date back to the late 19th century. Lakkam Waterfalls, trekking routes. And the 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak can all be found in Eravikulam National Park. Which is also the home of the critically endangered Nilgiri tahr.
The endless stretch of tea plantations and undulating hills in Munnar make it appear like a postcard. Many tourists adore Munnar, a fantastic vacation spot in Kerala. It is the most well-liked hill station, and honeymooners, families, and lovers of nature all favor it.
Munnar, which lies in Kerala's Idukki District, is responsible for producing some of the best tea and spices in India. All types of tourists can enjoy a variety of experiences at this must-see location. Getting here might be a wonderful experience as well.
Visit the Eravikulam National Park in Munnar to see the abundant wildlife there as well as the Nilgiri Tahr. Additionally, there is the family-friendly Wonder Valley Adventure and Amusement Park. Learn more about the top hotels, must-do activities, and popular tourist destinations.
Munnar also known as "Kashmir of south India".
