when a certain post calling for the unionization of a certain profession pops up on your dash and a few comments down there's a petition that someone presented as being for just that and it turns out it's for an entirely different category of workers to join a union that already exists and is already recognized and a lot of workers at the company in question are already part of and you want to reblog with a long-winded comment clarifying that it's misleading because it's not what the rest of the post was actually talking about but you just don't have the energy because most people will just mindlessly reblog without fact-checking or reading the notes anyway so what's even the point

#honestly very weird how that petition is being shared as the ''omg marvel artists are finally unionizing!!!'' petition #when it very clearly says it's for production workers (not artists) at wdas (not marvel studios) to join tag (an already-recognized union)#i know people on this website use ''disney'' and ''marvel'' interchangeably but marvel is still separate from wdas/pixar/dtva/etc.#and honestly we need to stop treating all of the corporation's subsidiaries as a monolith if we're going to tackle specific issues #artists who make disney animated films are already unionized! it's the vfx artists for live-action films that don't have a union yet!#lumping them all under ''disney artists'' isn't helpful bc disney can just say ''what do you mean? :) our artists ARE unionized <3''#(plus disney markets its monopoly as One Big Magical Brand and WANTS to be seen as that monolith and i think it's good to say fuck that)#my public diary
