Hello! I hope you’re doing well. I offer a symbolic interpretation on Kaeya’s character design:
I think Kaeya’s outfit and design reflects his conflict of choosing sides👀
As in, his right side is his “dark” side (Khaenri’ah side?): right eye covered by eyepatch and his hair, fur deco that looks a lot like a Cryo Abyss Mage’s rests on his right shoulder.. His sword hand is his right hand but his sword symbolically switches sides depending on which side he supports🤔
And his left side is his “light” side (Mondstadt side?): his vision (visible eye), his Vision (magical gem stone), and his wing-like cape which seem similar to gliders in its design
Ah but then, his wing-like cape only rests on his left side and doesn’t cover his back in full, almost like… a bird (a kid) with a broken wing (abandoned at Daw Winery) who can’t take flight (who can’t return to his homeland nor willing to fully side with Mond) ???
oooo you're onto something there 👀
Considering how hoyoverse designs their characters depending on what culture they're focusing on, there's no doubt that there are a lot of details that they add aside from focusing on trying to be "realistic". (which honestly makes them fun to look at tbh)
more utc.
Anywho onto Kaeya, he does indeed have a style that seems asymmetrical like you pointed out, let me add one thing from the dark side:
There are also spikes at the side of his pants which is pretty interesting. It is also probably a symbolism as well of how he is protecting his dark side, to keep everyone away from knowing more of Khaenri'ah. Since in his voicelines About Kaeya, he mentioned that those who came from that destroyed nation, are deemed sinners, (the eng voiceline didn't mentioned the deemed part; only sinners) there's no reason to mention them again. Which is pretty sad since he said "deemed" which might meant it's not their fault that they were born that way— but then again, Khaenri'ah is known to be the nation that made the monsters that wreak havoc all over Teyvat 500 years ago (i think).
There are a few people who Kaeya trusts and that one person being Diluc— ever since he finally revealed himself as Khaenri'ahn, he was met by a blade and since then, he just pushes people away from knowing more of his origins. Though it's pretty interesting of how Jean came to know about the heroic tale of Khaenri'ahs King, I highkey headcannoned that Kaeya told that story.
OH and his swoorddd hmmm, I'm not sure what you meant by switching sides but I'll assume at where or how he strikes in his moveset?? 👀 now that got me thinking
I like how his cape is located the left side which is also the "light side", since he's using his sword at his right hand which is also the dark side. He would fight in various of methods regardless of morality in order to keep Mondstadt safe. Since his right side may even be considered as a so-called sin since there are alot of Khaenri'ah motifs to be found. I mean, he could've put his cape at his right side instead, but it had to be on the left. (Eula's cape is on her right side, meaning that she may fight for Mondstadt in its entirety.) So maybe it does symbolize of how he's still struggling to know on which side he supports if we think that the cape symbolizes Mondstadt. Overall— him fighting and protecting are different categories for him?? Considering his designs have 2 sides and all that.
Now onto the light side, it's really interesting as well of how many symbols it has, not just the cape, but almost everywhere in his clothes:
I honestly don't know what to make of this symbol or I'm just reading into it too much but I hope this have some relevance into future lore.
Alright about the design of the cape— it seems like there's a similarity about the cape with the celestial motif, (the inner cape) from the structures I'm seeing.
The celestial motifs appear to be a semi-circular accent that typically appears in sets of three or five "petals": one large petal in the center, with one or two smaller ones to either side. And it seems to be in line with Kaeya's cape as well—
Hmmm but then again, Eula also has a cape but it's on her right side, capes are probably needed for captains to identify each other (though Hertha the npc bounty girl doesn't wear any— but I think that's because she only handles logistics, she doesn't fight most of the time. Capes can be kind of used as a shield at some point or to be used to hide any other small weapons, so maybe— those who fight or go out of the city wears capes usually??)
So it's pretty certain that it is his light side, where he was taken in warmly by Mondstadt, while I don't know what Kaeya thinks about the Gods or Celestia, by wearing something similar to them is a an interesting fashion choice for him. It's either Kaeya needs to do something that has something to do with those Gods as his mission. Or maybe it's something like he considers himself a Mondstadter but at the same time not completely because of his blood/mission (?) so I highly doubt that he would betray Mondstadt, based on how far he goes to keep his own city safe and its people. He accepts his past, but he doesn't know if the people around him that he trusts will accept it.
That's just my analysis as well when it comes to his design :D— not gonna lie, he seems pretty covered up (esp when he was a teenager)— save for his chest window that he must likely picked up from Diluc— (his ehem new skin 👀)
Also thank you for sending an ask about his character design, sorry if it's also a bit messy, brainrot really got active this time 🙏 I haven't been thinking lately (yes.) since I was busy writing a certain fic for the past few weeks. ( will i share it? maybe— maybe not ) I'll soon be active for a few days huehue

ok changing some thoughts on hyacinthe's former identity as a khaenri'ahn war machine (their specific kind known in present times as the fabled ruin champions) just recalled those bitches are pretty large in size JKDKLDSKES. most of the ruin machines that are "humanoid" have a pretty like?? non-human form too, ig the thing making them classify as appearing "humanoid" is that they're obviously bipedal. for ruin champions, they specifically resemble the humanoid form like. much more accurately, physical build and all; and they're also akin to grand warriors. i'd assuming cinthe's original form was much more larger in size
i'd say? around 10-15 feet tall. maybe even larger, but i also don't want to make an absolute titan of a machine. bc 15 ft already seems hella huge against the average human KJADJSAKKJSAAS
but despite their large stature, the core that runs them was relatively small. either it was enough to fit into hyacinthe's now smaller frame, or anais was able to tinker it to a minute form for it to fit. hmmm big thoughts
