people will straight up acknowledge that yes, the kens occupy the place of women in society and the narrative, then in the very next breath say that ken's toxic masculinity and male entitlement to barbie is what drives his actions

#hm i wonder who in the real world is encouraged to compete for their oppressor's attention #and center their personhood around their (especially romantic/sexual) relationships to members of said oppressive group #while simultaneously having their desires and interiority dismissed as frivolous and unimportant for doing so #and yes i “get” that both of these facts are somehow simultaneously ~the point~#but that doesn't make it any less of a laughably poor understanding of oppression dynamics #that results in a confused story where ken is the underdog you're NOT supposed to root for #texts #barbie critical
