welcome to the nonsensical-pixels blog: inconsistent previews since est. 2022!

have you ever gotten frustrated by the lack of desert-appropriate clothing out there? maybe you just want your sims to wear anything other than long knitted cardigans in hot weather. or hey, maybe you just like the vibes that come with the strangerville game pack and want them for ts2. well look no further, my strangerville collection is here!

started working on this set at the start of the month, while i was still playing strangertown (rip) but left it to cool for awhile while i went off to play some other custom 'hoods. well, until i started playing natosi by @oceansmotion recently and was in desperate need of more desert clothing, so i decided to resurrect this old project!

there are 6 clothing items included: 2 for adult females, 2 for adult males, and 2 for unisex kids! 🥳 age conversions are welcome!

i know that the original ts4 game pack isn't everyone's cup of tea--personally, it was my favourite--but the clothing sure looks great for ts2! again... at least in my opinion. i hope your desert-dwelling sims enjoy these new cas items--and the 'lil bonus i included!

oh, and because i struggled a lot finding a good backdrop for my previews... have a bonus download! i cloned & edited one of honeywell's easy peasy backdrops to remove the props, and changed up the uv map slightly. then i made random sims 4 themed desert recolors using night cafe! there are 4 swatches in total.

credits go to honeywell for the original mesh & night cafe for the backdrop swatches!

i hope everyone enjoys the items in this download! i worked really hard on them and i can't wait to use them more in my own game! i'm also really proud of my new preview lot haha, i love my new backdrops 📷

thankyouuuu im going with more of a fantasy thing for this one since i feel like the last few ive posted all look the same (you can tell i was grasping for straws with some of these forgive me😭😭😭) some stuffing, some inflation/expansion/bloating

🌹 Your character eats a tasty plant known for being particularly filling. They don't feel all that full until they find out where it gets its reputation: it blooms inside the stomach, filling them to the brim with large, hearty blossoms. Their burps probably smell pretty sweet.

🥀 Your character is feeling wilted after accidentally eating something that's been enchanted to drain energy. The best way to rejuvenate themself in this situation is with plenty of food and drink, even if they're already full from whatever they ate.

🌱 Your character is a plant person. They aren't nearly as big as their fellow plants, and they're doing everything they can to grow themself bigger--extra sunlight, lots of water, the works. Maybe it'll work eventually, but for right now all they have to show for their effort is an extremely bloated tummy.

🍃 Your character adds a new fast-growing plant to their garden, hoping for some quick and plentiful produce. What they didn't realize is just how quickly it grows. Before their very eyes, the sweet, crunchy leaves begin to spring up and overtake their garden. There's no time to get help; the only thing they can do is try to eat it faster than it can grow. Can they get it under control before they run out of tummy space?

🌵 After eating far too much, your character is feeling sore and sick and desperately wants a tummy rub. Sadly, they're covered in prickly scales, and their tummy is far too rough for most hands. Can anybody help them? Maybe some protective gloves would be useful.

🌴 Your character is a little woodland critter who lives in a hole in a tree. Their home inside the trunk is comfortably roomy, but the entrance is a pretty tight squeeze. It wouldn't take too much to bloat their tummy up enough to make it hard to get through, or even to get them stuck.

🪺 Your character is some sort of sneaky little egg-stealing freak, and they happen upon a nice full nest. One or two eggs would easily fill them up, but they can't carry the rest with them and they're unwilling to leave them behind, so they quickly cram the rest into their belly as well. Hopefully they're not too stuffed to scurry off before whatever laid those eggs returns.

🏔️ Your character is hiking up a mountain, and they stumble across some berry bushes. They're easy to identify as safe; these berries have pretty much no lookalikes…except for a very similar-looking berry that expands dramatically in dark, damp environments, making themselves a hazard to anybody careless enough to eat too many.

🌊 Your character is a deep-sea mermaid. They occasionally visit their friends who live closer to the surface, and any time they do, the change in pressure makes their belly bloat terribly. Hopefully their shallow water friends have something to soothe their tummy, otherwise it's going to be a very uncomfortable visit.

🌬️ Your character is a winged creature, perhaps a fairy or a harpy, flying against strong wind. They make the mistake of opening their mouth for a moment and are promptly filled up with a rush of air.

⚡ Your character has some sort of lightning powers that build up if they aren't released frequently enough. If they find themself somewhere where it isn't safe to blow off some electrical steam, their belly could become very uncomfortably bloated.

🌧️ Your character is at a cafe in the sky, trying a cloud for the first time. They're warned to take it slow, but they accidentally suck up the whole cloud in one slurp, leaving their belly incredibly bloated, at least until all the vapor in their stomach condenses back into water.

☀️ Your character is a creature with an exceptionally high body temperature. They don't need water to survive, and it isn't really found where they're from, so they've never had it before. The first time they drink water, they discover that it boils inside their stomach, rapidly filling them up with steam.

🌕 Your character visits the moon and discovers that the rumors are true: it's made of cheese (continuously regenerating cheese, too!). The place is filled with expansive cheese shops and restaurants specializing in cheesy foods. By the time your character is ready to come back from their trip, their belly is feeling very weighed down by all the tasty cosmic cheese they've eaten.

💫 Your character is visiting an intergalactic rest stop, and they have a buffet there. There are foods from all sorts of different planets, many of which your character has never seen before, and, being curious, they're eager to try a little bit of everything. They'll be stuffed enough from the quantity of food; hopefully none of the strange and unfamiliar foods upset their belly.

Arizona Trip 🌵☀️ February 17-23, 2024

I’m a bit late on recapping this trip, but I wanted to document it as it was just so good. Kate @colorado-wildflowers and I planned a trip to Phoenix, AZ to escape the winter blues.

Day 1: We met up with Alex @flowers-justbecause who I had never met before. She was awesome and little did I know how supportive (literally and figuratively) she’d be. We hiked Picketpost Mountain in Superior, AZ. This hike is rated difficult and boy… was it. It wasn’t marked well and there was high elevation which I’ve dealt with pleanty of times before, but I was not prepared for the rock scrambling that ensued. Kate caught some gnarly pictures of Alex and I scaling the mountain and seeing it from her prospective was wild to me (pic #8). There was a point in the climb that I almost was in tears (a first for me), but with the help of Alex and Kate, I was able to move past that. Alex even let me use her shoe as a “rock peg” during some of the climb, and I had just met her! Overall it was such a fun day and I felt badass afterward.

Day 2: We did an awesome hike at Lost Dutchman State Park. This park was so cool with numerous rock formations. This was on Presidents’ Day, and there were many people here. This hike even had a baby waterfall, but due to the temps of the desert, we could barely see it. This hike just had a lot of variety and I loved the loop as we were able to trek downhill afterward. Much needed after the day prior’s tough hike. Afterward, I picked up a coffee mug and magnet at the gift shop. We then got vegan chorizo tacos and relaxed in the hot tub at a spa across the street from our airbnb. Our air bnb host comped us free day passes to the spa due to their condo’s tub being out of service.

Day 3: We went to Saguaro Lake and did paddle boarding! The lake was beautiful. Kate even saw a wild desert pig. I couldn’t get over being in 70s and sunshine in the middle of February. I was truly basking in all its glory. After paddle boarding, we went and saw the most gorgeous sunset at “Hole in the Rock”. Definitely a touristy area, but beautiful and worth doing, nonetheless.

Day 4: We met up with Alex again and did a small hike at White Tank Mountain Regional Park. This place was fully paved and just so well maintained. Kate and Alex did a sunrise hike at Camelback Mountain, so an “easier” hike was perfect. The views did not disappoint. We also saw a bunch of petroglyphs! After that, we had such a wholesome/cute Taylor Swift Eras tour movie night. Alex brought her bracelet-making kits, and we made friendship bracelets. I made a bracelet that said “glorious sunrise” from one of my favorite songs of hers, Happiness.

Day 5: Our last day consisted of a hike at South Mountain, which is a park 10 minutes from our airbnb! It was the perfect way to end our trip. There were some cool caves (Dead Man’s pass) and amazing views of Phoenix. We then went to the Desert Botanical Garden. I’ve never seen so many cool-looking cactus before. Speaking of which, I got hand-made cactus in their gift shop and added it to my bookshelf. I love picking up cool trinkets on my trips. I found the perfect place for it on my bookshelf.

This trip was seriously everything I wanted it to be and more. Kate did such a fabulous job planning it (she is the desert queen) and I had such a fun time spending the week with her in the sunshine blasting Bright Eyes and Taylor Swift with the windows down. Oh, it was a wonderful splash.

I think I never told y'all the story of how I became vegetarian, so picture this: Family vacation, still affected by the pandemic so we get a little cabin in Styria, and after half a week I am done. with my parents, with my siblings, with the world. my parents drag me along on yet another hiking tour, and out of something that is the love child of spite and the desire to overhaul my life I declared then and there that I would be now vegetarian.

I still am almost 4 years later.

here’s one I managed to untangle in the wool box of thoughts. Mary and lily are hiking and picnic gfs. It’s a muggle thing they picked up on holidays from Hogwarts.

or errr Evan actually had a talent in divination but he does not like it very much but it comes from the family line but pandora on the other hand makes the divination talent a big part of her because it comes in the dreams

and pandora (this one is more grim) she died destroying a horcrux - I personally see it as raven claws diadem - but every single other person in the marauders died in a relation to Voldemort (except for Mary and Barty but it’s still severely affected them - and Barty is up for debate because he basically died with the dementors and I am pretty sure he got the kiss because he was helping Voldemort) and then Luna knows about the diadem and the horcruxes in the books so it would make sense for other context (was xeno making a memorial with the diadem?? Etc) and pandora and regulus were close

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?

When I started plotting fanfic versus when I started actually physically writing it is different. I was always so sad when bad things happened in my shows :( that I would just make up fix-its (though I didnt call them that because I was five) where all the characters were happy (I watched a lot of adult shows, sad things were happening all the time).

When I was old enough for school, I would always use character names for my worksheets (god. there were three. if youve been on tumblr for five minutes you can take a guess which three.)

For assignments, I wrote stories inspired by shows and movies I'd seen (usually very dark and definitely not for children lmao). Perhaps the most obvious example of this was the 22-page story I wrote in fifth grade which was a blatant Charmed x Supernatural crossover with most of the character names changed. (I think the funny thing was I didn't even include the sisters, just a side character they had helped in one episode who was the protagonist of my story. Saying this now, that's about as fanfic as u can get lol).

The first piece of actual fanfiction I can find is a 15-line fic I made when I was twelve. The 2nd was a 40 word whump snippet. The third was a 350 word crackfic (same fandom as the first).

I seemingly took a break for a while as I discovered you could read other people's fanfiction and promptly devoted all my free time to it.

I continued physically writing but it was all original fiction, not fanfic. I started physically writing fanfic snippets again (whump) a few years ago for an interest of mine and eventually started doing it for more fandoms, leading to now where I'm working on completing my ~10k White Collar fic.

I like to think the Neal celebrates all the holidays with the Burke's. It's already established he goes to their house a lot, but I like the idea of them doing various holiday things especially since Neal likely never got the best version of that growing up.
