not to only use this blog to publically bitch but i wont lie as someone who was in the fucking trenches during both ace discourse and mogai discourse the people who go "i hate micro identities theyre useless and only exist to force people into tinier boxes" are just as obnoxious to me as people who force everyone into the big boxes of lesbian/gay/bi/whatever. like what if we all agreed that the labels someone does or doesnt use isnt anyones damn business.
if someone uses 100+ micro labels that all contradict and only make sense to the user, its none of your business and youre a piece of shit if youre a jerk about it. if someone doesnt use any labels or only uses very vague labels on purpose, its none of your business and youre a piece of shit if youre a jerk about it. if someone just straightforwardly uses "mainstream" labels with very clear-cut definitions, its none of your business and youre a piece of shit if youre a jerk about it.
EVERY angle of label discourse has annoying ass people behind it whether its the people who shit on the idea of having labels at all or the people who shit on the idea of micro-labels or the people who force labels onto everyone or WHATEVERRR its ALL dumb!! just let people identify how they want with whatever words they want!! labels exist for a reason because newsflash, some people do find comfort in having a word to describe their experiences, even the weird obscure experiences that you dont care about there being a word for. and those people deserve to not have their experiences to be shat on just as much as people who know theres words for their experiences and decide that theyd rather use more vague labels or even no labels at all also deserve to not have their experiences be shat on.
its just so fucking annoying to see people who have good points about not forcing people into boxes just to start getting REALLY close to exclusionary "lol demisexual isnt that everyone" ways of thinking. like hey what if you left people and the words they use to describe themselves alone forever instead of being a miserable git going grrrr xenogenders grrrrr microlabels back in my day everyone just called themselves gay. because you just come off as an asshole making other peoples labels your business for no good reason
