thinking thoughts about Yori's background as crypt baby and just generally coping with being a child of unknown origins

Struggles with feeling unwanted. Sure, they don't know how or why they ended up several layers lost in the Necropolis, but it's not like someone who wants their baby would just. Lose an infant in the Mother of All Catacombs and not make a fuss about it. Some days are worse, but usually they cope as best they can.

The corpse-spirit-woman who found them was the last of the Ingellvar, a minor noble family from Nevarra that had died out during early Blessed Age. There's an infant buried right next to her, and the Mourn Watchers theorize the unfulfilled motherhood is what caused the spirit to bond with the lost elven baby.

Her name was/is Betrys Ingellvar.

Not only she wants the baby to be an Ingellvar (regardless of race), she also picks Yori's AFAB name, and later, Yorath asks her to give them a new name when they transition.

Yorath, of course, doesn't really consider her their mom, but they joke about it. Because they're now suddenly the last Ingellvar alive, as per the spirit's wishes, was given access to their catacombs at the Necropolis like a regular family member would.

Yori has since worked to return their graves and urns to their former glory. It's slow work since it's been abandoned for many, many years. They don't know any of the people buried there, but it's the closest they have of anything resembling family.

Technically their deceased should've been kept at the family's household, but when the bloodline died out the Mortalitasi transferred everything to the Grand Necropolis in hopes their heirlooms and history wouldn't be targeted by grave robbers.

Betrys, lacking the proper time grasp a fully living person would, has no idea Yorath is gone for over a year, and is really upset when a stranger shows up to care for the family's tomb (Yori asks Myrna to send someone to at least change the flowers). She scolds Yori for not visiting the next time they show up during Veilguard.
