minkowski doing her undergrad as a double major in music composition and aerospace engineering is literally my most hyperspecific headcanon but im genuienly just factually canonically right. she was applying for MASTERS PROGRAMS to compose musicals. implying she has an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, which i guess could also be english or theater if we're just talking about libretto. but if we're saying music it implies also that she has a high enough level of skill on whatever she plays to get through a conservatory or equivalent music program. im tempted to say piano because she says her favorite composer is chopin and chopin is such a pianist favorite composer to have but that might just be because she's polish so im flexible. tbh i could even see her as a vocalist on account of how much she likes theater. in my mind she applied for grad school and didn't get accepted anywhere and to cope with having her dreams crushed she went with her fallback which was joining the air force and then her canon dreamcrushing started.

i also like this headcanon so much because it makes the entire plot of the show even more of a total farce like can you IMAGINE if the aliens had had someone who had taken minimum 4 semesters of music history on the phone from the beginning. it could have been just that easy. but no. they got doug fucking eiffel! truly truly hysterical
