as much as i joke about mags throwing a hissy fit when someone has the audacity to question him, i do want to make one thing very clear:

he encourages curiosity and a thirst for knowledge

the reason he flies off the handle so fast with asha pressing him about his methods with the wishes has two main aspects: 1) she's already on thin ice with him after immediately taking advantage of the apprentice position when asking about a wish being granted and he's sick of this; and 2) she's questioning something he's spent his entire life "perfecting" (according to him) and doesn't seem to fully understand his side of things, which is frustrating to him

basically, the situation and the topic in that scene caused him to throw a tantrum. but in general...

boy loves nothing more than getting the chance to geek out about magic, okay? he actually thoroughly enjoys teaching people and can be a good mentor in the right circumstances
