So I was rewatching mermaid melody (for like the millionth time because it’s CLASSIC) and I forgot Rina had a crush on KAITO??? Like Luchia and Kaito are the OTP but like imagine the possibilities of Rina ending up with Kaito ???? And like what would happen to Luchia? Do you think they would have had her fall in love with someone else like that side character Ryo or maybe introduce Rihito earlier? Or like…what about Masahiro and Luchia? *explosion noises*

okay but stoppppp i know right!!!!! rinas my favorite character so i was so sad when i saw she had a crush on him sggsgs cause i knew it just Would Not happen with the story and everything. tragic!

i feel like rina and kaito would be very good friends and they didnt get that really in the series-- rina very purposely distanced herself from him to be considerate not only to herself but to lucia, yknow? even hanon knew rina had a crush on him so it would've been awkward if they started spending a lot of time together ☠️☠️ rina loved kaito like all of season 1, it was Crazy

bro it would be such a disaster if rina and kaito had ended up together..... i would've loved it but 😔 even with the narrative like lucia would've felt betrayed by two of the most important people in her life, suddenly we have sara part 2 in the north pacific ☠️

the only way i could've seen it happening was like maybe lucia gets tired of having to constantly be compared to her mermaid self and when she meets ryo its kind of a relief? him not being all fascinated with mermaids and stuff- i really think they could've done more with him in general sgsgs he felt like a very real possible rival to kaito in ways that other boys (rihito? they made it seem like him and lucia might date but i didnt find it believable at all) just didnt!

but lucia's just so Focused on kaito! and for good reason of course bc he kept her pearl for like a decade but still! lucia's like a ride or die, i don't think she could've ended up with anyone else

in the end though rina would never do her like that 😔😔 hanon and lucia stick with her while she struggles on land and that means a lot more to her than a guy, especially after losing noel!

aaa im really fond of masahiro highkey, hes such a great guy!! hes kind and funny and with him rina kind of gets to let go and indulge herself romantically, it makes me happy to see them 💓💓 after seeing her not get to have kaito in s1 i was so glad

masahiro is a catch for anyone tho tbh! but there is something to be said about how he doesnt really open up to people very quickly- with rina its no issue because she has some of the same issues so they dont address it until the relationship becomes more serious, but if he were to get with lucia i feel like that may have been a problem? lucia asks sooo many questions and insists on coming over to kaitos house and getting to know him super well- masahiro might clam up with lucias natural curiosity full force in his life! o:
