Nothing to do with anything but I was thinking about something. Do you think that with the impact of the Spider Verse movies, DC will be encouraged to better advertise their animated movies? Or at least give them more relevance. Because if there's one thing that I feel DC is good at, it's making animated movies and I'd like to see one in the theater.
I hope Spider-Verse encouraged them to consider making more higher budget animated movies (DC, give me animated Nightwing instead of live action Nightwing or I stg).
I mean, we've got successful releases like The Lego Batman Movie and DC League of Super-Pets, but tonally, those don't carry the same weight as a lot of DC's direct-to-video movies, and they also don't have to stick to a specific source material. They're made for a broader audience while DC's other animated movies may not interest casual fans as much. Plus, a lot of DC's animated movies seem to be just over an hour or so in length, so people might not pay to see a movie that short.
I also think DC is content making direct-to-video movies because there's less chance of them losing money that way, and they still end up making a profit from them unlike the release of Mask of the Phantasm (which was released in theaters and didn't have good marketing). Although, I feel like I read that they eventually did make a profit off of it once it went to video.
But yeah, I think DC tends to thrive more in the animated realm and it would be cool to see them make animated movies with a more diverse art/animation style (like Batman Ninja) compared to their usual direct-to-video styles. Maybe a bigger marketing budget would follow a bigger production budget.
