we have gone from 'ferrari clown team, free charles from ferrari' 'charles is too loyal to ferrari' to 'i wish max goes to ferrari in 2026' 'yess lewis in ferrari' 'i wish charles retires so my xyz fav can go to ferrari' fred vasseur the michellin star chef he is. if the current stats have them presed, these clowns are not ready for charles leclerc domination.
Everyone wants to be us. Everybody wants her. Well they can't have her. It's almost as if Charles has been the key ingredient to building a championship worthy team.
And if you made clown jokes about Ferrari, you do not deserve the red car now, it is that simple.
People underrated and underestimated him for years. And now they are starting to see what he can do with a stable competitive car. It's not even the best car(yet) and people are sweating.
"Everybody wants you. Everybody wonders what it would be like to love you." - Gold Rush (Taylor Swift)
#also Ferrari only take the best#so that eliminates a lot of people's dreams for their fav going there#and also insane to think that Charles is the weak link at Ferrari#he never has been and I doubt that's going to change#but yes people love making fun of the red car#but we always come back and then everyone looks silly#as for me I was born for Charles leclerc domination#luci answers#Charles has never been trapped by Ferrari he's been there for the long haul#he's been one of the smartest drivers in terms of career#and look where he is now

Hey! Iâm really new here and I understand if u donât want to stir the pot by talking ab this but if not would u care to share the political views, blunders, and did-goods that go on with drivers in FE? I want to know just what kind of climate even the more progressive drivers are circulating in it that makes sense?
Hey anon,
I donât think itâs really fair to pull them out on specifics - especially as these are things I know off the record, so this will be (mostly) without naming names.Â
Some of them have what I would call complicated politics. Di Grassi talks about this quite openly so I feel like itâs fair to say heâs socially liberal (and economically tech bro) but extremely nationalist when it comes to Brazil, so has a recursively odd tendency to, for instance, speak out against Bolsonaro politics in terms of climate change or whatever and then also to publicly support other of his policies. In Lucasâ case, Iâd say that he is not a good political communicator - and that he trips up on a lot of cultural barriers in terms of trying to present his views on the internet, something drivers have very limited experience doing. In reality, I think heâs genuinely liberal but with this intensely knotted relationship to his familyâs loyalties in Brazil and his own national pride and even he hasnât managed to fully think it all through in a coherent way.
I donât think any of the FE drivers are homophobic, although some of them would probably say things they didnât realise were homophobic. The kind of thing that, unless you get decent contact time with us gays, people donât unlearn and it wouldnât be meant with any venom. Iâve called a few of them out on it, in the past and when theyâve realised what theyâve said theyâve stopped and apologised.
Some of them would probably call each other out on it, too - FE has a lot more openly queer people in the paddock and organisations than any other motorsport Iâve ever worked in and because thereâs no closed doors and shut-off motorhomes, everyone mingles. Itâs almost beyond parody to say the street racing series is more metropolitan but it just is.
None of them have ever said anything misogynist to me - occasionally their banter is a little bit locker room but theyâre so pathetically not-jocks it doesnât really land with any weight behind it. Male journalists, to be honest, are much worse.Â
Iâd say, overall, the drivers think quite a lot harder in Formula E. I donât know if itâs just that theyâve mostly had career knockbacks and complications or I think the open nature of the paddock does actually make a difference to how much they can be confined to a bubble. Formula E attracts different people and different crowdsÂ
One of them did allege I was the first LGBT person heâd met awhile ago and then when I pulled him up on it in a joke a few months later he said he meant the first openly, in a paddock, which makes more sense. (I had a super aggressively gay haircut for most of Season 4)
The younger ones, in particular, are quite sweet. I know thereâs some sort of âMitch Evans is cancelledâ thing because he made a bitchy comment about Carmen Jordaâs racing ability when he was 18 but a) fair and b) heâs 25 now - and probably one of the smartest and more thoughtful drivers on the grid. But he is still friends with Nick Cassidy, who still makes gay jokes on Insta - Iâd guess Mitch has picked his battles on that one. Most of us have a few friends where weâre like âoh god no why does Tory Dave turn up to the pub every timeâ but Tory Dave also did drive you to hospital when you broke your leg at 4am so you just try and avoid politics when heâs around.
I donât think any of them are raging pinkos but they definitely try to use their wealth and influence ethically, moreso than in some other series. In general, they are quite outward-looking and care about things - some impulsively or disproportionately but they are definitely people who take on causes.Â
Theyâre not ...hmm, how you say... woke but they are much more aware. Iâm writing a feature at the minute about masculinity and enforced behaviour in motorsport, for instance and theyâre open to reflecting on that. In the past, theyâve been open about talking about mental health and vulnerabilities, things youâd get savaged for speaking about in some series where everyoneâs meant to be some emotionally lobotomised gladiator-god.
Actually to give them full credit, some of them are openly left wing - Alex Sims, in particular, springs to mind. (He supported Labour in the last UK election)
So basically: for fairly oblivious dudes who occupy a conservative world, they are extremely thoughtful and progressive. They will totally fuck up, though, because most of them are still taking baby steps.Â
A couple of them are just straight-up right wing but that itâs only a couple is quite a statement about the series.

CHAPTER SEVEN
Cath watched Tom as he jogged out the door towards the staircase, that stupid fucking curl brushing at the back of his neck. No matter what she did (and my god she tried just about everything), that stupid piece of hair refused to lay right. Why it bothered her, Cath couldnât or wouldnât let herself think on. It was stupid and she, it seemed, was stupid too.
âNot interested?â Lorna snorted, âMy left foot.â  She burst into laughter at the stern look Cath shot her way. âWhat? Itâs completely obvious to anyone with eyes that the man is taken with you.â
Letting out a resigned sigh, Cath dropped herself onto the small couch-like chair in the far corner of the room. âInterested or not, itâs not a good idea.â
âAnd why ever not?â Lorna crossed the room herself and stood, arms crossed in front of her chest, brows furrowed in exasperation.
Cath rested her elbows on her knees and turned her face towards Lorna. âWe work together for one. And relationships in the work placeâŠLorn, you know those donât tend to end well. I like Tom, he is a great guyâŠâ
Lorna rolled her eyes. âHe is a great guy. Like genuinely decent and he is into you the way you are him.â She shot her a knowing look. âYes, you work together and yeah, itâs not always the best idea, but do you really think the chance of it not working is worth not giving it a go?â
âItâs not as easy as all that. If he were a normal blokeâŠâ
âHe is a normal bloke,â Lorna cut in, âAlbeit one with a slightly less than normal jobâŠâ she added with a knowing shrug. âAnd donât look at me in the tone of voice, Cath. I know you and I know why youâre hesitating. But heâs not some conceited arse whoâs after as much tail as he can get. You and I both have seen enough of that type to know the bloody difference.â She plopped herself down beside Cath, and wrapped an arm around her. âJust give it a go, the worst that could happen is it doesnât work. And I seriously doubt Tom is the kind of person who would fuck with your career if things went badly.â
Cath shook her head. âNo, heâs probably not. But stillâŠLet me process this wholeâŠâ she waved her hands around searching for an appropriate term and, failing to find one, settled on, âthing on my own time.â
âFair enough.â Lorna jumped up from the chair and held her hand. Cath took it and allowed her friend to pull her to her feet. âYouâre still going to the pub, though.â
It took all she had not to groan. âI know.â
Lorna grinned. âGood. Just wanted to make sure that was clear. Now get your coat and letâs go.â
âBut the suitâŠâ She cut her eye to the dressing area. Tomâs suit would need to be hung and placed back on the rack. God forbid the damned thing wrinkled. Sheâd never hear the end of it.Â
âCath, we are talking about Tom. I bet you twenty quid that manâs hung the suit up neater than you would.â
The snort Cath let out was far from refined and both women nearly collapsed again in a fit of laughter. âFine. Fine,â she relented, wiping the corners of her eyes with her fingers. âAnd Iâm not wagering on it.â
Lorna grinned. âCause you know youâll lose. Besides if itâs not, we can just steam it when we come in tomorrow.â She had pulled on her coat as she spoke and thrust Cathâs at her along with her small bag. âNow letâs go.â
Shrugging into her own coat (a dark green woolen thing sheâd found in an Oxfam several years back) Cath grumbled under her breath as she followed Lorna down the stairs and out of the theatre. The crowd outside was far larger than either woman had expected. Hundreds of people lined the side of the theatre, separated from the actors by a small metal barricade. Dozens of others were on the opposite side of the street, phones out and chatting to one another. Tom stood, his strong back towards them, chatting and smiling with the fans that approached.
Cath stood, staring at the mass of people, until a tug on her arm brought her round. She turned her attention back towards Lorna who mouthed a âwowâ before tugging her on the arm, leading them down the street away from the theatre and around the corner towards the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus.
                             â
Tom pushed the glass door of The Queens Head open and quickly made his way inside. It was cold out and he was desperate for the warmth he knew the pub would provide. Heâd had the car his manager hired drive him a few blocks away from the theatre before heâd ask the driver to stop and had gotten out to walk the remaining short distance towards the pub. And ended up walking a lap or two around the surrounding area watching the later evening crowd wander from place to place, talking and laughing. It was probably not the smartest thing heâd ever done (Tom could and would admit) but he needed the air and the walk to try to help clear his head.
He was still jittery from the show and then later the crowd (while heâd known his fanbase to be...dedicated, he hadnât expected such an influx of people, not when heâd been more or less âquietâ work wise for the last year or so). And if he were being honest with himself, the almostâŠwhatever it was with Cath back in the dressing room. What had he been thinking? Acting that way. Especially towards a colleague. Heâd known better for christâs sake. He hadnât been thinking, that was the obvious conclusion. Just acting impulsively and had Lorna not popped up when she hadâŠ
 âOy! Tom!â
His attention snapped to the far corner of the dimly lit room. Charlie stood, glass raised, waving him over to the table he and the others had acquired. Tom laughed to himself, unbuttoning his coat as he made his way through the room towards the waiting group. The pub was full, but not overly so. Not at all surprising giving it was later in the evening on a Tuesday in the West End. A few people took note of him as he passed, but did nothing but whisper at companions or in a few cases stare, and Tom brushed it off.
âWhat took you so long, mate?â Charlie handed him a tumbler of whiskey as he settled in the only open seat. Directly next to Cath. Tom didnât know whether to laugh or cry at his luck.
He rested his elbows on the table top and took a brief sip of his whiskey, enjoying the burn of it as it slid down his throat settling in a tiny warm ball in his stomach. He took a breath and shrugged. âI walked for a bit, needed time to get my head back on straight.â Cath cut her eyes briefly towards him before turning her attention back towards Zawe, falling back into their conversation. There was something in her expression that he hadnât been able to read. He turned his attention back towards Charlie.
Charlie nodded, taking a sip of his beer. âFair enough.â
The two fell into quiet conversation regarding the show and their respective reactions to the response theyâd received; Zawe leaning over to chime in with her own opinion from time to time as she continued her conversation with Lorna and Cath. Theyâd received a standing ovation, something that never failed amaze him, though Tom had noted a fair few people sneaking out before official curtain call. Charlie and Zawe confirmed theyâd noticed as well and all three touched on the lack of proper theatre etiquette in the general public with chuckles and sighs of exasperated amusement.Â
âYou want another?â Zawe leaned over, picking up Tomâs empty tumbler and reaching for Cathâs equally empty wine glass.
âSure,â Tom answered with a nod. He hadnât realized heâd finished it.Â
Out of the corner of his eye, Tom watched Cath push her chair back and reach to take the glasses from Zawe. âOh no you donât. This here is to celebrate your guysâ hard work. Let me treat you.â
She shot Zawe a pointed look and with a laugh, the taller woman conceded.
âFine, Richardson. Far be it me to turn down free drinks. But next roundâs on me.â
Cath merely shook her head and made her way through the room back towards the bar.
âYou stare any harder and your eyesâll fall right out of your head,â Zawe pointed out, her voice snapping Tomâs attention back to the table. She laughed into her hand, eyes flashing in amusement. Beside her Lorna snorted into her wine glass.
Charlie shrugged and smirked into his beer. âShe has a point.â
Tom scoffed, eyes darting towards the table before rising and locking on Charlie. âJust how much have you lot had to drink?â
Zawe snorted, âNot nearly enough to buy what youâre trying to sell there, my good man.â She reached across and patted Tom on the shoulder. âI may not be sober as a judge, but Iâve still got my wits about me and you, good sir, were making eyes at our lovely Catherine.â
âSo what if I was looking at her, sheâs a beautiful woman and I tend to notice these things. Doesnât mean anything more than that.â
âMe thinks the lady doth protest too much,â Lorna quipped, tipping her glass towards Tom and quirking an eyebrow. He shot her a withering look and she giggled in response.
âYou think you are so funny.â
âOh I donât think, my dear man, I know.â She took another sip of wine. âAnd speaking of knowingâŠâ
Whatever Lorna had planned to say was cut off by Cathâs return to the table. She smiled handing Zawe her glass of red wine and placing Tomâs whiskey before him. She sipped her own white wine and settled back into her chair. âSo, what did I miss?â
âNothing of consequence,â Tom answered, raising the tumbler to his lips and taking a generous sip. Both Lorna and Zawe raised their eyebrows at that but said nothing. âThank you, for the drink.â He tipped the glass in her direction and smiled.
Cath nodded, raising her own glass in his direction. âNot a problem.â She took a quick swallow and stared quickly down the table. âDonât all stop talking on my account, unless youâd like me to get irrationally paranoid?â
Zawe snorted into her own glass, took a sip, and placed it back onto the table. âJust debating the nature of attraction.â Her eyes cut quickly towards Tom and he fought to school his features into a neutral expression.
âYeah, how people tend to downplay things when called out on them,â Lorna added.
âSo Zawe,â Tom cut in, attempting to change the direction the conversation was steadily heading in. âYour book launch, that is next month right?â
Zawe narrowed her eyes slightly but played along all the same. âYes it is. The third of April. Youâre still coming right? I know Charlie here is going. And Lorna and Cath too.â If that helps cement your interest, her look implied.
Tom suppressed a groan, taking another sip of his whiskey, and nodded. âLike I would miss supporting my lovely, fictional wife.â
âOh honey, I knew you cared,â Zawe cooed back with a laugh.
He reached across the table and gave her hand an affectionate squeeze. âAnything for you, my cuckolding dove.â
Both dissolved into fits of laughter triggering the rest to quickly follow suit and soon the entire table was enveloped in ruckuses of laughter. It took several minutes and more than a few disapproving glares from other patrons before they were able to calm. The next hour passed in a blur of conversation and laughter.
Zawe pushed herself to her feet, holding her empty glass up. âReady for another round ladies and gents?â
âNone for me thanks,â Cath answered with a shake of her head. âStrict two drink limit on work outings for me.â
âWork outing?â Zawe pouted. âIâm crushed you think this is a work outing.â
âI thought we were friends,â Tom chimed in. âYou bought me coffee. That is like a sacred bond!â
âThat was once,â Cath laughed. âAnd to be fair you sounded wretched on the phone that day, it was a moment of weakness.â
Tom tapped his fingers on the table and raised his eyes to hers, widened and glossy with unshed tears, hand resting over his heart. âI am hurt, I tell you. Truly hurt.â
Cath snorted, âOverdramatic much, Hiddleston? And for that you owe me a coffee.â
âHow about tomorrow before work?â Tom had no idea why heâd blurted it out like that. And from the reactions of everyone else at the table, neither could they. Zawe, Charlie, and Lorna glanced from Tom to Cath and back before glancing at each other and taking sips of their drinks.
She paused for a moment, uncertainty flashing across her face, and Tom felt his heart pounding in his chest. No reason to be nervous, itâs just bloody coffee. âYou think youâre so smooth.â
Tom leaned towards her and raised an eyebrow. In for a penny, in for a pound. âSo thatâs a yes then?â
Amusement sparked in Cathâs eyes. âWhy not? I like my lattes with four shots of espresso and extra vanilla.â She leaned forward and kissed his cheek briefly. Tom froze. That was certainly not what heâd expected. Behind him, Tom heard Charlie sputter into his beer and then cover the misstep with a suspiciously timed cough.
âSo drinks?â Zawe called, her own laughter barely suppressed. Lorna and Charlie voiced their consent. Zawe jumped to her feet and clapped her hands together. âAlright. Back in a jiff.â She turned and headed off towards the bar.
âWell that wasnât strange at all,â Cath chuckled, settling farther into her seat.
Charlie shrugged and took another sip of his beer. âThatâs acting types for you. Weâre an odd lot.â
âFunny, how could I have missed that?â
                                â
Bobby pulled on his lead, heading towards yet another copse of trees. Tom groaned under his breath and let himself be lead into whatever the damned spaniel had in mind. He was therefore unsurprised when Bobby began to bark explosively, sending pigeons scattering in every direction.
âAbsolute menace,â he grumbled. âAbsolutely bloody menace.â He pulled on Bobbyâs lead, trying urge him back to the path. With great reluctance the spaniel left his frantic prey and trotted alongside Tom as they finished their morning run. The park was nearly empty, the early hour and the cold keeping most Londoners safe in their homes.
Two streets from home Tom found himself paused before Oak & Leaf Coffee. The siren song of caffeine called to him and he chanced quick glance at Bobby, wondering if the spaniel would behave enough for a quick dash inside. Large brown eyes locked with his and Tom let out a sigh.
 âTom. Fancy meeting you here.â
Cath stood by the shop door, dark hair covered in a brightly colored knitted wooly hat, scarf around her neck, ends tucked inside the opening of her green woolen coat. A quiet smile spread her face and Tom felt his heart thumping wildly in his chest. Her eyes darted from his face down to the pavement and he watched the smile grow slowly but infinitely wider.
It had been just over a week since the bar and save quiet, polite talk in the chair as she did his stage makeup, Tom had done his best to keep his distance. He liked Cath, far more than heâd truly let himself realize, and that had unnerved him. Add that to the way heâd almostâŠSo heâd pulled back, slipping into the calm and polite mask heâd worn so frequently in the last few years. Heâd seen the hesitation in her eyes during the first few days which slowly morphed into a quiet acceptance.
âAnd who is this handsome fellow?â She bent down, hand outstretched towards Bobby. The spaniel shoved an inquisitive nose into her palm and, upon finding her to his liking, began to lick at her gloved hand. The laughter such action pulled from her did nothing to calm the trip hammer that had become Tomâs heart.
âHis nameâs Bobby. And donât let that face fool you, heâs an unholy terror.â Tom was pleased the comment came out as calmly as it had. His voice sounded even and remarkably together.
Cath chuckled and stood once more. âOf that Iâve no doubt. Especially given his owner.â She raised her eyebrow at him and Tom huffed in mock anger with only served to make Cath laugh harder.
Tom sighed and shot Bobby a commiserating look. âSuch disrespect.â
âOnly the best for my favorite grumpy actor,â she teased.
His grinned and raised his own eyebrow. âYour favorite, am I?â
âEh, the day is young and Iâm fickle.â
Around them foot traffic was beginning to pick up as more and more people began to brave the cold on their way to work, shopping, and other such tasks which couldnât be put off indefinitely. Bobby stood, his gaze darting from passing cars and people to his master and the woman who held his attention. He whined slightly and tugged at his lead.
âBobby seems to be keen on heading off,â Cath pointed out as she rocked back and forth on her heels.
âKeen to get into trouble more like. Heâs probably spotted a bird or a squirrel and decided itâs his mortal enemy and therefore needs to be vanquished.â He clicked his tongue once and the spaniel reluctantly relaxed. âLondon wonât fall if one gets away.â
Bobby looked up, eyes wide, and Cath laughed. âHe looks like youâve just crushed his heart.â
Tom laughed. âHeâs perfected that look since puppyhood. But that doesnât mean Iâm giving in.â He uttered that last words with a meaningful look in Bobbyâs direction.
They slowly fell into silence. Tom adjusted his grip on Bobbyâs lead and took a fortifying breath. âWould you like that coffee now? Vanilla latte with four shots and extra vanilla, right?â
Cathâs eyes widened slightly before she nodded. âThat is correct. But if you are in a hurry you donât need toâŠâ
Tom shook his head. âNo, no. I was just stopped here debating on seeking out a coffee myself and the wisdom of risking leaving this trouble maker tied to a lamp post so I could dash inside.â
âWell then, I would gladly accept the coffee you promised now. And if youâd like I could stay here and keep an eye on Bobby here while you dash in. I think I can manage to keep him on the straight and narrow.â
Amusement danced in Tomâs eyes and he nodded. âIâll be back in a moment then.â He turned back towards the glass and wooden door of the coffee shop and pushed it open. His eyes closed in momentary bliss as the warm, rich scent of fresh ground coffee and sweet, buttery pastry enveloped him.
The shop was small, a few worn but comfy arm chairs lined the windowed front and the side wall of the room, with polished and sturdy wooden tables placed between. Soft light from the various lamps resting on the tables bathed the room in a warm glow. A handful of patrons sat sipping coffee and reading or talking quietly. Behind the glass and metal counter a bright eyed woman stood, her red hair pulled back in a loose bun and a warm smile on her face. âWelcome to Oak & Leaf, what can I get you this morning?â
Tom offered a warm smile of his own. âGood morning. Iâd like a double espresso, two pain au chocolat and a vanilla latte with four shots and extra vanilla to take away.â
He ran his card through the chip and pin machine and stood to the side of the counter while she fixed the drinks and placed his pastries into a brown paper bag. Armed with caffeine and sweeties, Tom headed quickly back out into the morning chill. Cath and Bobby had laid claim to one of the metal tables near the storefront and both jumped to attention at his return. Tom placed her cup before her, bowing his head slightly. âYour latte, my lady.â
Cath stifled a giggle. âYou are too much, Hiddleston. Too much.â She picked up the cup and inhaled, eyelids fluttering in bliss. âThank you.â
âYou are more than welcome,â he answered with a smile as he settled in the seat opposite. âAnd Iâve bought you something else as well.â
She quirked an eyebrow, leaning across the table as her eyes focused first on the bag and then back on him. âDid you now?â
Tom grinned and nodded, opening the brown bag and pulling out one of the pastries. He laughed aloud at the way Cathâs eyes widened at the sight of the warm delight and how she reached almost involuntarily for it. Placing it into her hand, he noted she pulled her gloves off at some point, Tom found himself watching as she picked the pastry apart bit by bit, savoring each piece. Absently, he picked at his own between sips of espresso.
âSo,â Cath started, popping the last bite of pastry into her mouth and chasing it with a quick sip of her latte.
âSo,â Tom echoed, passing his cup back and forth between his hands. A disgruntled bark from below them drew both sets of eyes towards the pavement. Bobby looked up at Tom, wide eyed, and whined. Letting out a resigned sigh, Tom looked up at the woman across from him. âIâd better get him home. Iâll see you at the theatre later?â
Cath bit her lip and nodded. âDefinitely.â She reached across the table, taking one of Tomâs hands in her own and squeezing it lightly. âThank you again.â
He smiled warmly at her, returning the squeeze. âIt was my pleasure.â He pushed himself to his feet, his remaining espresso in one hand and Bobbyâs lead firmly in the other. Bobby leapt up as well, pausing to lick at Cathâs offered hand and let her scratch him affectionately behind the ears.
They took off down the street towards home; Ton fighting the urge to turn back and look at her once more.

He was still jittery from the show and then later the crowd (while heâd known his fanbase to beâŠdedicated, he hadnât expected such an influx of people, not when heâd been more or less âquietâ work wise for the last year or so).
Charlie and Zawe confirmed theyâd noticed as well and all three touched on the lack of proper theatre etiquette in the general public with chuckles and sighs  of exasperated amusement.
âYou want another?â Zawe leaned over, picking up Tomâs empty tumbler and reaching for Cathâs equally empty wine glass.
âSure,â Tom answered with a nod. He hadnât realized heâd finished it.

Alexander Albon arrived in Brazil fresh from confirmation that he will be a Red Bull driver in 2020, and itâs fair to say he is still finding it a little hard to come to terms with the dramatic changes in his career in the last 12 months. Itâs not much more than a year since the Anglo-Thai was consigned to a career in Formula E, but then Red Bull came calling, he got a Toro Rosso seat, and the place in F1 he thought had passed him by, and now heâs in a Red Bull.
âItâs crazy, really,â Albon said on Thursday. âI say it a lot, but I truly mean it when I say it. To get the call-up originally after Hungary, it was quite a daunting prospect, really. But I felt like I could do something. To be honest the races that Iâve had, I been Iâve been pretty happy with. And yes, of course, to get that final call to tell me that Iâm staying for next year, it feels really good. Really good.â
Team-mate Max Verstappen said it was the âsmartest decisionâ. âHeâs a nice guy and I think for him the last 12 months has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Of course heâs very laid-back, very relaxed. And people like him in the team. Heâs easygoing, which I think helps. And heâs quick, heâs doing his job, heâs getting the points. So I think it was the smartest way of continuing.â

Itâs been ten years since the weigh in, so Iâd like to see the actual fight now.
Will the shorter, fiery Italian send one up the inside and punt him off the canvas, or will the taller Sutil keep him just outside the DRS zone and take it on points?

At Ferrari, the focus this weekend will be on proving that their dip in performance in Austin last time out was a one-off â and, particularly, that it was not related to the rule clarification on operation of an engineâs hybrid system that was issued on Saturday morning in Texas.
Rivals â privately, if not publicly â linked Ferrariâs first failure to win pole for seven races, and the clear reduction of their straight-line advantage visible on telemetry, directly to the FIAâs ruling.
The row has rumbled on to Brazil, stoked by another clarification earlier this week, this time confirming the that adding coolant to the combustion chamber is illegal. If Ferrari are concerned about all this, they are doing a good job of hiding it. âWe all know what we are doing,â Charles Leclerc said.
âWe know there is absolutely nothing wrong. And I feel confident things will come back to normal here.â
Leclerc has a new engine for this weekend, following a failure in Austin practice, and there will be a lot of attention on the red carsâ speed up the long hill from JuncĂŁo corner to the start-finish line once things start hotting up this weekend.

Raikkonen â Brazilian Grand Prix 2007
One year many of you will remember⊠it was a three way battle for the title, with Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari, and the two McLarens of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Raikkonen took the championship by one point over Hamilton who was in his rookie year, and his two-time world champion team-mate Alonso.
In the race, Hamilton had a poor start and tried to make an overtake on Alonso which made him go off wide and drop to eighth. Then things went from bad to worse as the Brit had gearbox issues. Raikkonen assumed the lead of the race and McLarenâs strategy calls were not enough to beat Ferrari, so Kimi took his first and only world championship.

The purist's America's Cup the story of the seven-strong J Class Regatta in Bermuda
A record fleet of seven J Class yachts in Bermuda represented the purer form of the sport for many America's Cup fans. Toby Hodges reports.
Seven J Class yachts hit the startline for the first time ever. Photo J Class/Carlo Borlenghi.
Inviting the J Class fleet to sail in Bermuda during the America's Cup finals was one of the smartest decisions made by Russell Coutts and the organisers of the event. The largest J fleet to ever assemble in the 88-year history of the class put on a true yachting spectacle sailing at its finest.
The America's Cup catamarans divide opinion sharply among long-term sailing fans. For all those who love the high speed, high adrenaline format, it appears to repel at least an equal number. Hosting the J Class in Bermuda proved the ultimate foil to the foilers. It was an exhibition of timeless design and sail handling skill that the modern Cup lacked.
When five Js raced for the first time in 2012, it signalled the true renaissance of this incomparable class. But the sight of seven Js on a startline, racing over the calm, turquoise waters of Bermuda was sensational. It was the picture-perfect showcase for these graceful 1930s designs and a demonstration of the precise choreography of the large teams of skilled hands needed to get them safely and speedily around a race course.
youtube
All nine existing Js are in prime condition, upgraded and optimised to the nth degree (although both Rainbow and Endeavour are for sale and were not competing). The seven-strong racing fleet carries carbon sails, for example, as used by grand prix race yachts. The sight of these black sails on classic yachts made for a strange sight as they cast dark shadows over the clear water.
Lionheart, a 2010-built Hoek design that is taken from one of the lines plans made for the Ranger syndicate in 1936, proved the star performer. She won both the Superyacht Regatta, which comprised six Js and 14 superyachts, and the seven-strong J Class Regatta.
But the latter was only decided in the final stages of the final race (more on that later). As with most J Class racing in recent years, places were often separated by mere seconds on the water.
JK3 Shamrock V, the oldest J and the first built for the America's Cup in 1929, changed hands last year and underwent a refit to get her race-ready for this season. Her teak planked construction means she can't take the high rig loads of the other steel and aluminium Js. She is shorter and around ten per cent slower so can only compete on handicap.
JS1 Svea, the newest and longest J, is the polar opposite. Her blend of J Class lines and maxi class technology makes her one of the most exceptional new yachts of modern times. Impressively, she got a 3rd place on her first ever race, and a 1st on the second a phenomenal achievement for a virtually brand new yacht.
Ultimate exhibition of sail
The Js held their own regatta either side of the first weekend of the America's Cup finals and an armada of local and visiting boats followed the fleet out to the racecourse.
Those ashore were given the chance to see the fleet in action too. The shallow waters of the Great Sound are too restrictive to set proper courses for the J Class, hence the races were held off the north coast of the island. On the day of the first America's Cup match, however, the Js performed an exhibition race that saw them set off at 30-second intervals on the Cup course on the Great Sound.
The footage and live commentary was beamed to the big screens and watched by thousands of fans assembled in the America's Cup village. It created a carnival atmosphere and a tangible link to the history of sport's oldest trophy.
The J Class were originally designed and raced for the America's Cup during the 1930s. Sir Thomas Lipton commissioned the first J Class yacht, Shamrock V, for his fifth challenge for the Auld Mug. The Js signalled the change from the big boat class, to one where the size and displacement of the yachts were controlled for more even racing. Fittingly, it was the adoption of the Bermudan rig that enabled Js to carry their vast sail plans.
Just three of the ten J Class yachts originally built survive today the rest are replicas or new builds of original designs. It still requires around 30 race crew to get these 180-tonne yachts around the marks, just as it did during the 1930s.
You only have to look at the start sequence, with everyone within a second of the gun, it's very close, said Shamrock's skipper Simon Lacey. It's vital to have the skill set to sail these boats safely at this level.

Cup sailors on ex-Cup yachts
The huge pool of decorated sailing talent aboard the J Class yachts in Bermuda made for a stark contrast to the modern America's Cup format, where sailing roles are limited. The Js need the pros and the pros increasingly need the Js.
The pit and forward ends feature serious muscle power, ex-grinders with nicknames like 'Meat', 'Animal' and 'the Tractor'. A glance at the afterguards shows that this class holds the cream of collective experience and provides longevity to the careers of some of the sport's greatest sailors.
The crew of Ranger, for example, under long-term helmsman Erle Williams, included four times America's Cup winner Brad Butterworth calling tactics. Tony Rae, manning the mainsheet, is a seven-time Cup veteran who sailed in every Team New Zealand line-up from 1987 until 2013.
For me there is no sailing role now for a 55-year-old, Rae explained. It has all changed and that is one of the reasons we have so many ex-America's Cup sailors on these J Class yachts.
Hanuman is helmed by ex-Puma skipper Ken Read, who is supported by his Volvo Ocean Race navigator Stan Honey and eight-time America's Cup sailor Warwick Fleury trimming.
Svea's strategist is North Sails CEO Tom Whidden, a three-time Cup winner, sailing with navigator Peter Isler, his fellow crewmember from Stars & Stripes. Andrew Taylor is the crew boss, a powerhouse who has won the America's Cup three times twice for Team New Zealand and in 2010 with Oracle Team USA.
The pros are used in pivotal positions on Js and the other crew and permanent hands absorb their knowledge and experience. Lionheart's Bouwe Bekking, a seven-time Volvo Ocean Race veteran, stressed that although the pros are vital, every hand is really important. One of the strong points of Lionheart is that we have been sailing together for four years.
Velsheda's crew has sailed together for a decade and includes top Kiwi pros such as Tom Dodson as tactician, Campbell Field navigating and Carsten Schon trimming. Mainsheet trimmer Don Cowie made the point that it is actually difficult to find younger crew these days who are used to racing on yachts with such phenomenal loads.
Stu Bannatyne, Shamrock's helmsman and a three-time winner of the Volvo Ocean Race, doesn't think that there is a danger of these skilled roles dying out however. Who knows what will happen with the next round of the AC? It may revert to boats that do require a little bit of sail handling I think that would be nice.
Shamrock's crew included Olympic and Volvo sailor Chris Nicholson on tactics and four crew from three current Cup teams.

Seven J Class yachts race
On the first day that all seven Js actually raced, Shamrock's skipper Simon Lacey, the only person to have skippered all three original Js, invited me to join Shamrock's crew.
At the start, we were the only boat to cross the line on port tack a tactical decision to take the transoms of the fleet and keep out of their dirty air. Shamrock is smaller than the other Js and restricted by her older systems and rig, so has to sail her own race. We have 30 per cent less stability and 200sq m less sail area for the same weight as Hanuman, says Jeroen de Vos of Dykstra Naval Architects, who was trimming.
De Vos has worked on the design and optimisation of six of the Js over the last 20 years, including Hanuman, Ranger and Shamrock last year. Hanuman and Lionheart in particular underwent extensive work that specifically targeted the light winds of Bermuda.
De Vos said that ten tonnes was stripped out of Hanuman and that the forestay was moved forward a rigging change that was also made to Ranger. Hanuman also has a furling forestay and is the only J to use a snuffer on the kite to allow for late drops and quicker mark roundings.
Shamrock's size difference is certainly noticeable on deck and below. While she was clearly slower and less agile around the track the upside of which, for me at least, was a prime view of the mark roundings of six other Js ahead Shamrock was still expertly handled during the windward-leeward races that day.
During the first beat our crew boss Andy McLean, a Kiwi sailor who worked on the control systems for Land Rover BAR, admitted that he hadn't sailed with a spinnaker pole since the 2007 Cup.
As we approached the top mark, however, the bear-away set he oversaw was a lesson in clockwork efficiency. Eight crew manhandled the spinnaker pole into place, while two more set the jockey pole. As we powered around the offset buoy, the sheets were eased, before the spinnaker rocketed aloft and burst open. Crew then scurried to the foredeck to grapple down the genoa, the kite was trimmed and calm restored.
Unfortunately the sight of all seven Js racing together only lasted for one and a half races. While coming into the top mark during the second race, the top fitting of Svea's headstay furler parted with a frightening bang. The genoa dropped instantly to the water and, were it not for quick crew work, they could have dismasted.
The runners and sheet were immediately eased and halyards cranked onto the foredeck. No one was hurt and Svea made it back to dock safely for her official christening party that evening. But it was a crushing blow for Svea's crew, who had worked so hard over the last two years to get her ready for this summer's J events.
Svea is a remarkably stiff yacht with carbon sails and rigging that directly transmit the wind's force through the boat. An astonishing 35 tonnes of load can be cranked onto the forestay. That this failure happened in 11 knots of wind and flat water, at less than half the safe working load of the fitting (55 tonnes), is highly concerning. Captain Paul Kelly says the rig will be inspected in Newport and that they hope to be back racing in time for the inaugural J Class Worlds in August.
The Js may sail at a pedestrian pace compared to the America's Cup foiling catamarans, but as this fleet increases in size, so too does the potential for drama and position changes. One bad layline call, one poor gybe, or a mistimed entry to the windward mark even by a few seconds and the race positions get shaken up.
This was proven during the final races, when Hanuman and Ranger went into the last day sharing the lead but finished 3rd and 4th. Lionheart had a poor final start and was in last place going up the first beat it looked like Hanuman's regatta was sealed.
But when a penalty was issued to Hanuman for a rule infringement on a port approach to the last windward mark and Lionheart then managed to pass Topaz on the downwind leg, Lionheart snatched the regatta win in the final moments.
The crew were ecstatic. On receiving the trophy, Lionheart's owner said the crew had been gearing up for this event for over two years. That both Lionheart and 2nd-placed Velsheda have owner-drivers is also good for the future appeal of the class.
The crew of Lionheart celebrate their victory.

The future of the J Class and the Cup
Might such an event happen again or was it a once in a lifetime? And will the Js continue this formal link to the America's Cup?
The Js are all private yachts used for racing and cruising, so such a decision lies squarely with each owner. But would the owners be keen on going to New Zealand for the next Cup for example?
Yes, I would say so, says J Class Association secretary Louise Morton. Certainly the invitation was there.
It is very unusual (and expensive) for the class to do standalone events yet recently they have competed in Falmouth, Bermuda and their first worlds will be in Newport in August. Next year the class plans to attend the St Barths Bucket and three key Med superyacht regattas.
The success of this Bermuda event also begs the question of whether we will ever see more than seven Js race? If Endeavour and Rainbow change hands it is certainly possible. And there are still a number of original lines plans that could be commissioned as new builds.
It's in the hands of the owners to maintain the longevity of the class, says Dykstra designer Jeroen de Vos. Now the class is growing it will only appeal more to potential owners.
Whatever becomes of the America's Cup racing class in the next edition of the Cup, it would be a prudent decision for the new defenders to get an early invitation in to the J Class fleet to join in. That's how to guarantee a spectacle.
