If we're honest with ourselves for about five seconds: Gally is stronger than Minho

Don't get me wrong, spending every day in the Maze, running from Grievers (it's my headcanon that Grievers come out during the day, but only Sting at night), memorizing walls and building pattern recognition, and essentially risking your life every day definitely gives Minho the advantage. If it came down to a fight, Minho would win

but by pure muscle, Gally has it over Minho. That boy does nothing but run all day (which burns and uses up muscle like crazy; just search up any long-distance running athlete ever), meanwhile Gally is lifting pillars, handling wood beams, hammering nails, managing cinder blocks...

In fact, during the earlier days of the Glade, Gally would taunt Minho about this all the time.

It led to Minho deciding to be a Builder too. He still Runs every day, but at night, when he came back, he'd force himself to work the entire evening as a Builder. Just to shut Gally up.

He was eventually forced to stop by Alby, who didn't want his best Runner dying in the Maze because he was so exhausted from the double jobs (and who was also just concerned about his friend overworking himself), but those few weeks when Minho was a Builder were blessed silence from Gally, who, for once, had nothing to taunt him on.
