I think Reki’s sense of home and place is incredibly tied to the ocean.
yes, he’s young, and antsy, and he wants to travel everywhere. and he would love to see everything, genuinely, but in the long term he feels too strongly connected to the ocean and the island to ever truly stay away.
he wouldn’t do well if you took him out of a coastal region and dropped him in a major city. he’d feel too claustrophobic surrounded by all the concrete and bright lights. he’d enjoy it for a little bit but long term he wouldn’t be able to stand it, as much as he thrives off chaos he needs it to balance with contentment that comes from seaside towns.
the same goes for the mountainside, where it’s far too quiet and disconnected — it’d push him to restlessness without the energy that seems to simmer next to the coast.
he wants to travel and see everything but at the end of the day the ocean is what he grew up with, and he needs that to slow him down and pull him back to reality
#[ ☆ — headcanon » STUFF ABOUT ME DOESN’T MATTER !! ]#he'll leave okinawa some day#settle somewhere else for a little bit#be horrifically homesick for a bit because he's not sure to manage without the constant bustle of his homelife#but at the end of the day the seaside will always be home even if its not /his/ seaside#he'll always come back to the ocean even if its not always okinawa itself
