ive talked about this in depth a million times over but seanan mcguire choosing to mention him offhandedly within ghost-spider 2018 & 2019 as "being completely inaccessible in a shield holding cell!" is one of the worst fucking decisions that has ever been made within the spider-gwen comics. the impact of his death, and gwen subsequently making the choice to leave him to be killed off like a dog by the hand, is removed entirely; ONTOP OF the emphasis that murdock himself puts on his own want for suicide within jason latour's run -- the most important thing to murdock by the end of vol 2 was gwen killing him, and he couldn't even convince her to do that in a way that felt personal I Fucking Hate These Comics

in a perfect world murdock is dead and buried in the ground never to return thats all

#when she left him inside of that room; he had completely given up #they'd mutually come to the decision that he would not stop; that she could not change his mind #that no legal system could contain his actions; by insinuating that he was “put in jail!”#you're completely negating what was written in vol 2.#murdock dying is important & ultimately [i think] the best way you could close out his relationship with gwen but Whatever #ontop of like; if by some fucking miracle the hand hadn't managed to kill him #he would've committed suicide anyway. that was The Whole Thing #he lost everything he'd ever worked for in a self-sabotaging bide to get gwen on his side and in turn lost her too #he couldn't corrupt her in a way that he deemed meaningful; he couldn't bring her to work with him in a way that he deemed meaningful #<- & like ontop of all of that murdock wanted to prove to himself that this wasn't something that was innately wrong with him personally;#that he Could replicate what was done to him in gwen and have her turn out like him. and then he couldn't #by the end of vol 2 murdock is begging her to kill him and quite literally has nothing left to live for nor anything to fall back on #even If he had miraculously gone to jail; he would've killed himself there too #gwext
