Everyone was having a great time meeting Dick's new boyfriend, Danny. He had a weird mix of Jason and Dick's sense of humor, knew a ton about stars and inventing, and had tons of stories to tell about his and Dick's time together. Everyone having fun, however, meant that something had to go wrong. Even if it wasn't that bad. Or a big deal.
A glowing green post-it appeared out of thin air in front of Danny. "Oooh! Someone got a bingo!" He snatched it out of the air before it could touch his food. "Dang. I was hoping it was me."
Dick slowly set down his utensils. "Danny? Sweetheart? What's that?"
Danny looked up, noticing the others startled response to the post-it from nowhere. "This is the result of the Soul Bingo." He handed it to Dick, allowing him to attempt to read the names on it. There were 3, none of which were in English.
"Soul bingo?" Damian asked, eyes narrowing, hand tightening on his fork.
"Hm?" Danny looked over to Damian, realizing he hadn't explained why he had the Soul Bingo results. "Oh! Yeah. Clockwork told me he'd let me know when someone got a bingo. He convinced everyone to let me join the Bingo game. Too bad I didn't win this time." He shrugged, not looking like he minded all that much.
"What..." Tim started hesitatingly, "is Soul Bingo?"
"Soul Bingo is basically bingo, but instead of numbers your betting who, how, or why this guy named Constantine is going to sell his soul. Anyone that gets a bingo gets a favor from the Ghost King. And anyone that makes a soul contract with Constantine gives their rights to his soul to the Ghost King. It's not quite a win-win, but it does cut down on paperwork." Danny shrugged again, taking a bite out of his food.
The Bat clan took a moment to sort through what Danny had said and all the questions that left them with.
"One," Jason said, "who's Clockwork? Who's the Ghost King? Why are you participating in the Soul Bingo? How did you even find out about the Soul Bingo? Why's there basically a betting ring surrounding Constantine selling his soul? How-"
"Whoa. Slow down. If you're going to interrogate me, you need to let me at least answer your questions," Danny joked. "Can you repeat the questions?"
"Who's Clockwork?" Jason asked, taking a breath.
"Clockwork's my mentor. He's also in charge of making sure the timeline doesn't collapse." Danny took another bite of his food. "He's super cryptic most of the time. Next question?"
It was Steph that piped up this time. "Who's the Ghost King?"
Danny took a breath and squinted at the air above the table in thought. "His name is Phantom. He became Ghost King after he defeated Pariah Dark, the previous Ghost King. Pariah was a tyrant that wanted to destroy the entire world."
Bruce asked the next question. "Did he come up with the Soul Bingo idea?"
"Yeah. He was tired of everyone complaining about Constantine, and it was the best way to avoid getting the dude's soul ripped to shreds." Danny shrugged as though it was normal to casually mention ripping apart someone's soul.
"And why did you join this convoluted betting ring?" Damian asked.
"I could finally get a day off and not deal with paperwork. Or cryptic messages that I don't understand. Or threatened. Or the Observants. Did I mention I wouldn't have to deal with paperwork, because I feel like that's important." Danny pouted and crossed his arms.
"You get threatened at work?" Dick asked, alarmed.
"Oh yeah. It used to happen more often, but it's petered out now that I'm friends with most of them. Turns out I registered as a baby to ghosts when I first met them, and they were just playing with me. Not that I understood that," Danny grumbled at the end.
That didn't soothe anyone's worries. Too bad Danny is so difficult to get information out of.
Deciding to not deal with the concerning issue of Danny being in apparent danger at work, Bruce asked another question. "Why exactly did the Ghost King decide to turn making deals with Constantine into a bingo betting ring?"
"Well, he didn't want to have to deal with the enormous amounts of paperwork for one. For two, he felt bad for the guy. Everyone dies eventually, and having your soul ripped into 10 or more pieces would hurt. Except he sold his soul mostly to demons, and they all want the full soul. And they happen to be high on the food chain, so there'd be a war between those factions. So, King Phantom offers a favor in return for the soul contract with Constantine, he owns the dude's soul. But Constantine won't stop trying to make deals using his soul, so it was decided to turn it into a bingo betting ring. Everyone he makes a soul deal with goes to King Phantom. King Phantom offers them a small favor in return. Everyone that gets a bingo gets a small favor. Everyone's happy." Danny explained.
"Except Constantine, I'd assume," Tim said.
Danny shrugged, putting more food on his plate. "He's the one selling his soul to whoever's willing to buy it."
No one knew what to say to that, or what else to question Danny on in regards to Constantine's soul, so they moved on. The rest of dinner was a bit strained.
~ * ~
Batman called a meeting. A meeting about something so important that every Justice League and Justice League Dark member was asked, but not required, to be there. So obviously almost everyone showed up.
"What's this about Batman?" Wonder Woman asked, extremely concerned about about what could require so many people to deal with whatever this meeting was about.
"We're waiting," was Batman's response not moving from his seat. He was typing on his computer.
"For who?" Superman asked.
"Wait," Batman replied, glaring harder at his computer.
Everyone waited for fifteen tense silent minutes, when Constantine arrived. The attention snapped to him, still uncomfortably silent and tense. "What?"
Batman stood up, slamming his hands on the table, and glaring at Constantine. "You fucked up."
Oh shit. What did he do to piss off Batman to the point that the entire League needed to take care of it? "What did I do?"
"You caused an inter-dimensional betting ring that my future son-in-law is a part of," Batman replied. "You keep selling your soul and are potentially putting him in harms way. I'm extremely close to breaking my one rule, and the only thing stopping me is the sheer amount of people in this room that would stop me before I could even hope to reach you in order to do so."
DC/DP Constantine Bingo
When Danny gets crowned High King he gets loaded with mountains of paperwork all because of one John Constantine. So instead of dealing with it he turns Constantine's sold soul pieces into a currency for favors from the King. (Claming John's soul for himself to end all debates)
Then because Constantine will likely continue to sell his soul carelessly Danny makes an official decree that anyone who wants can create a 5 by 5 grid of beings/situations/etc. John will se his soul to and send it to Clockwork to officially enter the bingo, creating a realms wide bingo with prices. Along with this comes a ruling that of John comes to you and wish to sell his soul in return for a favor that you can do, you must accept, preventing people from cheating.
~~~
This of course makes John very paranoid. It suddenly got very easy to trade his soul and many beings even seemed eager to do it. Despite them knowing it would not give them the ownership of his soul.
~~~
What happens when Danny receives an update on the bingo, in the form of a green postit-note, in the middle of a dinner at Wayne manor.
It could either be a meet your partners family dinner or a adopted danny dinner.
Anyway now he either has to come clean about being a ghost, the ghost king, or make up a story about befriending ghosts and getting invited to the bingo that way.
Bonus points if Danny name dropps Constantine without knowing that the Wayne's are the bats and that John had shared his paranoia with his coworkers.
~~~
I am not a writer but if you like this and want to write it your self, be my guest, just tag me so I can read it👻👻
#dc x dp fic#ghost king danny#batman doesn't quite understand the betting ring#but that's because danny is allergic to giving information that makes sense#and giving people context#he's trying to protect his secrets#by leaving large gaps in the information he's giving them#that gives the bats the wrong idea#constantine is fucked#yes i know this is out of character#but i prefer the batman that tried to kill joker#but was stopped repeatedly by superman#because of bs immunity joker had#and the batman that's like “well the bad guy killed themselves with their own trap”#because he's got a no kill rule#not a “have to save everyone” rule#he beats the goons half to death#he let joker joker gas his best friend in order to save his and dick's secret identities#i stand by the theory that the only reason he saved joker that one time is because dick was having a mental breakdown over killing him#so technically canon's wrong
Yandere Batman (TAS) x Platonic Reader HCs.
I will say this, there is some Robin which is to be expected since he *is* Bruce's son canonically, but I dont think its enough to mention him in the title. I only finished the first season today (there are 60 episodes in the first jeez).
Hcs under cut.
He originally took an interest in you because of Robin. Robin was talking about how there was this new friend of his that had a cool sibling [you], and what kind of father would Bruce Wayne be if he didn't check out his son's friends? You just happened to be one of the people he investigated and he took an interest from there.
He saw that for a large portion of your time, you spent it alone. He felt bad, but he figured that everyone's trying their best, and maybe you spend it alone because that's what you like.
He would, of course, never tell Dick Grayson that he's stalking his friends and their [The friend's] family, but... he does mention you a couple more times than he should.
Robin mentions that the only reason he beat "the Riddle of the Minotaur" was because of you. Robin is slightly a yandere as well, but to be expected when his adoptive father is a yandere as well. Dick [Robin] likes to talk about you to Batman when there is some free time between the two, and this serves to further fuel Batman's yandere-ness. "Y'know, Batman, there's this friend of mine who..."
As Bruce watched you, he started noticing more and more things that made him pity you. He noticed that you would penny-pinch (you were saving up for something, but he chooses to ignore that in order to think you need him to finance your life), you would be different around adults versus people your age, (Adults get mad when you don't treat them with respect and you learned that very early one.) And so, as such, he started being a little delusional and thinking that you needed him (you've never even met him).
Alfred is slightly disappointed in Bruce for one, his delusions, two, for stalking you, and three, for impeding on his son's personal space.
Bruce, however, knows that Alfred would do whatever. Even if it meant keeping you here, in your new 'home'.
He would kidnap you at some point after a villains scheme that happens to have hurt you. It could be Joker's gas, a Penguin scheme with a bird that hurt you, or anything of the sort. Once you're hurt though, he brings you to the Batcave under the guise of 'I just need to heal them from [insert injury you got]'.
That would be how he kidnaps you. He just uses your injury to bring you to his house and then he won't let you leave, which is likely disorienting because it's either Batman, or Bruce Wayne who happens to be your friends dad and yet, now he claims you be yours?
He would never let you outside since he thinks you'll get hurt.
Robin would find out, but instead of being mad, he's slightly happy about this because now it means he has a sibling!
"C'mon Y/N, are you still mad about the kidnapping thing? Don't you wanna hang with me, Dick?"
"Kid. Why do you insist on making this difficult? If you would just accept that I can keep you safer than anyone else, you wouldn't be in this situation."
MY TOUGHTS ON PART ONE OF RED HOOD BY CHIP ZDARSKY :)
Finally I have read part one of the Red Hood story in Batman: Urban Legends!
This story is very interesting, we start with the Red Hood looking for the people who are providing Gotham with a new drug. This drug “Cheerdrops” has been passed around for weeks at this point and it has had devastating results among it's users. If you know Jason you understand that drugs are a big issue for him and one that he treats very carefully and seriously.
As he interrogates people he arrives to the building where one of the dealers of this drug is supposed to be, there he finds a horrific scene, a boy is desperately trying to wake up his mother who appears to have overdosed in her bed. Jason is quick to call an ambulance and get in contact with Oracle in order to find the boy's father who is (as he finds out later) the man that he was looking for.
Jason sees this scene and can't help but compare it to the time he went through this situation with his mom all those years ago, so he takes the boy with him so he can take him to his father, who Jason is hoping is a good man that had to sell drugs in order to help his family.
That's basically the premise of this first part of the story but now i will write about my thoughts on the specifics of the story.
The story begins with Jason giving a speech about fear and how it's used,
"Fear. Its a tool, it's his tool. I never really adopted it, maybe because he kept that fear all to himself." Then he continues with "Never had to rely on it, had to work harder to take out the bad guys, had to be...more direct." he finishes that thought with "Rubber Bullets. So that fear doesn't get turned around on me."
I for one really liked this Fear speech, it does really sum up what the Batman does, he relies on the Fear that he imposes on Gotham's criminals and such while Robin on the other hand was never meant to work with fear, which is true.
It did remind me of the speech that Alfred gave in issue #10 of Under the Red Hood about how Batman works with fear and Jason had some thoughts on it, here is some of it,
"Master Jason had a condescending practice of referring to the costumed criminals elements as 'dress ups'. He also noted that such individuals did not fear the Batman the way street thugs and mafioso did. The 'dress ups' did not believe he was a monster." "...the boy did say something to me that chilled me to the bone...even then. 'They all know he won't kill them.'"
Anyway let's go back to the actual comic I am talking about...
Jason speaks from his position as Red Hood in current time and says that he uses rubber bullets in order to keep the Bat at bay, the fear that the Bat uses against other criminals cannot be used against him if he plays within the Bat's rules.
As he was doing that he was actually trying to get info about who is making the drug but all he was able to get was who was selling it to the person he was interrogating. This drug is dangerous and Jason has to work fast.
Here is where we see the first flashback scene, we see Jason in the cave before he was able to go out as Robin and he is not to happy about it. The art is very beautiful but sadly in these panels i found my first problem with the context of Jason becoming Robin and how Zdarsky seems to set Jason's feelings on the first Robin.
It seems that Zdarsky is going for the “Jason believed Dick was the perfect Robin and no matter what he did he would never be as good as him” route, which fine ok, that's your right but, is it really necessary? I must admit i am a little tired of this particular thing because i adore the fact that when Dick and Jason first met they were fine with one another (even if a little wary at the very start). And the whole competitive and “i will never be as good as X person” is really tiring in the Robin/Batfamily fandom.
That problem is not as significant as the next one though.
Jason not thinking that Robin was “badass”. Well this is not only a bad take but it's completely OOC for Jason, no matter how you see it. From his first appearance as Robin to the flashbacks in Winick's UtRH and even through both of Lobdell's runs Jason has always loved the concept and the mantle of Robin as a child.
Batman v1, #385.
So that whole take is wrong, i don't like it and also who on this or any universe would rather call themselves Batboy? Honestly i hope this is never brought up again or i will cry. ((((Also in this house Robin will always be the name that Mary gave Dick and then he used as his hero name so it hurts a lot more))))
Also at the end of this first flashback Jason discovers a room full of firearms and is obviously surprised because Batman hates those so he asks why he has them, B responds that he has to understand how they work for his detective work, but that's not all he says, he also says this “...Guns are a coward's weapon, and we will not be cowards.”
Alright Mr. Zdarsky i see the irony... i also see the Daredevil / Punisher thingie right there.
Anyway we are now back to the present where we see Batman seeing the effects of the drug in one of its victims, after saving that person he takes some samples of the drug. We also get to see two police officers with different views on the “masks”, that's a nice way to set the story after the Joker War and before the Magistrate.
Back to Jason, he seems to be struggling, he can't find the people making/providing the drugs in Gotham and is also doubting his skills, he tells a man that if the information that he gave him is incorrect he “will find him” followed with another internal speech full of self doubt, “...sure thing Red Hood, right now you can't even find a street drug. Half of Gotham's teenagers could find it no problem. You never were the best detective.”
Alright, so Jason feels insecure about his skills now? First you have pre-Robin Jason not feeling like he could be able to keep up with the first Robin and now, Jason as a grown man has doubts about the skills that he has used for a long while now? I mean, press X for DOUBT because UtRH showed us how much of a badass and extremely skilled he is. This man planed everything in order to turn the Bat's world upside down (and this story has references to UtRH so it definitely happened) and now he feels like he is not that good?
Shit. i know where this is going, first the insecurities that he has already worked out... I can see it coming, the next big thing will be Daddy issues. Wonderful i hate it and i hope i am wrong because those “issues” are more than resolved, i know that's the only trope DC throws at Jason but honestly how different will it be this time?
Fine, lets move on. Jason finds himself in one of the apartments and what he sees is horrifying. Lying on a bed there is a woman completely catatonic with a horrible smile on her face and right next to her a terrified little boy.
Here is the best take on Jason's character so far.
Realizing that the child is scared of the situation and the masked man that just came into his home Jason takes off his mask and reassures the kid that he is there to help, it's quickly made obvious that the woman has overdosed on Cheerdrops, he makes sure to call an ambulance for her stating that she seems to be in a drug-related coma.
Its important to note that Jason is doing this as he is having troubling thoughts about how much this scene reminds him of the time he was in this little boy's (Tyler) shoes. Its hard for him but he soon realizes that he needs to make sure Tyler is safe.
He asks Tyler if he has another parent, he does and his name is Andy, after taking a look around the house Jason deduces that maybe the father is also taking drugs so if the police comes they will surely take Tyler and put him in the system, this idea is not one Jason is fond of so he calls Oracle, he asks if she can locate Tyler's dad's phone, when she asks about the kid Jason says that he will be the one keeping him safe.
Now we find ourselves back with Batman where he is investigating the components of Cheerdrops, he finds out that the drug is a modified version of Scarecrow's fear gas that gives the victim a sense of extreme happiness instead of fear.
Here we get confirmation of when in the timeline this story occurs, which is after the events of Infinite Frontier (where there was an attack on Arkham and many patients/prisoners were killed or escaped).
B suggests to Oracle that maybe Crane didn't die there and that he might be behind this drug, he will be on the job right away! To this Oracle is like well shit, so she tells B that Jason is also working this case...and here comes a funny yet confusing interaction.
Barbara says “I know you two aren't exactly friends right now but...” before she finishes Batman interrupts her by saying “He is a killer Barbara. I will do this alone.”
OH BOY is this interaction confusing! First of all may i point out how different this conversation is from the one in Three Jokers where the roles were basically reversed??? Please tell me that i am not the only one who finds that funny! Anyway that story doesn't matter here, but Red Hood Outlaw from Rebirth does, right?
Here is the thing, the last person that Jason “killed” in rebirth was Penguin and he actually didn't do it, he had him trapped in a panic room in his own Casino. Batman already beat the living shit out of Jason in RHatO #25 for it...and some time has passed, B surely found out that Jason didn't kill Penguin by now, i mean isn't he like the best detective to ever detective in the history of the universe??
Not only that but Jason has been using rubber bullets for a while and even at the start he mentions that, he basically implies that he is playing by the Bat's rules to keep him off his back. Maybe B hasn't let go of the duffel bag full of heads or any of the shitty people Jason killed during UtRH??? If B still holds that against Jason then why would he try to make Jason part of his Bat clan at the beginning of RHatO Rebirth?
Maybe he still thinks that Jason killed the penguin...but even then isn't B working with Harley and Ghost-Maker? You know, people who have killed? Why is Jason different? Did Jason kill someone recently that we don't know about? Jason only kills a very distinct set of people (that are very not nice) so i guess i don't see the logic...
Anyway second flashback, and this time we have a look at what was going on in the Batcave with B and Alfred during the events of UtRH! Nothing that wasn't explored in UtRH is said here but we do see Alfred explicitly telling Bruce how much they failed Jason. There is a heavy insinuation that the fact that Batman keeps sending the Joker to Arkham only for him to escape and kill more people actually makes B responsible for those deaths and i love that. Thank you.
Back to Jason and Tyler we get to see some very adorable scenes between the two. Jason gives the lower half of his mask to Tyler to protect his identity like a superhero and we have a really sweet moment in which Tyler chooses the Blue Hood as his name because he likes the colour blue (same Tyler).
After he leaves Tyler in a place where he will be safe he goes to the building where Andy should be and let me tell you the more Jason sees the less hopeful he becomes about Andy being just one of the people selling the drug... He does some shooting and incapacitating and then follows the man that is trying to escape and here is when shit hits the fan.
Andy is a disgusting human being. He hates Tyler's mother and doesn't care that she might be dead and the piece of shit hates his son so much that he gave a barely 10 year old drugs.
Yeah. BANG BANG BANG MOTHERFUKER.
If you think that this leads to Jason being a little more like his UtRH self, you know the guy that said that people who gave drugs to kids will get killed without a thought...yeah that's not happening, here comes the guilt!
I get it he just killed a man, but, did you read what that man said?
Anyway that's how the first part of this story ends.
The story is good. it has things that don't make much sense but i think it's because Zdarsky is a Batman fan and not a Red Hood fan in the sense that he doesnt know much about Jason's character and that this is his first ever DC work.
I cant wait to see where this story goes, while i hope “unresolved daddy issues” doesn't become a theme yet again in a Red Hood story i believe it's where we are headed. I will keep on reading because i am invested in Jason and Tyler's relationship and what is going to happen now that Jason killed Andy.
Let me know what you thought about the issue and my post if you want! Bye!
Damned Prince Of Gotham
Hello,
Due to the requests for Athanasia, Damian, Jason bonding I have been spurred into showing the first chapter of Damned Prince of Gotham.
When forces at play behind the scenes rear their ugly heads, of course they come in the form of Jason’s past. And of fucking course it won’t just stay in the closet with the rest of his fucking skeletons.
Ghosts Amongst the Living...
It was just after Thanksgiving, he had managed to survive PT, and no longer needed the fucking cane. Though Alfred had been kind enough to find him a cool cane with a sword in it. And the bigger bonus, he no longer needed his leg brace.
That was what brought him here.
It was the first time since her funeral he had come here. It was nice, quaint, peaceful, everything Gotham couldn’t be. Her grave marker was simple, how she’d have wanted it.
Rachel Roth, Beloved Daughter, Fearless Sister, Loyalist of Friends.
Slowly he crouched down, the flowers in his hand felt heavier. He saw that Ivy had planted a beautiful set of flowers here, something rare, and the gravesite was cared for. His leg was throbbing in protest, but he didn’t care about that, feeling the Pit burn through him in an attempt to heal him.
“Hey, been a while, little bird,” he whispered looking around the graveyard. “I’ll be honest, not really my scene, but you know me, going to go out in a blaze of glory, getting cremated the second time around but maybe they’ll lay those ashes here. You’d like it. It’s still, almost eerie, but in a peaceful sort of way.
“I survived Joker, killed the fucker. B’s pissed about that, but it helps Alina sleep at night. You know, Alina, B’s bastard daughter, she’s a sweetheart, her mom tried to keep her out of the Bat bullshit, which is fair. Her mom’s dead, OD on Joker gas, Cat and B took Alina in.
“Kori was murdered, it’s fucked up Dick. He’s got Jake, but it’s really fucked him up, Rae. He won’t even look at Jake, or Mar'i, and honestly, none of us know what to do. I didn’t think he was a drinker, I never thought that would be his poison, but he is, and god knows what else he’s doing, he’s not good Rae. And if you’re in touch with Kori I ask you to send her his way. I know it’s not fair, you’re at peace and all, but anything helps.
“Other than that, not a whole hell of a lot is happening here with us living folks. I miss you,” he said as he stared around them. “I miss you Rae. It’s nice, Roy, Biz, Kyle and Arty, they try. Never had friends who were so stubborn to cling on, but they just aren’t you. They aren’t you. And it’s not fucking fair you got to die and left me here,” he snapped. “I can’t even be mad at you about that because we were saving Mar'i, but goddamn it, it’s not fucking fair. Damn demon.
“And it’s really not fair I miss you; you were a pain in my ass. Don’t get me wrong, you were the Queen, but life was so much easier before you went about dragging me back to the land of the living. Now I can’t escape my siblings, and I watched the entire series of Game of Thrones. I blame you for that,” he warned her. “It was great, I started the books, but then I saw the last season, and Thank God you’re dead Rae, because it was awful. I don’t even get where the writers took that, it wasn’t good at all, and it… death is a mercy to watching that. And yes, I binged with the Replacement, Steph and Cass; in my defense I was on pain killers and on bed rest.
“I saw an advertisement for a Netflix show, looks very promising and interesting, but after Game of Thrones I hesitate to watch the genre. I think I should just stick to Jack Ryan; I binged that with the kiddies. Violet little blood suckers the lot of them. I mean seriously, Terry and Helena somehow talked me into letting them watch Bosch, Jack Ryan and Law & Order and shit like that with me, and B caught us, suffice to say we were all grounded, but then we did again. Being stuck in a bed sucks Rae.”
There was a snap which had his head snapping up, and he saw her duck behind a headstone.
“And also, little bird, they won’t leave me alone, I feel like a duck with a trail of ducklings. Over here Alina,” he called out. The small girl stepped out; he smiled a bit at her as he rolled to his feet. His leg screamed in protest. “Come meet little bird,” he said.
“I…I don’t want to intrude,” she said.
“You’re already here pipsqueak, might as well say hi to the reason we escaped the Joker,” he said and offered the twelve-year-old his hand. Alina hesitated but she darted up and accept it. “Alina this is Raven. Rae this is my newest of siblings,” he said.
“Hi,” Alina said softly. She was so shy and gentle, he wondered how the hell she could be B’s, but she was a Bat, he remembered that with how she had poisoned Joker. “You talk to her?”
“All the time. It’s a one-sided conversation, isn’t too different from when she was here.” True he and Rae bantered, and could have conversations, but for shit like this, she’d just let him talk. “She’s my best friend, Alina. I’ll always talk to her.”
“I talk to my mom,” Alina admitted. “And Mar'i talks to Kori. Is it normal?”
“Normal?” he snorted. “Is it normal, Rae? No, probably not, not to this degree, but Alina, we’re Bats, normal flew out the window. And you’ll find that as life goes on, there’s people you’ll want in your life and they’re the people you want to talk to. And Raven was my person, I’ll never stop wanting to talk to her.”
“You seem sure about that,” Alina said.
“Yeah, I am sure of it,” he smiled tightly. “I’ll see you around little bird.”
“It was nice to meet you,” Alina said to the grave. Jason offered Alina his hand again and they carefully navigated their way to where he had his car.
“How’d you get here?” he asked.
“Uber.”
~~~*~*~*~~~
She sat there in her warehouse typing code, as she studied the research of her current contract. It was about an AI program called Brainiac, she was employed with retrieving and destroying. Her cropped hair was ruffled in the slight breeze of her drafty hide out. She had settled in Stockholm off the grid from her grandfather’s grasp since Jason had helped her escape the League. She went by Lisbeth Head, it was a safe alias, one she created because of her favorite books, and because it was safe.
She had gone to Europe rather than America, it would be easier to hide if she was not worried about Bats noticing her. True she kept her identity to herself, and the only two who had met her didn’t know who she truly was.
She had altered her appearance since her escape, true she had drawn inspiration from her favorite books, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but initially it was because she was young and the impression it had hit her with was inescapable. Now it was because this look was the one she found worked for her. She looked intimidating without attracting too much attention and in many places she blended in. Short cropped hair, and piercings did so much to hide her, and the tattoos were a bonus; Ra’s had never come looking for her though.
Still, her vigilance was high.
One of her alarms sounded which had her looking over at her security monitors. Tearing her attention away from her work she studied her empty security monitors for the threat, slowly pulling away from her chess game with c4ff1n4t3dR3 as her hand picked up her glock. Eyes scanning over her monitor she tensed when the hairs on the back of her neck stood up which had her turning around as she turned off the power of her hide out and secured her workstation before exiting the area.
“You got comfortable,” a voice sneered, and she kept closer to the shadows.
“Been a long while Athanasia, or is it Lisbeth now?” he demanded.
She slid low, keeping silent.
“Mmm, still not talkative, thought that’d change,” he grumbled. Her heart was slamming mercilessly in her ribs as she scanned her warehouse for him. “Still doesn’t fucking matter,” he growled, she shot up where his voice had come over her and stood, spinning as she shot at him, moving back, grabbing a knife.
“Still have that hair trigger, babe!” he jeered, she was prepared.
She stood there in the dim light filtering into her apartment.
“Fuck you’re hot, but I’m here on business,” he snarled, she didn’t see him but she felt the hit on the back of her head which had her world disappearing as she crumpled to the ground. “Not fucking pleasure.”
~~~*~*~*~~~
He walked past his downed slave and straight to her work station. Breaking into it would’ve been tricky but the Light had seen to it he’d have the needed Skeleton Key. He didn’t spare Athanasia a glance, he had always had her as his shadow and companion until she took his eye in her escape from the League of Assassins. That fucking slave had interfered, and Grant remembered seeing red until he was down in the sand and about to be killed by the SOB. Of course no one killed that slave, and no one chased his slave, Athanasia, no one cared about them. They were slaves. Defective to begin with.
Still, he was pissed that she had run and hidden herself from him.
Athanasia had been his favorite pleasure slave, she always was a bitch to put up a fight.
No matter, he walked into her little room and saw her computers, working quickly he went for what he had been ordered to get. The program AI, he was aware he was stealing it from the theif who had stolen it from New Krypton. The Light wanted assassins and to do that his employer had to gain their favor before his rivals’ could make their moves. The League of Assassins wasn’t what it used to be, fracturing drastically with the death of Ra’s al Ghul.
The different fractions followed the different children of Ra’s.
“Is it done yet?” an impatient graveled voice demanded over the intercom.
“Almost,” he said.
“Hurry up.”
“Patience, Demon’s Thumb,” he warned.
“Father has no more patience,” she snapped.
“I got it, and extra information.”
“Destroy everything that remains, and dispose of the Failure.”
~~~*~*~*~~~
He lay alone in his bed in his warehouse, a huge bed and he couldn’t fucking sleep. He couldn’t even close his eyes.
Jason no longer had nightmares about his coffin or his death, or anything in his past, but he always saw them. He’d see her falling, her golden hair everywhere as the blood splattered from the impacts of the shots while she fell back and he struggled to get to her. Then he’d feel something colliding in him, larger and harder than a bullet, as a force moved him aside and he’d twist around in time to see Raven, her black hair flowing and her four eyes open to focus on saving, her soul was already attacking an armada and he saw the knife hit the side of her ribs, shoving her off her course, knocking her down as her body rolled from the impact, and he’d see Ryand’r there.
He couldn’t sleep.
All that blood, she was so small, she rarely bled, and there was so much blood. He could see them both, as one, Isobel and Raven, laying there, in near identical positions, their hands curled, and their hair fanned around them as they both lay there in a pool of blood, and he couldn’t sense their lives.
In the dreams Raven and Isobel were one in the same, some twisted mix of both them laying there, showing him the price of his failure.
He couldn’t sleep.
Sleep, Raven’s voice whispered in his ear, he could swear she was right there as he gave in and closed his eyes.

SAVING DICK || CHATZY
SUMMARY: Harley, Selina, and Jonathan fight The Court of Owls. They also go to Batburger. TRIGGERS: Violence. WRITTEN BY: @harlsquinns, @fromselinakyles & @thegooddoctorcrane
Selina: Selina hated cars but it was the only mode of transportation that would get them to Gotham efficiently. Motorcycles were her preferred method and as she sat in traffic, she confirmed the reason why. "Imagine if they were expecting us? God..." She ran a hand through her hair, the other on the wheel, eyes on the road. They had all been relatively quiet which was nice but also strange. She was used to a chatty Harley and well, when she was alone with Jon, they had plenty to talk about. She looked over her shoulder and beside her with a small smile. "The GPS said it should be another twenty minutes. Are we doing okay?"
Jonathan: Johnathan sighed from his place in the backseat. He, unfortunately, got shoved in the back by Harley, who called shotgun before they even saw the car. Which goes against the rules, but who cares. He slumped over, not happy to be confined in the back as if he were in the BatMobile. It was awkwardly silent in the car, despite Selina's attempts to start conversation. "I'm doing just dandy." Jon said from behind his mask, happy neither of the other people in the car could see him roll his eyes.
Harley: Harley was content to be in the front seat, sitting next to Selina. It was probably unfair to call shotgun and make Jon go in the back, but she was still feeling a little bitter towards him for not immediately telling her he had kissed her best friend. She smirked when he spoke up, knowing that he was probably suffering some severe leg cramps, and was not feeling dandy at all. Turning her head, she smiled at Selina. "I'm doin' just fine. There's so much leg room here in the front. In fact, I think I'm gonna put my feet up on the dash," she said, then did exactly that. "Let's play a game. How 'bout two truths an' a lie?"
Selina: Selina bit her lips, eyes on the traffic, wishing it would clear out soon. She had a feeling this wasn't going to go well and Jonathan's retort coupled with Harley's truly cemented that. "Did you guys maybe want to get something to eat? I can get off at the next exit?" And then Harley spoke of a game. It would be a terrible idea especially with everything Harley now knew. "I--don't know..." She changed lines when she got an in and flipped the bird at someone who tried to cut her off. "I know, asshole! I was here first. yeah yeah!" She kept her middle finger up as the guy next to her continued cursing at Selina. "Yeah, sure. Two truths in a lie."
Jonathan: "I could go for some food. And I don't want to play a game." Jonathan scoffed and set his leg on the back of Harley's chair and put his weight on it, trying to make her ride as uncomfortable as possible while expending the least amount of energy. He didn't even bat an eye at Selina at Selina's road rage, having been used to it since he moved here many years ago.
Harley: Harley nodded when Selina mentioned food, suddenly feeling very hungry. She'd skipped breakfast in order to get ready for this little adventure, so she needed to eat before she ended up getting snappy. "I'd love food. How about Batburger?" she asked, then scrunched up her nose when she felt Jon pushing against her seat. It was making her very uncomfortable. While Selina was distracted with road rage, she unbuckled her seatbelt, turning herself around and half hanging over the front seat. "Ya wanna go, Jonny?" she asked a little too aggressively, then smacked down his leg with her hand. "Keep ya big ol' tarantula legs ta yerself!" She didn't even care about her game anymore.
Selina: Selina was glad they had both agreed on food but she was already frazzled by the man that kept egging her on. "I'm going to kill him." She murmured, gripping the wheel. Once traffic began to move a bit more, she pressed on the gas to try to avoid this guy but he kept following and Selina watched him from her mirror. Harley and Jon were already at is and she knew exactly why. When Harley smacked Jon's leg, she looked over her shoulder and glanced at him, pleading with her expression to try. "Guys. Please. Let's try to make it through the last 15 minutes before we get to Batburger." She sighed when the car sped up beside her and told her to roll her window down calling her every name in the book. Selina just smiled and tilted her head. "Are you done?"
Jonathan: Jon used his other leg to push Harley back into her seat, with some difficulty. He muttered a few select curse words under his breath as he slid to be behind Selina so Harley couldn't reach him. Jon glared at the man cursing her out from the safety of his car. "I could do something about him." He said as Selina tried to pass him, but failed. "I refuse to respond to you Harley. I'm not going to fight you." You said as he returned his legs to their uncomfortable place, where they belonged in his limited amount of leg room. "We're villains, Selina. We can do something about this jackass tryin' to run us off the road. That's reckless drivin'. We're helping the community."
Harley: Harley kept swatting at Jon as he pushed her away with his leg, feeling very stressed that his shoe was touching her expensive jacket. It did amuse her to see him swap sides, though. She glanced out of the window at the guy that was causing Selina trouble, then back at Jon. "Oh, you refuse ta respond ta me?" she asked, turning herself to sit properly again, and fastening her seatbelt. "Sounds like yer backin' down ta me!" Even if she wanted to sucker punch Jon right then, she did agree that the guy being rude to their friend needed to be dealt with. "If he ain't payin' fer our gas, or ridin' in our car, he needs ta get wrecked," she said with a shrug. "Next time we pull up next ta him, I can get out and slam his face into his steerin' wheel?"
Selina: Selina, at this point had drowned everyone out, nodding without thinking and not realizing she had just agreed with Jon and Harley. She didn't want to cause a pile up and she certainly didn't want to get them killed. After everything, all the planning to get Dick back and the good night she had with Jon, she really didn't want to ruin any of that by landing everyone in an ER but this guy deserved at least a hit to his bumper to scare him off. "he thinks he can scare me because I'm a woman. Yeah, jackass, pull over! PULL OVER" really she just wanted his license plate number but her friends had something else in mind
Jonathan: Jon scrunched his face and looked back at Harley. "No. I'm just refused to go along with your childlike games.". His face then flew out in surprise as Selina yelled at him to pull over. They probably had the perfect timeline to drive to the restaurant, and then to the meeting point. Brawling with some idiot in the street was not part of the plan, but Jon didn't care. Selina knew best. He readjusted the fear canisters lined on his chest, ready to throw one through the idiot's window. Not for insulting his... whatever him and Selina was. But for being an asshole. And wasting his time.
Harley: Harley was seething when Jon said the word 'childlike'. She was not a child, and she was perfectly serious about fighting him. There was more to her anger than just him pressing his leg against her seat, but Selina would be mad at her if she told him that she knew about the kiss. But she would find the right time to mention it — maybe when they were at Batburger. She grinned when her friend told the guy to pull over, and took the lid off the wooden box at her feet. It had been forever since she'd used a cupcake bomb, and she'd changed the way they worked. Instead of causing a huge explosion, they now had just enough power to blow up something small. If the guy was lucky, he'd survive with a couple of major injuries. "Alright, Sel... I'm gonna need ya ta floor it when I do this," Harley said, grabbing one of the bombs. "1... 2... 3!" she yelled, then leaned over Selina to throw the weapon through the wound down window, and into the guy’s car. "Go, go, go!"
Selina: Selina was ready to write down the number, satisfied with being right in knowing the guy would stop. Of course. He was a dick. She rolled her eyes but before she could even begin jotting it down, Harley and Jon were already doing their own thing and without hesitation, she floored it, stepping on the gas and getting off at the exit for Batburger. "Holy shit." She smiled widely , winding through the roads, finding an alternative way that didn't put them on a main street. "I really hated that guy! Whoo!" She gripped her steering wheel, tires screeching as she pulled into the drive thru. She ordered what she wanted and waited for Harley and Jon to do the same before parking the car in the lot. A bit into her fry and she felt a lot better. She messed Harley's locks with a grin and then looked over her shoulder towards Jon. "How's your shake, Jonny?"
Jonathan: "Fine. Despite them bastardizing my name." Jonathan as he offered the cup to Selina for her to take a sip. He tried not to make his newfound relationship with Selina hidden. Not that he was ashamed, but rather didn't want Harley sticking her nose in his personal business. This was all so scary and new to him. He realized he was just a stand in for Ivy on their little team, but he didn't mind. It was quite nice to be in a team. He was about to be in a even larger team full of people that have probably tried to kill him at some point. Well, no different than hanging out with the rogues.
Harley: Harley was happy to see that Selina was pleased. She had tried so hard to remain on the good side of the law, but sometimes you had to be bad. It was just the way things were. When they pulled into the Batburger drive-thru, Harley ordered a Bat-Mite meal, along with a Harlequinade. When asked if she wanted to Jokerize her fries, she shrunk back into her seat and declined. Once the food was given to them, she immediately felt calmer. "Heeeey!" she said with a grin as Selina messed up her hair. Nothing could've prepared her for the sheer shock she felt when Jonny offered Selina his shake. "Swappin' spit again, I see," she said with a mischievous smile, then dug around in her box for her toy. "Aw, look! I got a mini Riddler!" she said, kissing the little figure and putting it on the dashboard. "Anyone want a nugget?" Considering they were about to go and take on the Court of Owls to save Dick Grayson, Harley was feeling pretty good about life.
Selina: Selina watched her best friend with a smile, glad to see her calmer. Of course all they needed was some food. She felt herself feeling better too, wanting to move forward to help save her son. When Jon offered his shake, she took it from him with a smile,her fingers brushing against his. "Thanks." She sipped from the second straw she had placed in it and closed her eyes. "Okay, that's so good." She grinned. "And next time I'm getting a Bat-Mite meal. I want a mini Riddler." She laughed softly and leaned back.
Jonathan: "Again?" Jonathan repeated and looked at Selina. Did she go around and tell the whole world about what they were doing? "Also no one wants a mini Riddler. I can barely stop myself from strangling the one we have now." he said, leaning back and taking up the entire back seat. He cracked his knuckles loudly as he stared up at the ceiling, peeling off the top of his mask as he did so. He never knew it could get so hot in New York City. Gotham was in a eternal state of drowsy weather. This, was bullshit. "Can we go over what we're doing exactly?"
Harley: Harley couldn't help but laugh when Selina put another straw in the milkshake, as if she were making a point. "Yeah, Jonny. Again. It's okay, yer secret is safe with me." She had no intention of telling anyone else what had gone on between Scaredycat, because it wasn't like anyone she knew would care all that much. Plus, it wouldn't have been fair to them, and she was trying this new thing where she tried to respect people's privacy. She gasped dramatically when Jon talked badly about Eddie, and grabbed her Riddler toy again, sliding it into her jacket pocket to keep him close — she was a little worried her friend in the back would try and melt it with a lighter, or throw it out the window. "Eddie is the best, Jonny. Please don't ever strangle him." When he asked if they could go over their plan, Harley nodded in agreement, and took a sip of her drink. "Yeah, let's talk about it one more time. We can't afford ta make any mistakes. This is the Court of Owls we're dealin' with... They'll come for us in our sleep if we screw this up. An' we won't stand a chance against 'em all alone."
Selina: Selina smirked at the banter between Harley and Jon. She knew that Jon liked Harley and he was just being moody, really. "Thank you, Harley. I appreciate that discretion." Though she didn't know what they were covering up. They hadn't discussed details and that was fine considering she never knew what she was with Bruce. This thing with Jonathan was nice though and it was fine they were going at their own pace. "Please don't strangle our Eddie, Jon." Selina finished off her fries and turned in her seat so she could address the two of them. "Right. Well, I told Oracle we'd go in and cause a distraction. Do what we do best Mayhem. The Titans will be waiting not too far behind us and swoop in for the rest. According to her, there is someone who will be going after Dick. I think the main mission is to get these guys distracted. We'll go in there, ruffle some feathers and leave and we have to take some guys down, well we crush them." She had no problem with taking down the Court to save someone she loved but she also did not want to put Harley and Jon in any danger. "We stick together. I can't have either of you hurt. Understood?"
Jonathan: "Understood." Jon said. Causing mayhem was something he did well. But the Court of Owls was... strange. An unknown variable in their little experiment. He herd about them a few years after he started living in Gotham, from a kid in his class who later disappeared. As a whole, Rogues messed with each other a lot. But never the Court. In his long pause to consider his course of action (throw in fear canisters and kill anyone that tried to break from the norm), they had started driving to the meeting point. Jon could tell Selina was on edge, but she had every right to be. A lot was on line.
Harley: Harley nodded when she was thanked for keeping the kiss a secret, and leaned back, putting her feet back up on the dashboard while Selina talked about the plan. She was a little worried about taking on the Court of Owls, now that they were talking about it. They were a powerful group, and extremely feared throughout Gotham. It seemed a little suicidal to take them on, but they had to do it. Dick's life depended on it, and he'd saved Harley's life enough times for her to care about his. There were times when he could have easily killed her, along with Batman, but he never did. She owed it to him to go against these people, and set him free. "Okay. We stick together, an' cause mayhem. Got it. I'm perfectly okay with a lil' murder if it gets Dick home."
Selina: Selina tried to put up a front for Jon and Harley but it was getting more and more difficult as they approached the warehouse. She felt the lump form in her throat, zipping up her catsuit and gripping her bullwhip. "So do we just...go in?" She mumbled. So much for being a fearless leader. She pressed the earpiece into her ear. "Oracle? Do we just barge in." And then the redhead told her to go through a side entrance. The security cameras had already been taken out by a virus. "Side entrance. Let's go. Stick together. Promise?" She turned around to face her friends one last time. She had been in the grasps of a Talon before, saved by a fellow Rogue. What if she didn't have that luck this time around?
Jonathan: "We'll be fine. Dying for a good cause is for the good guys." Jon said as he made sure his mask was situated over his face before stepping outside, electing to stay close to Selina to hopefully give her some semblance of comfort. And, after looking around at the people nearby, hopefully she could protect him. He already knew Babs from throwing her off a building, so suffice to say they had trouble seeing eye to eye. She did trust Selina, so he was somehow invited. He stuck near Selina's side, not wanting to wonder off now.
Harley: Harley waited until Selina got the go-ahead from Babs, then got out of the car. She made sure that she had enough bullets to take down an army, and attached two cupcake bombs to the belt hanging off her hips. "If we get separated, then we do our best ta get back ta each other, okay?" She twirled her baseball bat in her hand, then followed after her friends. Out of all of them, she was probably the least scared about fighting alone, if she had to. There weren't many things she feared when it came to mass chaos — she did of course have a higher sense of danger now that she was saner, but nothing would ever take away her thirst for a good fight. In fact, she was getting quite excited now. If the three of them hadn’t been practically holding hands, she'd have probably already wandered off to clonk someone on the head.
Selina: Selina led the way, following the directions in her earpiece. "You're cutting out." she whispered, looking around and realizing they were probably so deep into Jersey that it was hard to stay in contact. She knew this would be a possibility and right when she was about to say anything else a sound coming from behind them made her turn around. They were surrounded by at least 15 others and he took a few steps back. "Ok. change of plans. Spread out." She grabbed the handle of her bullwhip, raising it up and letting it fall to the floor with a hard crack. She took one good look at her friends before snapping the weapon out of a Talons hand.
Jonathan: Jonathan opened a canister of tear toxin to flow through his glove, and unsheathed his scythe. Finally, there were seeing some sort of action. The blood pumped through his ears as he carefully made his way towards the group, glad he chose a longer-ranged weapon. He did not want any of these creeps to get closer than they had to. It was time to end this conspiracy once and for all. He wondered what a court of owl member's greatest fear was. Swinging his weapon and sinking his claws into whichever member dared to get too close seemed like a viable option for now.
Harley: Harley was surprised when Selina told them to spread out, but when she turned around, she saw why. Her heart pounded in her chest, and a grin spread across her face as she unholstered her gun. "It's playtime, freaks!" she yelled, then fired her gun, her bullets piercing through the chests of a few Talons. It was stupid to use so many bullets so quickly, but she couldn't take any chances. As a member moved closer to her, she backflipped through the air and landed in front of them. This was such a rush! She used her bat to hit them in their freaky owl face. "Are you guys okay?" she shouted as loudly as she could, looking around for her friends.
Selina: Selina gripped the end of her whip and she tried to come up with a strategy. She's dealt with these things before and her first encounter wasn't a pleasant one. She snapped her whip against a Talon's face if they wanted to call it that and kicked another straight in the chest. "Come on." She whispered, egging them on despite the fear she felt. Out of her three friends, she was probably the least prepared. No guns, no bombs, no toxin. She relied heavily on her combat skills and these guys were even more trained than she was. "Two? That's it?" She cracked her whip again, about to answer Harley's call when one picked her up by the neck. Selina felt the air cut quickly from her lungs and Babs screamed in her com, pleading for her to get out. "I would if I c-ccould, Oraclee. Tied upp." Her legs dangled in the air as she tried to break away from his hold and once she kicked him in the abdomen, he dropped her to the floor. Selina tried to crawl away but there were already four more on her tail. "Oracle give me something. There's too much. It's like they multiply..."
Jonathan: Jonathan looked back in time to see Selina surrounded. He went over and beheaded 2 of them in a row to hopefully give Selina some time to stand up and get her act together. He looked at both of his weaponed hands and made an executive decision. He yelled "Catwoman, catch!" before tossing his scythe at her. he would be fine with just her glove, plus they needed to hurt these guys, and he could tell Selina was losing faith in her whip. He stabbed another member in the next with his glove, and watched as they fell screaming to the floor. He has glad he remembered to pack the quickest version of his toxin, not any of the slow release stuff he's been studying so intensely for the past few months. And he packed enough toxin to scare a whole nation.
Harley: Harley spotted Selina getting picked up, and immediately tried to get to her. The last thing she wanted was to lose her best friend. Grabbing a cupcake bomb from her belt, she threw it at the group coming towards her friend. It wouldn't stop all of them, but it'd keep away at least three or four — but it still didn't stop the others rushing towards her. It was hard to keep fighting while she knew Selina was in danger, but she continued to put her gymnast skills to good use, dodging and jumping, and using the walls to her advantage. It was easy to parkour off them, due to her lithe frame and skillset. Eventually, she was close enough to Selina to help her. With Jon's scythe she'd be a little safer, but Harley didn't trust that these people wouldn't group up on her friend again. She knew that Jonathan would be fine, because she could hear the bloodcurdling screams of his victims. "Sel, are ya okay?" she asked, pressing her back against the other woman's as she continued to shoot any owl that came towards them. She only had one bomb left, and she knew she had to save it for if they got into really bad trouble.
Selina: Selina caught the scythe, giving Jon a quick nod and did the same when Harley came to her, giving her best friend's arm a quick squeeze. "The comms went out. I can't get Oracle." She took a few steps back and swung at a Talon. "Hey, Scarecrow, I like this. I'll be borrowing it in the near future." She grinned, gaining some confidence and going after a few more. "We're surrounded. Where are those Titans?"
Jonathan: "I have no idea. I'm not the one with the communicator." Jonathan said as he kept on stabbing the members. He definitely had some sort of bounty on his head with how many of them he was taking out. They were surrounding them, which never seemed like a good idea. Soon, he found himself back to back with Selina and Harley. He never really liked the Titans before, but now he was almost praying for them to swoop in.
Harley: Harley felt Jon bump into them, and it was clear now that they were going to lose — but she never did like losing. Adrenaline paired with excitement was coursing through her, and she kept shooting as she spoke, using her bat with her other hand to keep Talons away from her. "Okay, we gotta stay safe until the Titans arrive. Once they're here, we're good to book it!" She took the last cupcake bomb off her belt, trying to figure out where to aim it. "I'm gonna take out the ones directly in front of me. Jonny, you take the left. Sel, you take the right. Then we just... We fight like we're playin' Mortal Kombat until we can leave." She pushed her friends back a little, then threw the bomb. "Alright, let's do this!"
Selina: Selina nodded at the instructions and when Harley called out the okay, she went running, stabbing a couple of Talons on her way towards an area where her friends could follow. "There." She pointed and pressed the earpiece to her ear and right when she was about to call for help, she heard the Titans swoop in. "That's our cue! Let's get out of here!" And she got rid of a few more assailants, choking one with her whip and letting them fall to the ground. Once they reached the outside, she looked over her shoulder to make sure they were both there. "Oh God. We just did that! We did that!"
