I thought the exact same thing, but I actually really like the detail that Rouge didn't bring up Amy.
Not because Amy isn't important or anything, but because it implies that Amy never told anyone about what she did on the Ark. She's one of the only people able to talk Shadow down; she was the one who convinced him to fight along Sonic and save the world, to give up on Gerald's revenge plot and realise what Maria truly wanted. She played one of the most crucial roles in saving the world that day, and she never took the credit for anything.
Sonic and Rouge are funny because Shadow really doesn't listen to them like 80% of the time (literally him not listening to Rouge or Sonic and it fucking him up has been a small, repeated theme in the comics for years lmao), but they're still two of the very few people he trusts and respects the most. It was Rouge who got him and Omega to calm down and avoid destroying each other before making them form a team together-- a team he's still part of to this day. It was Sonic who talked him out of destroying Mr. Tinker and managed to get him to give him a chance. And that's just two examples. But I think what's being emphasised here is that he's a stubborn, unrelenting bullet a lot of the time with them in a way he never was with Maria, and in this situation he likely wouldn't have taken a compromise or objection from either of them the way he would've with her. Rouge isn't Maria, someone he'd listen to 100% of the time, especially when it comes to matters like these. But she's alright with it, willing to be his partner in crime in stealing a spaceship from their boss and have him socialise at a birthday party in exchange when she knows she can't beat his stubbornness (not that she even tried she was so onboard from the start XD).
Amy: “Am I a joke to you?”

Awww, querida! Thank you so much for your ask 😊😘

🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
I'll share a few things about the Once Upon a Summer (D&D AU), because I'm obsessed with teen!Liz and teen!Hamid.
Liz and Hamid will be in debating society together, they'll support each other and he'll make things more bearable for Liz in general, like introducing her to his friends and sharing insights about students, teachers and the dynamics in that campus;
Liz and Hamid had met members of each other's families, in the past;
Maria, Liz's mother, is still alive, and they live at Grovershire, that is a village at Edgewater's county;
Hamid loves sweeties and gift-giving, and he offers treats to people he likes;
Hamid's first kiss wasn't with Liz, and he had a girlfriend before they met;
Liz went to the Live8 concert at London (2005) and watched it very close to the stage because her father is friend of sir Paul McCartney and Bono Vox - Hamid doesn't know either of them, but wish he did.
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
It was an idea for a future dialogue from Second Chances. It makes little sense as it is now, but it's not hard to know who this is about 😉
"You worry about the future and don't allow yourself to live the present."
🥐 ⇢ name one internet reference that will always make you laugh
I have quite a few. There are so many videos and memes that always make me laugh, but lately I'd have to say it's Miette (the cat, the queen, the legend). Miette has become part of my family's inside jokes and we had to spread the knowledge about who Miette is...😅 i realize we are very random people, but we get our share of laughter
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
I've gathered inspiration for dialogues and settings from many movies and TV shows, but maybe Gilmore Girls is one that always inspire me (for the good and the bad), I love the quick dialogues, the pop culture and literary references, and I may or may not have been inspired by a particular dynamics on Once Upon a Summer (Desire & Decorum AU).
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
Pure critism is easier...😅 let me think about the constructive kind...
Thinking about my writing in general, I noticed some of my paragraphs are still too long; sometimes it slows the flow or make things confusing. That's something I should look more carefully during editing, especially when working on academics and original works (though it's haaard to not be so wordy and fill my texts with all the commas etc). Also passive voice, I know it can became an issue to pacing and all that...
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
If the characters are writen OOC it usually bothers me and I've quit reading stories because of that. And if it's done in a way exclusively to enhance another character's narrative and make them look better (especially if it's one of the fave white males in the fandom) I'll definitely click away... Fics that are not properly tagged bug me too, and depending on the content I'll probably click away. Racism, xenophobia and harmful/stereotypical portrayals are also a no for me.
I hope you're well too and am wishing you a lovely day/night, Lori! 😘

S2 Ep 50: In a Handful of Dust
Oh my, really 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤦♀️ No, I can't, I'm dissolving into laughter 😆 Saving the world, nooo not these too 🤣
So, okay, first of all. Ned wants to be called Ned, so no deadnaming here. Nice to have this settled. Even though he seems to be the one or a part of those who were leading this whole experiment, according to his words. And Morrison was his puppet. I'm not sure how Ned was going to embody his character after consuming him though, their personalities are kind of too different. While Ned may be a shifter, his last and present personalities really don't differ. He's the same. Morrison is a completely different person though. He's rock solid while Ned is very flowy. I wish he managed to finish his sentence when he saw Dr. Park and was frozen for a few hours that let Dr. Park lead the rescue operation and save everyone. He sounded genuinely frightened, and I'm not sure if it was because of the prospect of being frozen. He and Sam were getting somewhere. That's what Ned said he is: he lies. I don't know how much he lied this time, but for some reason I still can't believe he was the real enemy. He did sound upset that Bill had to be brought into all that. And while he was clearly stalling there with Sam, not in a hurry - maybe he felt he's in no danger, I don't know, but still - he didn't seem too eager to stop them either. This seems to be more complicated that it looks like.
And now dr. Park. He comes with a solution ready at the last moment and saves the day. Hooray! Or not? He has a lot to tell, the events took a drastic turn, but… He still looks suspicious to me. An organization working on changing the future? A whole good organization? I'm honestly getting the Spines vibes here. I don't trust them. Anna was working with them, according to Ren Park. She left them a will. But she did not tell Kate to go find him. She said "Find Bailey and Maria". Considering she worked with dr. Park and he had the means to help them all along? Of course Park said Anna thought the team plays some big role in what they are trying to do… I don't know. I don't trust them so far anyway.
Season 2 left off on an informational cliffhanger - everyone's safe, Morrison was left down there with all the creatures he tortured let loose (although Park said he's not easy to kill so he's most likely alive, but I HOPE he suffered. Played by Ned or not, he chose this path himself. Ned said it - creatures like him can push a person a bit to where they need to, but they can't make them do what they don't want to in the first place.), Ned's frozen for some time, time for answers!
Except the answers are due for the next season 🎉🎊 Good it's already out.
Anywho, I hope Ned isn't really the enemy and he and Sam will have some bonding time because ffs! They are alike by nature and I like their dynamic! There's so much to explore! And Kate and Bill were the highlight of the episode. So much kindness. If this whole journey doesn't fuck them up, I think they are going to be really close friends. Oh, and Maria smacked Morrison with a hammer, hard. Twice. As a treat. There was a wet sound… a few. Thank you, girl 💝
Also TST is written by an ace person and it shows. I thought this was just dumb luck at first - how romance and meaningful relationships are present but not shoved into the listener's face, and, more importantly, how many OTHER meaningful relationships are there and they are prominent. I mean, in mostly any other story? Bill wnd Kate would have had a thing. Even I have to constantly remind myself they both already have partners they love dearly, because of this deep connection these two share. And I REVEL in it. I LOVE what they have. That's kind of friendship I wish to have. Maria and Sam? They feel a lot like brother and sister who are sort of at knives' ends with each other but also… there's an undeniable bond. I think they are going to become good friends if they have a chance, too. And this just keeps happening! There are different relationships between all the team members, and they do feel like a bunch of actual living people who interact with each other. Is this paradise?..
In short, I should be sleeping but I think I'll listen to S3 Ep 1 instead.

We All Have Secrets
Request: Yes or No
Finally gonna give the straights some attention lmao. Also, I'm not completely sure what (Y/N)'s secret should be so suggestions would be appreciated.
TW: Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia
~
(Y/N) looked down at his phone, smiling softly as he walked. He quickly answered a text from Isabela.
'Isa, just tell them to keep it a secret. Nat and Mari would never tell anyone. Raul wouldn't tell anyone either.'
"Baby!" Maria called, smiling widely as she approached him. (Y/N) slid his phone into his pocket, arms wrapping around his girlfriend and lifting her up. Maria giggled, leaning in and kissing him gently. (Y/N) put her down, tucking a strand of Maria's black hair behind her ear. Maria's gaze softened, forehead resting against (Y/N)s.
"Hey, lovebirds!" Dario called, waving them over. (Y/N) chuckled, taking Maria's hand and pulling her along towards where their friends were sat at.
"Why can you two be like Maria and (Y/N)? They don't try eating each other's faces off every five seconds." Dario crossed his arms, looking at Isabela and Pablo. Isabela scoffed and rolled her eyes while Pablo chuckled. (Y/N) sat down, smiling when Maria sat on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at their friends.
"How did the Nona thing go?" (Y/N) asked softly, gazing at his girlfriend. Maria hummed, smiling.
"I think Nat did a great job." Maria shrugged lightly, pecking his cheek before she opened her lunch bowl. Maria got some of her salad, raising it up to (Y/N)'s lips. (Y/N) smiled, opening his mouth and happily taking the food. Natalia leaned forward, frowning and looking at Gerry.
"What's up with Rosita? Why is she coming over here? Is she gonna be sitting with us everyday?" Natalia asked, disgust evident in her voice. Gerry ignored her, grinning widely and extending his arms towards the girl.
"Hey, how are you?" Gerry asked as Rosita approached them and sat on his lap. (Y/N) shared a look with Maria, chuckling softly and shaking his head. Natalia blinked in shock as Rosita and Gerry began to make out.
"Gerardo! Gerardo, stop it! Seriously? If you're gonna be doing this, find somewhere else." Natalia huffed, glaring at the couple.
"Don't be envious." Rosita said, pulling away and looking at her.
"It's not personal, Rosita. If someone sees you here, they'll think anyone can sit with us." Natalia said, shaking her head lightly. Rosita scoffed, rolling her eyes and standing. As she walked by, she knocked over Natalia's new purse.
"Don't you know how much this cost, idiot?" Natalia huffed, picking up her purse. Maria frowned, shaking her head.
"Oh, just leave her alone already. Poor Rosita." Maria said. Natalia scoffed.
"Poor Rosita what? She needs to learn her place." Natalia grumbled, zipping up her purse. Isabela turned her head, looking at (Y/N).
"Hey, (Y/N), you want something from the vending machine?" She asked, brow quirking. (Y/N) got the hint, nodding.
"Yeah, sure." He smiled, looking at Maria. Maria licked her lips, standing up so (Y/N) could get up.
"You want something, gorgeous?" (Y/N) asked, giving her a small smile. Maria shook her head, returning the smile as she sat down. Maria watched Isabela and (Y/N) walk away, slight jealousy bubbling in her stomach. She tried pushing the feeling away, knowing (Y/N) and Isabela were just good friends.
"Why wouldn't Pablo want me to come out to my friends?" Isabela asked, frowning and she looking at (Y/N). (Y/N) licked his lips, shrugging.
"Lots of reasons.. He's not ready, he doesn't want the news to spread, he thinks he'll get shit for it." (Y/N) listed off, taking out a dollar and looking over the snacks. Isabela sighed, scratching her forehead.
"All I heard was him, him, him. What about me?" Isabela shook her head, frown on her face as she sighed deeply. (Y/N) got some dortitos, looking at Isabela.
"Don't stress, Isa. You do what you want. If I were you, I wouldn't tell Gerry or the other two idiots. They're already misogynistic and homophobic. You know how they treat Luis who has never done anything to them. They still make jokes about me cheating on Maria with a guy." (Y/N) frowned, opening the bag of chips.
"I just.. I don't want Pablo to get mad at me." Isabela said, rubbing her arm. (Y/N) hummed, sighing.
"Well, Maria can keep a secret. You can start by telling her." (Y/N) said softly. Isabela gave a small smile and nodded, getting a small snack and heading back as lunch ended. Maria perked up when she saw her boyfriend, smiling.
"I saved you some salad." She said softly as (Y/N) picked up his backpack. He smiled, pecking her lips and taking the bowl from her.
"Thanks, baby." (Y/N) cooed. Maria giggled, nodding. She glanced at Isabela, licking her lips. She looked at (Y/N), head tilting.
"You guys were gone for a bit. What did you talk about?" Maria asked, picking up her bag. (Y/N) finished eating, handing the bowl back to her and closing the bag of chips. He slid it into his backpack, shrugging.
"Typical gossip stuff." (Y/N) replied, looking at her. Maria grabbed his arm, waving to their friends. They started heading to class.
"I wish I had a friendship like you and Isa's." Maria said, resting her head against his arm. (Y/N) chuckled, glancing at her.
"Me and Isa have been friends since we were kids. Our mother's have always been friends so it's only natural that we're friends too." (Y/N) shrugged, looking forward. Maria looked at (Y/N), giving him a small grin.
"Let's go to the janitors closet." Maria cooed, standing infront of him. (Y/N) cocked a brow, chuckling.
"Alright."
(Y/N) looked at Quintanilla, boredly listening to his speech about cellphone use. He sighed softly, looking at Maria. Maria looked back at him, leaning over and kissing him. (Y/N) hummed, kissing her back. They pulled back when they heard a distorted male voice coming from the video.
"Who is Isabela De La Fuente?" (Y/N) furrowed his brows, glancing at Isabela. He watched the video, dread filling his stomach when he realized the direction it was going. Whoever had made it, did it with the intent on outing Isabela as trans. Students began shouting insults and asked Isabela questions. Isabela quickly stood, leaving the auditorium. (Y/N) stood up, following her out.
"Isa, wait!" (Y/N) called out, hearing Maria and Natalia calling for her as well. Isabela rushed into the bathroom. (Y/N) stopped infront of it, frowning.
"We'll take care of her, babe. Don't worry." Maria assured him, kissing him softly and entering the bathroom with her sister. (Y/N) looked at his phone, seeing people already posting about it. He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He turned his head, noticing two girls trying to listen in.
"Don't you two have better things to do? Are your lives so boring that you have to be in other peoples business?" (Y/N) asked, cocking a brow. The girls scoffed and walked away, mumbling between themselves. (Y/N) watched Pablo and the other boys approach the bathroom.
"Did you know she was a dude?" Ernesto asked him. (Y/N) scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Are you fucking blind or stupid?" (Y/N) asked, glaring at him as he straightened up. Isabela stepped out of the bathroom, teary eyes settling on Pablo. She went to hug him but Pablo gently pushed her back.
"How could you do this to me?" Pablo asked as Ernesto, Dario, and Gerry made more comments.
"What do you mean?" Isabela asked, brows furrowing.
"Yeah, nobody told us you had a dick." Gerry said, shrugging.
"Shut up, asshole." Isabela huffed, glaring at Gerry. Pablo swallowed, licking his lips as he glanced at the guys.
"I mean, you lied." Pablo shrugged. Isabela stared at him in shock, betrayal written all over her face.
"No, I didn't."
"I trusted you." Pablo shook his head. Isabela scoffed, stepping away from him and glancing at their friends.
"You're a fucking asshole." Isabela glared at Pablo, walking away from him with the others following. One of the teachers, Susana, gently hugged her and took her away from the others. (Y/N) looked at Pablo, shaking his head.
"Way to go, dipshit." (Y/N) snapped at him, feeling Maria gently place her hand on his chest and step infront of him.
"Let's make sure Isa is okay, baby." Maria encouraged lightly, not wanting them to fight. She gently took his hand, pulling him away. Isabela was allowed to go home early so her parents picked her up. (Y/N) took out his car keys, approaching his car. He glanced up at Pablo.
"Did you know?" Pablo asked quietly. (Y/N) unlocked his car, opening the door and hitting Pablo with it. Pablo grunted softly, rubbing his arm.
"Of course I fucking knew. Isabela is like a sister to me. You can go to hell for that shit you pulled." (Y/N) barked, tossing his backpack inside.
"Baby, can I stay over at your place?" Maria asked, lifting her dress a bit and jogging over to them. (Y/N) nodded, motioning to his car while holding eye contact with Pablo. Pablo broke it, looking at the ground.
"Get in." Maria went around, opening the passenger door and getting in. She took off her bag, placing it on her lap. (Y/N) got in, closing the door and reversing.
"Pablo-"
"He did it to save his own ass. No wonder he didn't want Isabela to tell you guys. He was embarrassed." (Y/N) scoffed, knuckles whitening from his grip on the wheel. Maria frowned, taking his hand and gently kissing it.
"I hate it when you're upset." Maria mumbled, thumb running over (Y/N)'s knuckles. (Y/N) let out a deep sigh, shoulders slumping.
"How about we order some pizza and have a movie night?" Maria asked, smiling. (Y/N) shook his head lightly, licking his lips.
"Isa needs me." (Y/N) replied, gaze focused on the road. Maria sighed, leaning back against the seat. She looked away from him.
"What about me?" Maria asked softly, playing with her hair with her free hair. (Y/N) glanced at her, frowning.
"Princess..."
"I just feel like we haven't been on any dates recently." Maria shrugged, looking at him. She gave him a small smile.
"It's fine! We can spend the night at Isa's place or she can come over." Maria shrugged.
"No, I'll.. I'll give her a call. We can spend the rest of the day together." Maria smiled widely, nodding eagerly. She leaned over, kissing his cheek.
"Thank you, baby."

After a Longass time, I'm gonna make a response post to a post from @itsclydebitches. Not sure if I'll acknowledge All
Of it, but still..
1.Thats, the opposite of what the First episode shows, the first episode shows that the Military presence in Mantle dosent really do anything to actually help them with the Grimm. With it even being joked about as usual for the Military by Nora. The next episode also states that wasn't even the reason James had for it. It was to handle the 'eventual' Panick.
2.This and the recurring point of this later on is something I kinda want to address, because it's sort of what I was trying to say in My ask but I should go into more detail.
The point is basically that If James was shady for what he did, then So is Ruby for being willing to work with him for that long...I kinda want to mix this with a different Criticism I heard. That Ruby not trusting Ironwood was horrible and ungrateful because of all the good stuff James had done and how sympathetic and well meaning he was. The issue is that they are both 2 halves of the picture that ignore the other half, wich was what the heroes actual response was.
Him being sympathetic, clearly just trying to help and all the Good stuff he was doing is why they are willing to work with him and help with things. But Ruby didn't like his shadier actions either, wich is why she didn't trust him completely. And also? ""Nora dosent agree...But Ruby, the leader, does. She pushed Ironwood to finish Amity somwhow", that....isnt What happens, we see After Nora yells at James, ruby walks up to him and tells him more calmly that his actions, his management of Mantle and such were only helping Salem and it's what was making it easy for Salem to frame him. And earlier on we saw her with the other protags suggest working with Robyn. That's not 'Reaping the benefits of his actions even if they don't like them', that's not liking some of his actions but still trying to Understand him, and hope to reason or talk him down. Basically...Well it's a display that the other charachterization for Ruby, that she was a judgmental child who considered anyone who went beyond her standard of perfection to be Evil, isn't true. She tries to help and Understand James because she knows despite his flaws he is trying to do good, she tries to reach out to him and get him to see his actions were flawed.
Hell, the Jobs they were actually given were jobs where they could actually help soften the consequences of James actions, like Ren and Nora guarding the wall. the Robyn thing was a direct display that they weren't just doing anything James asked or were perfectly fine with his morally ambiguous actions. When ordered to attack a Huntress who was just trying to help, they instead went against his orders and even tried to actually fix things in a better way.
3.This is a few different issues, I'll start by saying that, that wasn't Ozpins problem in the Previous Volume, Some fans and some of the Heroes in there Angrier times think that, But the big thing was basically that Ozpin wasn't trusting anyone With that Info, that's what separates it from Rubies situation with James, Ruby wasn't trusting James because he actually did have many traits that made him look untrustworthy. And...well Finishing Amity and the plan is not pointless even with Salems immorality. Ruby dosent 'Know' That her being immortal means that the whole plan is pointless for 2 reasons, 1 is that she never had the mindset that it made it all pointless, she was actually distinctly against that when the others thought that under the Apathies influence, and makes her stance clear later, that Salem being Unkillable doesn't mean she's unstoppable. And 2, she dosent 'Know' that because....Its not true. Even if they can't directly kill her like James is planning...Were explicitly, directly told in Salems first actual appearance in the show that Humanity United was a threat and that was why she was going to ensure she divided them. Not to mention that...It isn't even all about the plan? It's made clear that global communications being down was a really bad thing and fixing that alone would help.
4.Im just gonna address one point here...It was not 'The Majority of Mantle' Being taken, were told that they were not even close to being done evacuating.
5.Basically what I said at 2, But to also state, James wasn't an Unambiguous Bad guy in Volume 7, He was in the Wrong In Volume 7, but he wasn't meant to be a Villain yet. The point of James charachter is basically he's someone who meant well but was highly flawed and made bad decisions, and instead of growing from his mistakes, he doubled down on them and let his flaws consume him. I'll get to it more later, but, that doesn't mean he was always evil or meant to be, Also...Jaunes license was given to him by James but, he was not part of the Military being fused with Huntsman, especially by this point. And with Winters words in her and James fight, I have my own issues with that fight or Winters Arc, but I don't think that point holds up either because we weren't meant to see Winter as unambiguously a good guy in Volume 7. Her words in there fight was after she had changed, that dosent mean we're supposed to believe she was a hero while working under James. It just means her POV changed after leaving him, now she wasn't following her programming of being blindly obedient anymore. Penny called out Winter for her being willing to follow through with euthanizing the Winter Maiden, Marrow calls her out in Volume 8 asking the Weiss question.
6.Well, to answer the questions there, were told in episode 5 what the recources were. Clover says how they were taking 'Construction resources', were told this again by Penny in the Car ride, wich makes total sense. They are changing Amity so that it could serve as a shuttle, so needing Construction stuff makes sense. While we may not be told how much power James had explicitly, they do give us a decent idea, that he had way more then he should. It's said in the Council meeting that they set in Checks and balances to keep him from overstepping with his seats, and that he basically just Ignored them to pull the actions he did in Volume 7. And Watts gives us both one Major decision that shows James flaws and gives a Clue as to part of the reasons Mantle was crappy as it was, saying how James updated most of the code in Atlas after the fall of Beacon, but 'As Usual' None was updated in Mantle. Aside from showing a...Truly Spectacularly callous move on James part, it also gives a big clue as to part of the reason Mantle is as crappy as it is, That Atlas and James basically treat Mantle like an afterthought and neglects changing things there to make things better, resulting in the City's state that we see. And, I imagine that being surveillanced and patrolled almost constantly wouldn't be ideal, and it's established by Winters line in that first episode that not cooperating with Personal was a punishable offense. I think you also....Picked a really bad example with Rhodes, if anything, Rhodes is probably a perfect demonstration of why being complacent or loyal to a system is bad for Huntsmen. I think if he would have loved to help Cinder more, it's just that he was loyal to the System and wasn't doing anything to upset the status quo despite knowing it was wrong. If issues like that existed, then it makes James specialist program, wich is specifically supposed to be Huntsmen trained to be loyal to the system, an even worse idea. Also I sort of feel like the bits at the end are sort of a false equivalency. I explained Ozpin amd Rhodes but also...Well for one, while we don't see portals line up in those specific areas, the plan was to have Jaune explain what was going on with everyone. And Qrow, Marrow and Robyn were still taking in the other Ace ops, they knew the plan so they would likely just head over to the nearest portal after, and...Maria and Pietro weren't there. And in James case, it wasn't just him 'saving who he could', it's that he could have tried to do more but didn't because he didn't want to risk it, and as Volume 8 showed, they really did have lots of time to evacuate people and could have found a way to Launch Amity. And...Well in his case there's the little fact that, as his Convo with Oscar makes explicit, James plan involved leaving the rest of Mankind To the dust and at Salems mercy.
There are problems with RWBY, but I don't think it's shoddily written, partially because I don't really find it 'particularly' flawed and think the good far outweighs the bad. And you know what? To some degree, I agree. I do think there's a weird bias towards authority in the FNDM, but maybe alot of fans are too dismissive of criticism, I do think to some degree we should acknowledge the RWDE and such aren't all right wingers and there's now a Vocal part of it that are on the left or members of minority groups. I don't agree with a ton of the things they say, and think most of it dosent hold up, but instead of just dismissing, perhaps it's better to look at things in detail and give proper arguments agaisnt them. So I won't treat you like an idiot, I'm going to give a full rundown on why I don't feel like it holds up under analytical scrutiny.
For one, while it doesn't have those specific issues like in the real world, I don't agree with this Criticism because I feel it is the one that sort of ignores the worldbuilding and what's been shown or said about the Military and the world itself and not the show, It sort of feels like people just bring up the basic concepts that would seem reasonable and ignore how the show executes certain things. For one, the military was a leftover from a time when they were meant to fight against other humans, It was something an Authoritarian state held over after its defeat and reformation, James and the Military helped Jac as he turned the SDC into the horrific corporate empire it is, Covordin shows that Nationalism is indeed a bit thing and that there were high ranking officers who were fully comfortable with the possiblity of just waging war on the other Kingdoms again. And then there's the specialist program, I've seen people sort of distill it to its very basics to make it seem more reasonable, describing it as just stuff like Huntsmen having rules and such, when the show displays it being way more screwed up then that. It literally involves indoctrinating people as students, were shown Elm reprimand the protagonists saying how they don't need to think about Orders just follow them. As both Volumes show, the culture of the program is deeply screwed up and unhealthy for them, were shown how they taught stuff like repressing your emotions and how deeply unhealthy it is for them.
And...Furthermore? If we're judging by how things are In Universe with the show the world built...James way of doing things is, completely absurd. I already dislike Cynical 'This is the REAL world 'Types IRL. But....In the world James is in, his strategy is just....
He lives in a world where negativity causes monster attacks and the villains whole Shtick is manipulating narratives to cause disarray and ensuring people stay divided. James strategy involved closing off Atlas from the rest of Remnant after they were framed for causing the Fall of Beacon, never bothering to clear there name when sleet and Camilla say he could easily do so, he dismisses both his image across the Globe and in Atlas, and dismisses what the people of Mantle want and the stuff his actions currently cause, all as Neccesary sacrifices when that's all completely insane and Relies on basically ignoring absolutely everything about the situation they are in and how there enemy works, wich again, Ruby points out, that he was actively playing into Salems hands and making it easier for her.
I think it's a decent display of the Tunnel Vision James has, he's prepared for the negativity of the END result of his plan and made preparations for it, but he...Basically ignores the consequences his actions are having right now and how that will affect his ends.
Overall...I think the issue is that James is not meant to be the Bad guy through Volume 7, and I feel like its not that the show 'contradicts' it's pure black and white take on things, it's just that it wasn't there to begin with. Whenever a Major flaw Ironwood had from the start is brought up, it's claimed that it means he was supposed to be 'Always evil'(admitedly some fans as well), when it dosent, it just means his flaws and darker aspects were always there and he didn't jump off the slippery slope instantly like some claim.
Were meant to sympathize with James, understand him, ECT. We're meant to want to see him get better, to be escatic when he does almost get better.
Overall, I don't agree with the idea that James was a reasonable charachter who was bastardized, the show set him up as flawed pretty well already, he's sympathetic because he's designed to be sympathetic. He's not potrayed as a Villain through 7 because he wasn't meant to be til the end.
Also...Well, even if you still felt that him 'Just' abandoning Mantle was still just morally gray...That isn't dropped in V8, it's bascially dropped not 2 episodes later. Where not only does he shoot Oscar but Oscar pointed out not only was he abandoning Mantle, but abandoning the rest of Mankind. Wich James just responds calling it an 'excellant philosophical point'.

plots please :3
⤏ send me “plots please”
… and I’ll respond with 3 (or more) interesting plots / relationships / connections I can think of for our muses! There is no pressure for us to write any of them, but it’s a great starting point for you to get a sense of how I think our muses might interact and what sorts of plots I’m most interested in happening between them - so don’t be shy! @hxrbingxr
I looked at Eira's bio and read what was there so far. If anything I propose here isn't in line with your thoughts/vibes/or anything that hasn't been posted just let me know. We can work it out or I can pick some other muses for you to work with! I just went Marvel because Eira's a Marvel OC.
So I was thinking maybe a plot with MCU Peter maybe around Far from Home time. We can either acknowledge that he was snapped or we can do it in the verse where he wasn't. I'm fine either way. But maybe Eira is there and feels like she has to look after Peter after Tony dies ( if we go endgame canon ) and so she follows him on his trip/mission. She's obviously butting heads with probably Fury I assume. Although, maybe Maria too but to a lesser extent. It's mostly fine though until she meets Mysterio and given how shifty people have been over the years after her entire situation with Stane, she's getting big alarm bells, and waving the red flags. She tries to convince Peter not to trust him. But Peter ( even if he hadn't been snapped ) is still fairly young and wants to believe the best in people and so the movie plays out as it did. But, when things get leaked at the end, instead of saying 'i told you so', she tells him that they'll find a way to fix it. And we can go from there. I'm getting big sis/lil bro vibes.
Since Eira is close with Tony ( i know she kind of is with mine anyway ), maybe post Endgame if we go canon route, Steve goes to return the stones, but he comes back with someone and it's none other than young Howard Stark. He's big confused and also doesn't get what's happening. I mean you could do like I said with some other people involving Howard or endgame time travel, the branch reality situation, or you could have it that Steve broke the main one. Either way, plucking Howard out of the past will cause some sort of issues, and how does Eira really deal with staring at a dead man who has a dead son she was daughter like with?
I know you said when we spoke about Bucky that you love 40's verses. So I had thought what if we did an AU where Eira had existed then. We could find a way to fit her in. We can have her know Steve pre serum or not. The city is a large place. So less they were both in Brooklyn, it's possible they didn't know each other, cause you know NYC. If they did then that would lend to a certain dynamic. But if not, she could work with Howard and Peggy and meet Steve during the experiment or right after his big transformation. Everyone's treating him like some hero or a dancing monkey, some sort of pawn, and she could be that person aside from Bucky that doesn't see him as anyone but Steve which means that even if he does wake up 70 years in the future and she's not there, he'll remember her, and hold onto that memory.

Daisy's behaviour this episode really bothered me. The whole "kill freddy to prevent hydra's foundation" thing, kind of brought back the s5 "kill one persone to save many" debate (like when yoyo killed ruby) but, while back then she was firmly against yoyo actions, she doesn't even esitate now in front of the possibility of killing someone in cold blood. Not to mention that she asked deke to do it, openly against mack's orders and everyone elses opinion. I hope this is addressed at some point
Hey Everyone!
Well. Daisy was a pretty hot topic after the episode last night so I decided to combine them all into one mega ask response as to not totally spam your dashes more than I already do because many of these questions all pull off of each other.
I was very surprised by Daisy’s actions last night but in retrospect I shouldn’t have when you sit and really look back at her actions. Her doing something like that in the first few eps of the season is even a given pretty much at this point. This was a case of me wanting to see evidence for a theory start to show up and instead said theory was pretty much blown to bits.
Where she goes from here is going to come down to what Mack does, IE does he punish her for trying to completely alter the history of the world, bench one of their strongest assets. Or does he just look the other way like Coulson did for so many years. Even if Daisy had been Director, killing Freddie was the wrong call. Even worse was how she tried to make it happen via an inexperienced and confused Deke.
So starting with the OG ask above. I have struggled with Daisy’s impulsive decisions for the entire series. It happens every season where she ignores orders, does what she wants, and even betrayed the team. Those decisions have serious consequences for the team, some worse than others. Season 5 was one of the worst for me, drove me bonkers with her double standards, with how she treated Fitz and Elena yet talked to Hale about recruiting and training Ruby fresh off Ruby cutting off Elena’s arms, Torturing Talbot, and going for the destroyer machine while torturing Fitzsimmons in the process. Also had she listened to Fitz about the target in the first place they would have been there long before the Superior was stopping the loop there without losing anyone.
But its never been really formally addressed by her superiors with the exception of Season 1 when they put that computer blocker on her wrist for Running to the Rising Tide. Mack needs to do something about it and do something now, before it gets worse. This was only the first test and she failed. Disregarding everyone else and history and throwing out the butterfly effect that she saw full force in the Framework with just May’s regret did and AIDA warped it even more.
Ideally Mack would sit her down, have it out, and pretty much put her on a time out until he can trust and she can prove she can handle the mission again. The issue here is with May.....questionable right now though she is in protect my team mode, and I suspect that Elena has lost her powers, Daisy is one of their biggest assets and they will need her in a fight.

Who would you see becoming director of shield if Mack dies and knowing that Daisy is clearly not ready? I would have said May but after this episode not anymore and LMD Coulson is happy being a agent and I don’t think he wants to be director again so except Simmons I don’t see anyone being ready to take over if necessary.
I agree that Daisy isn’t remotely close to being ready and I don’t know if they have the real estate to get her there in 11 episodes now. Not with knowing some of her biggest tests are yet to come (Afterlife). I mean if the writers really want to get her there they will but its going to take some massive leaps and even will feel unearned to me after how last night went down.
I think we could see May heal and get better as the season progresses. She’s got a lot to process right now and needs to have Jemma properly look her over and then have it out with who she needs to have it out with over Robo Coulson. I can see her staying on if Mack falls out of a sense of duty but it would be a band aid kind of thing, only until someone else can be found and vetted.
I don’t see Fitzsimmons as an option, I’m pretty sure they are out either in another time or just out for their Scottage.
Elena and Deke won’t have enough experience or overall Shield knowledge to do it.
The get rid of the DIrector thing all together and start leading with some sort of Council?
Maria Hill comes in out of freaking no where.
So I’m going to throw out a very very out there option. Enoch. Last night he established himself with Koenig, he’s going to be with Shield now as it grows. I’ll bet that Koenig’s bar is the one above the Playground. And not only does he have ample knowledge of Shield history but earths history and a lot of the baddies that are lurking out there in the Universe as well. Because he is a Chronicom he’s calm and level headed....and it would be one heck of a twist there at the end.
Getting long so under the thing.

They just completely throw Daisy character development trough the window this episode. Like if they really wanted her to become director at the end of the season they wouldn’t have done that. I feel like she is going to keep going against the other and the mission and she is going to put someone from the team in danger or something
Unpopular opinion here. No, they didn’t throw away any development with Daisy. She does something like that every single season. There is a situation where she doesn’t agree with the higher ups and forges ahead with what she feels is the best coarse of action. And yes people do get hurt.
While we are a year removed from the Season 6 finale for the team its like hours. Hours from she and May going against the others, trusting that Coulson was somewhere in Sarge, and took him right to where he needed to be. Then he killed May, Elena almost died and has possibly lost her powers, and the evil Zombie Army nearly took over the world.
Just hours after that she’s ready to totally take out Hydra and do who knows what to the timeline. Even worse she tried to get Deke to do it by not giving him the whole story.
I think what scares me and many others is that this was mission one and she was ready to make a tidal wave. And next time she’s ready to screw history I want to fix this we don’t know who gets caught in the collateral damage.

It was unnerving to see Daisy almost make it happen for the Chronicoms just because of her personal issues with Malicks. After all Gideon was the one who brought Hive back and it led to death of Lincoln and Malicks were involved in helping Whitehall which destroyed her family. It was too personal and she doesn’t deal with that well. This is why Mack is the Director.
Yes, Daisy realized in Season 5 that her emotions were getting the better of her and handed it off to Mack. However, it only works if she follows his orders now that she has.
Yes, Malick hurt Daisy a lot, no question. But he also did a number of Fitzsimmons with the whole 4722 hours on a deserted hell planet thanks to his monolith then being kidnapped and tortured to force Fitz to take Ward over to pick up Hive, Fitz the sacrifice to him. Because of Malick Rosalind died and set off that lovely Darth Coulson arc. May lost Lashdrew. The team lost Bobbi and Hunter. So she wasn’t the only one hurt by him but she was the only one who was ready to change history about it.

This episode proves that Daisy is still not ready to become director
See Above.

Daisy is definitely going to continue to want to do whatever she/they can to stop HYDRA. She’s got a big personal stake there; and I don’t think she cares about their present all that much.
Unfortunately I do agree but its not just Hydra. We know Afterlife is in play and there is an insanely good chance that they come across her mother there and that is on massive emotional can of worms and one of the biggest temptations to fix. To try to tell herself that what all would it hurt if I did.......
I do think what will finally stop her is she is going to make too big of a wave and it is going to have some serious repercussions and have major fallout. Be it we see history changed or someone dies as a result of her actions.

Whoa i didn't even realise that there's an au where Quen isn't lying?? And i love it??? You said you were inspired so maybe you could write something not from the prompt list, in this au, where Beck realises you are alive in this world but he doesn't want to hurt you so he avoids you but you can tell that he treats you diferently until something happens (a fight or someone getting too close to you) and he just snaps and confeses his love while crying and screaming. You're the best, keep up ;))
Man I dunno whether it’s like a real au or one that I just decided to pick up and write but I don’t care either way tbh I’m just going to keep writing it dude. I didn’t really do ‘crying and screaming’ because I didn’t think it fit with the tone of the rest of the blurb so I hope that’s okay :)
-------------------------------------------
Quentin hated how his eyes were always drawn to her.
He understood why that was the case. But he hated it anyway. Every time he looked upon her it brought a stabbing pain to his chest.
The sight of her made his hands drop to the ring that he still wore on his finger, twisting it desperately around and around.
This Y/N was different to his Y/N, though. So very different. But also so, so similar.
His Y/N was powerless. She was vulnerable and reliant on others and she had little resembling a dark past. She was sweet and forgiving and funny and kind and so, so, beautiful. She was perfect to Quentin.
This Y/N had powers. She was capable of shifting into any animal. She was far from vulnerable and very self-reliant, though she had undertones of shyness that she played off by turning into something loud - a lion or a panther. She didn’t see herself as being imposing and confident so she made herself that way to others. This Y/N was funny, too, in a different way. More cynical and world-weary and sarcastic.
To say she had a dark past would be an understatement.
From the little snippets of information either she or Fury or Peter or even Maria had let slip he had gathered some idea of just how much this Y/N had lost.
Quentin collected the names like a grandmother collected letters.
He handled each one with care. Turning them over in his mind and trying to figure out how they fit into her life.
Natasha. Tony. Steve.
There were others too. Spoken with a softer cadence than the names of those that were truly gone. More hopeful, wondering if she would meet them again.
Thor. Clint. Bruce.
Quentin was scared of this Y/N. Scared of the feelings she invoked in him. Of the memories she forced him to relive. He was certain that, if he got too close to her, hers would become another one of the names spoken rarely but always with care and sadness.
Quentin couldn’t afford to loose her again.
At least, that was until one of their missions happened. It shouldn’t have been a big deal. They were back in the US, the elementals long gone, Peter safely back home.
Y/N got injured. Quentin had stopped at almost nothing to get to her, to bring her to safety as quickly as possible.
When Y/N woke up in the hospital wing of Avengers tower, Quentin was asleep by her side. He hadn’t meant to stay there. He was going to leave as soon as he had some soft of proof that she really was going to be okay.
But he fell asleep instead.
“Did you know me?” Y/N whispered hoarsely, before Quentin could leave again and disappear once more, just like the green mist he was so good at forming.
“What do you mean?” Quentin almost had to physically bite his tongue to prevent himself from calling her ‘Honey’. A common problem he had to face when he spoke with Y/N.
“On your world, did you know me?” There was no way Quentin could hide from her the way that he froze slightly and his hand went to his ring, twisting it around his finger. “Oh,” it was just an exhale, but it was enough to bring him back to his thoughts.
“I didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable by telling you,” it was only half a lie. Half the reason Quentin hadn’t told her of their former relationship back in his reality.
“I... I understand,” the room lapsed into silence. “You know I’m not... I’m not her, Quentin,” Y/N finally said, biting her lip, what almost seemed like guilt crossing her features. He gave her a small smile.
“I know... I think that’s what I like about you.”

All of this.
Lo siento pero the importance of Maria being black latinx was everything but they didn't touch on it at all. But I also said the same for Alex being indigenous but it not making it into the actual series like it was apparently mentioned in the OG script for the pilot until much later.
For one, the various angles that could be taken with their respective heritages alone and how it could tie into the alien lore is fascinating, and honestly one of the things I was curious about when I realised this version would be so diverse, and also why I was stoked about episode 9 when they went to the rez.
I like this show a lot. I wouldn't discuss it so much or watch it if i didn't, but I also realized I had to let go and push past a lot of things I'm not pleased about to continue on with the narrative, and you touched on a lot of them.
It still bothers me that the Ortechos never got justice. I know they anticipated more episodes and had to change their narrative to accommodate a limited order, but revealing that the trio helped cover up Rosa's murder even if Isobel was possessed when she killed her is a lot to overcome and Liz was expected to move past that quickly. Too quickly. And while I have conditioned myself to move past that to enjoy Echo it doesn't change the fact that no way in hell should that have happened and no way in hell should she have forgiven him and moved on, or said things like she understood his pain and need to protect Isobel, or taken accountability for Isobel violating her mind, or not call Michael or Isobel out for how they treated her upon arrival when they did what they did to which she never got any real apologies for that, but suddenly her quest for justice for her sister became about her helping the aliens.
And the framing thing among other things that continues to be a nuisance is the lack of how they address the racial components. The aliens are still either stunningly unaware of the troubling racial context and effects of their actions or don't care. They framed an innocent brown girl for the deaths of two white girls and stayed in town and watched as am entire town turned against the Ortechos and racially harassed them and did nothing. The only one who expressed some remorse was Max, and when he did, the other two were angry at him for that.
Which makes it all the more uncomfortable when Liz who faced instant repercussions for their actions, who was under threat along with their father for something she couldn't hide (her skin tone and heritage) was often still lectured about conversion therapy or what have you by Michael (who still played a significant role in what happened to her and never apologized for it) who was concerned about a perceived threat for who and what he was that he wasn't experiencing at that time. It was a terrible analogy to draw given the context especially when they had no idea how dangerous they are and never questioned or looked into why Isobel spazzed out and killed people in the ten years since it happened. They were legitimate threats and essentially ruined Liz's life at that point and she was compelled to apologize for it which is a troubling pattern that still continues where she is almost always expected or shown as gracious to people who have done terrible things to her when she doesn't have reason to be or at least not that soon.
And the friendship, yes. I relish those friendship moments, but they really need to improve that too. Maria is supposed to have been Rosa's best friend, which is more of a reason why she should've been used more when Liz was investigating her death, but she wasn't. And it was more of a reason why she should have known about the aliens sooner especially once it was evident her own mother may have been affected by them or when it started affecting her life and safety, but nope. There is a reason why so many people were upset that that specific storyline was taken from her.
But we get Maria and Liz who weren't close in ten years, and we barely get the Maria, Liz, Alex dynamic because two of them get sucked into alien drama while one tends bar. She has psychic skills and abilities that could be of use and honestly of all the ways she gets the Bonnie Bennett treatment even Bonnie was used as a walking macguffin and Maria doesn't even have that.
So the friendship often misses the mark because of how much it an outlier she is from the storyline. Liz was too preoccupied to even know about Mimi, and Alex knew and urged Liz to be a better friend, but he's just as preoccupied too and frustratingly enough the only time they share scenes it's to talk directly or indirectly about Michael which makes them feel hollow as friends.
And that's literally why so many people cling to the Michael and Maria dynamic because that's like the most consistent friendshippy dynamic and he's the only one consistently there for her during times of need. I mean. Damn. And yeah, if and when she finds out the truth, what is that going to look like? Will they just have her brush past it like everyone else has?
Maria was there all those years to see the hatecrimes. Like, while we're at it, I hate that Maria and Arturo are sidelined for this reason. Is Arturo still being harassed? ICE isn't a threat anymore? What gives?
Did he know Rosa wasn't his kid? Why does the family stuff have to be back burner story too.
They had every reason to incorporate Mimi's condition into the alien stuff more but didn't. Not really. Not yet anyway. And that is the heart of it.
Even if there are real and legit plans for Maria it annoys me, since episode one until now that if that is the case, Maria's storylines are "not yet." "Wait and see." "We'll get to it."
She was my favorite from the original. I love her here. I'll gush over all the scraps that we are given. I love her, but it still doesn't change the fact that they dropped the ball with Maria hard. She's the least developed. Limited screentime.
I feel like some of us Maria fans have been saying this from the beginning and now that the season is over, and everything has unfolded, we can all reach the consensus that Maria DeLuca deserves better.
I've said this before. I think the show has done a great job with the queer rep (with Malex at least), although the stuff with Rosa and Isobel is troublesome. And I love that.
But I wish the same amount of care was also put into the race parts. The diversity is great, but if it's not handled well it runs the risk of being tokenism or diversity for diversity's sake. I can say the only times it felt like maybe they had people who got it fully while writing dialogue was when Liz was getting her identification in the pilot and that monologue by Maria about her mother making her embrace how different she was.
Other than that, there is no nuance with race. There is a lot of oversight. Like for general female empowerment not being tied to a man is ideal, but for black women specifically who are either hypersexualized or desexualized an shoved in the sassy friendzone, it's different. Or how "Maria deluca is her own savior" is amazing in general but disconcerting in context when she's alienated from support from her friends the majority of the time. Or Liz apologizing so damn much to the alien crew or not calling bullcrap when they position her as though SHE can't understand their plight.
Or making one of the only dark characters bad. The only bad alien is dark. And he's a dark man who violated a white woman for years. Like, the cringe. The cringe! And now two white guys are duking it out over whether or not they should kill him and pro-kill is law enforcement.
Or how prior to the reveal the other suspect was the dark woman with just as limited screentime and development and law enforcement jumped on that theory and shared it with others before speaking to her first, despite knowing people were getting possessed, and jumped on that theory on the word of the racist white man and Isobel who is the embodiment of "I wanna speak to the manager" entitlement.
Or how the other dark character was Flint who probably would've killed his own brother and left them to die. All because of his demon father and was OK as an indigenous man, as a visibly indigenous man who would treated as such, with multiracial alien people being tortured and abused by the government.
Or how a dark woman like Arizona was still a hustler and scammer, which despite her claims about white people still made me uncomfortable.
Or how the other dark woman is a sheriff with deepseeded xenophobia and racism against her own people.
That's just the race rep that needs work. We won't even go into Alex's disability gradually disappearing as the season progresses. Or Isobel's trauma and Michael's trauma and abuse, taking precedent over Rosa's alcoholism and trauma, or Liz's trauma, or Alex's PTSD, or Max's CLEAR indications of depression and possible suicide ideation.
But yup. Bars were missed all season. And it is frustrating that you have to overlook or begrudgingly accept all of this while consuming the show and its narrative.
So here’s the thing I’m pissed off about. According to Carina MacKenzie the white aliens are being used as a metaphor for how we view Muslims in this country. Which is great. Except unless you’ve seen her interviews or follow her on social media there is no way to fucking know that. Your average viewer who tunes in week after week is only going to see three white people. And then as an added bonus, you cast a Southeast Asian MOC to play the actual villain. Because we just don’t have enough representation of shows continuing to perpetuate negative stereotypes. So congratulations, you’ve done exactly what everyone else has done.
And don’t even get me started on how Maria, the only black person on the fucking show, is being treated. She has no storyline of her own. She has the least screentime of anyone else on the show and that includes some of the supporting characters. You place her in the direct line of fire of the fetishizers knowing full well they will attack her every chance they get. Brilliant job.
