IKR? Like the episode where Evil Kyoichi was racing Sho and Makoto grabs the cable wire in time to save him... they completely wasted the opportunity for the cable to be on the other side of a body of water and while Koei and Arthur are stumped like "We won't make it in time!" "Koei, can you make a hurricane across??" "No, but maybe Makoto-" and Makoto just zooms past them across the water and grabs the cable just in time!

That would give Makoto her moment showing her skills and importance as a member of the team PLUS it would make Kyoichi's rescue feel like something only Makoto herself could do and was necessary for.

As things stand Gabu felt more necessary for Kyoichi's rescue than Makoto was- I just- TT^TT

As things are, Makoto felt more important as a supporting character in general than a rider. I mean, I'm glad her contribution there wasn't lacking (so many shows sideline their female lead much more than this), but yeah way to create a skilled character and then waste the potential.

As much as I love the show, I think they did us a great disservice by not giving us more moments of Makoto utilising Neptune’s special skill to ride on water.
