Character headcanons and thoughts: Perkins & Allen
PERKINS
I think he knows androids are sentient but he doesn't really care much. To him, they're a threat to national security and the human race. Androids are a mistake that should have never been created. This could be because of something personal that happened or just something he strongly believes.
Sure, one could argue that Perkins is "following orders" but this one feels like an order he's more than happy to obey. He probably even asked for the case to be assigned to him.
Outside of work, he has kids, he loves them but is terrible at showing it and this has driven a rift between them. I'd say his kids would be teenagers or young adults. They find that he's a bit too obsessive about his job.
He doesn't have a partner though
Perkins is good at his job because his personal philosophy is "at all costs". This ties in with him not caring whether androids are sentient or not; they're a threat and he will get rid of them "at all costs". He's willing to have human casualties if it means the greater human population is safe
Doesn't trust Cyberlife and has never owned an android in his life. Even though he and Cyberlife technically have similar goals tol "destroy Markus, end the revolution", Perkins thinks they shouldn't just stop at ending the revolution. End Cyberlife too and all the mess they keep causing. This strong dislike of Cyberlife has also leaked into why he hates androids.
He doesn't like President Warren either. She's a Cyberlife implant and he doesn't trust her. He doesn't like how much slack she's cutting Cyberlife or how much she lets their shit slide. He also definitely doesn't like how she keeps messing with Russia to get thirium for Cyberlife. But for the deviancy case, their goals happen to align. And she's also technically his boss; not much he can do about that.
He avoids close confrontation. He's more suited to office work or strategizing. He lets other people do the dirty work/field work.
He drinks his coffee black; bitter, just like him.
Perkins' gallery calls him "The Jackal" and explains this;
Nicknamed "The Jackal" due to his icy temperament, lacking sense of humor and his solitary nature, he is hated by most of his colleagues. On the other hand, his superiors consider him a reliable and efficient agent, which leads him to being entrusted with the most delicate of cases which nobody other than him would want.
I don't know if the people who gave him this nickname were trying to be funny or something because Jackal's are usually known for being cunning and mischievous not "lacking sense of humor" but Jackals are scavengers and they feed on carcasses of dead animal. They eat the things that most other animals wouldn't; the same way Perkins takes on cases other people avoid. It's a neat symbolism.
I would have loved to see Perkins in action, doing his job. We never get to see this and I think it undermines his role as the overarching villain. Why am I supposed to be concerned about a bad guy if I don't know how much of a threat he is?
A scenario I keep imagining is him finding Simon before Connor does and somehow Simon doesn't kill himself before he is captured (I know there's no way Simon would allow himself to get captured but shhhh)
Then we get to have an interrogation scene. Imagine he knows androids are just as conscious as humans, he'll treat Simon like any other suspect. Not because he's feeling nice but because he knows Simon is scared and afraid and he'll toy with that and try to drag as much information out of him as possible (because he's an asshole)
This will give us an opportunity to see what Perkins is capable of and it will definitely end badly so the player gets to be even more sad about it.
ALLEN
He doesn't really have an opinion on androids. I think he's pretty neutral and unless an android is getting in the way of him doing his job (see. Connor) or threatening people's safety (see. Daniel) he doesn't care much for them.
Sometimes though, he's unsettled by androids and he becomes unsure if they're actually "alive" or not. Sometimes, they do things. For instance, he always seems disturbed or disappointed if and android kills themselves in front of him (like if Connor jumps of the rooftop or if you fail to save Emma and Daniel jumps with her).
The Daniel case was the first time he encountered a deviant. He kept thinking about it for weeks afterwards.
I think he would be like Hank; he'd need a personal connection with an android and for the android to prove themselves real before he can start to feel strongly about them. Unlike Hank though, he'll never idealize androids or say their "superior to humans" (even if they technically are).
He doesn't have a family or a partner. He has never wanted one and when he was younger he never even considered it. (also; aroace Allen. Change my mind.)
Doesn't trust Cyberlife either. No matter what he feels about androids, he'll always dislike Cyberlife.
He hasn't gotten good sleep in years.
He has a dog. He seems like a dog person.
In terms of his relationship with the other people in the DPD;
He rarely talks with Gavin. When they do happen to be in close proximity with each other, Gavin tries to start up a conversation but he just glares at him until the air becomes awkward and tense and Gavin leaves him alone.
He's known Hank from a distance, even before he became Captain. He's seen Hank go from a decorated officer to a depressed man who can barely keep his job and like most people he pities Hank.
He and Fowler are friends. They give a similar vibe.
Perkins and Allen are ironically the humans we see behave like machines the most. They're always following orders and have missions to accomplish and they believe that's all that matters. Do I think they would be friends? No. Just because Perkins is too anti-social.
But you know who I'd love to see with Perkins? Connor. Imagine them working together guys, just think about it. Especially if it's the machine route. That's two main antagonists teaming up and Markus has to deal with them both.

Can you write a Hank, Connor, Markus, and Luther (separately) x reader fic where the reader likes to dress feminine and likes to paint his nails and stuff like that and the reader wants to paint Hanks, Connors, Markus’s etc nails or like do their makeup? Please and thank you 💗
Feminine Reader w/ DBH guys HCs
Fem aligned people (+ She/Her users) DNI
[FTM Friendly] Male Reader x DBH Guys
Fluff/Hcs
Detroit Become Human
Hank:
When he first met you, he felt happy that you felt so confident in how you express yourself.
It's what pulled himself to you in the first place
He loves also having pictures of you too because of it
He finds it contrast dynamics really attractive. He's a gruff "Hawaiian shirt" kinda guy who's dating a sweet "Cardigan with Fancy Pants" guy
Makes his heart melt
Especially if there's a height difference (Either way if you're taller or shorter, he loves height difference)
I feel like it'd take him a lot of convincing for him to wear makeup, especially if you try to get him to wear it outside of the house
but nail painting is on the table.
Colors like pink, or blue, or black if it goes well with his shirt
He's also very supportive of multicolor
Like having a dark blue on his index fingers while all the other nails are black
Now if you wanna do makeup, it'll take a while. But once you've finally convinced him (and maybe even promised that it'll only be an at home thing) he'll finally give in
He's a little flinchy, and pretends to hate it, and though for him the makeup feels "Heavy"
he still enjoys the end result, especially if you like it too
Connor:
It didn't phase him at all when he first met you
in fact, he never really paid attention to the fact until he introduced you to Hank
After you had left and it was just him and Hank, Hank started to explain to him the comparison's of how guys tend to wear more masculine things rather than feminine
Connor starts learning about fashion after that from magazines
I mean, if Connor were offered a dress or a tux, he wouldn't care for either, really. "It depends on the occasion" he says.
But now when he's with you, he's singing more praises towards you
He's more away of how others and you dress
"You're wearing pretty make up today" "Your shirt and nail match! :)" "So you're telling me you purposely match your shoes with your tops?"
If you ever try to paint his nails or do his makeup, he'll absolutely, with no hesitation, accept.
he could watch you paint his nails all day
He could chat your ears off while you do his makeup too
He loves the idea of makeup and painting his nails
Markus:
You're one of Carl's friends, one of the few that still care for him as a person, so Carl doesn't have one problem with you and introduces you to Markus
Markus's first thoughts of you was "Wow, he's really sweet and looks cute..."
You eventually start dating, and that means adding new clothes to impress your android boyfriend
You stop by the house every week to visit and take care of Carl
and to visit your boyfriend
Carl teaches you to paint, and you show him your makeup skills
One day, Markus will be doing dishes while you and Carl talk and Carl says something like
"You should do Markus's makeup"
He probably only said that cus Markus may have said some things about wanting you to paint his nails and stuff, but he thought Carl was already asleep by them
You happily bring it up later in private after Carl's asleep
And Markus is secretly very excited about it too
Do his makeup, paint his nails, he loves it all <3
Luther
Luther loves praising others, and loves to call you handsome and pretty all the time
He offers his face and hands to you the very moment you meet
"Oh you have very cool hands, do you mind painting my nails someday?"
"I like your makeup, maybe you could teach me?"
He's a very Quality Time romantic
So when you spend time focusing on making him almost as handsome as you, he can't help that he likes you this much.
He loves your clothing choice as well, and he seems like the type to also know some fashion tips, so he'll give you advice once in a while
As long as you want it
and if you're willing to give him advice too

North & Josh are definitely very on dimensional in terms of their beliefs, however, so is Simon technically. By being constantly neutral, he doesn't necessarily grow. Sure, him siding with your particular side could count as growth since he makes that decision instead of just wanting to rot in Jericho, but he doesn't really do much in terms of make decisions or grow. He sides with you, and he always sides with you. He doesn't really have any particular conflicts with Markus unless it is something small. The most he's conflicted with Markus (as I have seen, anyway, I am unsure if it is the most) is if you choose to shoot Simon on Stratford Tower.
"I don't have a choice," Markus says.
"There's always a choice," Simon says.
Then you shoot him.
And I agree wholeheartedly with the thing of Hank & Connor. That is also why I think Connor is the favorite character of the fandom. His story, arc, relationships, etc are all very well done. Markus & Kara, and everything they have got the shorter end of the stick because Connor was just so good. His arc of becoming deviant or staying a machine was great. His relationship with Hank was great. However, that also means relationships with other characters look very faulty. North & Josh look faulty when you look at Hank, but as you said, that is more so bad writing than them being bad characters.
It is just me being confused. I am not looking it up currently, but if I recall correctly, you could do the scene without interfacing with North. If I am wrong, however, please tell me. It would take a long time for me to look through every rooftop scene to find this one potentially non existent scene. But yes, I would like to continue to state that it would take a lot of trust to share emotions or memories.
If you became a deviant (something that is rather taboo, scary, emotional. you didn't truly feel anything before this moment, and now you are suddenly hit with true emotions and no limits on what you could do), those memories would be rather powerful. The moment you break down the walls and are your own person. The fact that Markus & North share these powerful, stressful, and emotional memories together shows deep trust between them. The fact though that you can go from Neutral to Lover is, again, bad writing. I think you should be given the choice of if you want North as a Companion or Lover when that comes up.
I say that pacifist thing because I can see people being upset that they gained a lover, but now can't do anything with it. The game has ended, and now you just have a lover you can't really do anything with. I think most players would be fine with Lover North being placed at the end of pacifist, but the ones that hate things are the most vocal. The few people that would hate it would be in uproar about how "OH SHE BECAME MY LOVER AT THE END". Or they could be pissed off that they'd throw a random lover at the end of the game when you don't need it. Again, most players would probably enjoy it at the end, but angry people are loud.
Personally, I think any romance with North is pretty rushed in the game. Sure, it makes more sense for her to be your lover if you are violent, but that doesn't exactly make it more right. That is basically just saying "hey, you're kissing her ass, so now you deserve her more". And while I think it makes sense that violent Markus and North would have it better, you still just met this woman and all you did was destroy some stuff and kill some people. That doesn't really develop their relationship more as it just gives it more reason to exist.
Simon & Markus would be rushed in the fact that this game is still within the span of about a week in time. Simon even has less missions with Markus than North, if I recall correctly. And while they could push Simon in as a potential partner for raiding Capitol Park instead of just North, I still do not think that would help develop a relationship above Friends.
A lot of it still comes down to bad writing and bad timing. The missions didn't need to be spread one day after another. And I think that is what hurts any relationship Markus has the most. You can be North's lover within 3 days.
Lemme show you.
November 6th - Markus Finds Jericho
November 9th - Markus & North are Lovers
(Reminder: Raiding Capitol Park & Freedom March happen within the same day, November 9th. Stratford Tower happened November 8th. Spare Parts happened on November 6th. November 7th I guess was a resting day??)
That is way too little time for an actual relationship to form for anybody. If it was all spread out a bit, even just by another week, maybe it could work. North & Markus need more time together, and so would Simon & Markus if he was going to be added in as a partner.
Also, please ask for clarification if I am confusing. o: I might be rambling, and that happens a lot, so never worry about asking for clarification ^^ I will not bite
Here is something I would like to tell the Detroit Become Human fandom.
*ahem*
They cannot all be Simon.
People like to fight over NorthxMarkus and SimonxMarkus. Understandable, you want a gay route.
However, I would like to advocate for the fact that the characters in DBH cannot all be Simon.
You might be wondering: What does that even mean, Caitlyn?
Well, lemme tell you.
People are angry that when you act pacifist, North’s lil relationship meter goes down. People are angry that when you act violent, Josh’s lil relationship meter goes down. Do you know whose meter stays basically the same no matter what?
Simon.
And that is fine; you have a violent person, a pacifist person, and a neutral person.
However, people get angry that North & Josh go down a lot? Well, what did you EXPECT to happen with characters with conflicting ideals?
People get angry when they see the little vvv happen in their game. Simon does that so rarely, I assume people have forgotten that Simon could even do that. They hate North & Josh because their meters can actually go down (mostly, anyway. there are other reasons, this is just the big one).
Guys. They cannot all be like Simon. If every character was neutral to what you did, it’d be a boring ass game. Relationships wouldn’t even matter because they would all like you no matter what. This wouldn’t be realistic. Sometimes, you will disappoint people. Sometimes, you will make them upset.
Do you know what is truly realistic, though? The way that North & Josh will follow you even if you don’t side with them. The way that North doesn’t do violent things like she wants to if you say no. The way that Josh doesn’t do pacifist things like he wants to if you say no. They keep pushing you to do it, but they never do it without your go ahead. North will not do anything violent against humanity until you do it. Josh will not do anything pacifist against humanity until you do it. Why is that?
Because they respect you. They respect your decisions as the leader of Jericho. They will be disappointed, but they will not stop listening to you. You know what is best for their people.
And that is something people need to understand. You can still respect someone, even if they go against your ideals.
That also can help explain the age old question, “Why does North love you even if you are pacifist?”
Look, MarkusxNorth isn’t perfect. It is rushed. I love it, and I understand completely why people wouldn’t like it. However, there are some crucial things about it.
Why does North love you even if you are pacifist?
Well
Because you are not a violence/pacifism beacon for her.
North sees you as a person
She sees you as the leader of Jericho, and she respects you.
She sees you as somebody who could understand why she is violent, and not judge her, even if you yourself are not violent.
Notice how every scene after the rooftop scene (where they interface), she seems to suggest violence less. She suggest violence as last resorts after that point.
Why?
Because you two shared memories.
She understands why you do the things you do. No longer does she question your reasons why.
Yes, NorthxMarkus is rushed.
But think of it this way;
Even if NorthxMarkus was gone, & it was SimonxMarkus
You would just have a rushed gay ship.
A very rushed, poorly done gay ship.
Just because Simon is a man won’t make it any less rushed.
I love SimonxMarkus. I love NorthxMarkus. They both can coexist, for they have their flaws and their perfections.
*Note: I am not bashing any ships. Ship what you want. Hate what you want. I just want the knowledge to be out there*
Thanks for listening to my TedTalk.
#honestly probably most of the game's problems can be traced back to shitty writing#holy shit it was 3 days??#i thought it was atleast 5#damn markus#we is alive#we am markus#love you new devils advocate fren
