#the second one hits different bc its explained in ep 1 of SVU how he refuses to return to Baltimore where he worked the Homicide squad#Cragen says to him 'Go home. John' and he responds with....that#they explain to each other that Homicide was easier - both previously coming from that#he also kinda sarcastically says to Cragen 'This time i'll do a better job of quitting'#to which Cragen responds with 'Yeah. Runnin's good' (also sarcastically)#He tells him to go home. to take care of himself#and what fucks me up about this scene is afterwards it cuts to Stabler and his kids#and theyre the same age as the kid on some of the tapes and....god#general tw
