tbh the craziest thing to me about the canadian colonial empire is that the hudsons bay company (and yes the norwesters too but You Know. 1820 happened) was effectively running an corpocracy from the 1600s until 1869. like they owned ruperts land [ed note: all current canadian land from most of ontario through to the bc/alberta border]. you know who didn’t own ruperts land? literally any actual government (ie england and then canada from 67-69 before they bought it). who made the laws at a whim and controlled the courts and was not elected and controlled all money flow and most of the official employment? one single company. and not even that, the hbc was headquartered in london england since its founding and then had its canadian offices in montreal which is a long fucking way from the northwest when you only have horses canoes and feet to get you there so really it was just like. a couple managers and whatnot who got to control this entire world. and of it wasn’t bad enough then this legacy continues to this day because in remote indigenous communities the only store is the local hbc store! who still get to charge whatever they see fit and constantly rip off people

‘David Fincher: Interviews’ Edited by Laurence F. Knapp book highlights!!
I just finished this book and it was SOOO fucking interesting, here are some of my favourite quotes from it :))
-"Because of the horrible Aliens thing, every time I hear the name Fox, it just makes me shrivel. I lose circulation in my hands and feet and I think I'm going to become a quadruple amputee.”
-"I never thought it was scary at all. I turned to the editor and said, 'My God, what have we done? We've totally let people down in the fucking terror department; we need to go shoot some dismembered bodies. Go and see if you can get someone from a morgue and chop 'em up. "
-"Right up to when we finished, I just didn't think it was violent enough. I was like, We've got a movie called Fight Club, we might as well call it Glee Club?”
-"There was absolutely nothing fun about making the movie." He gives the matter a little more thought. "Nope," he finally decides. "Nothing."
-DRE: Is Jared Leto tired of getting the crap beaten out of him in your movies? DF: He's perfect for it, isn't he? If there is any guy you want to see get his face burned off it's him.
- So now I have kids in my daughter's school who go: "Man, I love Fight Club," and you go: "Why are your parents letting you watch that? Don't come near my kid."
-I remember being a little bit, 'Uh-oh’ And Brad's drunk and Edward's drunk and Helena's drunk and they're all like, ‘It's great and we love it' and I'm like, That's fantastic. You did notice that there were six hundred other people there who walked out ready to lynch us?'"
-You know, it's like accountants and lawyers all love The Game, and college students and perverts all like Se7en.
- Empire: You've been developing Heavy Metal and Torso, among other projects. Any idea what you're doing next? Fincher: I'm sleeping for six months! I think I'm whoring myself out to come to fly around Europe and defend my honor, but I don't honestly know.
-Look, people come up to me and say, "You started torture porn." And I say, "Fuck you."
- "So it's about fighting." And they went out and sold ads for this movie on World Wrestling Federation. [audience laughs] I said, "You know, the crowd who go to the WWF are going to be made a little uncomfortable. Certainly the opening weekend, they're going to be like, 'Dude, that was gay."
-"aside from being completely unusable, it's fantastic!" They are close to wrapping the final Swedish stint of the production before flying back to LA, where they'll take the weekend off before the last week of shooting. "That gives me two days of uncontrollable weeping," says Fincher.
-"There's a quote from a film critic that David had enlarged, framed, and hung in his conference room," says Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin. "It calls Fight Club 'amoral and Godless.' I think he'd rather have that quote than a Palme d'Or."
other random things:
- Fincher came up with “ikea boy”
- Brad Pitt riding a segway around Fincher’s office and trying to convince him to join him. this was in an interview for benjamin button, and then years later in an interview for ‘the girl with the dragon tattoo’ the interviewer says there is a segway in Fincher’s office, in this article, he is also described as a ‘Segway-riding gearhead’.
- if i took a shot every time Fincher or Ed Norton compared ‘fight club’ to ‘the graduate’, i would be dead from alcohol poisoning
- my favourite interview was ‘Forget the First Two Rules of Fight Club’ by Nev Pierce for ‘Total Film’, it was so funny and well written and interviews Fincher, Norton, Pitt and HBC. i think you can find a preview of it online but PLEASE read it if you like fight club because is so fucking good!!!

Tumblr media
Made an edit?? Idk if this would be considered a redesign or just changes or what but I was thinking about ways to make HBC Roy more "distinct" if that makes sense?
And I got hit with a big burst of inspiration so I spent like the last 2½ days making this! A white coat for the Fanroy headcanon and some green to reference Robert :> Plus the eye, because I thought it'd be neat if the scar was cult-related
And some shading too because I realize Roy was the only one without shading, and I know it's to make him look SM-accurate but it's weird when he's the only one without it, y'know?
And here's the corrupted version:
Tumblr media
We only ever see his head so I had some fun for the rest of him- didn't want to try editing the hands into claws, so he still has ball-hands
*GASP*
I WAS GONNA SCREAM BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO SO INSTEAD I RELEASED A WEIRD HIGH PITCHED TEA KETTLE NOISE
HE LOOKS AMAZING
HIS JACKET
HIS JACKET PATCHES
AND HIS EYE-
WAIT IS THAT WHAT YOUR OTHER FEW POSTS WERE ABOUT!?
OH YEAH IT’S ALL COMING TOGETHER
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS

Releasing Friday, March 24th, Bale Breaker Brewing's Hellcat Energy Hazy IPA is an inspired release between 23rd Avenue Brewery and Bottleworks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This three-way collaboration hazy IPA with 23rd Ave Brewery, Seattle's first 100% black-owned brewery, and Bottleworks, one of Seattle's longest running bottle shops, embodies supercharged confidence and powerful V8 horsepower.

Announced a short while ago on their social media, Bale Breaker Brewing Company is re-releasing their three-way collaboration Hazy IPA, Hellcat Energy, this Friday in cans and on draught.
First released in November of last year, Hellcat Energy by Bale Breaker Brewing Company is a collaboration with brewery 23rd Avenue in Seattle and bottleshop Bottleworks also in Seattle.
What started as a ‘napkin’ discussion turned into a bona fide meetup in Yakima, weeks later in late 2022.

During this visit, brewery staff from Seattle’s 100% black-owned 23rd Avenue, along with staff from Bottleworks, took part in a “brew day” at Bale Breaker’s Yakima brewery. As part of the process, brewers and staff alike learned about the importance not just of ingredients but relationships. For others, this process inspired pause and reflection throughout the day, recognizing their roles not just in the food and beverage industry but humanity. Sharing their thoughts on the experience of not only taking part in the brewing process, but recognizing their unique situation, was Bottleworks’ own Chanell Williams,

Hell Cat Energy is a great example as to why we at Bottleworks are so passionate about collaborations. We are driven to use our platform to connect and foster community. We accomplished just that with this meeting of minds. It was quite the honor to be brewing on Bale Breakers system along side the 23rd Ave team. There were many moments during that brew day that made me stop in my tracks, just to take in the scene. As a women of color in an industry I am not always represented in, I felt such a sense of pride that my team was able to facilitate this incredible moment in Seattle Craft Beer history.
Made with hops Mosaic, Simcoe, Citra, and Experimental HBC 735; along with malts Pilsner, White Wheat, and oats, Hellcat Energy throttles in at 7.1% ABV and 53 IBU.

And the name? Well, it was first uttered by none other than 23rd Avenue Brewery’s co-founder Mario Savage, later that evening in late 2022. Turns out, the memories shared by all that day inspired a commitment to release a followup edition of this beer in Spring 2023.
Boldly accented by a brilliant label featuring a golden tiger against a black backdrop, Hellcat Energy Hazy IPA releases tomorrow at Seattles 23rd Avenue Brewery, Bottleworks, and Bale Breaker’s two locations in Seattle and Yakima.
To celebrate this unique moment, several of the staff from all three businesses collaborated once again by getting an inspired tattoo of the Hellcat on their person.Reflecting on this release and no doubt the countless others in the future, the crew of Bottleworks states.

We have nothing but love for these moments we get to collaborate with amazing people across the PNW. We as a team we feel it is our responsibility to continue fostering community in the craft beer industry and we won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Absolutely agree with all that's being said.
@becauseofreasons19 put it perfectly: HBC was probably cast because she had potential (and out of all of these women, probably looks like book!Bella the most) and she absolutely blew it. I think it was because she didn't really connect with the character. She probably didn't spend all this time reflecting on her and/or also wanted to try something different, to have fun on a massive production where she would get paid to be insane. I think there was an interview where she said ("They pay me to come to work, dress up like a witch and be insane" or something of the sort). Of course, as @fugamalefica said, the writing for Bella's character was abysmal (basically all her scenes with Voldemort are cut out of the movies, but for some reason, she kisses Draco's neck??? Blows up the Burrow???). I also think that HBC wanted to play yet another "iconic" character, one that people would recognize immediately based on the aesthetic (big hair, rotten teeth, etc). Quirky characters in big fantasy films become part of the zeitgeist. Probably if Bella hadn't been portrayed like that on the screen she would have gotten even less time. She was fun to see for kids, so she was kept in and even given additional scenes. It's such a pity because HBC has so much charisma that she would have nailed the character if she had applied herself/advocated for Bella more- but why turn down quick and easy money?
Also, I agree that we all have (very) different ideas of what Bella's face is like, her general physical description can fit many women. This is why I can see ideally why people fancast Katie McGrath as young Bella - apart from the light eyes, she does fit the description very well (tall, dark-haired, strong jaw, obvious good looks)... the reason we all agree that she's not a good fit is that she doesn't have Bellatrix's vibes at all (and I'm sorry to say, she's not that good of an actress). In every single fan video I see with her not one (1) of her expressions fits Bella. I wish she were a better actress, honestly, because then we could actually see if she had merit. But she was quite meh in Merlin and all of her latest roles are... *shudders*
Natalie, while completely butchering what the real Anne Boleyn was like, was much like Helena, so charismatic on screen that it's hard to stop watching her, so I can get behind that choice. The thing I like about her the most is actually her voice. She sounds like Bella to me, down to the accent, the speech patterns (just watch her recent sit down with Oxford Uni!). I like it.
The main reason I love Margot (edited the way I did) is that a) she looks exactly (no, not exactly, but comes close) to what Bella looks like for me- much like Sirius, undeniably beautiful even after 14 years in prison. There is no nuance, no "peculiar" features, no particular sort of beauty, no softness... a woman like that, during the First Wizarding War would have been the most beautiful woman in Britain and much more importantly, b) I like Margot because I've watched countless of her interviews where she describes her approach to creating characters and there isn't one, not ONE that she hasn't done justice. If she was cast to play Bella I am confident that she would try to humanize her as much as possible, which is the opposite of what HBC did. Harley Quinn in SS was the best thing in that God-awful movie. The same can be said for all her roles. There is also the innate elegance, the fierceness, the playfulness.
Rosamund Pike I cannot see as anyone but Cissy, she doesn't fit the vibe at all for me. Carice van Houten, and Lena Headey (<3) are amazing actresses, but they all seem to cold, to solemn, to ever be Bella. Melisandre, for example, is completely different from Bella, just as every character played by Lena.
Eva Green... I don't really see her as Bella in most of her work except for 300. Now, it's a terrible movie, but she's not bad. She could be Bella. Not exactly her, not exactly my first choice, as there is always a sort of austerity, of harshness that Bella doesn't have imo, but not the worst.
I know I keep changing my choice of actress for Bellatrix in a possible future adaptation, but if I'm honest the only actress I can see playing Bella perfectly other than Helena Bonham Carter (who is too old now) and Vivien Leigh (who is dead) is Natalie Dormer.
Yes, she doesn't look that much like Bella because she has a cute baby face and blue eyes, but her vibe and acting? So perfectly Bellatrix. Just watch her in The Tudors season 2 as Anne Boleyn. Bella should have fire, vibrance, and vivacity. She should also be both terrifying and vulnerable. Lara Pulver fits Bella more if looks alone are taken into consideration and her acting and vibe are also good, but I'll only cast her if Natalie isn't available.
I can't believe people used to fancast her as Narcissa and Katie McGrath as Bella, whereas she would have been so much better as Bella than Katie ever could! Not only is she a much better actress, but her aura fits Bella so well. Why did nobody think she was too fiery, too sexy for cold Narcissa but the same description fit the other sister? I wouldn't really imagine Bella looking like her while reading the books but that's only because her face doesn't fit Bella and imagination has wider and more flexible options.
And Eva Green who was often fancast as Bella alongside Natalie as Narcissa would have made such a good Narcissa because her vibe is colder and sadder, more similar to Narcissa. They had the right actresses but for the wrong characters. Why did nobody think of this?
I also adore brown eyed Margot Robbie as @sofoulandfairaday suggested as far as looks alone go, but to actually play Bella she is a little too Hollywood for me.

My first post in a while but this is dedicated to the wonderful Helen McCrory.
Her talent was endless, I adored every role she played and I hoped to have seen her in theatre one day. She was an absolute powerhouse, who radiated female empowerment in her characters and as herself. However, she was taken way too soon and unexpectedly.
Please be kind and send love to all her dedicated fans, show the same support as you would if it was your idol that had left the earth to join the heavens.
All the love to you and please message if this is a sensitive subject and you need to talk.
Helen,
Live forever above the clouds and in the light, you angel and legend. Xxx

Thank you!!!!!
Also fun fact I actually forgot about the scratches too until I grabbed the reference. I also meant to add a chip in the stem but forgot, whoops
Also!! The tails are a bit different from HB and HBC bc I got a little inspired from HBC Roy's tail looking like a heart... Now they're all card suites!
Roy is a heart, Pump is a club, and Skid is a diamond! I'm unsure who would be the spade. Susie, maybe?
WAIT DUDEMAN THAT WAS YOU?! I DIDN’T KNOW YOU HAD AN EDIT BLOG THAT’S COOL!
Oh a chip in the stem would be nice, I might take that
AH WAIT THAT’S SUCH A COOL IDEA FOR THE TAILS! I mean yeah idk who else could have the last suite… but wait would Susie even be in hell? I just thought of that right now but like how demon-ish would she actually look?
