ok i am putting on my tinfoil hat in response to this ask and i know this but jennyangel has to be about love at the core of it. like uncomfortable awful love absolutely but the whole point of them is that there is this impossible love and compassion that exists -- mostly jenny's towards angel -- and that tips the scales. i think canonically angel is totally ambivalent towards jenny but jenny repeatedly believes in and advocates for his capacity to change, which is INSANE. like she DOESN'T hate him and if made aware of that i think he would be really really unsettled, because she is supposed to.

(i don't think him knowing she was trying to help him is him being aware of what she thought of him -- amends stands as testament to this, and her actions in passion could be seen by most people not looking closely as jenny wanting to make things right with giles. but buffy and angel are also involved in her internal calculations.)
