#from the movie you'd think the parallel of student meets instructor at bar has too much audacity#and then instructor walks into class the next day and embarasses student was just a skin deep homage to the first movie#from the script it turns out that the parallels run deepes except unlike maverick in his youth who actually scored with the instructor#hangman is so fail about his crush maverick doesn't even register him beyond what a nuisance he is#hangman was living a whole cliched subplot complete with first made eye contact eith him in a bar but didn't know who he was#and said subplot wasn't ever even a blip on maverick's radar
