Children of BFFH, Entry 101

 “Please, change here.” suggested Aid as he motioned into a room.  “Momma Mila prepared an outfit suitable for you to have a little sparring session, if you’ll forgive my unusual request.” he stated with a small, humorless smile.

 I did as he instructed and was a little surprised at how perfectly the outfit fit, being something less stretchy than the spandex I had suspected when I touched it.  The sparring outfit was a two-piece, dark blue affair that was slightly thicker than normal clothing and quite obviously enchanted with how I felt the temperature adjust immediately when I donned it.  Even the shoes were of some sort of enchanted synthetic.  Father had warned me that James was becoming a legend for his foresight, but I couldn’t help trying to picture what had been done.

 The most obvious solution would have been to request my measurements from my staff at home, but I doubted that had happened unless Father had ordered them to comply.  No one else would have given information about me without asking me first.  With the considerable number of employees working at Best Friend For Hire, there could have been one stationed at the airport using some sort of magic to estimate my proportions.  If that was the case, the employee deserved a raise.  I had sensed and seen nothing.  One of the other kids might have remembered my size from our former meeting if they had used similar magic, but I had grown slightly since then.

 Thoughts of the outfit left my mind when I opened the door to find that Aid had already changed into a sparring outfit of his own, though his was red and black, possibly to go with his auburn hair where mine matched my eyes.  How fast was he?  Yes, I took the time to examine my outfit and considered possibilities as I changed, but he probably went to his room, changed clothes, and returned in the same amount of time.

 “Ready?” he asked with a polite smile.

 I nodded and followed as he started to walk, leading me past the front entryway.

 “We’ll be sparring in the Davis’ wing, so don’t be surprised if Momma Ai, Momma Mai, or Poppa Jarod wander through.  I expect Auntie Raine might show up as well, since she’ll be watching over us in case of injury.” he explained as we walked.

 “Raine was,” I started as I remembered the profiles I had read, “ the one certified for practically everything imaginable, right?”  The woman was passable as a high schooler, but I doubted she was quite so young with such an extensive number of certifications.

 “Most people would be more hung up on the idea that she’d be observing us without being present.” commented Aid.

 “Surveillance is common enough… Are you saying she won’t be using equipment?” I asked incredulously.

 “She doesn’t need to.  If she’s waiting in the gym, perhaps you should spar with her a little first, since that would give you ample practice against unexpected attacks.  She nearly showed up when you and your father attacked Luce.” he explained with a tone that clearly meant he wasn’t surprised.

 I was.  “We were being watched?” I asked, wanting to verify that was what he meant.

 Aid nodded and said, “Father was watching too.”

 I shivered involuntarily.  My father hadn’t warned me that James had some sort of reconnaissance spell in his arsenal.  Did he know?

 “Don’t worry.  Father probably doesn’t spy on us much.  He’s too busy.  Auntie Raine, however, is constantly looking out for us kids here.  She is extremely protective of her family.” he informed me.

 “Do you think I’m overprotective?” questioned Raine, who had somehow snuck up behind us, with a little worry in her voice.

 Aid stopped, turned around, and hugged her as he spoke.  “Not at all.  Thank you.” he told her, smiling.

 She hugged him back and looked reassured.

 When he stepped away, he motioned to her and said, “Marisha, this is Raine Vance, one of my non-blood aunties.  In addition to being an exemplary best friend for hire, she also helps keep things clean, does construction for our battles, protects us, heals injuries, does a little superhero work, and probably a hundred things I don’t even know about.”

 Raine blushed slightly, lowering her head to hide behind her voluminous blonde hair.  She was only around one-hundred-and-fifty centimeters tall and didn’t seem intimidating at all, but I wouldn’t underestimate someone Aid held in such high regard.

 We eventually found ourselves in a gymnasium that hosted an entire wall of weapons and practice weapons for martial arts.  Surprisingly, there were a few with which I wasn’t familiar, such as what appeared to be a pair of sword handles.

 Obviously catching what I was looking at, Aid said, “The first several feet of weapons on the left are primarily used by my elder sister, Dani.  You won’t be seeing any of them in use tomorrow.  We don’t tend to bring any weapons into our battles, other than toys like water guns.”

 “But what are those handles?  I don’t see how they could be used.” I admitted, eager to find out how such things could be used in combat.

 Aid used a couple spells to call them to his hands, and then more intricate spells to create blades out of the shimmering, silver liquid therein.  “The handles hold the mercury safely when not in use, and the types of weapons you form varies as you move.  A proficient wielder must be adept in magic and martial arts to fully make use of the dancing blades.  The wielder can create many different weapons on the fly, even poisoning enemies with the mercury through any wounds created.” he explained before sending the mercury back into the handles and the handles to the weapon rack.

 I nodded, picturing how difficult a fight against those could be.

 “The downside is obviously the amount of concentration a wielder would need for versatility rather than sticking with the standard martial spells taught to practitioners of that fighting style.” he added with a shrug.

 “Those aren’t a custom weapon?” I asked in surprise.

 He shook his head.  “Dani just found them to be pretty and uses them when dancing at times.” he admitted.

 “He says dancing, but she’s practicing the core martial arts forms created around those weapons according to the Boss.” added Raine.

 “True, but I really doubt Dani cares about the martial application.  Care to go first?” he offered, motioning for Raine and I to start sparring.

 I didn’t wait for her to finish nodding, jumping into the air to spin and kick her.  Without looking, she ducked slightly under my kick, but she didn’t strike back. I landed, spun, and kicked again, but she stepped back away from me.  When I stepped forward and punched, she easily stepped to the side.  We moved faster and faster as I tested her speed, but I remained a step behind her.  Luckily, the wood in this room seemed to be enchanted, easily supporting the force of my movement as I gave up on using spells to protect it.

 Obviously not a match with Raine on speed, I started using magic, creating a blast of wind to hit her from behind as I drove a kick at her stomach.  The wind wasn’t strong enough, merely blowing her hair.  Needing more residual energy to work with, I started using my natural magic as well, pulling swords from the weapon racks to slash at her.  Though I was wielding ten swords at once, she calmly stepped around them without seeming the least bit strained as easily dodged around my attacks.

 After letting me assail her for a dozen minutes, she tripped me, sending me rolling.  I felt something overpower my magic, tearing two swords free and throwing them toward me as I rolled, so I quickly twisted to the side.  I tried shackling her feet in telekinetic force, but she merely stepped through the spell without any noticeable effort, stealing the residual energy around me to create a blast of air that hammered me into the floor.

 From there, neither of us tried physical attacks.  I created a dart of fire to shoot at her, but she somehow redirected the arrow and created two bolts of air thick enough to be visible as a slight disturbance as they moved.  I wasn’t certain what sort of magic she had used to provide the residual energy for spells, but a thick wave of energy had poured off her in an instant.

 I tried to knock her over with a blast of telekinetic force while sending all ten swords to stab her, but she ducked the blast and tripped me again with a spell I had missed.  I didn’t see how she deflected my swords as I fell, but I felt them bounce away from her.  A fist shaped of water splashed into my face as I tried to stand, demonstrating that she could have easily finished me there.  I was rather certain she could have finished me at any time, given that she hadn’t shown the slightest strain yet.

 I held up a hand and asked “Please, stop for a moment.  What sort of natural magic do you have?  I can’t even guess at it, and I can’t hope to even land a blow without knowing.”

 Aid laughed from where he was leaning against a wall.

 Raine, however, said, “Creation.  If I used my magic, this would be even more unfair.”

 “Seriously!?  Like Mariasha!?” I exclaimed in surprise.

 She nodded.  “A bit stronger than her for now.” she claimed without seeming to be lying.

 “That’s an understatement.  Messy wouldn’t be able to put up a fight against you yet.” insisted Aid flatly.

 “No, but I’m sure she’ll get there.” she agreed.

 “That’s amazing!  Mind showing me how you’d counter some spells with that… creation… magic?” I asked, excited by the idea despite being more than a little intimidated by the idea that I was fighting someone stronger than Death’s own daughter.

 She complied with my request.  Any spell I attempted, even the most complicated I knew, disappeared in a flash of darkness as if the energy simply ceased to exist.  Then, to my amazement, she created a functioning ice cream stand with a complete selection of toppings, claiming we should take a short break.  As I enjoyed my sundae, made from the best ice cream I had ever tasted, I was quite certain that Raine would be seen as a goddess in most of the world.

There are literally millions of cold weapons that already exist in urban settings, and the best ones tend to be those that don’t look like weapons at first glance, and can be easily concealed.

Here are five basic categories of cold weapons to consider.

Before choosing one for your defense, think if you can wield the weapon effectively and efficiently, how will you train your skills and stay in good form with each weapon that you decide to carry.

A cold weapon can be defined as any device used for self-defense or killing that does not use fire or explosives to propel a projectile.

1. Edged weapons

These weapons are very common, and have been used throughout history for hunting or combat. They are the best to use for cutting, hacking, slashing, or stabbing in close combat. While some edged weapons focus on sharpened edges, others also have points that are used for thrusting rather than slashing.

Edged weapons are usually suitable for trained adults and teenagers, but they can also be used by children in an emergency. There are many edged weapons that you can purchase or make from metal or plastic.

Combat knives

This is a heavy duty fighting knife designed for hand to hand or close combat fighting.

A good example of this type of knife is the USMC KA-BAR. While these knives are designed with military personnel in mind, they are also freely available on the civilian market.

Homemade metal shanks or shivs

These are primitive and very easy to make deep cover knives. Metal shanks are easy to make from just about any piece of metal that measures 6 inches long (with three inches for the blade and three for the handle).

The basic design can be cut out with a hacksaw and then sharpened with a file. The handle can be wrapped with tape or cloth to protect the user. This shank can do great bodily harm and can be used to stab the victim multiple times without breaking.

Glass shanks

Are made from a piece of glass about a half of an inch thick and about 6 to 8 inches long. The blade can be 4 to 5 inches long. The handle should be about 3 inches long and wrapped in cloth or tape to protect your hands.

A glass shank will usually only withstand one use before weakening and falling apart. When the victim is stabbed with this weapon, it will break and shatter into many small pieces that can make nasty to fatal wound.

Obsidian stone knives

These are very sharp stone knives that ancient man used for fighting, hunting, game dressing, and utilities. The blades were made by a process called knapping; where small slivers of obsidian were broken off in order to make a blade sharp and to sharpen the edge. The knife blade was then secured into a handle by wrapping thin wet leather strips around the blade and handle.

Plastic non-metallic knives

Since these knives use no metal in there construction, they are very hard to detect by X-rays or metal detectors. These knives are made of hard plastics or polymers and can be made into any design and length.

The strength and durability of the knife, however, will depend largely on the material used to create the blade and handle. In the case of polymers or other non-metallic resins, the hardening or curing process can also play a large role in how well the knife stands up to different kinds of usage.

Daggers

Double edged blade designs are useful for slipping between ribs to do great bodily harm, or to kill.

Bowie knives

A long knife (8 – 12 inch blades) with a blade double-edged at the point. These knives can do a considerable amount of damage, and can kill when wielded for that purpose.

Spears with metal, obsidian points, or fire hardened tips

A spear can be used as a thrusting weapon in close quarters, or can be thrown to stop an individual at a distance. Spears should have a 6 to 8 foot shaft made of hard wood that is as straight as possible. The spearhead can be made of metal, obsidian, stone, or have a fire hardened tip.

You can also disguise spears as walking sticks. To do this, the spear point can be concealed under a tight fitting cover made of the same material as the shaft. When a spear is needed, just remove the spearhead cover.

2. Blunt force trauma weapons

These are primitive weapons designed to deliver blunt trauma force to inflict damage on the target. Most of these weapons are club-like in the sense that they depend on the weight of the weapon and the strength of the user to inflict damage.

These weapons should be used by strong adults or teenagers. Children can also use the lighter weight devices in an emergency.

Baseball and T-ball bats

Usually made of wood or aluminum. In countries where baseball is not commonly played, baseball bats are often thought of as weapons and are not legal to carry or possess. T-ball bats are also used in this manner. Since they are smaller and lighter, they can be easier for children and people with less physical strength to wield.

Flashlights

A large metal flashlight, like a Maglite can make a very effective improvised club. Though not specifically classified as a weapon, it is often carried for self-defense by security guards, bouncers and civilians, especially in countries where carrying weapons is restricted.

Black Jacks

A hand weapon featuring a leather-covered bludgeon filled with small lead shot; and a short, flexible shaft or strap. It can break a bone, knock you out cold, or kill. These weapons have been outlawed in the US since the 1980’s, however that doesn’t change the fact that they are very easy to make and conceal.

Shillelagh (Irish walking stick)

This is a wooden club cut as a walking stick, typically made from a Blackthorn tree. Shillelaghs also usually have a large knob on one end, and a slight tapered point on the other end.

Monkey’s fist

This is a small weapon that looks like the small bunched fist or paw of a monkey. One end of the monkey fist is a rope, while the other holds a metal weight inside a winding of rope. The rope is designed to be extended or shortened to suit your needs.

A monkey fist can easily fit on your key chain, and can also be used to store paracord for emergency needs. As innocent and small as these weapons look, they can inflict lethal injuries.

3. Object throwing weapons

These weapons can be used by all age groups and are simple to make and use.

Rope slings

The sling is inexpensive and easy to build (see my article on how to build and use one). It has historically been used for hunting game and in combat. They are typically used to throw blunt projectiles such as stone, clay balls, or pieces of metal.

Sling shots

Have a Y-shaped handle made of wood or metal with an elastic strip or rubber surgical tubing between the prongs. Sling shots are also used for launching stones and other small projectiles. Modern metal and rubber surgical tubing sling shots are powerful enough to kill small game as well as critically injure, or kill a human.

Bolas

This is a type of throwing weapon made of wooden, stone or metal weights at the ends of three interconnected cords. Usually, one cord is longer than the other two so that the heavier weights fly at the front parallel to each other and hit either side of the targets legs. The lighter weighted cord then wraps around the legs of the target. Bolas are used primarily for capturing animals, however they can critically injure, or kill a human depending on how they are aimed.

Archery equipment

Longbows can be made easily enough from natural materials as can the arrows. Crossbows are harder to construct, however they can be every bit as lethal, if not more so than a handgun. Aside from the fact that crossbows can launch their projectiles across great distances, they are also extremely quiet and are very hard to regulate.

You can build a crossbow with a minimal amount of skill in wood and metalworking.

4. Farming, gardening, and hand tools

Many agricultural tools have been used throughout history as improvised weapons for self and property defense as well as warfare. In medieval times, farmers pressed into military service often carried only their own farming tools. These tools can be used as weapons by all age groups.

Sickles – A hand-held agricultural tool designed with curved blades for harvesting. It is a good weapon for slashing and stabbing.

Hoe – One of the most practical weapons among farmers because it can be used as a staff for striking and blocking, or as an edged weapon.

Pickaxe handles – Pickaxes are common tools in the United States, thus replacement handles are still widely available. These handles have a good weight to them can be used as a club or staff.

Machete – A machete is a broad blade tool that can function as a knife or an ax. Themacheteblade is used for cutting, while the weighted upper blade provides force for chopping. Because the machete is common in many tropical countries, it is often the weapon of choice for insurrections or uprising. In combat the machete is used like a short sword.

Axes – An ax is a tool typically used for chopping, shaping, or splitting wood. Combat axes are usually either a bit larger or smaller than utility axes. The lighter weight ones can be wielded with one hand, while the larger, heavier ones require two hands. Combat axes also usually have thinner, more narrow blades designed to make deeper wounds.

Wire or rope – Use rope or wire to make a garrote. These weapons can be disguised as belts to hold your pants up. If you make a garrote, be sure to install safety handles on it to keep you from getting cut. Garrotes are outlawed in most countries, however they are so easy to make, disguise, and carry, it is impossible to say if these laws have any tangible effect.

Hand tool kits – These are the multi-purpose tool kits you usually keep around the house or in your vehicle. Screwdrivers can make excellent weapons, as can wrenches and hammers. Razor blade utility knives can also make excellent slashing weapons. Considering that the perpetrators of 9/11 used simple box cutter knives against unarmed citizens, it is plain enough to see just how dangerous various components of hand tool kits can be.

5. Improvised weapons

Improvised weapons are common everyday objects that can be used as defensive weapons. These objects are not physically altered in any way to make them into more functional weapons. They are generally utilized in their normal state.

Once you see the weapon potential of an object, you will still need to figure out how to carry and wield it for self defense. The truth is that almost anything can be used effectively as an improvised weapon and in many cases can be normally carried on the average person’s body.

These weapons can be used by people of all age groups. Since all of these items are plain everyday items, you will not need special permits to carry them around. Some, however, may be banned from carrying on planes or other sensitive areas.

Nail clippers

Small metal pocket nail clippers with a metal file/nail cleaner can make an excellent slashing weapon. Just grip the file/ nail cleaner in your dominant hand so that it extends about an inch beyond the thumb and first finger. Aim for the attacker’s eyes, face, hands, or any area that is sensitive to pain and exposed.

Pens and Pencils

Pens and pencils make good thrusting weapons when held in your hands. Your target areas will be the face, arms, and chest. The wounds made by these weapons can critically injure or cause death. You can also buy tactical pens that include other weaponized options such as blades and bright flashlights. Just make sure they are legal to carry in your area.

House or car keys

Key chains holding at least 3 or more keys make a good defensive weapon. Just set the keys so that the shafts stick out between the fingers of your dominant hand and then make a fist. Once again, you will be aiming for the arms, chest, or face. If the attacker isn’t wearing heavy garments, you can also try a blow to the abdomen.

Pant belts

A good way to use a belt to defend yourself is to hold it by the buckle and use the leather portion as a whip. The target areas will be the face, neck, back, or any other place that would cause a lot of pain.

Insect sprays

These sprays can be just as, if not more effective than mace or pepper spray. Be sure to aim for the face and eyes of your attacker. While these sprays won’t kill, they can distract an attacker long enough so that you can escape.

Contrary to the belief of some, the lack of guns will not make times safer. If anything, relying only on cold weapons can easily increase stress levels and lead to far more violence due to a reduction in the sense of personal security and safety.

Even so, having a cold weapon on hand or being able to turn a regular item into one, is a lifesaving skill! Do you master it?

Ludicrous Space Odyssey-Chapter II: Too Loud.

Once outside, the two would take the vehicle that was assigned to them. Almost immediately Ume would start to look around the whole thing form the inside and outside, noticing all the little details his eye could see from the first glance. While he was never a big fan of piloting or driving, he knew a thing or two about constructing things, preferring to know how fast and durable their transport could be in an intense situation. And as he would make some mental notes in his head while turning it on, Ryu would clearly be less interested in where she was sitting or what was around her in general as her gaze was focused on the katana that was resting on her lap.

Upon making sure that it was well kept indeed, she would pull on the handle of the thing, pulling the blade outside of its saya with the satisfying sound of the clear metal running along the surface. As her grin was practically stretching from ear to ear, she stared at the perfectly smooth surface of the dark blade before swiftly running her finger along the edge of the blade. A trail of blood would run from the light scar on her finger while the blade was as clean as ever, earning a nod from the Oni who was holding it.

"You know, maybe you could relax with the whole stabbing and slicing thing for now?" Ume said, carefully, while his eyes were focused on the area around them as he made sure to not bump into anyone accidentally.

"I am just checking. I want to make sure that those assholes didn't accidentally ruin my precious baby~" She chuckled, sticking her long tongue out and running it along the scar, covering it with a thick layer of saliva before quickly pushing the sword back into its saya. "So, where are we heading? Into some ghetto on the outskirts of the Galaxy to meet up with some fancy mafia bosses?"

Sighing through Ryu's chuckles, Ume would lean back and turn the autopilot of their vehicle for the general direction they were heading to before turning his head to her. "First, most mafia bosses actually stay as close to capital as possible. Second, there is only one place where we can possibly go; Tetryl Gekido."

"Oh, so we are going to a fancy shit hole. Nice~"

Ume chuckled as well, leaning back in his seat though not too fat since there wasn't a lot of space before looking at the front window, watching how they would start to slowly fly out into the open space. "Well, the information we seek is unofficial. We will be practically buying illegal intel on people we assume might be connected to the case as well as getting general information. And what place could be better than the jewel of underground world and even for all soft-core criminals?"

"Still surprised that Empress allowed such place to be in her Empire. And not only in her Empire, but right in the neighbouring solar system."

"Well", Ume spoke while pressing the button to allow the transport to enter into jumping mod so it would prepare for the jump to another solar system, "What were the options? Either she grants all shady people their own part in her Empire and keeps them under control or they rage around entire Galaxy."

Ryu bobbled her head left and right for the few seconds before nodding, leaning back as well while running her thumb over the part of her katana that separated handler with the blade. "Well, true. The place just rubs me the wrong way."

"Because you are Oni?"

"That too. Why do you think you rarely see any of my type there? Unless they overdose on drugs to the point of becoming vegetables, we dislike this whole thing with loud music and sex and shady assholes. Blech."

"Well, at least we are going to the good part instead of the worst, right?" Ume said, trying to lighten the mood somewhat as he could see the destain in Ryu's eyes already. People never usually liked criminal places, unless they themselves were shady, but it was different for Oni. Any, well, normal Oni always had a strong moral code. And while they could vary they would always have some common basis at their core, and those bases would almost always go against places like Kharda. "Just, try to relax, okay? We will go in, meet with certain Intel and get out."

"Yeah, that's what is always planned; yet it never goes as planned and-...Wait, you already found intel?"

He chuckled, shaking his hand left and right lightly. "Well, not fully? See, in rare cases when police force needs help from people in Tetryl Gekido, we contact information brokes. So we will meet with the one I heard my, um, coworkers refer to."

Ryu only grunted as the only answer, leaning back and placing her boots on the front panel of the ship's control area to show her utter destain with the plan. "Well, if something goes South, we can at least go with plan B."

"Which is...?"

"Physical persuasion?"

In a matter of but a few moments, their ship would finally reach the solar system, finishing their jump. Light from the system's burning red sun would quickly hit their eyes as truly bleak and empty solar system opened before them. Being mostly on the outskirt of the Kasai's Empire territory, whole placed had almost nothing. You could see their cool star which desperately was trying to make up for its lack of heat with bright, bleeding red colour. There were two planets, one of the worst planets in the entire Galaxy, with one of them being a haven for pollution and another being...Well, an example of what might happen when pollution mixes with some sort of energies. Pollution on itself is already bad, but when enormous amounts of it mixed with some sort of dark energies unleashed there hundreds of years ago? Well, it still looked like a decaying mess. Truly, this was a place which only mad villain who was trying to build most secure base ever would not pass by. As far as its neighbouring planet? Well, it was a prison for criminals who broke laws in their other prison. Where Tetryl Gekido tried to be somewhat civilized, this was the place where they sent worse of the worse...And people higher-ups didn't like occasionally.

Noticing all the grunts that Ryu was making, as well as how loudly she was making them, Ume quickly guessed that his fellow Oni friend was less than happy to see this system by itself, let alone all the corrupted planets. So he quickly turned to the planet, aiming for the port which would lead them straight to the heart of it all.

While having his own sense of justice, Ume couldn't help but admire the whole thing in a weird. There it was, another polluted plant filled with criminals and bunch of no ones. And there, somewhere to the South, was a massive crater. Crater, which land was ripped out of it and suspended into the air, with a behemoth of a building resting on top of it. And all of the lights made the really easy job of making the place seem, well, noticeable. You wouldn't just see from space, no, people who would fly too close to Kharda would often get signals on their radars; the whole place was as big, and armoured, as a middle-class warship. It was, like, flying corrupted castle among polluted hell; and Ume couldn't help but to admire it in a weird way.

But his admiration would end there since, as soon as they would finally go through the defense field and make their way out of the ship, the reality would kick in; almost right away, sights of all kinds of provoking and shady people hit their eyes along with the guards armored to the teeth, who acted as local 'police', along with all kinds of crazy smells and loud music. Grinding her teeth against each other the best she really could, Ryu simply showed her displeased with the whole thing once again. Luckily for both of them, and guards most likely as well, they were allowed to keep their weapon. They were warned that even slightly questionable action will be quickly resolved with any sort of needed measurements but hey, at least she had her katana. Now Ume just hoped that she wouldn't use it.

As they walked, Ryu would actually bend her back forward and hunch over from the pure annoyance, looking around the place. To the left, a bright shop with all the questionable types of drugs and substances. To the right, a huge 'theatre' that would provide any type of sexual services with drugs from, probably, that very shop. NJot like they didn't have those theatres back at home, but at least there they were...Better. Plus, all the raging lights really weren't helping. And, while she had protection from lights in a face of her lovely glasses, music and all the voice were still a problem.

Nevertheless, Ryu would be awakened from her begrudging slumber by quite a punch to her shoulder from Ume which seemed like he was trying to call out for her for quite some time at this point. "Ryu! Club!" Those were only words that she could somewhat understand, following his finger up at the huge and yellow sigh of the upcoming club that they were approaching. It looked like most of the music was raging exactly from there. So, naturally, Ryu would brace herself for another wave of sounds before making a quick turn there.

To her, pleasant, surprise the sounds were actually gone once she was inside. Well, not completely gone, but much quieter. Too quiet compared to what was happening outside. "U-Uh...Did my ears pop already?"

"No, this is how they work, as simple as that." He said, getting in as well before quickly providing the security robots with the special access-key they had. "They make it much louder on the outside to attract people, you know?" Once the key card was approved as the one of the higher class, showing that Ume and Ryu had resources to potentially spend, two robots would lower the yellow barrier in front of them, allowing the two finally walk inside.

Following her sheriff friend, she would look around the place, seeing all the people with all the music and all the lights and drinks and everything and...And it was just so annoying. It was really the type of thing that would make Ryu want to grab and smash something nearby. But she had a feeling Ume wouldn't really let her. "So, who are we meeting?"

"I will have to go look around for them, that would probably be our best guess. You can relax here for now. Or, you know, try to?"

Replying only with a grunt of her own, she would quickly depart from Ume to head to the bar of the whole place, deciding that she might as well get herself a drink while she waits for him to do his shady stuff. "Police force my ass." She mumbled to herself, practically pushing people away from her as she headed to the bar if not for the fact that people were already moving away from her. Even if you weren't really a fighter of any sorts, feeling Ryu's aura was still quite easy and very much enough to avoid her by a long shot. Alas, finally reaching the bar, she would take her seat at it while leaning on the table, wondering if people around here really felt comfortable being all cramped up like this. "Oi, I will have melon soda, big."

Confusion on the bartender's face was more than obvious as he looked around and back to Ryu, wondering if she was already drunk to make a sure order. Yet, once her piercing eyes would shoot through him with the intensity of dragon ready to attack, he would simply give her a nod and quickly pop a bottle of melon soda, pouring it in one of the fancy glasses around before quickly placing it near Oni lady which was oozing with kill desire.

She made her payment and simply took the glass, bringing it to her lips before allowing the bubbly liquid to fill her mouth. Rushing against her tongue, biting it with its buzzing substance and filling her with a sweet aroma of summer melon, Ryu would swallow down the drink while finally feeling the tiniest bit better. She even thought to herself that, if she blacks out everyone and everything around her out and focuses on that screen on top of her with some anime playing on it, then maybe she can even spend this time somewhat peacefully. But, it looked like Cosmos had different ideas for her.

"Darling, have nobody told you that you suppose to order alcohol in the bar~?" A sickly sweet voice rang from the right before a guy took a seat next to her with his, how it looked like, bodyguards standing right near him. "Here, let me help you~" It wasn't enough that he looked like he fell out of slug's anus with his gelled hair and fancy outfit, no, but that was voice was like Nolxux's honey.

Feeling quite sick already and seeing a glass of alcohol being moved closer to her, Ryu would simply and slowly move her cold and dead serious eyes over to the boy before grabbing the glass with liquid inside of it. Yet, instead of drinking, she would suddenly drop right at his feet before moving her head away with the same amount of care with which she started it; so none.

"Aw, you are a fighter, aren't you~?" The boy kept on going, leaning in closer as a weird grin appeared on his lips. "I like the fighting type. They always act the most submissive in bed~"

This was essentially reaching the point of ridiculous as Ryu couldn't tell if she was in just a shitty bar or shitty fanfiction. Still, taking another sip of her drink, she mostly ignored his comment. "Say, have you ever had a girl trying to put her pocket knife through your hand?"

"Oh? Why want me to help get yours out of your pockets~?"

Taking the final gulp of the drink, she simply moved the glass away so it wouldn't get harmed before looking over at him. After few more silent moments of staring, her hand quickly wrapped around the base of her katana before pulling it out. With swift and satisfying sound, the blade ran out of its saya before she tensed her muscles up, bringing the whole thing down like a meteor of sorts as the blade ran right through boy's flesh and the bartender's table with ease. Running the blade right through the wrist of his hand, and therefore right through his palm's artery and radial styloid, she made sure that he was not only stuck in this position but also the bleeding would look like there was a whale dying there.

Deciding to capitalize on the guards' confusion, who were as incompetent as they boy himself, Ryu quickly rose up from her seat and placed the palm of her hand on the back of the head of one of them. With the strength of ten mammoths, she would jerk his head down, slamming it right against the metallic table so hard that the lights under it begun flickering and spastic out. As his body falls on the ground, face a bloody mess full of metal and glass bits, the other guard was smart enough to drop the gun immediately and make a run for his life.

But just when she thought that her little problem was finally done, she heard a few people pulling out guns right at her all around the place, those obviously being a security of the club itself. "Ah, come on, you saw that he started it." Ryu groaned out before grabbing the handler of her sword, swiftly pulling it out and allowing the boy to fall on the ground as blood just kept on gushing out. "Better take care of rich pants over here. I sliced through quite a lot of veins there, he can bleed to death and all."

"Ma'am, place your weapon down and allow us to take you to the chief of security."

The fact that those nobodies were speaking in such monotonous and boring tone already pissed Ryu off, but the fact that they asked her to give up her sword so soon after she just got it really tipped her off. With a jerking motion, she got the blood off her blade before placing it on her shoulders, looking at the guards around her a slowly, crimson blood aura started building around her. "Oh? Well, you welcome to try and take me."

Yet, just at the very moment one of the security personnel tried to take step closer, a loud clap rushed through the place. As all eyes moved to its source, Ume walked out along with a person who was responsible for said clapping. It was a guy who's clothing couldn't be tighter and more revealing. One might confuse that purple haired freak of nature as some sort of exotic dancer, but based on response everyone gave him, it was clear that he was bit higher than that. "Darlings, please, do lower your guns. She is a friend of my dear guests, so allow us to relax."

"Yes, Sir Àsma!"

Ryu grunted as she kept her sword where it was, turning around and looking at Ume, who shot her quite the confused look mixed with a bit of disappointment because she couldn't keep things calm for even few moments before looking over at the guy. "And you are...?"

The purple haired Siren smiled at her, giving her a little bow before giving her a few elegant blinks with his curled eyelashes. "Seredine Àsma, owner of this lovely place and your friend's intel. But you may call me Sere. Say, shall we move to my office~?"
