Silver brainrot is real (I blame you Amy)
Just…just the idea of resting on his lap, while he tenderly soothes you with his fingers in your hair. The way his animal friends gather around you and he shushes them so you don’t wake up. And he’s wide awake, because he won’t let something like his curse make him miss this sight in front of him.

More Team Japan program announcements
Mone Chiba
FS - Ariana Concerto
Looks good, I think Mone has the power to tackle heavier classical music and I like the contrast between her SP and this.
Hana Yoshida
FS - SOS d'un Terrien en Détresse/Cirque du Soleil
Ehhh as long as it's not the cover Russian skater usually use, by Dimash Kudaibergen then it's fine.
Mai Mihara
FS - Red Violin (Aranjuez)
Warhorse but should suit Mai. El Amor Brujo was my favourite program of hers so I'm tentatively excited for this.
Yuna Aoki
SP - Adios Nonino, choreo by Misha Ge
Rion Sumiyoshi
FS - Symphonic Adiemus : In Caelum Ferro,by Karl Jenkins, choreo by Shae-Lynn Bourne
Rion, like Hana has been serving very interesting music choices since her senior debut.
Ami Nakai
SP - Umbrellas of Cherbourg, by Michel Legrand, choreo by Kenji Miyamoto
Shun Sato
FS - Jean Michel Blais - Nostos
Begging Guillaume Cizeron to find other contemporary composers and also I hope Blais' making bank with how popular he's becoming in figure skating.
Kazuki Tomono
SP - Tshegue
YET ANOTHER SERVE FROM KAZUKI THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE KING!

Hanazawa Rui (from Hana Yori Dango) is distant cousins with Michiru who introduced him to the violin. It is also through Michiru that he gets introduced to Ami whom he later starts a gradual relationship with. The rest of the Inner Senshi get very jealous when they find out Ami is dating the heir of one of the riches families in Japan.

jgp wuxi 2024 (women), a rambling summary of semi-interesting details:
five skaters attempted at least one 3A in the free skate (ami nakai, inga gurgenidze, kim yuseong, hana bath, and sophie joline von felten). only two attempts out of seven were graded with a positive GOE (yuseong's 3A and sophie's 3A+2T)
wang yihan won the bronze medal. this, coupled with her gold medal in jgp bangkok, qualifies her for the jgpf, making her the first chinese female skater to do so since li zijun in 2011
wang yihan placed second in the free skate without any triple-triple combinations
sophie von felten struggled to reenter the podium, falling twice in the free skate. strangely, judge number 6 scored her a 0.50 in composition amidst a sea of 5s and 6s
the podium is ruled by east asia

I think that either Hana no Miyako should be made a canon part of Tsukihime continuity or Ami Kuzuki should be transplanted into the mainline, for the specific purpose of having Miyako and Ami get together.
A little because it would be cute, and a lot because it would fuse the already nightmarish Arima-Tohno-Fujou-Nanaya-Brunestud family tree (or shrub, in places) to all-time fucked-up family tree world champions the Gods of Olympus through Ami's mother and, arguably, to the Shizuki-Aozaki-Kuonji(-Beowulf(?)) polycule/whatever-the-fuck-they're-doing-over-there through her dad
I want to create a scenario where Miyako has to organize the most godawful wedding reception ever imagined by a human mind and/or Akiha is trapped hosting the most godawful family reunion in all of history

I realized something recently... Well, it actually started over a year ago, but only now I thought more about it: Amy and her sisters relate a lot to Encanto.
Hikari as Isabella, although some of the similarities are more subjective. She is the oldest, often seen as the right or perfect one (by the adults around her and a little by Hana), to some extent, she complains about her sisters (especially Amy) not holding up to the same standards. But that appearance of perfection comes up from her following someone else's standards of who she should be, and she either doesn't really know who she truly is, or curb that part of her in favor of that social acceptance.
Amy as Luisa. The strong middle sister, who everyone can rely to for almost anything. Although Amy's strength is both physical and mental, they rely on her for support and advice as well. But behind that seemingly invincible facade, she is insecure and afraid to fail. She also feels that her only worth is in what she can do for others. The differences is that Amy kind of brought that pressure upon herself, taking that protector and caretaker role a little too far. Although a little comes from social pressure too. She was always told to be less of things she was and more like the other girls, the only good people saw in her was when she was being helpful, the only praise she got, so she overly focused on it, despite never stopping to be herself.
And Hana as Mirabel. The younger sister, who felt less special standing besides her talented sisters. Hikari was beautiful and a standard of perfect girl. Amy was smart and strong and everyone trusted her and relied on her power. Anything that Hana was seemed less in comparison. The difference being in the sisters' relationship, as Hikari and Amy saw her uniqueness and her own power, but Hana always thought they were just trying to be nice because, for her, everything she did was a shadow of what the others had already done. Sometimes Hana went too far trying yo be something that she wasn't, but she thought she should, to stand out and be recognized in their group, but she always went about it the wrong way, failing and having her efforts land her in trouble when in social settings.
In the end their learning journeys are quite similar. Hikari's to learn to not follow other people's standard of perfection and be herself instead. Amy's to learn it's okay to be afraid, to be insecure, to rest when needed and even rely on others. And Hana's to recognize her own strengths and that she's special in her own way, rather than hoping and trying to be like the others.

Ranking the programs at GPF - the Junior Women SP edition
Was it the best junior women’s field at JGPF in ages ? Imho yes without a question. Great skating all around, some pretty stunning programs and loads of (hopefully) future stars.
And it showed in the choreography. I enjoyed most of theses programs, some have outright made my best of the season list.
As usual, from least favorite to favorite
6 - Chaeyeon Kim - Everybody Knows, choreo by Yeaji Shin
Chaeyeon Kim is that rare skater of whom I can I say that I love her packaging... While disliking her programs this season.
Let me explain : while most Korean ladies, junior and senior, are packaged as classical, lyrical skaters, with long lines, shimmering dresses and tiaras, and while they nearly all have to skate the inevitable Yuna Kim tribute (still have PTSD from the Oly season), Chaeyeon stands out in imho the best ways.
Her skating is nothing like those of her teammates. It’s much more agressive, combative. Her music choices feel outside the box, so does her choreo, which is more likely to feature split jumps, flying kicks, than Ina Bauers and flowy arms.
And it’s good ! Her SP infortunately isn’t. It’s far too busy and instead of a Yuna Kim tribute, you end up with something looking like it came straight from Dany G and Tutberidze team.
Also junior skaters and fresh seniors shouldn’t skate to a Leonard Cohen song, especially this one. Especially when the lyrics include
“Everybody knows that the naked men and women
Are just a Shining artefact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead”
I don’t think Chaeyeon can understand, let alone interpret those lyrics
5 - Jia Shin - The Giving, choreo by Yeaji Shin
Ranked low because that short failed to leave an impression. I can’t even recall what the music was, besides “that thing Marin Honda skated to once”.
And tbh it’s a disservice to Jia. I’m not that fond of the “Jia vs Mao, Yuna vs Mao 2.0″ dynamic developping because hype and kids don’t mix, but if we go down that road, I think that compared to Mao Shimada, Jia’s team really dropped the ball on the choreo this year. Mao’s programs were perfectly suited to her strengths, punchy and memorable, be it because of the costume (bright yellow Mao as Little Simba), or because of the choreo (that stunning choreo sequence in Passepied). Jia’s team probably attempted something more mature and elevated, which ended up being way too muted and failed to showcase what a stunning skater Jia is (her FS is better in that regard).
4 - Mao Shimada - The Lion King, choreo by Cathy Reed
Not the best thing there is, all in all it’s a pretty standard junior program, and it does its job perfectly. It fits Mao perfectly : it’s fun, it’s feisty, it’s cute. The music is an easy crowd pleaser, the dress is glorious.
3 - Minsol Kwon - Danse Macabre, choreo by Yeaji Shin
Speaking of inevitable Yuna Kim tributes... I don’t mind them among juniors. It’s absurd to expect individuality or personnal taste from junior skaters. They are learning and maturing, and doing that by skating tributes to former great skaters, or by skating to warhorses, where the interpretation might be easier, is a pretty good choice. It’s like learning your classics before composing.
Like Mao, this SP is nothing special but it helps that Minsol is hands down the best performer in this field, none of the juniors come close to the intensity she puts on the ice. And Danse Macabre is such a fun piece of music for that.
2 - Ami Nakai - I Got Rythm, choreo by Akiko Suzuki
First of all, I’m a sucker for I Got Rythm programs
Second of all, Ami Nakai had the performance of the day at JGPF. She went into it with so much speed and enthusiasm, she had a wobble on one of her spin. But besides that this was stunning. And I’ll stand by that, she was underscored. While yes her jump technique can be scary, and is far from the likes of Chaeyeon, Jia or Mao, her PCS should be up there with Jia and Mao. She has arguably the best SS of the field, very good posture and good musicality.
Third of all, Akiko Suzuki’s choreo is very good. The step sequence in particular is a stand out, and at JGPF, Ami managed to get level 4.
1 - Hana Yoshida - Dog Days Are Over, choreo by Lori Nichol
When Lori is on, she delivers all time bangers. Hana’s SP is a gem. The choreo is perfect and chock full of small details that highlights the lyrics. The bestie squats while she does the wave with her arms, while Florence’s voice swirls. Running on the ice, The head skaing choreo. The shoulder shrug...
And it’s such a shame that Hana basically peaked at her JGP events, and her season went kinds downhill after that. At Courchevel it was glorious, but she never managed again to be relaxed enough to sell it.
But it was glorious.
