Hey, I just thought of something I can do for inbox trick-or-treating! If you send me an ask, then I can give you a list of songs based on pairing the characters in your username. It's all instrumental VGM, so if that's your jam, head on over. I'm marathoning Over the Garden Wall for the first time, since I hear it's a good show for Spooky Night, so it might take me a bit to get back to you, but anyone who drops by tonight (or tomorrow, just in case) will get answered! This is absolutely not part of a plan to indoctrinate my followers into Touhou, who told you I was handing out Touhou music specifically?

Yeah I think it's stupid that my Halloween arrange only got 4 notes (from a professional VGM composer)

I guarantee you that if I drew an anime woman with huge badonkers (no offence to people who like and draw this btw), it would've gotten more notes, even though music is what I do professionally, people just don't click play because it takes "so much effort" to click on an audio post compared to witnessing and consuming all of the art in 1 second (yes I know there's also details to appreciate but you get my point)

The Tumblr "meta" with audio posts is dumb, only meme audio posts get traction here, it's hard to be a musician on Tumblr compared to visual artists, because people don't take the time to appreciate it

I don’t think it’s cringe. Tbh I’m really biased in favor of Fox—-we’re about the same age and both probably spent too much time on starmen.net when we were kids. I didn’t play the Halloween hack when it came out but I played it about a year after. I didn’t need him to explain the Lufia moss joke or that the opening to Deltarune was a Secret of Evermore thing. Like I also played way too much on zsnes

obviously he has a very big fandom and at that point ‘overrated or not’ becomes an impossible thing to say. Sometimes I think of him as a great pastiche composer, in the positive way—-especially w/ Undertale I *felt* like I could normally identify which VGM piece, Mitsuda etc he was taking as a model. But putting that aside, he’s written numerous wonderful melodies, he’s shown countless people the artistic possibilities in soundfont usage, and sure his leitmotif usage isn’t Berg or something, whose is? but it *is* genuinely thoughtful and clever. What’s there to hate? For my nephews and my niece he’s not even something to have an opinion on, he’s a fact. I think he earned it
