SQUINTIOOOO IS ALIVE (a green turd caterpillar I found in the dog daycare backyard threatened to be eaten, made it a little dirt bin at home once I figured out it burrows, and my friend was talking about how stupid fancy academy award movies that the general public never see because they're only released at private theaters and they're called dumb shit like The Trials of Squinto and that made me laugh enough to write that on tape and dub the moth that. its a Hagen's Sphinx moth btw)

Hagen's sphinx moth.
Unfortunately I think I may have hurt him when I tried to slide my hand under him. :(
I will try not to in the future

Moth Reflected Softly
flickr
Moth Reflected Softly by Rachel H.S. Via Flickr: A gorgeous giant Sphinx or Hawk Moth found on the door on the inside of a hot port-a-potty by the Tulip Trestle. I grabbed several photos of it (door held wide open) then tried scaring it off to free it from its horrible trap in the smelly plastic potty, but instead of clumsily fluttering away to find love by the rising moon, it fell off the door and into my hand dead. :-/ I have tried to identify it specifically, but no such luck. Hagen's Sphinx? Pine Hawk Moth? Catalpa Sphinx? Something else?

Hello it’s me again! I come bearing more mothy friends from work!

LOVE this beautiful black and white spotted girl on the left, I just think she is so gorgeous! Her wings looked a little torn up on the bottom, I wonder if that’s why she’s so tucked together? I didn’t get to see her fly away, but she moved on within 10 minutes of me taking this picture. And our friend here on the right was trying to sneak in the front doors, what a mischievous little scamp! If you zoom in you can see his amazing green coloration, I love him! He seemed to have some battlescars too unfortunately, his left wing seemed a little torn up at the bottom and he was missing all of his right antennae.

And I took this guy’s portrait last night! I love the composition of this picture, idk I’m very proud of it for some reason. He was hiding under this leaf for like a solid hour, totally unmoving.
(All from NE TX again)
Another group of perfect pals! It's not abnormal for giant leopard moths to rest with their wings folded in like that. Also not unusual to have so much scale loss on their wings. Giant leopard moths mate for more than 24 hours at a time, and scale loss on the wings happens a lot during that.
The other moth isn't too terribly battered! May not even be near the end of it's lifespan of a couple weeks yet. They look like a Hagen's sphinx, which is not one I've ever had submitted before, so that's a fun find! Love their mossy green color.
I love the wolf spider photo, too, you should be proud! And they are a very nice little spider. Just chillin', love that. Thank you for sharing more friends!
