Whatever they had needed, so far the Lighthouse had provided. [...] A building, newly risen out of the reaches of the Fade and connected to the courtyard, sits behind them, conspicuously filling once empty space. The exterior of the square, stone structure betrays nothing about its purpose, and no lantern hangs over it's wooden door. Stained glass windows depicting scenes of nature- halla and ravens- dot the sides, but give no glimpses inside. "New room?" Rhava asks the obvious question, "Has anyone been inside yet?" When Imeric and Lucanis give twin shakes of their heads- an expected response- Rhava nods like he's made up his mind. He starts forward, threading the needle between them to start up the floating slabs serving as steps. "Well, let's have a look, then." (Rook, Bishop, and Lucanis find a new room in the Fade, sparring occurs, and tension grows.)

Rhava had spent an hour running exercises in his room. The chaise lounge he usually slept on and the tables that accompanied it had to be pushed to the walls to make room, and even then, he was worried a Fade-step too far would put him in the fish tank. It was too crowded, with too many things on the wall he didn't want to accidentally incinerate. It makes him nostalgic for Treviso, and the sparring space available there. Even the woods of Antiva had been better, there were clearings and ruins that were less of a fire hazard than this.

Going through his exercises in the courtyard would put him in the way of anyone trying to get through, but at this point, he was willing to sacrifice his team's freedom of movement if it meant saving his sleeping space. And the fish. He would feel bad if he caused an explosion in their tank.

The perpetual daylight of the Fade always blinded Rhava when he emerged from the Lighthouse, so the commotion in the courtyard reaches his ears before his eyes.

"What is it?" Imeric asks, sounding suspicious.

"I'm not sure," Lucanis replies, sounding thoughtful.

Rhava's eyes adjust, and he smiles at the sight of his two favorite people. The two of them look away from the object of their conversation to look at Rhava instead. When Imeric and Lucanis give twin shakes of their heads- an expected response- Rhava nods like he's made up his mind. He starts forward, threading the needle between them to start up the floating slabs serving as steps.

"Well, let's have a look, then."

He doesn't bother giving the building a proper Crow appraisal, assuming Lucanis had already done so. Whatever magic is surrounding it, he also assumes Imeric has already felt it out for danger. Rhava considers them better in both of their respective crafts than he is at either, but takes comfort in knowing they'd use that skill to warn him if he were about to walk into danger. Considering neither take the opportunity to stop him as he passes by, and instead fall into step with him, he feels safe investigating.

The hinges of the door creak with neglect, and Rhava has to put his shoulder behind the push to get it to budge. What awaits the trio inside is surprisingly welcoming, though. The light filtering in through the window scenes casts the room in a warm light, like golden hour in the forests of Antiva. There is an open area that takes up most of the room, with benches along two walls and gray padding on the floor. Towards the back of the room, shelves, racks for weapons and armor, and workbenches form neat rows. Rhava is pretty sure he even spots the required instruments for mixing potions and poisons glimmering on one of the workbenches.

Imeric makes their way to the back of the room first- Rhava's guessing he'd spotted the same apparatus. Lucanis strolls onto the mats, looking around the sparring area like he's doing calculations. Rhava opts to trail after Imeric, head already abuzz with thoughts and plans.

"This is perfect," Imeric can hear Rhava's beaming grin in his voice without having to look over their shoulder.

"Yeah?" They know he's going to continue talking anyway, but they still like to play along.

"Yeah! I was just trying to run through exercises in my room. Got nervous about frying the fish, which is why I came outside. And, bam! Here's a space I can finish in without fucking anything up," Rhava runs his fingertips along the weapon racks as they pass by them. There's not a speck of dust on them.

"I guess the Lighthouse didn't appreciate the threats to its safety," Imeric laughs. They're no stranger to helping Rhava find clear spaces to practice. Normally, they would join him in that practice, and enjoy the closeness of sparring. Now, they brace themself to turn down the request they know Rhava will make.

"You wanna spar with me?" Rhava's leaning against an empty shelf, watching Imeric inspect the potion-making implements.

"I should stock up in here," the excuse comes readily, "Maybe go ask Harding for a few things."

Rhava nods and looks down at the floor, telling himself that it hides the disappointment that briefly flickers across his face. He had expected Imeric to say no, and planned on asking them to help get things settled in here anyway. They were always one step ahead of Rhava, despite their frequent protests about not being good at chess.

"Right. That would be very helpful, thank you," Rhava says, trying to roll with the rejection, "You're always so thoughtful, lethallen."

"Maybe Lucanis will spar with you," Imeric says, hoping that their continued help will soothe Rhava's disappointment. They hate seeing those hazel eyes darken, like clouds stealing away tree dappled light.

Rhava lifts his head, and Imeric is relieved to see the sunshine return to his expression. Rhava shoots a look over his shoulder, surprised to find the assassin still lingering in the open space. Imeric doesn't know why, the two of them are always looking for excuses to spend a few moments more together. A sparring room provides far more than that.

"Brilliant idea," Rhava says, pushing himself to stand from the leaning position he'd settled into, "Smart as ever, Im."

Imeric is left to explore in peace as Rhava stalks through the rows of racks and shelves to approach Lucanis from behind. He's not trying to surprise him, he knows by now that the Crow can likely both hear and sense his approach. Lucanis had described it as an itch behind his eyes, one that he mentioned was ever present in the Fade. Maybe that was part of why he holed himself up in their pantry. A respite from all the magical noise.

Despite lacking the element of surprise, Lucanis allows Rhava to "sneak" up on him. Rhava can't tell if he's just playing along, or if his attention is actually fixed on the image of two halla in the window before him and he simply trusts Rhava. Either way, the elf is grateful to be allowed his moment of fun.

"Hey," he pokes Lucanis' shoulder, pointedly, and gives the man a cocky grin when he glances back at him, "Fight me."

"Excuse me?" Lucanis turns to face him fully, raising an eyebrow. There's a small smile brewing in his eyes, that hasn't quite reached his lips yet.

"Spar with me," Rhava clarifies, "I've spent way too long running exercises alone, I want something real. Show me what you've got, Mage Killer."

Rhava puts emphasis on the title, purring the words out. It's a taunt and an invitation. He's seen Lucanis' skills wielded against their enemies, he wants a better look at them. Getting a better look at Lucanis in the process was just a bonus, he told himself.

"If you two are gonna spill each other's blood, I'm gonna need these shelves to not be empty," Imeric pipes up, finally emerging from the back of the room, "I'll be right back."

There is a silent beat after the creaking door shuts behind Imeric.

"I would rather not spill your blood, Rhava," Lucanis says, crossing his arms and furrowing his eyebrows in concern.

"Okay," Rhava shrugs, still grinning, "Then don't. And I won't use any offensive magic so I don't blow you up."

"But we don't have any practice blades-" Lucanis protests.

Rhava takes a step closer to him, cutting him off, "We'll be very careful. And it'll be okay. Imeric will be back and can heal up any little cuts or bruises. We're used to playing rough."

Lucanis looks distant for a moment- Rhava suspects Spite is making his opinion known- and then shoots him another considering look. Rhava takes it as encouragement, grin widening.

"If we're gonna do this," Rhava lets his eyes rake up and down Lucanis' well dressed form, "You should probably ditch some of those layers. Don't want to slice up your nice silks. Or give me an advantage."

To make his point, Rhava tugs playfully on the chain connecting Lucanis' bird skull collar pins. Lucanis sways just enough that Rhava can imagine that he wanted to be pulled closer, but holds his ground enough that it's just a fantasy.

"How considerate of you," Lucanis says warmly, only half joking.

Rhava gives him a sparkling wink before breaking away from Lucanis to wander over to a bench. Always focused on the task in front of him, he doesn't waste any time ditching layers of his own. Not that he has many to lose with how he casually he dresses around the Lighthouse. Lucanis' eyebrows curve up towards his hairline in slowly building surprise as he watches Rhava unceremoniously remove his shirt. He gives it a cursory fold before setting in on a bench and starting to braid his hair. Lucanis lets eyes wander up and down Rhava's newly revealed back, trying to memorize freckles and scars he sees there. His eyes drift lower, over the soft curve of Rhava's butt and down past strong thighs. He wants to dig his fingers into the supple flesh there, leave the elf covered in fingerprint bruises- marks that prove he was there.

Seemingly only then remembering that they're there supposed to be preparing to spar, Lucanis forces himself to look away and walk to the other side of the room. He has more work to do to prepare himself, layered up as he is. In comparison to Rhava's haphazardly set aside garments, he neatly folds his vest and sets his accessories on top of it.

"You're gonna ruin your shirt," Rhava says from his place on the floor. He'd started stretching during the extra time Lucanis had taken to remove his bits and bobs.

"It can be washed," Lucanis' words are mild, "Or mended."

He sounds restrained,like he has something on his mind other than what leaves his lips. Rhava gives a wolfish grin, proud that seeing him stripped down to just a bandeau, pants, and boots had such an effect on the man. Barely half-naked and Lucanis already looked a shade redder. Rhava was desperate to see what he would look like if given even better view.

"Are you ready? Need to warm up?" Rhava asks, leaning back from the splits he'd stretched himself into and crossing his legs.

"I am plenty warm," Lucanis says, and clears his throat, "I had been running exercises in the dining hall prior to finding this place." He waves a hand to gesture to the building sheltering them from the Fade.

"Oh! Had the same thought, I was practicing in my room. It's too cramped in there, though. I was gonna try the courtyard, and now here we are." Rhava stands up, readying his mageknife.

"Then we're birds of a feather," A genuine smile splits Lucanis' face, Rhava can't even tell that he's pretending he didn't just hear him tell Imeric the exact same thing. He's excited for a friendly spar, and charmed by Rhava maintaining his casual affectation and excitement about the Lighthouse even as they square up with each other.

"Is that all you brought?" Rhava gestures to the dagger in Lucanis' hand with his chin.

"Do you think I need more?" Lucanis raises an eyebrow, a playful challenge.

It's Rhava's turn to look pleasantly surprised, and be reminded that he's about to spar with famed Demon of Vyrantium. Grandson of the First Talon. Master assassin, with a demon's assistance. Lucanis is a better swordsman by far, and even with just a dagger Rhava has the feeling he is likely outmatched. Even still…

"Alright, Dellamorte," he widens his stance, readying himself, "Don't go easy on me."

"I wouldn't dare," Lucanis falls into the back and forth of Crow banter easily, and playfully sneers out the words, "De Riva."

They're new dance partners, still finding their rhythm together. Lucanis leads, lunging first.

It's a stilted affair at first- movements too fast or too slow. Neither of them are sure when to press forward and when to hold their ground, and Rhava is the first to spill blood due to the uneven push and pull. He's aggressive, which usually works to Lucanis' advantage. Not here. They're used to fighting at each other's sides, working over and around the other as they wrought death on those who dared cross them. This was different- somehow more intimate. Watching each other's bodies, only meeting gazes to gauge next moves.

They're so focused on learning the moves to this choreography, that they don't acknowledge Imeric opening the door to the sparring room. If the two of them can see them walk to the back of the room carrying the crate full of herbs Harding had so helpfully provided, they don't give any indication. For now, it's probably for the better, since the sight of someone attacking Rhava, even in a safe setting like this, set them on edge. Yes, that's the reason they feel hot and antsy. The sight of Rhava, eyes narrowed in concentration, hair slowly escaping it's messy braid, with sweat glistening on his freckled skin? That had nothing to do with it, it certainly didn't make them want to put their hands on him. They'd just busy their hands stocking shelves and preparing potions, that would soothe this protective urge.

If it had been any other member of the team, Imeric would feel more comfortable. Rhava's too slippery for Davrin or Taash to really hurt him, too unpredictable for Neve or Emmrich to get a good read on him, and Bellara and Harding weren't as used to close combat. Lucanis was a Crow, and a mage killer. A perfect weapon, honed to kill people just like Rhava. He was dangerous. He made puppy eyes at Rhava over coffee too often.

The discordant sounds of metal clashing had smoothed out into something almost pleasant. It's easy for Imeric to to listen, and tune out the stray thoughts circling their brain like vultures. But just as soon as a rhythm is found, it starts to lull, and is quickly interrupted. Rhava has never been patient.

"You're pulling your hits!" Rhava snaps, "You promised not to!"

Lucanis can't help but laugh, half because Rhava sounds like Spite in this moment, and half because he's right. Without realizing it, Lucanis had slipped into a predictable pattern, one that Rhava didn't have to work hard to respond to. The air around Rhava when he cast spells, or even Fade-stepped, was a balm on his trained senses. The places where he feels pressure on the Veil- where the itch behind his eyes starts- Rhava finds and pierces, relieving the itch and coaxing out what he needs from the puncture. He had been enjoying that soothing feeling, the way it wound around him as they danced.

But he had promised, and he wasn't going to break a promise to Rhava if he could help it. When Rhava next makes a jab at him, overly aggressive in his frustration, Lucanis sidesteps the motion easily, and shoulder checks Rhava to throw him off balance. A mix of surprise and satisfaction at having his request honored flashes across the elf's face, ears flicking up as he grins. His aggression doesn't lessen, but being kept on the back foot isn't something Lucanis minds here. Rhava is telegraphing his moves clearly enough for him to dodge and weave- a quicker rhythm being set between them. It takes longer than Rhava would like for him to land a blow, an elbow in Lucanis' gut. Not the most effective, but contact is contact.

It's then that Spite's wings finally extend from Lucanis' back. Either Lucanis had finally decided he needed the help, or Spite was too excited to stay dormant any longer. The mix of focus and enjoyment written on Lucanis' face in a smug little smile doesn't give Rhava an easy answer.

Rhava huffs out disgruntled noise- two on one is hardly a fair fight- but he doesn't have long to dwell on his frustration. Lucanis is readying to lunge at him from across the room, and with Spite's wings propelling him it'll only take a stride for him to close the gap. Rhava thinks fast enough to use the speed against him. When Lucanis expects him to Fade-step away, he instead finds a pocket to propel himself upwards as he steps forward. He meets the assassin half-way, thighs locking around his head. Rhava jerks his body backwards, using the momentum to throw Lucanis bodily over himself and onto the padded floor. He lands kneeling over Lucanis' shoulders, rewarded with the satisfying thud of bodies hitting the mat and the clatter of a dropped dagger. A feeling of pride over the showy move he'd just pulled out washes over him- if he had feathers he'd puff them out. To his credit, Lucanis is looking up at him from between his thighs with a look of adoration that makes Rhava feel like there's a live current running through his veins.

Its a short lived moment, as those brown eyes as fill with a purple glow. Rhava should have expected this, it was a showy move but it was also a cheap one- he knew it would get a rise out of Lucanis.

"Not. Fighting. Fair!" Spite hisses as Lucanis suddenly rises up underneath Rhava.

Rhava's not prepared for it, too caught up in the moment of victory to remember everything that comes after it. It's easy for Lucanis to reverse their positions, wrapping his arms around Rhava's thighs to dump him onto his back and fold him over himself. His legs are spread wide around Lucanis, knees hooked over his arms- it's an immediately compromising position that he'd normally enjoy being put into. As riled up as he is, all Rhava can think about is how to escape. He'd dropped his mageknife when Lucanis had reversed their positions, but he was hardly helpless unarmed.

He reaches a hand up towards Lucanis' chest, fingers splayed as he prepares a blasting spell to push him away. Lucanis is ready for him. He's experienced with the instincts of cornered mages, even the most unpredictable ones like the elf underneath him. He grabs Rhava's hand and pins it by the wrist to the floor above his head. His other hand moves to cover Rhava's mouth, serving both to cut off his chance at setting off the verbal component of the spell and to hold his head down so he can't do something rash like headbutt Lucanis.

Still squirming underneath Lucanis' restraining hands, Rhava reaches his free hand up to claw at one of Lucanis' arms. It's a useless endeavor, he knows Lucanis- and Spite- have him beat, but he refuses to concede an easy win to them. Like the demon is responding to his spitefulness, a purple arm extends from Lucanis' side to grab Rhava's free hand and pin it to the floor alongside the other.

"Nmmf frrr!" Rhava protest is muffled beneath Lucanis' hand, though he is confident he understands the words anyway.

"You said not to go easy on you," he teases, looming over Rhava and grinning.

There are worse ways to lose, he supposes, worse sights he could be treated to. Lucanis is a feast for Rhava's eyes- flushed and panting from effort, his mouth tilted in a handsome but smug smile. He's looking down with those warm, creased eyes Rhava has always felt lucky to see pointed in his direction. Rhava wants to mess his tousled hair up even more. Driven by that urge, he squirms in Lucanis and Spite's grasp again.

"Stay down," Lucanis breathes out, voice edging on a threat.

The timbre of his voice goes straight to Rhava's gut, making his stomach flip. He's not sure whether he wants to do as he's told, or struggle even harder to get him to say it again. Lucanis can see the mischief and indecision glimmering in his eyes.

There's a third option he decides. Parting his lips underneath Lucanis' hand, he darts his tongue out to run it experimentally along one of the lines of his palm. Not for the first time that session, Lucanis' eyebrows arched as shock wiped the smug look clean off of his face.

"What are you-" He breathes out, unable to finish the question before Rhava makes his next move.

Lucanis' pleasantly secure grip on him has barely wavered, but the hand on his mouth has loosened the most. There's enough give for Rhava to tilt his head to the side and take one of Lucanis' fingers into his mouth. He wastes no time sucking on the digit, giving in to impulse easily.

"Rhava," Lucanis gasps out the name, and it sounds like both a warning and a plea.

He responds by widening his lips to try and coax a second finger into his mouth. Lucanis seems to understand the goal, plunging two fingers into Rhava's mouth and gently pressing down on his tongue. Rhava's eyes light up with excitement, and the responding look from Lucanis is one of wide-eyed hunger. Tentatively, he shifts his hand so can he pull his fingers partially out of Rhava's mouth, and then pushes them back in again. The moan that Rhava hums out is accompanied by a hollowing of his cheeks as he sucks on Lucanis' fingers. It's a lewd sight that fills the assassin's mind with a litany of ideas as Rhava stares up at him, eyes glimmering with intent in the warm light.

He pushes his fingers, in and out, in and out. After a few repetitions, he adds a third finger and delights in the sight of Rhava adjusting to the intrusion. The soft, needy noises he's making get wetter as he coats Lucanis' fingers with his tongue, lavishing the digits with attention. His eyes have slipped close, to focus better, and he looks vulnerable in a way Lucanis has only seen once before.

Rhava can tell that he's started to drool, but he doesn't care. This is the closest he and Lucanis have ever been, physically anyway. Their first kiss was a sweet moment, but left Rhava wanting so much more. That was honey and lavender cream. This is spiked with rum. Intoxicating- warming them both to their cores. Pressed together and separated by only a few layers of cloth, he can feel Lucanis quickly growing hard between his legs. The realization of the totality of his effect on the man sends a tingle up his spine. He shifts enough to roll his hips against Lucanis', hooking one leg over his hip to pull him closer. Lucanis should have pinned his legs down too if he didn't want Rhava to use them.

"Rhava," Lucanis says again, more desperate this time. There is no askance in his voice anymore, only raw need, caution consumed by the roaring fire of desire. With his eyes closed, Rhava can't see the intensity Lucanis is looking at him with. He's barely blinked since they ended up on the floor together, like he doesn't want to miss a single second of the sight before him.

Imeric can see it, peering through half-stocked shelves. They should have left, or interrupted them, or done something minutes ago. They should have done anything other than just stand there and watch- a lit torch confined to its alcove, watching a wildfire start burning with envy. But if they interrupted, they wouldn't get to listen to the filthy noises Rhava is making. Those should be my fingers in his mouth, Imeric blushes at the absurdity of thought. Trapped by their conflicting agonies, they don't look away as Lucanis pulls his spit-slick fingers out of Rhava's mouth, and finally closes his eyes as he leans down to press his lips against Rhava's.

If Rhava wasn't being held down he would surge up to meet Lucanis in the kiss, but the assassin only pins him further by lowering his torso over Rhava's. He holding himself up with his newly freed arm, still relying on Spite's help to keep Rhava securely in place.

Lucanis is kissing him like he's drowning, like he thinks he's still in that underwater prison and Rhava's lips are his only way out. It's the reverence and desperation of a man who has done nothing since their first kiss but think about it. Rhava never wants it to end. Lucanis presses at the soft line of Rhava's lips with his tongue, and Rhava's lips part to welcome him inside hungrily. He can feel Lucanis rocking against him slowly, and the way it sparks a need for more in him makes him feel like he hasn't been touched properly in years. Using the leg he has hooked around Lucanis' hip, he encourages him to grind down against him harder, and rolls his hips up to meet the motion in kind. A different rhythm to be found between them.

"Emma salin," Rhava pleads against Lucanis' lips, separating just enough to breathe.

Lucanis' eyes slip open a sliver, searching Rhava's face. He's not sure entirely what's being asked of him, and is about to whisper out a question when the sharp crash of glass breaking sounds from the back of the room. Three bodies freeze.

"Im-"

By the time Rhava is gasping out his realization, Lucanis has already started to extricate himself from their tangle. Rhava feels his racing heart clench at the loss of contact and heat, torn between his mortification and his desperation. He knows what comes next, and the knowledge of it makes him feel too heavy to get up from the floor. "I- Should step out," Lucanis says, polite words barely masking how flustered he is, "Excuse me."

Rhava closes his eyes tight. Lucanis' words give him deja vu. He wonders if he wishes hard enough, would the Lighthouse do him the courtesy of swallowing him into the floor of the building it just summoned for him? He doubts it. Now overly aware of his surroundings, he can hear Imeric swearing quietly in elvhen, and the quiet clinking of glass being cleaned up. Guilt drives him to his feet, feeling bad about both forgetting his situational awareness so severely and not jumping to make sure Imeric was okay as soon as he'd heard the glass break.

"You good, lethallen?" Rhava calls.

"Yes. I am completely fine," Imeric doesn't look up from the glass they're sweeping up as Rhava approaches, "But I'm not done cleaning, so just stay over there for now."

Rhava raises an eyebrow at Imeric, placing his hands on his hips. They sound strained, and while Rhava can't see their face well, he thinks they looked flushed all the way to the pointed tips of their ears.

"Are you sure?" Rhava presses, "No cuts or nothing?"

"I'm sure, Rhava," Imeric mocks his tone, and the familiarity of the teasing reassures him.

"Okay, fuck me, then," Rhava says, equally teasing. He doesn't notice the effect his phrasing has on Imeric as he spins on his heel, "Guess that's what I get for trying to play nurse for you. I'm gonna get some water, I'll come check on you to make sure you didn't just lie to me in a bit."

The joke earns him a snort from Imeric. The promise of Rhava coming back to potentially fuss over them is a pleasant one though, one they linger on as they watch him walk towards the door.

"Oh, and Rhava," they call, as he's about to pull the door open, "If that's the strategy Lucanis is going to use to kill Ghilan'nain, I think we're gonna need to find a different assassin."

The way Rhava's posture stiffens and his ears quickly flick down and turn pink brings Imeric a small amount of spiteful satisfaction. A final verbal spar of their own to haunt Rhava as the door creaks shut behind him.

But yes, king consorts do exist. Multiple of them have been connected to queens of Britain: most especially Mary of Scots, who has in fact, had two king consorts throughout her rule.

As for your statement regarding Aragon and Castile, believe me I have considered this, but the thing is, IF Isabella and Reginald had a similar situation with Isabella I and Ferdinand II: It would unify their nations, as what had happened to Aragon and Castile, creating Spain.

But Gardania had never been indicated to have been a unified nation, as it had previously existed before Isabella was married, and is the kingdom that she is the rightful heir to.

If we go the Mary of Scots road, then any heir of theirs would likely end up ruling both kingdoms (as what had happened with James VI of Scotland, a.k.a. James I of England).

HOWEVER, we never get any indication of Blair being coronated as the ruler of another country, like what naturally had happened with good old Jamie, being King of both England and Scotland after inheriting the entire goddamn island from his parents (and I mean the whole fucking island, by the way, because by then Wales had been under the English for a little under two or three hundred years, give or take, so we're not even going to talk about Cornwall).

But we're going through Mary's road anyway.

This leaves us with a very clear answer as to why he gets to be King consort instead of Prince: Isabella had probably made a request to Parliament to give him the title. (Something which Queen Victoria herself had also done, outside of our girl Mary but was rejected.)

He's either a real king, with his own country to run, or just a dude who's clearly in the line of succession of a ruling family. Because he'll only be Prince consort if he was just a commoner or part of the nobility.

There are two answers as to how this whole shebang worked: (let's be real, there are only two.)

Title was rightfully granted by parliament: He was given the Crown Matrimonial, so he can be king jure uxoris (by the right of his wife), which gives him the right to rule with equal power, even if Isabella suddenly just croaks out of nowhere (Francis I of France situation, Mary of Scots' husband number one). Which, props to him, is a hell of a twisted reverse way of marrying an old billionaire to inherit all their money, (possible power ploy to inherit her kingdom, anyone?) (I'm kidding). (This is possibly why he was taken out by Devin too, if I'm being honest.)

OR:

Title NOT granted by parliament, informal title: He was made King consort without Crown Matrimonial, leaving his wife in absolute power while he sits pretty while he's in Gardania. (like Henry Stuart, Mary of Scots' husband number two, who was also not really a king, because his ass got merked before Elizabeth I died).

But IF Reginald had been the king of his own country, due to canon only stating Sophia-Blair's rule being solely Gardania (if it was what happened to the Spaniards, they would have fucking at least MENTIONED it), his rule MUST have been passed on to another branch of the family, diverting the line of succession from her, and preventing her from inheriting whatever throne her father sits on too.

THIS TIES ON TO HOW DELANCY COULD STILL POSSIBLY NEVER RULE IF SHE HAD BEEN RELATED TO REGINALD (yes I am bringing this back because this is what the dissertation was written for): She would be the claimant to the throne of ANOTHER kingdom, not Gardania, as she will only be related to the husband of a queen, since being king jure uxoris does not qualify your closest living relative as a claimant to your wife's throne.

sigh i can't believe my first ever post of 2024 is a dissertation on the line of succession of a fictional barbie kingdom...

I am currently kinda drunk and I've thought of this for a long while now because I've been scrolling through PCS tiktok and everyone keeps insisting that Delancy Devin is Blair's cousin through Reginald

Anyways Delancy is related to Blair/Sophia through Isabella and I can PROVE IT give me like five minutes to sober up

1.) How would you even explain their resemblance?

Like look at them: they have a pretty clear resemblance to each other, which is why it's pretty fucking crazy because Blair looks exactly like Isabella¹︎. And while Delancy may have her resemblance to her mother, ironically, Devin is not related to the royal family by blood.

Which could only lead to one explanation: Delancy's father is Isabella's brother. (Isabella's side has strong ass fucking genes, I'm pretty sure that brother looked almost identical to her too)

I mean look at poor old reggie, his daughter bears absolutely no fucking resemblance to him at all. If Delancy's dad had been his brother instead, then why is there a very clear resemblance between Delancy and Sophia-Blair? (Like their overall profiles are so goddamn similar, I'm actually gagged that nobody had clocked it before, or even at least pointed it out.)

(Look me in the eye and tell me there was not a single incident where Hadley had tried to scare the shit out of Delancy in the semi-darkened shower rooms at like 8 pm only to find that it was actually Blair, or even Portia tripping out of her mind at 3 am in some dark hallway thinking she was talking to Delancy in the dark when it was actually Blair taking her back to her dorm)

2.) If Reginald was "King"²︎, then why the fuck was Isabella coronated as the true heir of Gardania during graduation?

This actually means she went to Charm School AS the princess representing Gardania, because how the fuck else could she be coronated AS PRINCESS of Gardania if she wasn't?

If some Blair Coronation Shit happened to Isabella too when she was crowned, that would be BIG TALK amongst the courts, the nobles, and ALL THE PRINCESSES PRESENT DURING THE CORONATION.

Keep in mind that Princess Charm School's Graduation Ceremony is a MAJOR diplomatic event that literally has all those countries' leaders in ONE ROOM. Given that Blair's two other besties are princesses whose fathers or mothers might have been possibly present during the graduation ceremony/coronation of Gardania, wouldn't they have at least fucking mentioned it to her? I mean they literally gave her the entire tea on the car crash why the hell wouldn't they tell her if they knew anything juicier? Such as a PCS student being coincidentally the true heir of Gardania when the magic tiara somehow hit her head and lit up³︎?

(I'm aware that it's possibly a Princess Diana allegory given the Spencers' lineage but STILL, kinda fucking embarrassing being next in line to the throne and finding out your fiancée is actually the true heir of your kingdom??? I would actually never show my face before society ever again tbh.)

According to Dame Devin's accidental tell-all slip⁴︎, it is implied that Isabella was in fact, Queen Regnant, and not Reginald. (Because, why would you specifically admit to eliminating Isabella and NOT Reginald? Let's be honest, bro was just a bonus kill.)

This means that Reginald is simply a consort, and we can assume, that Gardania's succession line is matriarchal, and that Queen is actually a higher position than King, which is the reason why Isabella probably got the throne first and not her possible brother, who is most definitely Delancy's father.

This renders Dame Devin's (admittedly successful) coup absolutely fucking useless, unless of course she killed several other clans with a claim to the throne until she got to Reginald's family, (assuming he was a part of Gardanian nobility) which is highly unlikely considering she would've been caught earlier ??? Cos girl that's literally regicide and treason.

But if Delancy is related to Blair via Isabella herself, then she would have a legitimate claim to the throne, and she has the chance to ascend if Isabella and all her heirs somehow die in a freak accident (which, oh no, is exactly what fucking happened).

okay so here’s the deal. ofc i care. every artist who shares their work, every creator, cares; at least to a degree. it’s why we share. we want people to see and love and appreciate our work, we want it recognised and celebrated even. we want people to engage with it, show it to their friends, talk abt it, have thoughts abt it. it’s only natural and ofc i’m absolutely no exception

with that said. i’ve always tried to remind myself that kudos/likes are also engagement. that even just reading is engagement. that everyone’s limit or ability for engagement isn’t the same, and that ultimately it’s their choice how or if they’ll engage with my writing. i try to, and i do, value everyone who even just reads my stories. i share something with the world for free and it’s my choice to do and continue to do so. what happens after that isn’t up to me

Where are you typing right now and where do you usually type? i like to type in my living room where the bay windows are! just as much natural light as possible and somewhere i can look outside whenever the sky looks pretty and the shadows get looong in the evenings. when i was living in the city, i loved typing from my apartment balcony. just something about being outside on summer evenings and having the white noise from being so high up + pedestrian and road traffic below gets my writing muse going.

so lemme just start by saying fuck 2020 

now that we’re on the same page, lets get into it

so i dont have to explain all the reasons why this year sucked bc u just need to google 2020 and there will be a million reasons why it was TOTAL FUCKING GARBAGE...... usually when so many people collectively say a year sucked ass, i can be like “oh it wasnt *all* bad for me, personally” haha not this year!!! 

its super fucking depressing to look at how hopeful and positive i was about 2020 a year ago..... ofc there was no way for me to have known it would all go to shit but i still really appreciate the tone i had set... reading over the previous reflections and seeing how harsh and negative i was @ myself made the softness of last years post super refreshing.... 

now i said i dont *have* to explain all the ways 2020 was shitty, but i am gonna explain the biggest reason this year was shitty for me, personally..... it might seem really small in comparison to the ways 2020 was shitty as a whole on like a global scale? but really the biggest reason 2020 sucked ass was i didnt get to really hang out with any of my friends in real life for 9 out of the 12 months of the year.... and really it was like the first week of march that shit hit the fan so like really it was only 2 months that we got to see each other....... if u rmbr p much every previous retrospective post ive made, there was a big emphasis on friends..... ive come to realize that im actually a very *extra*verted person??? despite my overall shyness and homebody attitude, i would always choose to hang out with people over being alone so stay-at-home orders FUCKING SUCKED??? when we all thought it would be over in a couple weeks, maybe a month it was fine?? hey its a good time to draw or catch up on that reading and/or writing i said i was gonna do maybe even start learning to drive?? it’ll be no big deal THEN it wasn’t over in a month and it wasnt gonna BE over anytime soon and no one important was doing anything about it and its an election year and black lives have always mattered and yet everything is so uncertain and

in 2018, i had said that i watched vox’s video on the year in 5 mins and cried... if i watched this year in five minutes, i dont think i would be able to breathe...... 

SO instead of making myself CRY..... lets try to think about any GOOD things that happened and think about what we can do to make 2021 good for ourselves:

GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPENED:

-i *didn’t* lose my job!! sad that so many others cannot say the same but im trying to make myself feel *better* not WORSE so i got to keep my job and i actually work more hours than before so!!

-i actually *did* learn to drive this year!!!! and im pretty good at it??? for someone that just started this year anyway?? i probably *would* have my DRIVER’S LICENSE right now if it weren’t for a surge in cases in a certain STATE that i happen to live in......... but w/e its fine i get more time to practice and im ~~**DEFINITELY**~~ going pass my test and get my license ~whenever it is that i can reschedule my dmv appt~

lmfao its so funny that last year, i was absolutely *dreading* learning to drive but i so fucking get why everyone was like ‘you need to learn how to drive’ i legit love it so much???? ive always been a car person but that was like purely for the aesthetic but now that i can drive im just....... WOOOW this really is what freedom feels like.... like ik that public transportation is amazing and i will always champion it but nothing beats being purely in control of your destination.... i also wanted to buy myself a car for my birthday even tho i couldnt really drive yet but then sien had to fix smthg on her car and it was EXPENSIVE AF and my mom was like “u dont need to buy a car yet” so i put the brakes [haha] on that... but soon... once i get my license,,, then i will have u my love................. so with that being “my most serious goal of 2020″ im glad i did it

-i was one of lucky ones and got unemployment when i couldn’t work so i have a lot of money saved in the bank??? pls no one steal my identity i wanna use that money to buy myself a car and/or for when we move out 🤞🤞 we’ll just have to wait and seeeeee....................

-i had mentioned playing dnd last year too and thats been going STRONG as hell thank goodness....... we couldnt keep playing in person but when we moved it to online, not only did we actually get to hang out a lot more, we made more friends??? introduced new people to the group?? its so good and in fact probably the only thing that kept me even a little bit sane this year...... 

-this is more of an honorable mention than an accomplishment but im this 🤏close to catching up with critical role and thats partially thanks to the pandemic lmao sooooo ??? 

aaaaaaand thats p much it lol i didnt really accomplish any of my other goals bc reasons................. but!!! as cliche as it sounds, with a light at the end of the tunnel, im confident that i can turn that all around this year.... so if 2016 was the year of change, 2017 was the year of getting used to shit, 2018 was the year of getting *too* used to shit and 2019 ended up being the year of friends, 2020 was the year of absolute shit and it doesn’t fucking count....... i learned a lot this year, biggest lesson of all is that life is short and if i were to have died at any point last year, what the fuck would i have to show for it??? so usually i end up giving a theme or name to a year after its done but this time im determined to make 2021 into what i want it to be SO i am declaring this year, the year of our lord 2021, the year of new experiences!!!! what the fuck does that mean you ask? well ill tell you!!! im gonna try new things this year!! make a very pointed effort to do things outside my comfort zone?? and for my goals this year, im going back to my old way of making a huge list of stuff u wanna do and seeing how much i can actuallly accomplish!! now i said theres a light but we really dont know when all this shit will end and life will go “bAcK tO nOrMaL” so whos to say ill get to accomplish any of it? at the same time, there are plenty of stuff on the list that i can do within the pandemic set parameters so!! lets see this list!!

☑️ listen to new music!! this years spotify wrapped was garbo it only had like 3 albums and a bunch of other shit i always listen to so i gotta fix that lmfao

☑️ write new stories!! i am comforted by the shit ive been writing for the past like 7 years but if my screenplay class taught me anything its that there are a lot of stories to tell and i got so many ideas floating around in this noggin!! instead of an arbitrary word count, why dont i say write idk 3 new stories, start to finish, in whatever medium idc screenplay, short story, comic, twine WHATEVER!! do it!

Alex, 28, information systems supervisor. Says the most outrageous thing he’s ever done is eat a live salamander (um?) and lists the rock as his favorite artist (um????). Also says the most romantic present he’s ever given is a car which was probably very awkward when the relationship ended.

Anthony, 26, education software manager. Describes emotional intelligence as one of his best attributes so if things don’t work out with Rachel he’d be a great match for Taylor from Nick’s season. Also says that he has “virtually no limits in the bedroom once the connection is there” and honestly its just weird that they asked some of them that question (like I’d answer that question for the entire internet to read)

Blake E., 31, “Aspiring Drummer” says that the most outrageous thing hes ever done is get engaged to a “crazy girl” then calls himself a “classic gentleman” two questions later. Also wants to watch the new 50 Shades movie because he loves “taboo sexy stuff”. Was engaged for 48 hours which is probably about 24 hours more than he’ll last on the bachelorette. Hates when his date talks about her cats, so Taylor Swift is basically his worst nightmare. Also doesn’t think parking ticket people have souls, which is honestly the most redeeming answer of the bunch.

Blake K, 29, U.S, Marine Veteran. Would want to be the Rock for a day because “he’s the only person who could look cool wearing a fanny pack”. Says that roses are his favorite flower, which I’m 99% sure is a prerequisite to getting on the show. Says he won’t wrestle a crocodile or eat monkey brains for love, and mostly seems too normal for this show.

Brady, 29, Male Model. Says that tackling snowmen is something he does for fun in his hometown (um? fingers crossed he makes it to hometowns so we can see how exactly that works) and says Lululemon sweatpants are the most romantic gifts he’s ever received, which is slightly (okay a lot) more normal than threesome. Says the the Situation from Jersey Shore is the person he dislikes the most in the world, making me think about that show for the first time in at least three years. (Also, does he remined me a little bit of Robby from Jojo’s season appearance-wise?)

Bryce, 37, Chiropractor. Kind of looks like Chase from Jojo’s season (to me at least). Lists like seven things when asked for his three best attributes, so apparently has some trouble with numbers. Also says the Bachelor/Bachelorette is one of his favorite TV shows because he’s “fascinated by the interaction socially between a man and a woman” (please no one watches this show for the love story, you watch for the drama and you know it) has also had balcony sex? (idk what to do with that information)

Bryce, 30, firefighter. All of his answers are oddly poetic? Describes himself as a “laid back shot of gasoline when the fire starts to die”. Looking for someone with “eyes you could drown in and a smile that insults the sun”. Says he’s “a fresh drink of water with a jolt of lightning”. I’d put money on him reading Rachel some 9th grade English poem the first night. Describes his dream job as a professional Instagrammer which he’s definitely in the right place for with all the Fittea and teeth whitening stuff everyone who goes on this show seems to sell.

Dean, 26, startup recruiter. Has a lip tattoo? (It says righteous, I know you were dying to know. Thinks marriage is an “institutionalized sham derived from religious beliefs” so he’ll fit in perfectly on a show where the end goal is getting engaged!

DeMario, 30, executive recruiter. Scores points for referencing Britney Spears not once but twice, saying he loves attention but not like 2007 Britney, like when she and Justin Timberlake wore those denim outfits. Wants to have a pet lion and name it “Denzel the lion”, Doesn’t have any phobias, which I’m sure made the produces frown and cross his name off potential candidates for those dates they always have where they skydive or something and they’re both really freaked out and have to comfort each other. Earns more points by saying that the most romantic gift he’s ever given is tickets to a Beyonce and Jay-Z concert.

Diggy, 31, senior inventory analyst. Spends Saturday nights trying to recover from day drinking (he and Corinne would get along great if Rachel doesn’t pick him!) Once pretended to be asleep so he didn’t have to help a girl find her brother after a one night stand.

Eric, 29, personal trainer. Rachel seems like she was digging him on the ATFR when she men some of her guys. If he could be anyone for a day, he’d be Tony Robbins, which is a name I had to Google and according to Wikipedia he is a    “MLM advocate, businessman, and author”. Says green juice is his favorite drink, so I’m sure he’ll be fine in the bachelor house where it seems like all they have to drink is champagne. Not to go all avril-lavigne-is-dead-and-was-replaced-by-a-clone conspiracy theorist but if he could go anywhere in the U.S. it would be New Orleans, which is where Rachel had her one-on-one with Nick.

Fred, 27, Executive Assistant. Admits to the entire Internet that he sometimes gets aroused at work. This isn’t in his bio but in the preview for the season it says that he and Rachel went to elementary school together and he has apparently had a “lifelong fascination” with her ever since which is a lil weird to me. Like I doubt I could pick someone I went to elementary school with out of a lineup much less recognize them on TV nearly 20 years later.

Grant, 29, emergency medicine physician (!). Would like to be President of the United States for a day, which would honestly probably be better than Donald Trump (I mean, they have about the same amount of experience). Lists Playboy as his favorite magazine with a ;) face. Makes a lame “A see food diet. I see food I eat it” when asked about eating habits, so I’m expecting him to open with an equally lame joke when he meets Rachel.

Iggy, 30, Consulting Firm CEO. Idk if ABC made a typo or what, but if not he lists his best and worst attributes as the same traits (Truly a double edged sword). If stranded on a dessert island he would want it to be a banana float (haha) (Also thats a really stupid question anyway-ABC if you need someone else to write these I’m available)

Jack Stone, 32, Attorney (!). First, why is his whole name on the website? Usually its just their last initial, and that’s only if there’s two people with the same name. Which isn’t the case here so @ ABC wyd. Is an attorney like Rachel, and has been the only one so far smart enough to plead the fifth on the bedroom question. Two of his worst attributes are “hard on myself, anxious” which is very #relatable. Says tulips are his favorite flower because they’re like roses without thorns.

Jamey, 32, Sales Account Executive. Answers the question “where do you see yourself in five years” with “I am trying not to make plans right now” which is also very #relatable. I should bust that one out at my next job interview. Says his ideal mate looks like a model (we all wish) and responds “I do not have any female friends” to “describe your best friend of the opposite sex and why she/she deserves that title”.

Jedidiah, 35, ER Physician (!). Previously owned dogs that were over 1/2 wolf, which is slightly terrifying. Likes wild flowers that grow above high altitudes. Has had sex on a glacier which just sounds like a bad idea, frostbite and all that. Likes nice pens (don’t we all), clashing slightly with his outdoorsy image.

Jonathan, 31, “Tickle Monster”. Anyone identifying themselves as a tickle monster would be cut immediately if I were Rachel. They wouldn’t even make it inside the mansion. I hate being tickled. Formerly sported a mullet. Says his favorite flower right now is a red rose (*rolls eyes*). Previously married, which the producers are probably going to bring up at every given opportunity. Lists Britney Spears as one of his favorite music artists, which still doesn’t even begin to make up for the tickling thing.

Josiah, 28, Prosecuting Attorney (!). Has had sex in his office, so hopefully he didn’t tell his employer he was going on the show, and if he did, hopefully they don’t find this. Was once catfished, so perhaps he’s on the wrong show anyway. Perhaps Nev and Max can participate in a group date giving tips on how not to get catfished.

Kenny, 35, professional wrestler. Spends his Saturday nights either “wrestling in his underwear in front of thousands of people or with his daughter”. Has a daughter, which the producers will also probably bring up at every given opportunity because exploiting children is always fun! Says he was “quick draw Mcgraw” when he first started dating his ex. Has had sex with a wife while her husband watched, which sounds like more Unreal than Bachelorette territory tbh.

Kyle, 26, marketing consultant. Generally doesn’t trust people and dislikes corrupt authority, and respects Ed Snowden. Probably has a Bernie 2016 sticker on his car. doesn’t know what gluten is but eats gluten free when he can. Describes his ideal mate as 7+ and says BDSM was weird because he doesn’t like hurting people.

Lee, 30, Singer/Songwriter. Would want to learn to make booze if stranded on a deserted island.  Considers himself a romantic. Also seems too normal for this show (aside from the career) and will probably be gone the first night.

Lucas, 30, “Whaboom” I googled it and couldn’t find an answer as to what “Whaboom” even means so we’re off to a great start. When asked who he would have lunch with out of everyone in the world, replies “ Dead: Bruce Jenner, Alive: Caitlyn Jenner” *cringes* would want the cast of the View with him on a deserted island which is pretty smart actually because they’d probably wind up killing each other and he could establish himself as the apex predator. Enjoys a “good old bump and grind” when it comes to dancing. Lists going to funeral as one of his least favorite date activities, which makes me question his dating history history. I feel like he’ll be the villain.

Matt, 32, Construction Sales Rep. Describes lingerie as the most romantic gift he’s ever given saying  “I knew I was in love once I found myself shopping at Victoria Secret” #justlikethenotebook. Describes a tinder date as his worst dating memory. Has had sex on a cruise ship balcony. Despite that is probably still too normal for the show and will probably be eliminated quickly.

Michael, 26, Former professional basketball player, which is less impressive when you keep reading and find out it was in Bulgaria. Would want to have lunch with Obama. One of his worst date fears is one of his friends hooking up with his date in the past which should make fantasy suites fun should he make it that far. Also like the fifth guy to name Denzel Washington as his favorite actor.

Milton, 31, Hotel recreation supervisor. Has a lip tattoo. Is oddly upfront about not being on the show for the “right reasons”. He says he wants to be discovered and break into acting or writing.  (At least try to lie and say you’re here for love my guy). Describes himself as only “kinda” romantic because he thinks it can show you’re weak.

Mohit, 26, Product manager. Says he is going to dress up as gluten for Halloween. Good luck with that. Likes country music. Has used Tabasco sauce in the bedroom which just sounds like a bad idea (honestly what do yall get up to where you need condiments). Is like the third person to say he admires Elon Musk.

Peter, 31, business owner. Once thought he got abducted after a one night stand. Likes modern family. Seems normal. Also cute. I’ve been trying to dodge spoilers but a few have slipped through the cracks and I must say...

Rob, 30, law student. Would want to have lunch with Buddha. Would want to be able to control time. Also seems normal. Will probably be eliminated quickly.

Will, 28, Sales Manager. Considers himself a romantic. Describes every tinder date he’s ever been on as his worst dating experience. Hates being a second choice, so hopefully he doesn’t wind up like Nick as runner up twice.

So overall it seems like there’s a lot more diversity this season, which is great to see! its also cool that that most of the men are closer to Rachel’s age compared to last season when some of the girls were literally 10 years younger than nick. And since i haven’t read spoilers, i guess i’ll pick a few faves based on bios alone: Peter, Eric, DeMario, Jack stone thats probably way off im bad at stuff like that
