Sleepover At Quinlan's
Summary:
Quin was just about to drift off to sleep when he heard the tell-tale swish of his bedroom door sliding open. He barely managed to suppress his sigh as he listened for the now familiar sound of small feet crossing across the stone floor towards his bed. The footsteps paused, then there was a small intake of breath.
Quin sighed, waiting.
Another few footsteps, and then the person was close enough that Quin could hear her breathing. He didn't turn over or acknowledge her presence in any way, hoping that if she thought he was asleep she might not wake him.
A small finger poked the centre of his back and he sighed. No such luck.
âQuin?â a voice whispered loudly.
Notes:
I adore this lineages dynamic. I will make you all adore it too. Violently.
Thanks to @penguinkiwi for introducing me to the wonderful yet obscure ship of Cin Drallig/Tholme. Cin Drallig/Tholme/T'ra Saa is canon for the Terrible Jedi 'verse, but this fic predates it.
It honestly doesn't come into the fic very much it's just a point of interest. This is all about a Dad to be, his Dad, and their favourite ungovernable child.
Read on AO3 or below the cut!
Quin opened his eyes to stare at the wall.
These disturbances were coming later and later each night. He had hoped that this night might be the first in almost a month where he slept undisturbed.
Sadly though, it appeared not to be.
No such luck.
âQuin?â a voice whispered loudly.
âAayla," he replied, pouring as much long-suffering exhaustion into his voice as he could possibly manage. As usual, it went completely over her head.
âAre you awake?â she asked.
âI am now,â he said.
Aayla jumped onto the bed and began to clamber over his back, clutching her stuffie. She never bothered to ask for permission anymore, simply fit herself between Quinlan and the wall. Just like she had every single night since they brought her to the Temple, over three weeks ago now.
âYou have your own bed, Aayla,â Quinlan reminded her gently. âYour own bedroom too.â
He propped himself up on his elbow so he could look down at her tiny frame, lying on her back with her stuffed spark dragon in her mouth, blinking up at him with innocent golden eyes. He could feel his resolve weakening.
Quinlanâs stuffed spark dragon, technically. Sparky, because he hadn't been a particularly imaginative child. Not that he thought he was ever going to get Sparky back, it seemed. She carried the stuffed toy everywhere she went.
The creche masters had allowed it at first, to ease her transition to the Temple they said, but now they were saying she was too attached. Quin didnât see the harm, she was only a stuffed toy anyway, and he was still plenty attached to her.
His mom had made Sparky especially for him, after all. It was common to give psychometric children handmade gifts on Kiffu. Every time he held her, even now, he could feel his mom's love in the stitches and the slightly worn fabric. His fatherâs hands, picking out the eyes and passing them to his mother to sew into Sparkyâs face. Sparky had helped Quinlan through some of the hardest times in his life, feeling that love, those memories.Â
He knew Aayla wasn't psychometric, but he explained to her that Sparky was full of his mom's love and protection, and that Sparky would keep her safe too. She'd smiled up at him through her tears, and then he and Tholme had left her with the crèche masters. Later that same night, Aayla had appeared in his bedroom and had climbed into his bed like she belonged there. He had no idea how she even knew where their quarters were, let alone how she got in the front door.
âAayla,â Quin said softly, âyou canât sleep in here forever.â
âWhy?â she whined, Sparkyâs ear chewed to pieces.
âWellâŚâ he racked his brains, trying to think of an answer that a toddler would understand. âYouâre gonna grow up and then we both wonât fit anymore. You gotta get used to sleeping in your own bed.â
Aayla considered this, her tiny face wrinkled up as she thought. Eventually, she nodded, satisfied by his logic.
"Last night Quin, promise!"
He sighed.
"You said that the last three nights in a row, blueberry," he reminded her gently. He poked her nose.
Aayla gazed up at him, her big eyes shining with tears and her bottom lip beginning to wobble. She was too damn small and cute for her own good. Quin closed his eyes and resigned himself to spending another night with wriggling lekku and pointy elbows jabbing him randomly.
"Fine," he sighed.
Aayla trilled happily and wriggled down into what had become 'her' spot in his bed.
"Thanks Quin," she said, kissing his cheek clumsily before settling down. Sparky went back into her mouth and her eyes closed.
âBut this is the last night,â he said. She didnât hear it, she was already asleep.
Quin studied her tiny unconscious face, frowning.Â
No one that little should have bags under their eyes. She really was struggling to sleep in the creche, when every night she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. His pillow.
She smacked her lips and nestled into the mattress, her lekku twitching. Quin frowned, thinking.
When he was her age, only two and a half, he was still living with his parents on Kiffu. After they died, Tholme had brought him to the Temple where heâd lived ever since. Quinlan had never slept in the crèche or the initiate bunk rooms though. Because of his 'special circumstances' he'd been allowed to move straight into Tholme's quarters as his padawan.
His special circumstances being screaming nightmares, massive anxiety, and refusing to be away from Tholme for longer than it took him to use the fresher.
Quin had moved right into this room here, actually. This bed, these sheets. Maybe not these exact sheets, but similar enough. That chest of drawers and that little bookshelf, empty then but both full now of books and projects and all manner of stuff.
The only things he'd had from his previous life as the son of Quian and Pethros Vos were his memories and his clan tattoos. Well, those and Sparky. Aayla had nothing from her life before. That maybe wasnât the worst thing, sheâd been living as a slave, but it was still the only life sheâd known.
Quin had struggled to adjust to Temple life too, but at least he'd had Tholme. His own space where he could feel safe. Aayla was stuck in a room full of strangers most of the time, and she absolutely hated strangers.
One of her little fists flailed towards his face, and he caught it a moment before one of her tiny fingers jabbed him in the eye. Again.
He wondered about asking Tholme what he should do.
Quin was the reason Aayla was here in the Temple. He's the one who found her and brought her to Tholme. He's the one who persuaded him to bring her for testing. She had passed those tests with flying colours, and while Quinlan still thought it was a much better place for her than a slave dungeon on Ryloth, she still wasn't comfortable in the Temple.
It would be his fault right, if she was miserable? It should be his job to make sure she was okay, right?
He really wanted her to be happy here. Not just because it was his fault if she wasnât, but because he really liked the kid. She was⌠special. He had a bond with her, like the one he shared with Tholme.
He hadnât told Tholme about it yet, but he was pretty sure his Master knew anyway. He tended to know these things without Quinlan telling him, for better or worse.
Aaylaâs tiny blue nose wrinkled in her sleep as he stared down at her.
This little girl was his responsibility, Quin thought to himself. That's what the bond meant, right? He had to make sure she was okay, that she was safe and happy. She was safe, sure. Aayla didn't know that though, and that was making her unhappy. He didn't know how to make her understand that she was okay now, she was too young.
Tholme would know what to do. He was the one who had helped Quinlan adjust when he was little. Not as little as Aayla, but still heâd have a better idea than Quin.
On the other hand, Quin really didn't want to get Aayla in trouble for sneaking out of the crèche every night. He was pretty sure she wasnât supposed to be doing that, and when someone found out she would have to do⌠whatever it is they made two-year-olds do when they were naughty around here.Â
His parents used to put him in time out and then talk to him about what he did wrong. Quin was pretty sure that would just lead to more of an argument though. Aayla could be⌠stubborn.
Heâd tried to take her back to the creche once, and sheâd threatened to scream and get them both into trouble. It had been pretty funny, after the fact. She was a very determined menace, and quite young to have grasped the concept of mutually assured destruction.
Quin yawned and snuggled back down to sleep. He could worry about all that tomorrow. A day of advanced saber lessons with Master Drallig and a group of padawans older and bigger than him had left him with muscle ache in muscles he never even knew he had. Cin had given him a secret little smile before he left the training halls though, so the pain was well with it.Â
As soon he was settled Aayla snuggled towards him like a heat seeking missile.
He had to admit, one upside to having her sleep in his room was having her warm little body squished against his. She was a very effective hot-water bottle. The Temple, with all its thick stone walls and cavernous interior spaces, could be pretty cold at night. Both Kiffu and Ryloth were hot and dry no matter where you went, and Quinlan had never quite gotten used to the chill.Â
That was probably another reason why Aayla couldn't sleep, because of the cold. Twi-leks had a higher internal temperature than humans too, according to his biology classes, so she was probably feeling it even worse than he did. At least when they were together, they could both be warm.
Maybe, having her wake him up every night wasn't so bad. If it meant she could sleep, and he wasn't so cold for once. It was even, just maybe, quite nice.
Then she rolled over in her sleep and kicked him hard in the crotch, and he changed his mind again.Â
///
The next time Quinlan woke up, it was once more to the sound of bare footsteps on stone floors. This time however, it was Aayla getting out of his bed, not into it.
She always left before he woke up. Probably to get back to the crèche before anyone noticed she was missing. Usually she managed to do it without waking him. He was quite a heavy sleeper, and she always managed to climb back over him without him ever noticing.
Not this time though.Â
He listened, still half asleep, as her feet moved across the floor. He smiled to himself drowsily as she tried to open the door as quietly as possible. She couldn't quite hide her strained little gasp as she reached up to tap the access pad. He kept listening as the door slid closed and her footsteps grew quieter.
Quinlan's eyes slipped closed, and he snuggled down into the covers, letting Aayla's lingering warmth in the sheets lull him back into sleep. It was the weekend, and so today he could lie in for as long as he wanted. Usually, he slept all the way through til midmeal.
"Ah, good morning Aayla."
Quin's eyes snapped back open.
"Good morning Master Tholme."
The book on his bedside table went flying as he scrambled out of bed.
Oh he was dead, he was so dead.
Master Tholme was going to have him cleaning the training salles for hours. Weeks. Months. Potentially years.
"Will you be joining me for breakfast again this morning?"
He was going to-Â
Wait.
He stopped with a hand resting on his door pad, utterly confused.
Again?
"Yes please. Can we have flatcakes?" Aayla chirped.
"I don't see why not. Wash your hands first, and I'll let you stir the batter."
He listened to Aaylaâs feet scampering across the floor, then came to several conclusions quite rapidly. Quinlan opened the door to the main living area, scowling.
"Flatcakes?" he demanded. âFlatcakes are my favourite!â
"Ah, padawan!" Tholme said as he pulled down the frying pan and set it next to a mixing bowl on the counter. "You're awake earlier than usual this fine morning."
"You're always so sleepy," Aayla said, skipping out of the fresher cheerfully. "Kit says it's because you're a stinky teenager."
"Aayla," Tholme chided, pulling ingredients out of the cupboards like everything was perfectly normal. âDonât call Quinlan stinky. Itâs unkind, even if it is true.â
âHey!â
"Kit called him stinky first!"Â
"Master Fisto says a lot of things. You shouldn't repeat all of them."
Aayla hummed thoughtfully, sitting at the table with her lekku swinging merrily behind her. Tholme placed the bowl of ingredients before her, along with a wooden spoon, before returning to the kitchen. Aayla stood up on the chair and began to stir, using one hand to grip the spoon while she held the bowl carefully with another.
Clearly, they'd done this many times before.Â
Just how many breakfasts had Quinlan missed?
âWell, you said it was true, so why canât I say true things?â Aayla asked, head cocked to one side and frowning. She continued to stir the batter with intense concentration.
âMy padawan is in the throes of something we call puberty,â Tholme explained, and Quinlan choked, cheeks heating with embarrassment. âHis stinkiness, whilst unfortunate, is not his fault, nor is there anything he can do to change it. Therefore it would be quite unfair of us to tease him for it.â
Aayla nodded, apparently satisfied with Tholmeâs answer. Quin debated pointing out that heâd had quite a long shower after his training session yesterday, and currently smelt quite good, but decided that if he started that argument it was probably one he was destined to lose.Â
An important part of being a Jedi was learning when it was the right time to let things go. This was one of these times, he reckoned.
Instead of defending himself, he looked at Tholme, searching for answers. His Master was moving around the kitchenette, heating oil in the pan while he continued to pull things out of the cupboard. He turned to look at Quinlan, smirking slightly.
"Problem, Padawan?" he asked, holding a stack of three plates.
Quinlan stared at him.
"No, Master," he said, sighing.
Another one of those âlearn to let goâ times, he supposed.
"Good," Tholme said. He held out the plates. "Take these to the table please."
"Yes, Master."
"And give Aayla a hand, would you?" Tholme called after him. âShe can be quite⌠enthusiastic.â
âYes, Master,â Quin replied, rolling his eyes as he turned towards the table.
âQuinlan?â Tholme called.
âYes Master?â
âThrough the Force-â
â-You see all,â Quinlan finished, smiling despite himself. âSorry, Master.â
Tholme hummed, and Quin knew he wasnât really cross.
Plates set out, he stood behind Aayla and set his hand on top of her lekku. She giggled and pressed up into his hand as he ruffled them, smiling to himself. He watched her stir the flat cake mix until her arms got too tired, then took over. Once it was nice and smooth he passed it to Master Tholme, who began to churn out flatcakes with practised ease.
It always made Quin laugh, whenever Qui-Gon lectured Obi-Wan about frivolous use of the Force. Master Tholme used it to flip the perfect flatcakes, make tea, summon things to him when he was sitting on the sofa, and he couldn't be bothered to get up in the evenings. He let Quinlan try it too, flipping flatcakes that is, though he wasn't as good.
The first had ended up on the ceiling, the second on the wall, and the third in Tholmeâs hair. Tholme had laughed loudly, a very rare thing to happen, and clapped Quin on the shoulder.Â
âFine control takes time and practise, Padawan,â heâd said. âThough perhaps next we will practise in a way that creates less mess, hm?â
Quin grabbed the seaberry syrup, smiling. It was a Nautolan delicacy that Kit had introduced him to when he was small and Kit was still a senior padawan, then grabbed the sugar and fruit that Tholme had chopped and took it all to the table. Kit was the first person he had decided he liked aside from Tholme when he reached the Temple, him and Cin anyway.
Kit had been Quinâs babysitter, when Cin and Tholme wanted some time alone together. Not that Quinlan had known thatâs what was going on at the time, as far as he was concerned heâd been abandoned with a giant green stranger. Then the giant green stranger had made him flatcakes for dinner, and he hadnât minded so much
Quin sat in his usual spot, Aayla in the chair beside him. She grinned up at him, her feet swinging beneath her seat. Master Tholme brought the flatcakes, a glass of water for Aayla and two mugs of kaf for himself and Quinlan.Â
He sat down opposite Quin and gestured for them both to dig in with a smile.Â
Quinlan took a stack of the flatcakes and was about to reach for the seaberry syrup when a small blue hand got to it before him. He stared as Aayla poured a truly ungodly amount of the stuff all over her own stack of flatcakes, only slightly smaller than his own.
"That's enough, Aayla," Master Tholme said, not even looking up from where he was piling his own plate with fruit and berries.
Aayla hummed and passed the bottle of bright pink syrup back to Quinlan, then dug into her plate of food with slightly off-putting enthusiasm. Quin watched her thoughtfully as he drizzled his breakfast with syrup, and then added some fruit.
He glanced up at his Master, chewing his lip.
"Master Tholme?"
"Yes, Padawan Vos?" Tholme said, lifting a mouthful of flatcakes and berries to his face.
"Iâve been thinking," Quinlan said, drumming his fingers on the table. "Aayla is kinda like me, right? She's going to need someone who understands her, to be her Master."
Tholme leaned back in his chair. He folded his arms across his chest and looked at Quinlan, considering.
"I agree," he said, the shadow of a smile flickering over his lips.
"So⌠I won't be your padawan in ten years. I'll be a knight, right?" Quinlan continued.
"Indeed," Tholme said, still watching Quin. âSooner, if you continue to progress in such a way.â
Quin felt his cheeks heat at the compliment. He swallowed and kept going.
"You could take her," he said. "As your padawan, I mean."
Tholme stared at him, before his face cracked into a real smile.
"I could, could I?" he said, amused for some reason.
"Yeah!" Quin said, growing in confidence. "I mean, you've been a really good Master to me, and if Aayla's like me, then you'll be a good Master to her, right?"
Tholme studied Quinlan, his lips twitching.
"I suppose I cannot fault your logic," he said eventually.Â
"So you'll do it?"
"I'll consider it," Tholme said, pulling his kaf towards himself and taking a sip.
âBut-â
âItâs still a long way in the future, Padawan,â Tholme interrupted gently. âDo not concern yourself with all that, just yet. Aayla has quite a way to go before she will be ready for an apprenticeship.â
Quinlan sighed and stuffed a fork full of flatcakes covered in syrup into his mouth. That was true. Probably best to get her sleeping in her own bed before he started worrying about who her Master was going to be.
"Besides," Tholme continued. "She's a very bright young thing. I'm sure I'll have plenty of competition, whenever that time will be."
Quin hummed, not convinced, and took another bite of his breakfast. People had written him off after what happened to him, said he wouldn't be able to help but go Dark because of it. He looked over at Aayla, her face smeared with bright pink seaberry syrup and humming happily as she shoved food into her face.
How could anyone think she would go Dark? He didnât understand it. No one that cute could possibly be evil.
Suddenly he realised something else and turned back to Tholme.Â
"I can't believe I've been trying to figure out how she keeps getting in at night, and you've just been letting her in," Quinlan complained, resting his chin on his hand and poking his flatcakes sulkily. âI didnât even know you knew.â
Tholme stopped in the middle of drinking his kaf, blinking. He rested his mug back on the table, frowning faintly.
"I was under the impression that you were the one who had been letting her in each night," he said slowly, staring at Quin.
Together, they turned to look at Aayla. She was still happily eating her flatcakes, her little feet kicking under her chair, innocent as can be.
"You're really gonna have your hands full with that one, Master," Quin said, shoving a forkful of sticky sweet sour seaberry syrup, fresh fruit and soft flatcake into his face.
Tholme burst out laughing.
"I'm sure I will padawan, I'm sure I will."Â
///
End Notes:
Yes, Aayla and Tholme have had brunch every weekend since she came to the Temple, and yes Quinlan has slept through every single one of them. They also have breakfast together during the week, but that's just boring cereal. She's a light sleeper, and she usually wakes up when Tholme starts making himself breakfast.
Aayla gets into their quarters by finding a Temple Guard and asking politely to be let inside. Cin found her that first night, and gave instructions to the rest of the Guard to just let her do what she wants. She might not know it yet but that's his newly procured grandkid.

I'm here for the 16-pages essay about Mace and Eeth :)
LMAO well you asked for that yourself hshsjhsjj *cracks knuckles*
Itâs almoust 16 pages long in my google docs, Iâm not kidding, so Iâm gonna make a little intro and then hide the rest under the âkeep readingâ thing (also Iâm going to shorten it a bit, but nothing significant will be left out, I promise)
Uhm so yes three things for the intro:
1. These takes are based mainly on my ship interpretation of the canon things, so yeah if you donât want to see the ship material in them they can be easily disagreed with in terms of how correct I see the intentions of the characters behind their words and actions, but BUT youâre here for macekoth arenât you? So for a macekoth shipper this is a list of totally canon endless happiness and weâll go with that :)
2. LEGENDS CANON IS CANON (in my heart there is no decanonising of the EU, nooo, I pretend disney didnât hurt me qwq)
3. I'm not a native speaker and my english is far from perfect so if you think Iâm talking strange - yes I am, Iâm sorry, but yeah, thatâs how weâre rolling here.
And now - moving on to the essay. I will take random pieces of media one by one and explain why exactly I see Mace/Eeth there.
As I call this, âFantastic MaceKoth hints and interactions, and where to find themâ
Star Wars 13: Emissaries to Malastare, Part 1Â
So, what do we see here? Oooooh, the Concordance of Fealty. In general, the exchange of lightsabers is a very interesting phenomenon in the Jedi Order, and not only because no one remembered it existing before Macekoth decided to engage in one (because there are not known participants in the timeline BEFORE Mace and Eeth, while there are some AFTER) , but also because of its significance. The Concordance of Fealty is said to establish a âmaster-less learning relationshipâ between the two Jedi, i.e., a Force-bond that, if not superior, is equally as close and strong as the bond of a master and a padawan, which is said to be the closest bond possible in the Order.
As you see, this ritual required deep mutual trust from both its participants, and here's why: the exchange. of. the lightsabers. I will repeat it once more and even emphasise: THE EXCHANGE. OF. THE LIGHTSABERS.
As Anakin Skywalker said in âThe Clone Warsâ and Obi-Wan Kenobi said in the âAttack of the Clonesâ, a lightsaber is a Jedi's life, a thing that one should not part with under any circumstances. And what is the Concordance requiring? Exactly this. Giving away your lightsaber. A voluntary action of entrusting your saber, a product of your own hands, a part of yourself, to another sentient. This act of trust can have a very deep meaning, deep subtext to it, if you want it to.
Iâm not saying the Concordance has a romantic subtext to it in general, no - but once again, Iâm insisting that if someone wanted it to have a romantic subtext, he had the full freedom to pull a hecking legal jedi WEDDING under the cover story of this ritual. Why a wedding? Letâs dig a bit more in the comic page above. How it is depicted, such an exchange of the lightsabers looks suspiciously similar to the exchange of the wedding rings between the spouses. So making a guess that probably by engaging in the Concordance Mace and Eeth tried to pull off a legal wedding within the walls of the Temple in this disguised way seems like a fairly logical assumption. In addition, given that this ritual is stated to be very ancient and therefore long-forgotten, it is not surprising that a very bold plan like that in fact worked right in front of Yodaâs salad.
In addition, you should pay attention to the form in which these vows of the Concordance sound. Especially this "until one or both of us becomes One with the Force." line. Very very much like the real wedding vows that spouses say before the altar, huh?))) (For example, Iâll leave this link to the site with some sample wedding vows)
Besides, the fact that Mace had made actual EFFORT to find this Concordance ritual is so priceless by itself. However, here I tend to think that it was master T'ra Saa who suggested to Mace to search for the ritual and its details, and here are the reasons why. Master Saa: 1) was in the age of about a thousand of years by the time of TPM because of being a neti (i.e. realistically could be the only one in the Order left who could have remembered this Concordance of Fealty) 2) had her own experience of a romantic relationship, with master Tholme (i.e. she understood the issue of new feelings born between the two Jedi more than the most) 3) T'ra looked after Mace a lot when he was young, so she was literally his mother figure, and to whom can a poor confused with his romantic feelings jedi master go, if not to his tree mom? :Đ
Shatterpoint (novel) â M. Stover
Here I want to go back to what I said about âthe lightsaber is part of the Jedi.â In Stover's novel, there is an episode where Mace looks at Depa Billaba's saber and speculates about whether she could have given it to Nick Rostu voluntarily.
Mace is mentioning the Concordance of Fealty in this novel too!
The curious thing is that Mace asks âWould she give away part of herself?" So, firstly, by this he is confirming that the Concordance implies exactly this act of mutual trust (what I talked about in the previous part), and secondly, he is hinting that since he did perform this ritual with Eeth Koth, it means that he, Mace Windu, willingly entrusted a part of himself to the hands of the zabrak. (and this is HIS interpretation of what the Concordance means to HIM) Isn't that an act of true love?)
Jedi Council: Acts of War, Part 3
Here is a peculiar moment in the comic - when the two groups of the Jedi join together in the final battle to confront the enemy yinchorri army, both Mace and Eeth separate each other's names from the rest of the group when talking about several fellow Jedi at once. And if Eeth can have a reason for this, because Mace was the leader of this whole mission in the first place, Mace himself still doesnât have any rational reasons to underline exactly Eethâs name (and in the background of the second frame you can see that the first one to run in the battlefield is also not Eeth, which excludes the possibility of identifying Koth as just running the first).
What I want to say by this is that they just subconsciously separate each other's names, because their first thoughts, of course, focus on their dear beloved, and only then they add âand othersâ. Also I want to say that consider that MASTER MACE WINDU, the man of the âless talking, more doingâ standarts, in the middle of the battle actually FOUND some time to stop and ask how his dear Eeth is doing.
Republic 65: Show of Force, Part 1
In this comic there is not an interaction, but a hint, but even if it's not the most obvious and outstanding, it is still worth mentioning.
Mace returns T'ra her lightsaber, which she lost during the previous battle, and a curious dialogue happens between them.
Master Saa says that the saber is just a tool that one shouldnât get attached to. And that Mace SHOULD know that. Personally, I see this here as a direct reference to the Concordance of Fealty (which by the time of this comic has been already completed ten years earlier), and as a confirmation that T'ra Saa knows about the nature of the relationship between master Windu and master Koth.
What I think Maceâs tree mom is saying between the lines here: âyou shouldn't get attached to a lightsaber. You once owned Eeth Kothâs saber, Mace, so you understand that by "lightsaber" I mean Eeth Koth himself. And you remember that attachments are still forbidden in the Jedi Order, so be careful there with your little horned husband, son."
Given that the events of this comic take place during the Clone Wars, this means that there has already happened the battle on the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis, where Eethâs LAAT/i exploded in front of Maceâs eyes. ( This thing blowing up in aotc is the LAAT/i on which were Eeth Koth, Sora Bulq and Tarados Gon )
And perhaps he did spend too much time near the zabrakâs bacta tank afterwards and it gave birth to some rumors or concerns - and that is what T'ra Saa hints at. (also, the timeline of this comic is listed as 21 bby, which does not exclude the possibility of also the battle of Korriban already happened, where Eeth nearly died again, and even the torture of Eeth in Grievousâs hands too, which only gives Mace more reasons to go over his usual reserved boundaries in his wish to comfort and protect his beloved)
Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones
A very interesting thing is in one of the deleted scenes of " Attack of the Clonesâ. And yes, another hint, but wait, some more interaction are coming later. And for now... I'm of course talking about this scene of the conversation between Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi before the latter's departure to Kamino. In this scene, Kenobi expresses his concern that Anakin has a strong attachment to the senator from Naboo, and this attachment may cause some troubles for him when serving his duty as a Jedi and as her guardian. And letâs try to think about the reaction of Windu himself to this statement and how we can interpretate it: 1) He is not surprised by the news on Anakin's attachment, and accepts it very calmly. 2) In this scene, it is actually Windu who calms down panicking Obi-Wan with the words "you must believe that he will make the right choiceâ, and not vice versa.
What can this mean?
This can mean that Mace is not only not at all shocked by Skywalker's forbidden attachment, but on the contrary, supports Anakin and gives him a chance to make the right choice. I mean, Mace doesn't judge Anakin, Mace sympathizes with the young man in love and he trusts him. Itâs a fair assumption that Windu himself most likely has an experience of such a situation, to which he compares the Skywalkerâs issue and makes his conclusion, isnât it?
To sum up? In this scene, Windu may be probably recalling his own special bond with _someone_, and, drawing from it the conclusion that a Jedi CAN perfectly fulfil his duties even if he has romantic feelings, advises Obi-Wan to trust his padawan with this.
Grievous Intrigue  â Star Wars: the Clone Wars 2x09
A small, but very a cute detail: in the episode when a hologram is shown to the Jedi Council, on which general Grievous tortures Eeth Koth and promises the zabrak jedi master "endless sufferingâ Mace Windu clenches his fists in the background.
And how much was said about the Jedi acceptance, the fortitude, the âletting go of emotions in the Forceâ⌠But what acceptance could be here when your small tender husband is being cruelly tortured with the electrostaff???
Before the holotransmition / / after the holotransmition
Star Wars: Zam Wesell
Here is a moment I spotted in this comics: when masters Rancisis and Koth both speak up during a Council meeting, Eeth is the first one Mace answers to. I know that this can seem a little bit weak as an argument but add to this THAT stare Koth gives Windu when applying for being the Alderaan guard.
Yes, exactly. THAT kind of stare right here ( ÍĄ ° ÍĘ ÍĄ ° )
I mean, seriously, man, stop flirting with your Master of the Order husband right in the middle of the meeting! We know that on Alderaan they make one of the best sorts of wine in the whole galaxy, and you want to offer a date, but calm down a bit please, okay? You donât want to get caught, right?)))
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace
No, well, but there is no excuse for the fact that in the background during the scene of the Council meeting before sending Master Jinn and Padawan Kenobi to Naboo as an escort for queen Amidala, Eeth is sitting in exactly the same way in which you could see Windu sitting himself on some of the TPM photos. That's all, thatâs like the final proof that Eeth is a stupid husband and in love with his partner. Because one of the forms of love language? Yes, the one with interest copying, when a person is copying the gestures, the stature and the movements of whom heâs interested in, u-hum.
Eeth really have no, NO excuse for that, I swear
Bonus: The seats on the High Council
As one very wise person on twitter had once said,
This person was referring to Plo Koon and Kit Fisto tho, but I tell you what, this also applies very much to Mace Windu and Eeth Koth. So here is Mace and Eeth on the Council staring at each other after a holotransmition!

An Analysis of Ahsoka and Windu's Interaction in TCW Finale Season 7 Episode 11 - Why Windu's Comment is in the Right
It's been 28 days since the Clone Wars finale finished. It has been 31 days since Episode 11: Shattered aired. This was the infamous episode that had a good majority raging anger at Jedi Master/General and Council Member Mace Windu.
In the opening 5-6mins, we see the Jedi Council meeting via hologram, the scene we see taking place on Coruscant in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Moments after, Ahsoka walks in with Rex. Now, this opinion might put me in the crosshairs of some people who will think differently, but I have an inkling or belief some are misinterpreting this particular scene.
Let me make it clear first: I love Ahsoka. She is one of the greatest characters brought into the Star Wars mythos by George Lucas and brought to life by Dave Filoni and voiced wonderfully by the talented Ashley Eckstein. Do you want to know how much Ahsoka Tano means to me? I wouldn't have come back and embraced Star Wars again had I not discovered her character watching random Rebels clips on YouTube which led me back to the Clone Wars ~2yrs ago.
I greatly thank Ashley Eckstein for bringing me back to the fandom. Back to the main point, separating voice actor/actress from their character. In my point of view, I'm NOT directing it at EVERYONE, but some of those who love or big fans of Ahsoka so much there's no fault in her. Her character had faults in the beginning and she's still a flawed character. Ahsoka is flawed, but so well written, she is relatable and to a certain degree, perfect. That's not what I'm on about. It's about the lash and some giving Windu the slap because of how he addresses and speaks to Ahsoka post-capture and detainment of Maul.
We all know, but to refresh some, Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi Order, this effectively removing her status as a Jedi Padawan and Commander of the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic. She chose to walk away and strip herself of everything, military rank and privileges. She is essentially a standard citizen trying to survive and make ends meet of a cruel galaxy, in a dying Galactic Republic. We are well aware, the twilight of the Republic and the Jedi was near, inevitable and unavoidable. So let me reiterate Ahsoka's stance, because this is an important point. Tano is a CITIZEN. She's a CIVILIAN.
Push forward to the Siege of Mandalore, without a doubt, some time has passed and Ahsoka's walkabout took place before the Bad Batch arc, with Republic on shaky battle grounds against the Separatists on Annaxes, which it's sitting on a major hyperspace lane direct to Coruscant (way too close for comfort).
By the time Ahsoka fills in the Council about the status of Maul and Mandalore, here comes the scene that had a lot of people running up the walls of how Windu addresses and treats Ahsoka. Let's remind ourselves of some vital quotes and points. Ahsoka was not a Jedi, she gave that up. She could have chosen to enlist directly into the GAR instead as a commissioned officer or take back her position as Commander via the GAR. Positions and military rank were given to the Jedi by their own status in the Order. Knights and Masters given General, Padawans ranked Commanders (Obi-wan an exception since he had a Clone Marshal Commander).
The Siege of Mandalore was going to be a sticky one despite success because Mandalore is a neutral planet, though it had links to the Republic, but is very much neutral. I won't go into complexities, but visit the YouTube channel Generation Tech, they did a very good exploration into it. I'll avoid politics standpoints for now.
Back to the primary point. Ahsoka stated she only fought in the siege as her duty as a citizen, but as not a Jedi.
"I did my duty as a citizen." - Ahsoka Tano
She also says prior to that statement:
"I will escort Commander Rex when he delivers him to Coruscant." - Ahsoka Tano
Finished with:
"No, not yet." - Ahsoka Tano
This is the key point here. Ahsoka is a citizen. She aided as a citizen, fought as a citizen and she is taking time out to escort Commander Rex and the 332nd back to Coruscant. After that, she would have went her separate ways (but we all know disaster strikes). To make it clear: Ahsoka Tano is a citizen who freely involved herself in what would have been a campaign, part of the Outer Rim Sieges and in extension, Jedi business.
Now, the statement Windu make upon the 'wrapping up' of the meeting.
"I'm sorry, citizen, but these are matters for the Council to discuss." - Mace Windu
And this where lovers of TCW nearly flipped the table. The scenario was read and interpreted as rude and maybe even condescending on Ahsoka, despite her service in the siege. However, I think the scene is being read incorrectly.
Ahsoka openly stated before the High Jedi Council that she is a citizen, only fought as her duty as a citizen. How often in real life do you hear a citizen involving themself in a military campaign? It's almost unheard of, but this is Star Wars and it's fiction, but there is real life influences that make logical sense.
In this case, there is without a doubt somewhere in the regulation handbook of the GAR that under any circumstances are civilians NOT to be disclosed to military information. Military information and even to involved in the Council meeting, it's something not be shared with a civilian. Sharing what is classified information is a MAJOR breach in security. I'm not saying Ahsoka is a spy (though she does become a pretty badass one one in Rebels), but because of her status as a civilian, she cannot be disclosed such information. Heck, even if the boys wanted to see her again, Ahsoka cannot walk into the Clone Barracks anymore. She probably can, unless someone escorts her, people like Rex or a fellow General such as Anakin.
We already know Windu is getting stressed by the war, almost desperate to end the war and we all know the action he takes in the film. Windu does love the Republic, if I'm correct, it was quoted in Stover's ROTS novelisation, he thought he is doing best for the Republic.
Anyways, I think there are those being too harsh on Windu. Think about it again, I'd you were in Ahsoka's shoes, a citizen after fighting in a siege, essentially part of the Clone Wars, neither you would be privy to sensitive information. Windu is stoic as it is, it's not his attitude, it's his tone that came across as condescending. He was only repeating what Ahsoka stated to them, so his mindset was: "alright, you called yourself a citizen, then you shall be treated as such". Yes, his tone might not have helped much, but he is right. Ahsoka could be disclosed what is highly sensitive and classified information. If they did, just because she used to be part of the Order, it is A MAJOR BREACH in security protocol.
To repeat: Windu is correct to tell Tano that she cannot be disclosed what goes on in a Council Meeting or the situation of the war. It is all down due her status as a citizen. It would be a different story if after leaving the Jedi, she reinstated herself by enlisting with the GAR.
Just remember that despite misgivings, Windu is a highly valued member of the Jedi Order and a highly skilled one. He is also powerful in the Force. Before the war broke out in 22 BBY, he was trained as a Jedi Guardian, up to the events of TPM, he was already a Master of the Order and even one of the best swordsman of the time. He was first taught under Grand Master Yoda, then his years as Padawan up to the Jedi Knight Trials learning under Jedi Master T'ra Saa. At a very young agree too, he discovered his rare Force ability to see shatterpoints in the Force. This skill greatly aided Windu at how hissy would his future actions, along with the vulnerability of the opponents he faced. Because of his ability in shatterpoint, Windu even had glimpses into parts of the future of how he works build his lightsaber.
Windu also created one off the most difficult lightsaber forms that the Jedi Order forbade except to even and perhaps even his own student: Master Depa Billaba. Quinlan Vos is another notable practitioner. A counteract style to Form VII: Juyo. He created Vaapad, along with another Jedi Master named Sora Bulq. Quoting Windu on his description when he created the form:
"I created Vaapad to answer my weakness: it channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light." - Mace Windu
Windu had his own struggles with the Dark Side and he channelled that into a form. To use ones own inner darkness and channel it into a weapon of the light and not even fall in the process. It's an opposite of Juyo, the style being more of a 'state of mind' and not just another fighting style. To channel their own darkness and accept the fury of an opponent whereas Juyo as described by Kreia:
"Predictably, he seeks to unbalance you with his erratic attacks. His technique is called Juyo, the most chaotic of the lightsaber forms. This form sacrifices much to bolster offense, leaving one exposed to attack by the Force." - Kreia
This post had gone on long enough, all I'm saying is to maybe read the interaction between Ahsoka and Windu a little bit differently. Windu is correct not to disclose classified information, even council information especially with her status as a civilian. Perhaps don't be quick to judge Windu or even just think twice. Sorry for the long post, but I needed to get out of my head.
