The Problem: I don't know who the Cyanea nozakii is named after and none of the sources will tell me

Solution: Look up the original description of the jellyfish, which is listed in the jellyfish's WoRMS page

Problem: WoRMS doesn't have a copy listed on their website

Solution: Search this up

Ok, but one thing I will never tolerate in Charles-Xavier-hate is when people say he's "hiding in his school" or "being a coward" because MY SIBLINGS IN CHRIST.

People who say this may not know THE GUTS it takes to be a teacher. As someone who is currently comoletely loosing it in their school-internship:

Not only do you have the responsibility for the well-being of so many youths in that moment: Your teaching will inevitably shape in a small percentage their entire life.

And you will make mistakes. You will never reach every single one of your students. And you know that and you still go back in. Every single day. Because those kids need you. And for better or worse, they're stuck with you now.

And in Charles's case, not only is he a teacher, he is also the principal of effectively a special-education-school. That means he not only deals with the responsibilities of a teacher in the regular system, he also has to deal with his own and his students needs that go beyond that. And work that in a system that does not support it. And deal with parents that may or may not have wanted a "normal child". Many of his students no longer even have a home, so he has to provide them with that.

Of course, other X-Men do the same.

But I am so tired of hearing that what Professor X did was "not effective enough" because it was non-violent.

Of course, we need drastic action. Of course pacifism isn't always the answer. Of course Magneto was right.

But in my view that does not automatically make the Professor wrong.

Yes, he has some incredibly obnoxious takes, depending on who writes him.

Yes, he has a strong tendency for patronising because he thinks his telepathy makes him omniscent.

But so many mutants would not have been in the position to do their amazing stuff if it hadn't been for his school.

Just because it did not bring the most radical of change does not mean it was as good as doing nothing.

Hahaha, god, yes. I feel like Allie would be so deeply entrenched in compulsory heterosexuality in that "it does not even occur to her that this thing she has with Vee might be gay" kind of way, and meanwhile Vee is just suffering acutely every time Allie acts like they are basically married. It's gonna turn into some "oh, you've never had sex? Let's practice" kind of shit before Allie catches a clue.

Meanwhile Vee is the "married for ten years but 'are you sure she really likes me?'" lesbian except the anxiety is actually 100% validated (and directly caused by) by Allie's...everything.

Thinking about Susie teaching Ralsei about sarcasm, and realising that it's more than just a funny "haha let's corrupt the little cinnamon bun" bit.

See, Susie never quite says what she means - everything's couched in casual insults and performative frustration. And yet, because we can read between the lines, we know exactly how she feels about her friends and the situations she finds herself in.

Her teaching Ralsei about sarcasm - saying one thing and meaning another - could actually be seen as her attempting to teach him about the way she specifically interacts with the world... teaching him to look further than the surface detail of what people say and interpret the deeper meaning hiding in plain sight.

By doing this, perhaps what Susie is really trying to do is to let Ralsei into her world, so that he can understand her better... so that they can be better friends.

And oh, isn't that just the sweetest thing ever?
