It's been a while since I've posted any screenshots... So here's one of my favs! Arawn has a cape now and it's made him 10x more dramatic. He looks like he should be an ancient vampire lord who leads a horde of bloodthirsty undead but really he's just some broody guy corrupted by bloodstone who wants his wife back 😔 (I am so normal about him)

@weavermasked says: [ HUSH ]: as a means of getting the receiver to stay quiet, the sender covers their mouth and ends up shoving them into a wall in their urgency. ( from a hissy vampire while passing through a major city together and spotting a couple of guild members across the way )
Tumblr media
Arawn thinks this is uncalled for. Did he have a vague plan to slip away and call for help? Of course he did, despite what it may seem he's not suicidal, and he's travelling with a fucking VAMPIRE. But really, a hand at his mouth? shoving him against a wall?
Arawn winces as his back hits the stone and rolls his eyes, contemplating licking the vampire's hand just to be petty. Or, no. Instead after a moments consideration, he bites him. As hard as he can at this angle. Give Loras a taste of his own fucking medicine.

Myu Ranks Books Read in 2018
I made one of these posts last year.... So here is one for this year.
These are not ranked based on objective literary quality, but by how much I enjoyed reading/listening to them.
Legend of the First Empire (Michael J. Sullivan)
Age of Myth, Age of Swords, Age of War
It isn’t as bleak as “The First Law” books. There is still hope, but i don’t expect a happily-ever-after ending when the series wraps up in a few years.
I would place it on par of the Cycle of Arawn books.
The characters are well written and will be put through the ringers emotionally and physically.
My fav died at the end of the 3rd book so... there is that.
The Dematr Saga (Jack Campbell)
Part 1: Dragons of Dorcastle, Hidden Masters of Marandur, The Assassins of Altis, Pirates of Pacta Savanda, The Servants of the Storm, Wrath of the Great Guilds
Part 2: The Daughter of Dragons, Blood of Dragons, Destiny of Dragons
A healthy dose of World Building and Realistic action.
“Chosen One” trope and YA romance plot dropped down in the middle of it, but not in an insufferable way.
You will want to visit many of these places and actually visualize how this world works.
Does not shy away from the violence of war, even though rated a YA series.
Brief Cases (The Dresden Files)
It was so refreshing returning to the world of Dresden after finishing Skin Game a few years ago. I was thirsty for some more.
The final story with Dresden taking Mouse and Maggie to the the zoo was one of the best ones in the series.
Fred the Vampire Accountant & Undeath and Taxes
While I was missing Dresden, this series feels like “Dresden Lite”... for the Young Adult Crowd.
However, the main group of characters are all adults, no “young kid saves the world” tropes to worry about from the main cast.
From the same writer as the NPCs book.
Genesis Fleet: Vangard and Ascendant (Jack Campbell)
Jack Campbell going back to the Lost Fleet universe and giving us more space battles, politics, and likable characters.
Very Hard Sci-Fi.
Season of Storms (The Witcher Saga)
Geralt is having a bad few weeks, the story.
If you liked “The Last Wish” and “Sword of Destiny” you will like this story, as it is more or less a novel-sized version of one of the short stories.
Lord of The Rings: The Hobbit, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers
A Classic, and I am going to get to the Return of the King and Simirellion soon.
Frodo and co. run into a retired Elder God in the Fellowship... wtf.
The Punch Escrow
Get the audio book. Mat Mercer reads it.
The book itself is written well.
A think-piece on teleportation, cloning, and morality of killing people.
Differently Morphious, Jam, Mogworld (Yahtzee)
Parody of the world as seen through the eyes of sarcasm.
Yahtzee reads the books and he does a really good job at it.
DM goes a little too hard on criticizing SJW internet culture. But sets up a good basis for a sequel with characters that are likable enough and mysterious enough.
Shift (Silo Saga, Book 2)
I liked this one more than the first book Wool.
You find out why the Silos were built and why they were in them.
Things aren’t going to end well for the main protag.
Halloween (1978) Novelization:
If you want to know where all the weird witchcraft came from in the middle movies...
More about Michael as a Child and about what he was doing in Smith’s Grove before he decided to give no more fucks and shut up for 40 years.
Alien: Out of the Shadows, Alien: River of Pain (Audio Drama)
Well acted, though i should’ve prob liked listening to the proper audio book version of them more than the radio drama version.
No Country For Old Men
If you like the move, you’ll like the book. They follow each other beat-for-beat.... Tommy Lee Jones and Javier performances are prob the main reason to watch the movie.
La Morte D’Arthur
It takes a minute to get over the “modern English” language. And after that your brain would be randomly speaking in it for the next week.
Dead horses.
Lots of Names being tossed around.
Nobody knowing who the hell the other person is, because of helmets.
Parable of Sower
Post-Modern, fall of civilization.
Main character a WOC
Heavy on religion, even one that is being made up in the book.
Maisie Dobbs
WW1-era and post era story.
Deals with PTSD/Shellshock and what happened to the injured from the war.
The crime mystery part isn’t difficult to figure out.
Till we Have Faces (CS Lewis)
From the writer of Narnia, one of his final stories to write.
Puts some realism in a classic Greek/Roman myth.
The Soul of an Octopus
you will cry for an octopus.
The Good Girl
Sorting out what is truth and what isn’t is perhaps the bigger draw of the book.
The ending hands us the answer.
The Handmaid’s Tale
First season of the show follows the entire book and is more an expansion on the book.
There isn’t a sequel to the book. Get the Anniversary edition with the “Post Fall” historical account to get some speculation as to what could have happened next.
I am Number 4
Neil Kaplan read the Audio book... and that is why i got it
It is average in just about every other reason what so ever.
Lies my Girlfriend Told me
that bitch.
if you are wanting teen drama and LGBTQ rep that isn’t sugar coated.
White Fang
segments from the wolf’s pov are really good.
some things can’t be translated well onto screen.
The Left Hand of Darkness
Gender-neutral society.
Not much else to set it apart from other science fiction to come out at the same time or after it.
I am Legend
Man Pain
Science Vampires
Typical story of Who is the Man and Who is the Monster?
Stinker Lets Loose
The voice acting is good.
Trying too hard to sound like a Politically Incorrect comedy movie made in the 60′s and 70′s.
Willful Child.
Another example of trying to hard to be Retroactively funny.
If you want to follow a poorly written Zapp Brannigan around for an entire book.
Moby Dick
Too long. No Fun.
The middle 200 pages could be taken out and would still read just fine.
Endurance: Shackelton’s Incredible Voyage
It droans on way too long in places.
Not a pleasant subject.
Non-Fiction.
Free book. If you like tragic realistic stories that are a slog to read, else-wise don’t buy it.
Books in Library that Hadn’t gotten to yet:
A Christmas Carol
The Spear of the Stars (Cycle of Galand, book 5)
Bloody Acquisitions (Fred the Vampire Accountant, book 3).
Extinct (Extracted, Book 3)
Return of the King
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
Stephen Fry’s Victorian Secrets
The Lady of the Rivers

Who would be the protagonist of the guild, then? Are they a set protagonist or are they customizable? Or are they, like the Arcana's MC, invisible and for us to imagine? Thank you for your time and good luck with your project!! (Oh and also, does that mean that every episode of Capital Purges is gonna be its own game, with its own characters and storylines, or..?)
In terms of story, they’re the “member of The Devout” I spoke of in the last line (here). The protagonist comes from a disgraced family within Arawn, and are sent on the guild mission as a way to pardon their family and grant them “ascension” within the order. Only their backstory is set, for story reasons. Everything else would be up to a hypothetical player. I don’t imagine the character would be visible, but would of course be able to make choices in dialogue, story, route…
As for the different episodes, I have three total. I’m thinking the other two will be novellas or comics of some sort, if I ever get around to them. If not, they’ll just be background information:
The Guild, which is my main project;
Newland, a hard prequel to The Guild, revolving around Raul’s time in Pyre, which is when most of the characters met;
Redholt, which focuses on Baldemar and Adalgisa’s family, and tells the story of Baldemar’s return to Werme after more than a decade away.
Both The Guild and Newland are fully planned out. All three have their own, specific casts, but with returning characters: the six, core members of the guild.
And thank you!

“I could feel the power flowing through me...
The moment I touched ‘The Legend’, lost for who knows how long, in that abandoned tomb, I felt it. Calling me, like waves. On that same day, at the top of our guild halls, by the momument of legends...I swore I would walk down that path. Of course, the guild helped. Specially Commander Etherdry, and Liutenant Arawn (even Faunn  and Hoffxen, that prankster duo, helped).
When everything was ready, I was going to the way of the mystic forge. But Etherdry gave me a final word. Having a legendary himself, he knew that the powers that come with such weapons are tremendous, and sometimes, overwhelming. He Mastered it, though. And even in his apearance, you can see the power of Kudzu flowing through him, becoming one with him. And I remember his words.
‘Stiles, everything is ready. But I need to warn you, a lendendary weapon is no small matter, or an easy task. - he said, turning to me, and giving me a firm, yet concerned look. -  Conquering such power requires tremendous mental and physical strength. If you’re not prepared for it, the weapon’s power will take its toll, and you’ll succumb to it.’
‘Commander. I’m ready....I think i’m ready’ -I wavered for a moment...
‘You think? Stiles...’
‘No... - I looked in his eyes. Resolution in my voice - I’m ready. Believe me.’
‘My friend, I believe you. But for the task ahead, YOU must believe yourself. That will make all the difference, when the time comes.’
He turned and left, placing a hand on my shoulder as he began walking. I took a deep breath, and we went our way, and soon we were on our destination. With all materials, and the weapon in hands, i began the ritual. Placing them and my own will on the mystic forge, it came out a thing of beauty: Bifrost, shining bright like Northern Lights, its power spreading in all directions for a moment. Behind me, I heard my guild, sayin’ “Claim it”.
I extended my hands and hold the staff. And I felt its power; cold, strong, overwhelming, like an avalanche devastating all in its way. It hurt at touch, and I could feel my forces leaving me, all my strenght being drained by it. I was...fading. I thought it would be the end, but I still could her them. My guild mates, calling my name, giving me their courage, their strenght, their hearts. I concentrated all my might, all my will, all my soul. ‘Melandru...guide my hands’ I let out as a breath from my lips. The power grew, furious, wild, untamed. But I decided that was I battle I would win. I should win.
I could fell all my elemental energy flowing around me, becoming one with me, in a way i never felt before. My elemental water stone, that I had for so many years, shattered on my forehead...but I felt its power coming to me. My hands felt so cold, but at the same time, so warm, and strong, i could fell sparks between my fingers. I was attuning to it...claiming it. The power so much it broke my gauntlets, shattering it beyong repair. And it all went white.
When I open my eyes...I felt different. I felt...peace, like que calm waters of a lake. My hands were different too, they felt ethereal, even the touch. Now pure power ran through them, making them aspects of the elements themselves. And in my hand, Bifrost. Now warm and gentle to my touch, one with me. My comrades came, and congratulated me. My Commander looked in my eyes, and I knew. I knew now, how it feels. To become a real legend.”

“can’t you listen to me?” For the writing prompt 👀
Thanks for the ask bruh ❤️👀 I’m gonna do this one with Arianr and Arawn!
(warning: this includes eye trauma)
---
“Can’t you listen to me?!” Arianr shouted, grabbing her former lover by his shoulders. He scoffed and swatted her hands away.
“Can’t you listen to me?” Arawn argued, “You’re not getting it. The bloodstone can help us. With it’s power, we will never have to fear for our safety again! We will be on top. People will fear us!” He waved his hand around, gesturing to the bloodstone growing on the walls of the long-abandoned Inquest lab.
“That’s exactly the problem! I don’t want to be feared! You don’t want to be feared! I know you, Arawn. This isn’t you! Can’t you see the bloodstone is corrupting you?” She cried, tears welling up in her eyes.
“You are the one who is corrupted.” He said, shaking his head, “Look at you. Look at what your precious dragon has done to you. You have been made into their servant and you refuse to see that.” Arianr furrowed her brow, glaring at the dark sylvari before her. He sighed and softened slightly, reaching out and brushing a few of Arianr’s tears away. “I love you, dearheart. I want you with me. Please. Join me.” Arawn murmured sweetly, tracing her jawline with his thumb. She leaned into his touch, closing her eyes as she desperately held onto each tender moment. He slowly leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips, softly whispering “please” once more. It broke her heart. She wanted so desperately to be with him, but she knew she couldn’t be. Not when he's like this.
“I’m sorry, dearheart. I won’t.” She whispered sorrowfully against his lips, “I won’t join you.” Arawn’s crimson eyes narrowed and he leaned back, looking down at his former lover with a hurt, bitter expression.
“Don’t you love me anymore?” He asked, his brow furrowed.
“Yes! Of course I do. I will always love you. That’s exactly why I won’t join you.” Arianr said desperately, “I will not let you do this to yourself.” He sighed heavily and shook his head.
“You’re not making any sense, my love. The dragon... it’s messing with your thoughts. It’s trying to turn us against one another.” The corrupted sylvari said, “Why don’t you see that?”
“The Voice of The Mists has nothing to do with this.” Arianr huffed in frustration, “It’s the bloodstone! How many times do I have to tell you that?”
“The Voice wants you to think it’s the bloodstone. It’s afraid that by embracing the bloodstone, you’ll become stronger than it!” Arawn argued, “Open your eyes, dearheart. You’re being used.”
“You’re wrong.” She growled, “You’re the one being used. You’ve seen what the bloodstone does to other people. It makes them go mad.” The dark sylvari scoffed.
“Those people were weak. I am not.” He sneered, “The bloodstone bends to my will. Not the other way around.”
“You’re a fool to think that. Perhaps you haven’t gone completely mad like the others, but the bloodstone still controls you.” The light colored sylvari hissed, “Look at what you’ve done, Arawn! You’ve killed people! That isn’t you! You would never kill anyone!” She cupped his face and pulled him in close. “I remember when you would cry after accidentally stepping on a bug. You use to grow gardens and raise every lost baby animal you came across.” She said softly, “Where has your kindness gone?”
“People change. I’ve become what I had to be to survive.” Arawn said coldly as he once again pushed her away, but for a moment there was the faintest look of shame and regret on his face.
“Arawn... I believe there’s still good in you somewhere.” She said sadly, “You’re scared. I understand. The... incident... with the White Mantle was traumatic for both of us... But you aren’t alone. We have each other. Please. Let me help you.” She took his hands in hers and squeezed them as she looked desperately into his crimson eyes, pleading and hoping for him to listen to her. He hesitated for a moment, his resolve wavering. Deep inside, some part of him wanted to believe Arianr. It wanted to jump into her arms, to let her take care of him and tend to all the broken parts of his soul. Arawn’s brow furrowed and he crushed the feeling deep, deep down.
“I don’t need help.” He said, glaring down at her, “You need help, and I will help you whether you like it or not.” Suddenly, he twisted her arms behind her back, making her yelp in pain. “If you will not willingly embrace the bloodstone, then I will make you. It’s for your own good.” The corrupted sylvari snarled, starting to drag her to the lab with the largest concentration of bloodstone.
“No! Arawn! Stop!” She shouted, struggling to break out of his grip.
“Stop fighting me! I’m doing this for you! For us!” He growled.
“You’re doing this for yourself!” She snapped back. The light colored sylvari elbowed him in his side and stomped on his foot, making his grip on her arms loosen as he hissed in pain. She then twisted around and slammed her body into his, sending them both hurtling into a glass pane. Shards of glass flew everywhere as they tumbled to the ground. Arianr quickly rolled off to the side, ignoring the glass digging into her skin as she tried to get away. She wasn’t fast enough, however, and Arawn grabbed her leg, pulling her back towards him. Her heart pounded in fear, her mind flashing back to long ago when the White Mantle surrounded her. Acting purely on instinct, she grabbed a large shard of glass and whirled around, plunging it into her attacker’s eye. She realized her mistake too late.
Arawn howled in pain, recoiling back and letting go of Arianr as he clutched his injured eye. He staggered to his feet, corrupted black sap pouring down the side of his face as he ripped the shard of glass out. Arianr could only stare in horror at what she’s done.
“A... Arawn... I...” She stammered, but the words caught in her throat as her former lover looked at with her with such anger and hurt in his now only eye.
“Arianr... How could you?” He hissed out through gritted teeth as he leaned on a lab console, his voice filled with grief.
“I didn’t mean to.” She choked out, tearing welling in her eyes, “It was an accident, I-I swear!”
“Get out.” He said. She didn’t move. “GET OUT!” The corrupted sylvari roared, slamming his fist on the lab console, breaking it. The light color sylvari moved this time, quickly scrambling to her feet and stepping back.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered sorrowfully before conjuring a portal to the Mists and disappearing into it. Slowly, Arawn slumped to his knees, shaking from the pain and the storm of emotions inside him.
