1. What's literally happening?

The narrator seems to be standing in a doorway, explaining herself to someone else. While it could be a love interest, there's nothing explicit in the text about it. She's not really apologizing, but is trying to explain why she did what she did.

2. What allegorical images, stories, songs, or metaphors show up for you?

hard time adjusting reminds me of school starts, or other big transition periods

pulled the car off the road to the lookout - I've been on tons of road trips and driven past tons of lookouts, but I don't actually remember stopping at many of them

could've followed my fears all the way down - fears sounds like tears to me; I also think of songs like Is It Over Now or hoax where she talks about standing on the edge of a cliff

they told me all of my cages were mental - thinking about that cage in the Look What You Made Me Do music video; reminds me of my own struggle with depression

I got wasted like all my potential - I've never been drunk but I just love this line so much. Love the double use of wasted here

words shoot to kill when I'm mad - kill two birds with one stone comes to mind (obviously doesn't make a ton of sense here)

I was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere / Fell behind all my classmates - also love this line and the double "curve" use. Really felt this way for a long time post-mono and it wasn't until I found something to be enthusiastic about that I stopped feeling so "behind"

But I didn't pour the whiskey - think this ties back to the wasted like potential line, though it's always thrown me off a bit. maybe whiskey being her life circumstances?

feel like an open wound - interesting that it's not feeling like she has an open wound, but rather that she is one. Maybe something people would rather ignore but look at her out of the corner of their eye anyways out of morbid curiousity

3. What experiences have you had in your own life that come to mind?

Kinda did some of this in step 2, but on we go!

I constantly feel like I'm trying but I'm not giving as much as I want to. I had mono in 2016 that triggered some bad depression and fatigue that I only figured out a partial treatment option for last year. Before that I was extremely outgoing, busy, and on top of things (most of the time. I still had PMDD to cope with). And then I suddenly didn't have energy to do what I wanted to do, or more things hurt to think about. I kept feeling like I was saying "this is me trying" to everyone around me, because I wasn't who I had been before.

4. What action are you being called to take?

I think I need to be better at admitting when I'm wrong. Even in a short phrase of "I'm sorry, that wasn't a kind thing for me to say" is something that I feel like I need to get into the practice of doing.

Filho de comerciantes, se viu sozinho no mundo quando em um ano seguido do outro perdeu sua fundação. Primeiro o pai, aos dezessete, vítima de um acidente pela estrada, ao buscar mercadorias e depois a mãe de doença, em que ele acredita que só tenha agravado graças a tristeza de ter perdido o marido. Morou em Salgueiro com uma tia até se sentir seguro em morar sozinho, apesar de bem tratado, não se sentia confortável em meio aos primos e já era um desejo seu, por os pés no mundo.

Mudou-se para Recife perto dos vinte anos, vendendo a loja dos pais, que já não dava mais tanto lucro e se matriculou, com bolsa, em uma universidade particular da região. Entrou em ciência da computação apenas porque era algo que estava em alta e ele sabia que era um emprego seguro, mas com dinheiro acabando e a falta de vontade de voltar para a cidade que lhe trazia tantas lembranças, acabou aceitando o primeiro emprego que lhe apareceu. Trancou a faculdade e tornou-se motorista de um vereador local e logo, por oferta e, de certa forma, demanda, já que era um vereador muito querido, mas que acabou fazendo inimigos, acresceu em suas funções a de proteger o homem e as filhas dele quando os levava por aí como segurança.

Jovem, imaturo e em contato constante com uma das filhas desse vereador, acabou se apaixonando pela que tinha a idade próxima a sua e delirava um pouco por conta da atenção que recebia dela ao leva-la e busca-la na faculdade. A proximidade tornou-se uma amizade mal vista pelos amigos dele e até pela irmã mais nova da garota e eram constantemente lembrados de que esse romance não daria certo. Temendo arranjar problemas para a mulher que amava e como não era preso a nada, aceitou a proposta de um outro deputado que logo viria a ser prefeito e ir com ele trabalhar no interior. Aos vinte e cinco, virou segurança do prefeito do Crato, uma cidade pequena no interior do Ceará, que mais lhe parecia uma praça de Recife. O interior de onde viera, Salgueiro, era ainda maior que o lugar que lhe causou estranheza, mas não demorou para que o dinheiro fosse recompensador e ele se acostumasse. Mudou-se da cidadezinha apenas porque o Prefeito resolveu se aventurar como Deputado Federal e dispensar seus serviços por algo mais profissional. Virou motorista de outra casa de família por indicação, mudando-se com eles para Maraú, onde vive agora.

Ele é um cara “gente boa”, sempre indo atrás de ajudar e melhor o espaço em que está. Inclusive, adora deixar as pessoas confortáveis, mas é bem pessimista. Gosta de uma rotina e é difícil tirá-lo do sério.

LECTIO DIVINA (asupra unor metode de studiu eficient și aprofundat)

LECTIO DIVINA (lecțio divina) - un mod tradițional de a studia și ruga, încât Lectura să poată penetra în inimi și să facă să crească relația noastră intimă cu Divinul. Este un mod descoperit și practicat de călugări. Din latină „Lectio Divina” înseamnă „Lectură Divină”. Se spune că în sec. XII un călugăr certozin, numit Guigo, descria etapele cele mai importante ale „lecturii divine”. Prima treaptă este LECTIO (lectura, citirea): citim în mod lent și atent. A doua treaptă este MEDITATIO (meditarea): se reflectează la text.  A treia treaptă este ORATIO (rugăciunea): este momentul de a lăsa modul nostru de a gândi și permitem inimii să vorbească cu Divinul; rugăciunea este inspirată de meditație. Ultima treaptă este CONTEMPLATIO (contemplarea): ne deschidem tăcut în liniște și ascultare lumii spirituale, harului divin, vocii divine. LECTIO DIVINA poate fi practicată individual sau în grup.

Astfel, Lectio Divina este o practică de spiritualitate creștină care își are rădăcinile în tradiția monastică a bisericii catolice și în tradițiile ortodoxe. Aceasta este o metodă de citire și meditație. Să-i repetăm etapele:

1. Lectio (Lectură): În această etapă, se citește un pasaj sau un verset cu atenție și răbdare. Scopul nu este de a înțelege întregul text, ci de a permite unui anumit verset sau idee să rămână în inimă și minte. Cititorul poate citi pasajul de mai multe ori până când acesta începe a rezonă cu el.

2. Meditatio (Meditație): În această etapă, credinciosul reflectează și meditează asupra cuvintelor sau a ideii care l-au atras în timpul lecturii. Cititorul se concentrează pentru analiză și înțelegere, cât și a găsi relevanța conținutului pentru propria-i viață.

3. Oratio (Rugăciune): După meditație, se trece la rugăciune. Credinciosul poate adresa lui Dumnezeu gândurile, sentimentele, întrebările și aspirațiile care au venit în timpul meditației. Este un moment de dialog spiritual bazat pe ceea ce a fost descoperit în pasajul citit și meditat.

4.Contemplatio (Contemplare): În această etapă, se lasă deoparte cuvintele și gândurile și se deschide la prezența Divinului. Este un timp de tăcere și contemplare, în care individul se predă în liniște în fața Divinului și încearcă să-l simtă și să-l asculte. Acesta poate fi un moment de intimitate spirituală profundă.

Conform altor date, Lectio Divina are origini în tradiția monastică creștină timpurie, în special în mănăstirile benedictine. Sfântul Benedict, fondatorul ordinului benedictin, a promovat această practică ca parte integrantă a vieții monastice.

Lectio Divina nu este o lectură rapidă, ci o practică meditativă și contemplativă.

Practicanții Lectio Divina pot alege diferite pasaje sau versete biblice sau altor scripturi spirituale pentru a le medita. Acestea pot fi pasaje alese la întâmplare sau selectate în mod conștient pentru o anumită perioadă sau temă spirituală.

Lectio Divina poate fi practicată în orice moment și în orice loc potrivit pentru practicant. Unii oameni preferă să o facă dimineața sau seara, în timp ce alții o practică în timpul zilei, într-un locaș sfânt, în liniște sau într-un loc liniștit acasă.

Lectio Divina poate fi adaptată la preferințele individuale și poate include sau exclude anumite etape, în funcție de ceea ce se potrivește cel mai bine cu nevoile și experiența personală.

Practicarea Lectio Divina poate aduce numeroase beneficii, inclusiv o creștere a înțelegerii profunde a celor lecturate, o relație mai profundă cu Divinul, o mai mare pace interioară și o creștere a vieții de înțelegere spirituală.

Lectio Divina poate fi practicată într-un context individual, comunitar, în grupuri mici sau mari, unde practicanții pot citi și medita asupra aceluiași pasaj și apoi împărtăși ceea ce au descoperit cu ceilalți.

Lectio Divina este o modalitate de a merge dincolo de înțelegerea intelectuală a scripturilor și de a trăirii prezenței Cuvântului divin.

Iată un exemplu simplu de aplicare a metodei Lectio Divina folosind un pasaj evaghelic:

Lectio (Lectură): Alegeți un pasaj biblic, cum ar fi o scurtă parabolă sau o învățătură a lui Isus din Evanghelia după Matei, capitolul 6, versetul 25-34:

”25. De aceea vă spun: Nu vă îngrijorați de viața voastră, gândindu-vă ce veți mânca sau ce veți bea; nici de trupul vostru, gândindu-vă cu ce vă veți îmbrăca. Oare nu este viața mai mult decât hrana și trupul, mai mult decât îmbrăcămintea?

26. Uitați-vă la păsările cerului: ele nici nu seamănă, nici nu seceră și nici nu strâng nimic în grânare, și totuși Tatăl vostru cel ceresc le hrănește. Oare nu sunteți voi cu mult mai de preț decât ele?

27. Și apoi, cine dintre voi, chiar îngrijorându-se, poate să adauge măcar un cot la înălțimea lui?

28. Și de ce vă îngrijorați de îmbrăcăminte? Uitați-vă cu băgare de seamă cum cresc crinii de pe câmp: ei nici nu torc, nici nu țes;

29. totuși vă spun că nici chiar Solomon, în toată slava lui, nu s-a îmbrăcat ca unul din ei.

30. Așa că, dacă astfel îmbracă Dumnezeu iarba de pe câmp, care astăzi este, dar mâine va fi aruncată în cuptor, nu vă va îmbrăca El cu mult mai mult pe voi, puțin credincioșilor?

31. Nu vă îngrijorați dar, zicând: ‘Ce vom mânca?’ sau: ‘Ce vom bea?’ sau: ‘Cu ce ne vom îmbrăca?’

32. Fiindcă toate aceste lucruri neamurile le caută. Tatăl vostru cel ceresc știe că aveți trebuință de ele.

33. Căutați mai întâi Împărăția lui Dumnezeu și neprihănirea Lui, și toate aceste lucruri vi se vor da pe deasupra.

34. Nu vă îngrijorați dar de ziua de mâine; căci ziua de mâine se va îngrijora de ea însăși. Ajunge zilei necazul ei.”

Meditatio (Meditație): După ce ați citit pasajul, luați-vă timp să meditați asupra cuvintelor și ideilor din acesta.

Oratio (Rugăciune): În această etapă, lăsați gândurile și reflectările să se transforme în rugăciune.

Contemplatio (Contemplare): Rămâneți în tăcere și liniște. Ascultați cu atenție în liniște.

Cu timpul și practică, Lectio Divina poate fi personalizată și adaptată pentru a vă potrivi nevoilor și experienței spirituale individuale sau de grup.

1. What's literally happening?

Intro/Chorus: the narrator is using love as an excuse for doing something 'crazy.' Love is a drug to her that she's going to keep using. If love doesn't make you crazy, you aren't loving right.

Verse 1: The narrator defines herself as a heartbreaker, playing with guys' feelings (especially older guys). But something new happened in a dark place, and she feels like she needs the muse (love interest in this song).

Pre-Chorus 1: She would do anything for her muse, to the point where other people would say that she went too far.

Verse 2: She doesn't care what the muse calls her; she's just going to call them "mine." She calls herself insane, with the muse's name echoing inside her head. Her good image hides her obsession of the muse. She used to be a poisonous plant, but at least to the muse, she's a flower.

Pre-Chorus 2: The narrator is willing to fall from grace to simply touch the muse; if the muse left, she would beg them to stay.

Bridge: The muse's love makes the narrator feel high, especially when the muse is touching her.

2. What allegorical images, stories, songs, or metaphors show up for you?

obviously the metaphor here is drug use

the poison ivy line is interesting because the rest of the lyrics feel very linked to drug usage, but that line...isn't?

at least one website claims that "in the victorian era, daisies symbolised innocence, loyalty and an ability to keep things secret" which...is interesting here, especially because other lyrics associated with the muse talk about hiding away and keeping the love secret

poison ivy can harm people through touching them, so maybe the narrator felt like she would hurt anyone who touched her, but now the muse sees the narrator as someone they can trust with secrets

Interesting that despite all of the claims that the muse is someone the narrator is obsessed with there's also the continued refrain of "Lord, save me"

It feels like an unhealthy relationship, all-consuming and obsessive

i just like the sound of the line "halo hidin' my obsession"

3. What experiences have you had in your own life that come to mind?

Feeling insecure in a relationship led to me feeling more obsessed and clinging on tighter to something because I could feel it slipping away. The best relationship I've had doesn't make me feel crazy, but rather more centered and at peace.

4. What action are you being called to take?

Where do my obsessions cross into unhealthy territory, even if they aren't obsessions about relationships? Am I obsessed with things because I'm anxious about the idea of losing them?

"In the 12th century, a Carthusian monk called Guigo, described the stages which he saw as essential to the practice of Lectio Divina. There are various ways of practising Lectio Divina either individually or in groups but Guigo's description remains fundamental.

He said that the first stage is lectio (reading) where we read the Word of God, slowly and reflectively so that it sinks into us. Any passage of Scripture can be used for this way of prayer but the passage should not be too long. The second stage is meditatio (reflection) where we think about the text we have chosen and ruminate upon it so that we take from it what God wants to give us.

The third stage is oratio (response) where we leave our thinking aside and simply let our hearts speak to God. This response is inspired by our reflection on the Word of God.

The final stage of Lectio Divina is contemplatio (rest) where we let go not only of our own ideas, plans and meditations but also of our holy words and thoughts. We simply rest in the Word of God."

Hornet genomes add two new pieces to invasive puzzle

An international team of scientists led by University College London announced Friday that they had successfully sequenced the genomes of two species of hornet, the European hornet (Vespa crabro) and yellow-legged or Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) as part of a larger project on invasive wasps and their ability to adapt to new habitats.

They compared these genomes to that of the giant northern hornet (Vespa mandarinia), sequenced in 2020, and found that the hornet genes that had mutated the most rapidly were those related to communication and sense of smell. The team took samples from workers, gynes (queens who have not yet mated), male adults, and queens.

Among invertebrates, hornets tend to be superpredators, preying on everything from caterpillars to other stinging insects. In their natural ranges, they keep other insects in balance. However, when introduced to new areas, they can kill off pollinators, which has implications for humans and our crops. In recent years, the Asian hornet has reached Europe, and the giant northern hornet, also native to Asia, has reached North America.

According to study co-author Dr. Alessandro Cini, “Hornets are carried to different parts of the world accidentally by humans. All that is needed is a small number of mated queens to be transported, hidden in cargo perhaps. The genomes suggest that hornets have lots of genes involved in detecting and responding to chemical cues – these may make them especially good at adapting to hunt different types of prey in non-native regions.”

Apresentando temas delicados que inspiraram muitos seguidores, ele teve que aprender a lidar com uma onda de homofobia. “Antes se ser influencer, minhas experiências diretas com o preconceito por ser gay tinha sido na adolescência, eu revivi muitas coisas do passado com isso, porém o fato de ser gay não foi o que de fato me gerou sentimento de superexposição, e sim, o fato de alimentar as redes sociais de forma excessivamente detalhada com minha vida pessoal”. explica. Ter a delicadeza de trazer um conteúdo importante mas que, ao mesmo tempo, precisa ser cuidadoso com informações sobre localização, companhias e atividades privadas, é algo muito discutido entre os produtores de conteúdo. Recentemente, Whindersson Nunes, Viih Tube, Pe. Fábio de Melo, Eduardo Sterblitch haviam se pronunciado nas redes sociais sobre problemas relacionais e de vivência por conta da superexposição de suas vidas pessoais nas redes. Hoje, 10 anos após ter surgido no YouTube e se tornado um dos maiores influenciadores com temáticas LGBTQIA+, Guigo Kieras acredita que se expor demais abre brecha para opiniões desconfortáveis. “As pessoas se sentem no direito de opinar sobre temas delicados. Eu achava, nos primeiros anos de Youtube, que a superexposição nas redes era o caminho para crescer na internet. Hoje minha visão é que o que vale de fato é oferecer para a audiência algo que ela realmente se interesse, não importa se aquilo está superexposto você”, disse ele. De toda forma, a chave é conseguir avaliar e filtrar o que merece ser compartilhado e, a depender do contexto, saber das pessoas que terão acesso. O Instagram, por exemplo, dá a opção de “Amigos Próximos”. Hoje existem diversos casos de influenciadores que produzem um conteúdo atrativo, com o poder viral, mas que evitam a superexposição, como Vitor Dicastro, Blogueirinha, Henrytado, Lorelay, Junior Caldeirão, Esse Menino e Isaias.
