Realizing that part of the reason comic books have such a strong allure to me is because they have such a wide audience. Unlike a lot of tv programs their writers are aware they're both writing for a younger newer fanbase and a niche adult audience with much higher standards for maturity and depth. Plus they're not as hyped as the film industry and thus the stakes are much lower. And comics, like manga, have more room to establish a solely adult audience for certain franchises or even specific series of that franchise . So superheros and robots have unusual amounts of meta and mature content but also they can't say fuck because Kids Like Robots And Superheros (despite majority of purchasers being at least young adults in this day and age)

#this is about transformers IDW I'm just gonna admit to it #great example of this is mtmte being pretty family friendly but I wouldn't recommend Last Stand of the Wreckers #to anyone unless they can handle heavy gore and moral abiguity #havent read enough other comics to be an expert on this #but a lot of indie comics are written for strictly adults bc of their themes #also I feel like American made comics are reduced to just like #Captain America part 1 million or Random Sexualized Cat Lady a lot of the time #and yeah there's a shit ton of those #but also #opinions #txt
