Alright I figured since I ramble about them so much it's time I made a post talking all about my two darling girls!!! As some of you already know, these are my two (pseudo) self-insert characters; their primary canon is based around the events of Pokemon Black and White and their sequels.

Dedicates herself wholly to the musical arts and shows an exceptional level of skill for her age, but develops burnout as a result of her perfectionist nature and harsh self-criticism born from the pressure she felt to succeed. Leaves on a Pokemon journey for a change of pace and to search for the mythical Pokemon Meloetta in hopes of rekindling her inspiration.

Both parents are top-class Pokemon breeders who spent their teens and early twenties competing in competitions worldwide; after their marriage her mother starts a business selling various Pokemon care products. Her father assists her but tends to work from home so he can focus on taking care of Denise

Her parents' marriage grows unstable and her father abandons the family when Denise is 10. She and her mother have wildly different responses to this, which becomes a source of conflict as Dena becomes frustrated with her mother's state of denial and Jen is incredibly ill-equipped to deal with her daughter's grief on top of her own while now facing the challenges of being a single mother. Denise has a long depressive period before she leaves on a Pokemon journey to escape her home life and possibly find her father.

Personality: introverted, blunt, logical, fiercely loyal to her loved ones

Other facts about the girls:

Martha and Jen are sisters, making Sylvia and Denise cousins. They are two years apart in age (with Sylvia as the older of the two) and each leaves on her respective journey at 18 years old.

Sylvia started as a Bleach OC and used to be named Lilybell, while Denise was created for an unfinished lineup of characters representing musical keys (she was D minor, hence her name). Both are drastically different characters now than how I envisioned them at the time of their conception.

Sylvia's tag [#little songbird] is a nickname Roger used for her when he was still alive.

Denise's tag [#forest for the tree] is in reference to her last name, which means "solitary tree." It symbolizes her tendency to isolate herself due to recurring abandonment issues as a result of her father's disappearance, even though trees usually thrive in community by nourishing each other through interconnected root systems. However, after letting go of her fears and allowing others into her life (finding her "forest" so to speak), she becomes a source of shelter, strength, and comfort for those around her.

Sylvia can be shortened to Syl and Denise to Dena (pronounced "DEE-nuh"); they have a few other nicknames but those are the most common ones.

The descriptions in this post pertain to the main timeline; that is, Sylvia and Denise's adventures across Unova and a few other regions they travel to with the background details exactly as described above. Several other AUs exist, most notably two PLA AUs (one for each of them), Denise's Paldea AU in which she and her mother move there instead of Unova, and a few different Sylvia AUs in which her confrontation with Team Plasma plays out slightly differently. In addition to these, I occasionally put my girls in the universes of other franchises (Bleach, Stardew Valley and Ace Attorney to name a few), but many details there are far less consistent considering the characters weren't created with those universes in mind. As such I generally don't like to discuss them as much, but they are very fun nonetheless and often help me recontextualize how I view their canon storyline.

hello, could I ask about 27, 28, and 36 for the writing asks?

27 = most stressful character you've written: tessa gray, without question. I kinda don't like her for reasons that are mostly about me, but i also know that a lot of people do like her and also that she's not really a bad character objectively, so I feel like I need to write her in (tid is her story after all) and do well by her, but also I'm worried that my personal issues with her will show through and people won't like how I treat her because of it. so. yeah.

28 = most delightful character you've written: this is a really hard question because I really love basically every character I write, even the despicable ones. but I think so far, probably sylvia st. marie from my matthew fairchild x male oc fanfic, the electric devil. she's the best werewolf and the best step-aunt and also she's just gorgeous. i want to bring her back someday. maybe even as a main character somewhere.

36 = what do I know: that situations are complex. everyone has a reason for doing what they do and it might be the most fucked up, twisted reason possible but they justify it to themselves, in their minds they're right and good and their reasons for what they do excuse those actions, even if they really don't. i know that lust and attraction aren't as simple as the allo-allo people think of it, and sometimes people are allo and don't have sex and sometimes people are asexual and do, and sometimes arospec people get into relationships for reasons other than butterflies in the chest but also sometimes they don't get into relationships either and that's also fine. I know that the Elevated is cheap and it's loud (or at least it used to be) and the windows of the rock island line are tinted green and the sky in chicago is the color of pedialyte. I know that the appalachian trail has some of the most gorgeous cliffside views you can find anywhere and how to tell a safe gas station in the county from a scary one. I know how to fix loose bolts on a bicycle.

🖊 + Zach!

Let me gush about my OCs!

Man there's so many things I could talk about with Zach... I guess it's old art day today because under a read more I'll show you what he used to look like!

He was first made back when I got the first Splatoon on the Wii U! And he was just... a pure inkling back then. He was kinda a background character, and originally instead of being blue-yellow colorblind, he was completely colorblind as in he saw the world in shades of grey. (grey? gray? they're both right I guess I never know which one to use lol). This was actually a recent change I made to him, like as in before I made this tumblr I changed it.

He also wasn't originally Sylvia and Haru's brother! He was just... there lol. Same for Haru, they were just friends with another OC of mine. I was going through old art and was like "I could just... make them a family... Yeah I'm gonna do that" and then I had to redesign both Zach and Haru.

And lastly, when they were finally decided to be siblings, I made the choice of making them all Inkling/Octoling mixes. Zach's design was recently changed, as this was a design I was considering for him before settling on the current one.

Lil oc info:

Sylvia (left) and Sloane (right) Keaton are twin sorcerers (or magicians idk). Sylvia can't use much magic herself and relies on tomes or other artifacts to use magic, often using dark or blood magic. Her hair is turning gray from using it and she tries not to use it much rather using her wit to solve problems. She usually works alone or with one other person to solve occult-ish problems.

Sloan has more natural talent and uses her magic with ease, but struggles to control it but she can use a wand to channel it. She uses her magic to move objects, float, and blast things (maybe like elemental ish magic? Idk). Sloane works better in team settings like saving the world or something and ppl can always rely on her. She was had special lessons to handle her magic since she was a kid (or maybe went to a magic school?) and Sylvia was always kind of jealous.

the planet may have been saved, but the world (earthly and otherwise) keeps on turning. daniel fenton and samantha manson’s two sons, harley fenton and nico fenton, were always going to gain attention for having a father who was half-ghost, constantly bombarded with questions over whether they had his powers as well. danny made it very clear that while they may have the same powers, they didn’t have to fight evil ghosts like him. it’s what they did anyway, albeit differently.

tucker foley’s son, sean foley, and jasmine fenton’s daughter, zoe fenton, have taken a more academic route in the ghost world. sean researches ghost anatomy and biology while zoe intends to learn about all things paranormal in order to help her family.

zoe’s younger brother, otto fenton, doesn’t possess the powers his cousins do, nor the academic prowess his older sister does. he searches for ghosts the old-fashioned way while his best friend, delancey gray (child of valerie gray) joins him, filming the entire thing and trying not to laugh the entire time.

sylvia fenton, the daughter of danielle fenton, is reported to have the powers that her cousins(?) do, but she is never seen using them in public. she is the biggest mystery of this group and seems to keep to herself.

Summary: Sylvia (OC) finds herself wanting nothing more to be hidden away under the blankets in her dorm room but her friends and peers invite her to a party.

The room was full of familiar and unfamiliar faces. The chatter and music becoming too much for Sylvia’s head to handle after only thirty minutes of being present. She stood alone against the wall. The wall closest to the nearest exit if she got too overwhelmed by this unnecessary get together. Her hands shook as she tried to ground herself on the glass that was in her hand, she was staring at the moving liquid inside. She was trying to keep it from sloshing around which meant she had to stop shaking first and in order to do that she had to calm her nerves. Sylvia had been over thinking about the liquid inside her cup spilling to notice even more people arriving than before.

Her gray eyes finally lifted as someone bumped her hand trying to get past. “Sorry.” They mumbled in a weak attempt to apologize for nearly knocking her grounding object out of her hand. Her eyes moved from them to the enlarged crowd before her, she couldn’t even see the other side of the room because of how many head and limbs were in the way. Sylvia suddenly didn’t like her placement in the room so she moved further away from the crowd to the steps that had way less bodies occupying it. She peeked through the railings now seeing her friends for her class mingling in the sea of people. She noticed her boyfriend Kirishima look more riled up than usual, he was sharing words with Denki before pivoting on his feet. What was he doing? Was he looking for someone?

Sylvia looked down at her hands feeling something wet hit them. Her hands had began to shake so violently that the drink in her cup was splashing over the sides. She wasted no time to set the cup a step lower than her and drag her wet hands along her jeans. She really didn’t want to be here anymore..but she didn’t want to bother anyone especially kirishima with walking her all the way back to the dorms.

She was drowned by the sudden ringing in her ears and the loud thump of her heart. She wanted it to all stop, she wanted it to go away. Sylvia didn’t like being like this, she wanted to actually enjoy herself at outings not worry about her anxiety getting in the way. Placing her hands over her ears she tried blocking out anymore noise from overstimulating her eardrums. She would start freaking out soon if something didn’t give whether it was the patrons at the party or her anxiety all together. She really didn’t want to embarrass herself tonight in front of half of UA.

“Sylvia? Are you okay?” Someone asked, their voice was calm enough and a specific pitch where so she could pick up their words. It was someone from her class, they all knew about her social anxiety and usually checked up on her when they could. Lifting her cradle head from her knees she saw todoroki standing a few steps below her. His eyes squinted before he peered over his shoulder catching bakugo slipping by. “Hey, bakugo! Go fetch kirishima.” He instructed. But bakugo being bakugo had to make a big deal out of it. “Oi! What the hell did you tell me to do icy hot?! Fetch!? What am I some dumb dog to you! Well I’ll remind you extra-“

Bakugo running his mouth wasn’t going to fly in Sylvia’s desperate time of need for relief. She was worsening by the minutes. She was crying now, her cheeks wet from the tears running down them. “Bakugo! Please..” Sylvia snapped loudly to get his attention before she whimpered out her plead. Even he could see her rigid posture and shaking form from where he stood. Grumbling one last thing to todoroki he disappeared into the crowd. Todoroki removed his jacket and placed it over her head to keep anymore lights and sound from getting to her. They noticed darkness tended to help with her sensory overload. “You’re doing good Sylvia, kirishima is coming now.” He encouraged quietly to her.

“Babe..hey..Sylvie. Can you hear me?” This voice belonged to kirishima. He never touched her when she was in a fragile state like this because he never wanted to make things worse for her. Peeking from underneath Todoroki’s jacket was a pair of dull gray eyes. “Hi pebble. How you doing?” Kiri questioned was a soft smile and a tilt of his head. “Not good..” she whimpered out glancing around not wanting anyone to see her like this. Bakugo stood at the bottom of the steps like a guard dog while Todoroki was making a path to the exit. “Not good pebble..I can see. Want to get out here?” He asked holding out his hand. Sylvia immediately grabbed his hand and pushed to her shaking legs. “Can you walk or do you need me to carry you?” He asked feeling her trembling in his grasp. Sylvia peeked up at him shyly, embarrassed already by what was going on to even ask. “Can you carry me please?” She whispered raising her arms.

Kirishima didn’t hesitate to lift her and let her attach herself to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and locked her legs around his torso. The walk was quiet, the wind was blowing softly and it was almost peaceful enough for her to fall asleep. Back at the dorms, Sylvia had showered, eaten, and gotten into comfy clothing before getting into bed. Kirishima stayed with her and made sure to she came down from her anxiety high with ease. They currently laid snuggled in Sylvia’s bed with the lights out and the tv playing some movie she wasn’t paying attention to.
