Hello! I just saw your post about Byleth's personal class translated as "Scholar" in Italian, and you seemed a bit confused, so I want to specify that a more literal translation of "Sapiente" would be "Wo/man of Wisdom". Maybe they saw that "sapiente" can be used as a synonym of "erudito", which means "learned person" in English, and landed on "Scholar" as a result. I think that "Sage" would have been a better choice
Ooh!
Thank you!
I guess it conveys, more or less, the same meaning, Promoted!Billy is someone who has received knowledge and wants to teach/guide people with said knowledge!
But I always love to see how differently the translation teams translate a notion in their language, or what is the meaning of those words used, even if I rant a lot about loLcalisation, because when you lol things, you're not even trying to find a substitute or a close notion, you're just making things out of thin air (strong and centralised government was swapped by strong and independent... for reasons only Treehouse knows, I guess).
#anon#replies#maybe sage wouldn't have ringed that well given how the FE series has a class called sage#granted we also had prophets iirc or Saints in RD's 3rd tiers
