#god don’t even get me started on bringing Archie to a country pub

Rambles of Archie spending time at Damien’s farm underneath the cut 🚜🌾👨‍🌾

Kinda dig the idea that once Damien and Archie became friends, Archie offers to fly Damien back to his homestead whenever.

Apart from his military pilot licence, he also has his private pilot licence which he got at 17.

He knew it could be quite tiring for Damien to drive from the city into the country and vice versa (especially when you’re as busy as Damo), so he’s opted to help out. Sometimes even delivering goods.

In return, Damien welcomes Archie to stay over for however long he would like or whenever, giving him some time to unwind and relax. He’s also welcomed to bring Vader too as long as he doesn’t hunt the chooks down 🐓😂

There’s a small waterhole in a field that Archie likes to lay under a tree and read by, until a cow came along and gave him a nasty lick on the head, causing Damien to absolutely lose it laughing.

Vader, who fell asleep on a nearby cow, was awoken when the cow got up and submerged herself into the water. Archie has never heard such a loud, strenuous meow coming out of Vader before jumping onto Damien’s head (who was at the time cooling himself off in the waterhole too.)

There’s also a spare bedroom that Damien lets him stay in. It’s quite spacious, a little too spacious actually. In the corner, there’s boxes of stuff labeled “Dan” that Archie thought belonged to a relative. Unbeknownst to him, that spare bedroom he was staying in was built for Daniel since he practically used to live at the homestead during the holidays. He awkwardly found this out later in a convo with Damien’s sisters, even finding out Daniel’s fate too. He did not know who Daniel was.

Other than just relaxing, Damien tries to teach Archie hand-to-hand combat. After surviving their mission together, Damien noted that it was one of Archie’s biggest weaknesses. Sure he could use a gun but the poor guy could barely throw a punch properly.

“Y’know, you RAAFies outta take a close combat class or two sometime.”

Damien also gets Archie to pick up some farm work from time to time, teaching him the ropes around the place, feeding the animals and harvesting crops. At the end of a long day, he can be found napping on some hay in the cow’s barn with Vader curled up on his chest (he’s had a busy day chasing chickens!)

When Archie isn’t around, Damien’s sisters usually ask him, “when is that pilot friend of yours coming over again?” Sienna (older sister) who’s known to be a tough gal, often pokes fun at Archie but all in good fun. She’ll often share embarrassing memories or photos of Damien which makes his eyes roll as he walks off. Overall, the sisters quite enjoy Archie’s presence even if they found him a little bit shy at first. They like his calming nature compared to Damien’s chaotic one, often shooing him away to hang out with Archie.

Vader: “Meow?”
