LNDS boys reacting to Cupcakke songs
I genuinely love cupcakke so much she is so creative 🫶🏻🩷 my favourite lyrics of hers are "But my cum is Caucasian"
But.. how would the LNDS boys react to her songs??? 😏
SUGGESTIVE - SYLUS, ZAYNE, XAVIER
Mdni
Xavier - Backstage Passes
- "You want me to listen to a song..?" "I think you'll like it Xav!" (you were wrong)
- At first I think he would be internally jamming to be honest. But..
- "O-oh..." Is his only response when she sings "Got my asshole squinting on his dick like it might fuck around and get glasses"
- I think he would get super embarrassed.. the reddest you've ever seen his cheeks 😭
- "I didn't expect this.." once the gagging noises start
- Once you explain it to him a bit he does think it's kinda funny.
- I'm sorry, but I really do think he would get hard? He doesn't know what to think!
Zayne - CPR
-Man is frowning from the start...
- It just doesn't seem like his kind of thing?
- But the fact she's slurping and moaning from the start, he is already SILENT..
- He is so tense and unmoving he might as well be a piece of furniture
- "I save dick by giving it CPR" "But- that's not how cpr-" "shut up nerd"
- He wouldn't laugh, he would look DEFEATED
- "Oh my God Zayne are you SWEATING?" "Yes..."
- If you measured his heart rate you wouldn't hear a fucking thing he's in shock.
- "Okay, I get it now.." "I'm not turning it off."
- As it ends he's just.. frozen in place.
- "Zayne you can breathe.. it's over.." "Please don't do that to me again."
Sylus - Deepthroat
- Mans loves music right..? And ideally I'd like to think he's quite open to discovering different genres / artists, so I don't think he would question if you wanted him to listen to ANYTHING.
- First 17 seconds he looks so focused
- I think he would genuinely break his facade and piss himself laughing the moment the "HUMP MEE FUCK MEEE" starts
-"Mouth wide open like I was at the dentist??" He looks IMPRESSED (HER LYRICS R SO CREATIVE HOW COULDN'T HE BE??)
- He is speechless when she starts moaning, in a good way???
- "I think I like this music" "oh?" "I think I'll get it on vinyl." "NO SYLUS.."
- "Put it so deep I can't speak a sentence" HE WOULD SMIRK IM SORRY
- Turns to look at you SHOCKED when he hears "I ain't swallow one kid I think I swallowed twins!" (He's still laughing though)
- "So, can we go to one of her concerts?" "Anything you want, kitten"
- I think he wouldn't mind listening to the rest of her songs, he seems like he would find this kind of stuff funny?
- Perverted man would probably ask if you showed that to him for certain reasons.. "So, I'm guessing you'd like to recreate all of that..?" "I just wanted you to react to it--"
BONUS: the twins would fucking love it.

DIARY / Dream Log #67 / 05 JUN 2025
I think the hardest drug I ever took was all of Taylor Swift's discography. Because there is no way this boy in my dreams is real. He sounds like fragments of her songs and I swear being a swiftie is finally turning my brain cells delulu.
He's my midnight folklore lover (pun completely intended)
See he's not the breakup songs, no he's the love songs. He's fearless, state of grace, hey stephen, and many others all wrapped in a box of mystery with a bow on too that I can't untie or cut loose.
Of course, I made him up, why else can't I see his face? He's not real, right? He can't be. Something that good in my life doesn't exist. What do I deserve from this kind of love? All I do is hurt the ones I love, so of course he's not real. I'm just delusional. Delusional and lonely as hell.
But at the same time…then why does everything feel like a memory?
[END NOTE]
You decided that you would spend your day at the Avengers Tower penthouse. You don't think you could handle Sam, Bucky, and Dr. Cho teasing you for beaming like an idiot and trying to squeeze it out of you. And you couldn't explain to them how you didn't stay put like you were supposed to. You wondered what they would say if they knew that you kissed him…twice. God forbid Morgan knew too? You would never hear the end of it for at least three months. It was your day off so you didn’t have to worry about random calls since Nika agreed to leave you alone for a while as a way to make up for almost ruining your kiss with Peter.
You could still feel his lips on yours like the ghost of him was left with you when your lips met.
You felt different after the kiss. Good different. You felt lighter like a weight was lifted off of your shoulders and you weren’t sure if it was from the kiss itself or something else. You just knew you were really happy.
You were looking at the timeline FRIDAY had made (and graciously made into the form of a spider web just to fuck with you) and sighed. You wish you could remember everything you were with Peter. It looked like it was lovely…what you guys had before. You wish you could make yourself remember but you couldn’t.
But things started to feel more familiar than before and you couldn't really explain it. After the first kiss, it was like your body remembered him. Kissing him felt familiar but foreign in a good way.
You knew Peter was the faceless boy in your dreams, with no doubt. Especially because he never denied it. You both would beat around the bush about confirming it with the fear of it hurting you even though you were the one to push for answers more than he was. Hell, you're the one who had to find him.
You eyed the timeline and took a deep breath. "FRIDAY, archive the timeline."
After that, you went to the music room where you kept all of your guitars. You were in the mood to play and sing your little happy heart out. You didn't have a lot of guitars but you did have a collection of them that you loved and cherished. You had the first one you ever got which was a regular wooden brown acoustic one that you practiced on all the time. It was filled with stickers on the back of it to give it personality. You still remember how painful your fingers would feel after four hours of practice every day. There was a black one that your dad got you after you mastered playing the first song that you were learning. It was your favorite one for a while until you got your red one. You remember being afraid of using it because you were worried that it would break in your hands. It was precious to you and you didn’t want to mess it up.
It was one of the ones Taylor Swift used on her Red tour.
It was a gift from your beloved Spidey for your birthday. He used his Spidey status and sent Taylor a letter asking if she could wish you a happy birthday. He didn’t expect a response from her, but a week later she did. After a conversation between your favorite hero and your favorite singer, you were met with a beautifully written birthday letter with tickets to her concert and a Polaroid picture of her and her three cats, a video of her singing Happy Birthday, and two signed red guitars, one electric and the other acoustic. The red electric guitar was hung on the wall in your bedroom with the Polaroid framed next to it. The acoustic one took you a week to even use. You remember crying with happiness on and off for three hours when you got it.
Apparently, without knowing, he had saved her once and she wanted to thank him in some way and he chose that to cash in.
You smiled as you picked it up and looked at it for a long, loving moment before turning to grab your notebook. You walked down the stairs and into the living room, plopped down on the couch, and set the guitar next to you as you opened your notebook. You flipped through the pages and looked at the notes, lyrics, doodles, scratched-out, aggressively circled, and underlined words, and tear stains that filled the pages.
The entire notebook was dedicated to him. The Faceless Boy. Peter Parker.
You don’t know why you bound so much of your emotions about him along the white pages and you couldn’t tell if it was a way to clear your mind or if it was a way to heal. Maybe both.
You decided that you were going to stop forcing yourself to remember him and just enjoy the time you’re spending with him and appreciate the new memories you’ll be making with him. One’s that hopefully won’t be erased from your mind this time. Will he ever tell you what even happened? Maybe not and you still hadn’t decided if you were okay with that, but in due time, hopefully, he will be honest with you.
You landed on a page that you remember fresh in your mind because you had only written one thing on the page, and it was three weeks ago when you wrote it.
A single thread ties me to you and yet not a single memory clicks. Are there clues I didn’t see?
It wasn’t the first time you wrote a poetic line in this notebook about the faceless boy, and it wasn’t the first time a poetic line became a fully fleshed-out song. And this moment of inspiration that you had didn’t make anything different. Maybe it was because you were still giddy from the night before.
So you grabbed a pen, picked up your guitar, and began writing and strumming your little heart out.
My sweet boy…
Those three words rang through Peter’s mind for the rest of the night until he fell asleep. And then he dreamt of all the times you called him that before.
He knew you didn’t remember him, that was clear. But something happened when you guys kissed. He knew you felt it because he felt it, and he felt you feel it. On top of that, you didn’t feel any pain from it. And then when you called him my sweet boy…
He nearly lost his mind.
So when Peter woke up, he felt determined. He made a decision that he should have made weeks ago. Really it should have been five years ago.
He was going to tell you everything. And nothing could and would stop him.
So he got up and got into the shower. He spent an ungodly amount of time in there trying to figure out what he was going to say and how to react to any of the possible reactions you would have. After that, he got out and forced himself to eat something before grabbing his backpack and pulling out from under his bed the suitcase full of the things he took from your room instead of telling you everything right then and there. He had his reasons, but he was beginning to second-guess them. He opened the suitcase to check and make sure everything was in there. When that was done, he set the stuff he was taking with him on the bed.
He put on his spider suit, the one you made for him all those years ago, and put his backpack over his shoulders. He made sure the suitcase was locked and secured so nothing would fall out. He thinks he would actually die if that happened. He picked it up and went to hurry out before he backtracked.
He glanced over at the silver spider necklace sitting on his end table.
He chewed his lip. He wants to give it to you so badly, but…he wanted it to be another special moment when he did give it back to you.
So he left it there and hurried out of the apartment window.
Once, he made it onto the roof of the building, he called you. But it went to voicemail. No doubt, you were taking a break from work today. So just to be sure he called your office number.
"Stark Industries," Nika chimed in a customer service voice.
"Hey, Nika. It's Peter,"
"Ah, Avenger Lover Boy,” Her voice went back to normal. “What can I do you for?"
He blushed under his mask at the nickname. "Is (Y/N) there today?"
"Yep, she's up in the penthouse-"
"Cool! I'll be there in like…fifteen minutes."
“Oh?” she asked with obvious cheekiness in her tone. “Making a grand gesture? You better be bringing flowers.”
“She doesn’t do bouquets,” Peter stated. “She prefers going to see the flowers in their natural state. Better for the environment in her eyes.”
Nika hummed in amusement. “You pay attention. Good. See you in a few.”
And with that, she hung up.
He swung from Queens to Manhattan as fast and as carefully as he could and even helped a few people along the way. When he arrived he walked straight into the Avenger’s building. He would’ve swung up to a window and climbed in, but he had no idea how security was and he didn’t wanna risk dropping anything from the highest building in New York City. Again, he thinks he would actually die if that happened. So he let his anxiety win and played it safe by going through the building like a normal person.
He hurried straight for the elevator and impatiently pressed the button as if that would make it come down faster. He tapped his foot on the ground in suspense and waved at different people who walked passed and greeted him. When the doors finally opened, he waited for the people to walk off before hurrying his way inside and aggressively clicking buttons again.
Before the door could close, a hand stopped it from doing so.
Peter looked to see Nika step inside and give him a straight-faced nod as she pressed the button for the door to close. She glanced at him without saying anything and then scanned her eye. There was a long silence as the elevator went up and it honestly made Peter uncomfortable.
“You know,” Nika started. “You’re bold for wearing that suit today after that kiss from yesterday.”
Peter looked at her, his mask showing that his eyes widened.
“I’ll make sure the top floor is on lockdown from anyone else.”
“Nika…” Peter replied as his face burned under his mask when he realized what she was implying.
“Relax, I’m messing with you,” she smirked at him. “You’re so tense right now. Lighten up, dude.”
He took a deep breath and shook it out a little. He was extremely tense. He was about to tell you everything that you should’ve been told years ago.
Once the elevator stopped, she spoke again.
"Good Luck, Peter Parker,” she smiled and walked off and gave him a salute.
"Th-thank you," Peter replied and the elevator closed again and went up.
He took another nervous breath. “Alright, Peter, you got this. No backing down.”
When the doors opened he hurried in to find you, but he stopped when he heard the sound of a guitar coming from the conference room. He stopped in his tracks when he realized that it was you playing your guitar. He slowly walked over to the staircase walked up quietly and kept his distance.
He stopped when he saw you, dressed in a pair of black joggers, a black fitted sleeveless crop top, and a long black cardigan that was falling off one shoulder. You had your stark specs on and you wiggled your bare toes and you strummed the red guitar that he recognized all too well. You were facing the window and he could see your reflection through it but he was just out of view to where you couldn’t see his. He smiled under his mask. He missed watching you play.
But the minute you started singing, his heart nearly stopped.
Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
Peter remembered when you told him that there were days when you would go to this park and read a book. Sometimes you still went when you needed to clear your mind. Although you were proud to be a Stark, it was a bit of a heavy thing to have on your shoulders at such a young age. So to get away from everything, you would take a book, go to Centennial Park, and escape into worlds that were different from yours. He remembered how you told him that you always hoped to meet eyes with somebody there and fall in love with them.
That’s not exactly how it happened with the two of you, but you always said it was better than your little fantasy.
Blue was the color of your shirt
When you were sixteen at the deli shop
You used to go when you had a little money
He recalled the first time you went to his place with Celina. You all had a project you were working on and he took you to Delmar’s deli shop to get some food.
Time, curious time
Gave me no compasses, gave me no signs
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Peter realized the song was about your memories of him in your dreams.
Bad was the blood of the vibes in the flight
On your trip to Germany
You ate at my favorite spot for dinner
Bold was the waitress on our three-day trip
Getting lunch in Saxony
She said I looked like an American sweetheart
He remembered that day. The first time you guys met as Spiderheroes.
Time, mystical time
Cuttin' me open, then healin' me fine
Are there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
He leaned against the wall and listened to you continue to sing.
A string that pulled me
Out of all the wrong arms right into the right heart
Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire
Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons
One web of silk and gold tied me to you
Peter smiled as he listened to your melodic and poetic words.
Cold was the steel of my axe to grind
For the ones who broke my heart
Now I live life in the present.
Gold is the color of the leaves
When I'll show you around Centennial Park
Hell, what a journey but it brought me heaven
He looked forward to when you took him to your safe place. Again.
Time, wondrous time
Gave me the blues and then purple-pink skies
And it's cool, darling, with me
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
You finished the song, let out a breath of relief, and drummed your nails on the guitar gently before setting it down next to you and picking up your notebook. Then you paused and Peter knew why. You sensed him and your eyes widened as you whipped your head around to look for him.
Now’s your chance, he thought, taking off his mask and walking into view.
"Peter…!" You chimed as you set down your notebook and got off the table. “I didn’t know you were coming.”
Peter pressed his lips together. Here goes nothing. Actually, it’s everything. "(Y/N)...I have something to tell you."
"Okay…" you responded gingerly as you crossed your arms over yourself with your brows pulled together with a concerned look on your face. You must have sensed his nervousness.
Peter walked over to the table throwing his backpack down and setting the suitcase on the table. He quickly fiddled with the latches, forced them open, and then turned it towards you. You looked at it to see a scrapbook, picture frames, polaroids, and other items that you recognized from…your dreams. Your eyes widened.
"Peter…?" You looked up at him wondrously.
"I know Ghost Stories is your favorite Coldplay album and Lover is your favorite Taylor Swift album.”
You looked at him confused.
“I know you can't get a night of proper sleep unless you drink a cup of tea mixed with milk and honey and you need something to hold while sleeping, specifically, Starky, your wolf plush that you named after your family and the Starks from Game of Thrones. I know your favorite character from Game of Thrones is Lyanna Stark because of the quote 'You saw her beauty but not the iron underneath' from the books and that's the meaning of the blue roses on your tattoo. You also asked Steve to help you with the drawing years ago.”
Your expression turned to shock as you kept looking at him frozen.
“I know that you hate messy spaces and people handing you things because your dad was the same way. I know that you have to pet every cat you come across and that you like dark content and media because it reminds you of who and what you're fighting for and you fear being so out of touch with reality because you're extremely privileged.”
You blink rapidly as you process what is happening at the moment.
“I know that you love playing the guitar and you write songs. It's like your diary where you can properly express yourself because you wish your life was a musical because you're secretly a theater nerd. And you love Hamilton and Six. And Disney movies. And you love listening to the SMASH soundtrack. It’s one of the things you were shy about telling anyone about.”
You press your lips together as your expression softened and your eyes glossed over.
“I know that you love movies and that you have a huge crush on Anakin Skywalker, which I always found concerning by the way. Like…everyone finds that concerning. Ned and I had a conversation about it yesterday. You also hate the recent Star Wars trilogy but you continue to hate-watch it with me because it's something that we did together and as long as we were together, you didn't care what we watched.”
You sniffled softly, listening to him go on.
“I know that you love cold weather because you love the feeling of it on your skin because it reminds you that you're alive and human. You love Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare because you love Shakespeare's humor and Poe's dark romanticism. And although you deeply despise magic you love a good fantasy novel. And your book boyfriends are Draco Malfoy and Aaron Warner. And I'm not getting any further into that because I should not be this jealous of fictional characters.”
You let out a choked laugh.
“You have sensory sensitivity so you hate loud noises, bright lights, and feeling things on your hands. And it only worsened when you gained these spider powers that we share.”
You nodded softly and put a hand over your mouth to keep in your sob that was threatening to escape.
“(Y/N),” He walked up to you and gently cradled your face as his own eyes glossed over. “ We….we were in love....deeply and truly and I...fucked it all up and I still don't know if I regret it or not because you have grown into this amazing and beautiful person that I am still in love with....deeply and truly. And five years is a long time I know but...I wanted you to live your life without having to worry about me and be able to focus on yourself.”
He chewed on his bottom lip for a second like he was deciding on his next words carefully.
“When your dad died ...I could tell that you would have been in a really dark place if I wasn't there to help distract you from it. And you know what? It was the same for me too. But we never really worked through it on our own. We became each other's distractions. And I wanted to come to you five years ago, but I made the impulsive decision to let you go so you could heal, grow, and explore life I know that's not a decision I should make for you and I'm so sorry, (Y/N/N), I'm so, so, so, so sorry-"
You couldn’t take it anymore and you grabbed his face and kissed him deeply and passionately before he could continue babbling. Peter froze a moment but then matched the energy of your kiss as his arms wrapped around your waist pulling you closer to him.
The kiss was much more desperate but just as passionate as the day before. And there was no one here to interrupt you. It was just the two of you and your passion running wild for each other.
Peter wouldn’t have it any other way.
You pulled back for a moment and he chased the kiss instinctively not wanting to part just yet. He looked at you with hooded eyes and you both catching your breath because you both forgot that breathing during a kiss is essential.
You smiled softly and leaned your forehead on his as said barely in a whisper. "You finally admit you’re the faceless boy,” you sniffled as you met his gaze. “Idiot. You could’ve told me sooner that you’re the guy in my dreams..."
“I’m sorry…” Peter blushed and gulped softly before asking, "Can I also be the guy in your reality?"
You giggled. “There you go flirting again.”
“And I’m still being serious,” he smirked softly.
You caught your bottom lip between your teeth as your smile grew. “About damn time you asked me.”
Peter smiled that charming smile you loved so much as he tasted your lips again and your senses continued to bloom within the both of you.
You had so many questions and Peter was expecting that. He was honest and didn't hide anything from you when you asked.
He started by explaining everything that happened and why nobody could remember him.
You repeated it back to him to clarify that you heard everything correctly.
"I'm not sure what pisses me off more, honestly."
"I think all of it pisses you off."
"You're right, it does. And you tried to get everyone to forget that you were Spiderman but you accidentally messed up Strange's spell and it caused a tear in the multiverse? And there were other Peter Parkers? And their villains were here? Wait, did you say Norman Osborn killed your Aunt May?!"
"Not our Norman Osborn," Peter explained. "Ours hasn't done anything yet. I've been keeping an eye on him."
You rubbed your temple and took a deep breath. "That's a lot to process. I think I hate magic again."
After that, he showed you all of the things in the suitcase. He started with the scrapbook that you both made together. It had a red cover and black pages that were filled with drawings, cute words, and pictures of the two of you. The front of it read "Our Story."
There was a tic tac toe game page that read "You Won My Heart" where you both were bored one day and played a game of tic tac toe. You put hearts over each winning line and taped it nicely into the scrapbook. There was another page that read "Our Soundtrack" with different songs written under it. The page was filled with music-themed doodles. Some pages marked your firsts and different highlighting events and you took it all in as you flipped through the pages.
Peter was leaning his head on your shoulder as he also looked at each page. He has looked over this scrapbook on his loneliest days and he memorized it front to back.
He half expected you to say something witty like "We're so cringe for this" or "This is so corny but I kinda love it" but you didn't. You were studying it with soft eyes as you ran your fingers over different parts of the pages and smiled softly. Sometimes you would ask a question about a certain page and Peter would answer.
You came across a page that read "Things I love about Peter" with a list.
"Hmm let's see if this still stands," you teased. "One, pretty smile: true. Two, genius: also true. Three, Kind-hearted: very true. Four, Short King: also very true and adorable. Five, nerdy and geeky: love that. Six, hair: agreed." You skimmed down the rest of the list. "Wow, you're literally my type."
Peter smiled smugly. "I know."
You giggled in response. "Confidence is sexy on you."
"I thought I was conceited?"
"It's different, you're my boyfriend now."
His heart fluttered at that.
"I mean, I'm no Aaron Warner or anything." He teased.
You rolled your eyes playfully.
"Let me explain something to you," you tapped his forehead. "What I like in fantasy and what I like IRL are two different things. In fantasy, I like the dark, brooding bad boys because they're written by women. They're meant to cater to my deep and dark desires personified into my fictionalized self. In real life, I like guys like you. The sweet-hearted cuties from the start." You smiled at him as he looked at you. "So don't worry yourself over men who don't exist. Especially Anakin Skywalker. The actor was just cute and I have a thing for masks."
"Trust me, I know."
You giggled softly and turned the page where it was a list called "Things I Love About (Y/N)". You paused and looked at it.
"Let's see if this still stands," Peter stated with a playful tone. "One, prettiest girl in the world: yep. Two, outspoken and not afraid to stand up to bullies: very true. Three, genius: also true. Four: hard exterior, soft interior: eh, you softened up. More approachable now. "
You snorted in response.
"Five, geek, weeb: still true. Six, talented: extremely true. Shall I keep going?"
You giggled. "You're making my teeth hurt."
"You have phenomenal dental health, you'll live."
You threw your head back and laughed before looking at him. He was looking at you lovingly. You pressed your lips together and looked at the scrapbook shyly.
"Thank you," you started. "For telling me everything."
You felt his presence closer to you and looked back at him to see his face inches away from yours. You met his gaze before he leaned in to kiss you deeply and you responded by kissing back and closing your eyes. His hand softly landed on your cheek and he could feel the warmth of your face and the feeling of love and something else through his senses. you set the scrapbook off to the side and moved yourself to sit facing him as you both deepened the kiss.
He pulls back after a moment.
"Sorry," he said lowly. "I…I just had to make sure that this is real…that you're real."
“I should be the one saying that,” you grinned. “I’ve been the one with dreams.”
“Touche.”
You giggled in response and kissed him again.
You both spent most of the day in and watching movies as you cuddled on the couch. You lent him a pair of joggers and a Joy Division band tee shirt to wear instead of him walking around in his spider suit. You guys ordered pizza and tacos and then went back to watching whatever you guys felt like watching. Peter was lying back on the couch while you were lying on top of him with your head on his chest and your legs entangled together. His hand would stroke your back lightly every once in a while and it lulled you to sleep a couple of times. That, and the sound of his heartbeat in your ears.
"(Y/N)," Peter called to you softly.
Your eyes fluttered open and noticed that the movie you guys were watching had ended. You looked up sleepily at Peter who was smiling down at you.
"Hm?" You hummed in question.
Cute, he thought. "I have to go patrol."
"Huh?" You asked and looked at the time. Five Thirty. "Jeez. I didn't realize…"
"It's okay," he kissed your forehead longingly for a moment and you closed your eyes at the feeling. "I can come back after."
You pout and then shove your face back into his firm chest. You didn't want him to leave.
"No."
Peter chuckled and wrapped his arms around you. "Okay, princess, no more pouting."
He knew pet names like that are your weakness. He could feel the heat of your face on his chest and he smirked.
"Princess," he sang.
"Stop," you whined into his chest shyly while the heat on your face widened which caused Peter to laugh softly.
"You know," Peter started. "You could come with me. People miss you, y'know. Silk and Spidey, Spidey and Silk. I get asked about you a lot."
You sighed and slowly sat up to where you were sitting in his lap. He wrapped his arms around you instinctively as you leaned your head on his shoulder "I…don't do that anymore."
You knew that people wondered what happened to some of the Avengers, and you were one of them that people often wondered about, especially since Spiderman was still out there protecting the little guy.
But one day you just stopped and people wondered what happened to the beloved spiderhero.
"I meant to ask,” Peter started as he looked at you. “Why did you stop?"
You looked at Peter and chewed your lip nervously. Many reasons made you hang up the suit but there were some that really caused you to stop. And you really didn’t want to talk about it.
"Well, for one, I wanted to help Pepper raise Morgan. Two, I have to focus on the company. And Three," you closed your eyes as you thought of the chapter in your life that you never wanted to speak of ever again. "I…made some big mistakes. I…hurt people in…so many different ways and I just don't see myself as a hero anymore because of it. When I was needed most, I let everyone around me down.” You took another deep sigh. ”Not much of a hero thing to do."
Flashes of the past enter into your mind and Peter could feel the guilt, pain, and fear of your senses stirring within him. It was strong and he didn't like it. Something told him there was more to the story but he didn't want to pry. Instead, he kissed your forehead comfortingly.
"Sometimes even the greatest of heroes make the biggest of mistakes."
"I doubt that," you replied. “I kind of like…really fucked up.”
“The fact that you feel guilty about it shows that you aren’t a bad person,” he began. "Do you remember when you first got your powers and what the first thing you did was?"
You remember that day clearly like it happened yesterday.
"I saved a van full of women and girls from getting kidnapped."
"Yeah,” Peter smiled. “ Still in your ballet outfit. Bright pink with your makeshift mouth mask that you quickly made out of your extra pair of leggings.”
You looked up at him.
“It went viral on YouTube and TikTok,” he continued. “You didn't hesitate a second."
You looked at your hands and played with your fingers.
Peter kept going. "You said in your expo speech. With great power comes great responsibility.
"My dad told me that when I was little," you replied with a small smile. “‘Where there is great power there is great responsibility, where there is less power there is less responsibility, and where there is no power there can, I think, be no responsibility’ said by Winston Churchill. And ‘the more privilege you have, the more opportunity you have. The more opportunity you have, the more responsibility you have said by Noam Chomsky,” You raised your hands and looked at your fingertips, where your webs come from. “He told me to focus on the line that resonated with me the most and it was ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ and I’ve tried to live my life by that ever since.”
Ah, Pete thought as he ran a hand through his curls. “Aunt May told me that exact same thing moments before she died."
You looked at him vaguely remembering him telling you that once before. A vague memory flashed in your mind of you holding a crying Spiderman in your arms alongside Ned, MJ, and Celina in the pouring rain. The memory brought a frown to your face.
"When you have this power and then the bad things happen, then it's on us. You knew that immediately. Whether it stemmed from a hero complex or whatever, doesn’t matter. You understood that you had a responsibility. I had to learn it the hard way. And it cost my Uncle Ben’s life."
You looked up at him sadly and a bit of shock in your expression. You felt the guilt and sadness flowing through him.
He continued.
"You're a hero, (Y/N), even when you think you aren't good enough to be one,” he leaned his forehead on yours. “And you'll always be a hero to me."
Your heart swelled at his words and you pressed your lips together. “You always know the right things to say.”
“And I mean every word.”
You smiled and pecked his lips softly and he pecked yours back before you removed yourself from his lap so he could get up.
“Thank you,” you smiled. “I’ll be waiting here for you when you get back.”
He nodded in response. “Okay.”
He got up, got changed, and walked out onto the launched pad for when your dad would put on the Iron suit. You walked out with him as you wrapped your cardigan around your shoulders.
He turned and looked back at you with his mask in his hands. His eyes glistened in the sunset as the wind danced through his curls softly. He smiled softly at you.
“See you later?”
“Mhm,” you responded with a smirk. “Actually show up on time this time, yeah? Because if I have to go looking for you again after another five years I’ll-”
“Kick my ass into another dimension?”
You squint your eyes at him suspiciously. “Yeah…”
“You told me that before,” He said with a chuckle. “Five years ago, Statue of Liberty, moments before…the memory blip, as you call it. But I kissed the words out of your mouth.”
You scoffed and crossed your arms over yourself. “Maybe I should act on it.”
“Maybe you should,” Peter teased and put his mask on. “You gotta catch me first.”
“You’re just trying to get me to patrol with you.”
“Maybe,” he sang. “Maybe not. You’ll have to get it out of me.”
“Goodbye, Peter Parker,” you laughed. “Go, before a bank gets robbed or something.”
“Wow, trying to get rid of me? A bit ago you were begging me not to go. I didn’t take you for the wishy-washy type but hey a lot can happen in five years.”
Your jaw dropped in total shock. “You know what-” You began to speed walk towards him with a playful smirk. “Come here, Smartass!”
He laughed as you chased him around the platform before he ran towards the edge and you stopped in front of him slightly out of breath. He lifted his mask to reveal the bottom half of his face and he kissed your cheek and your face burned once again like it had been doing all day.
“I’ll come back on time, I promise.”
“You better,” you smiled at him. “Now go be a hero.”
He smiled back at you. “And you continue being mine.”
Your face softened as your heart beamed and he turned and jumped off the platform and swung across the city.

bananas for you 🍌 || s. jake
•synopsis: y/n didn't really enjoy science but her crush did. and a silly experiment on bananas might help her with said crush
•genre: oneshot, y/n x jake, highschool au, written (0,5k words) and screenshots
Science was not y/n’s favorite subject. But indeed it was jakes.
Obviously, like a normal teenage girl at school, since her crush liked one subject, she had to like it too. And she also liked having good grades, so studying wasn’t that. Either way, if she ever failed the subject she could ask Jake to tutor her. But that was her secret plan b.
Today was a very fun day, because it was lab-day. They would be doing some type of experiment related to the dna, the topic they were learning lately.
The teacher caught your attention “Ok class, today we are going to extract DNA from bananas” the whole class let out a little gasp, excited to be doing something different than usual.
“But before that, let’s have a brief introduction. Did you know that all bananas share the same dna? They are all clones! and there’s only one type of banana that is eaten in the entire world! That's why they are always endangered: if they get infected by a parasite, they risk extinction. that already happened in the 50s: your great grandparents probably ate a different kind of banana that doesn’t exist anymore because it was infected by the parasite of panama. And it’s possible that we won’t have bananas in 50 years” the teacher explained
“Ok now i’ll make small groups of 4 people to do the experiment”
He made the groups and you ended up with Danielle, your best friend, Heeseung and Jake. jake. your crush. This was going to be fun.
The first step was to take a banana and smash it very well until it was basically liquid.
“Smash the banana” said Heeseung to Jake
“But maybe the girls want to do it. y/n do you want to do it” Jake said
“I don’t but I know Danielle and she can’t wait to do it.” You responded with a smile and gave Danielle a funny look. your best friend seemed very happy that you mentioned that. She quickly took the spoon and started smashing the banana. Heeseung in the meantime, was taking videos to make a report later on.
“Do you know what she is saying?” asked Jake, close to your ear so you were the only one that heard the question. she was referencing to danielle, who was still smashing the banana, while also singing quietly the same part of a song
“Chulo.” you responded
“What?” asked the boy
“Chulo, that one reggaeton song that is really catchy”
“Oh my god I love that song actually” he said smiling fondly. his smile was so pretty that it almost made you mad
“Do you also like reggaeton?” you asked surprised, since he didn’t look like the type of guy to listen to that kind of music.
“Yeah I actually do, surprisingly. You do too, right?”
“Yeah, it fills me with energy, especially in the morning when i don’t feel like getting out of bed” you admitted
“Y/n, we should go to that one cafè place that only puts reggaeton together after school” Jake proposed with a small smile
“That is such a good idea, I can't wait” you responded, blushing.
The experiment was long forgotten

Construção a Personal Analysis
youtube
Brazil has always been great at hiding protest from censorship in harmony and nostalgic beats. My favorite artist who is famous for his songs of this sort is Chico Buarque I believe he is 77 years old.
This is a song made 52 years ago by Chico Buarque. From my research, at the time there was a military dictatorship in Brazil going on and heavy censorship was pushed down upon the slightest critiques, just as it's seen in many dictatorships in history. I put the video with the English subtitles in this post. It's a shame that a language can never be truly translated since the tone of voice and vocabulary along with intentions can't be understood with just words, leaving only the native speakers to enjoy.
Anyway, the same story is told 3 times but with different words being used at the end of each sentence. There are also a lot of metaphors which reminded me of the Bible and the time some of the books were being written. Because like before censorship was rough so almost anything needed a metaphor that people could understand but not get in trouble for writing. The song is a social critique that much a listener can get from just one listen.
"Amou daquela vez como se fosse a ultima." This line one of the lines that gets repeated and altered. The first time is saying that the man loved his wife as if it were the last time he'd ever love. It's also told that he kissed his sons as if they where the only ones paying attention to each of them. I won't repeat and explain every line for that is extremely tedious. But you can get an idea of what the story in the song attempts to convey.
The background music and orquestra plays a huge role on how a listener may perceive the story since it starts out calm and catchy but at the climax of the story A.K.A the workers death it suddenly gets quiet and erupts to a loud noise of various instruments that, for some, makes you really feel how the situation is plating out. The man dies in in the public sidewalk and it's described as "atrapalhando" The death of the man is bothering, annoying, agonizing the public that's there to watch a drunken desensitized worker. And the background noise translates this feeling to the listener even when there is a language barrier you can just feel the urgency.
I want to jump to my favorite part that's near the end that comes after the climax of all the three repeated stories "Morreu na contramao atrapalhando o sabado" (I apologize for the lack of any accents.) After this the critiques become obvious and the background noise keeps the feeling found at the end of the stories, and there is no longer one single calm voice but three I believe correct me if there are more. They all sing in union.
The lyrics thank a higher power for simple things such as a floor to sleep and bread. What got my attention was the thanking for the privilege to smile. "A concessao pra sorrir" The singer views something like smiling, which everyone is entitled to in their lives, as a privileged. "Por me deshar respirar, por me deixhar existir." One can really notice how such simple things that should be something you get along with life are thanked for. "Deus Lhe Pague." This line is what I struggled with understanding. Are they really thanking the Christian God or are they thanking an entity who has power over them such as say, a politician. But it could just be me and my hurry to find meaning in everything.
I really recommend giving it a listen and making your own opinion of it. The genre is really worth it especially the artist so if you do decide to dig down to Brazilian music and history I'll be really glad if it started with me. Sorry for rambling so much about 5 word sentences.

✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?
And these! Okay I'm done 😅😅 Sorry for bombarding you XD
✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
Oooh yeah, I do. Absolutely. I can't think of other lyrics at this moment (curse you momentarily forgetfulness XD). But here's this one.
"When the fire's burnt, when the wind has blown, when the waters dried, you'll still find stone. My heart of stone." Heart of Stone from SIX: The Musical
This whole song is Poppy. But this quote right here explains her character the best in my opinion. Despite all she's been through, not only has she persevered, but her heart remains good. She hasn't become bitter or evil, she still holds her own morals despite living in an environment that's against her, and she's healing from her trauma. She may not feel like she's strong, but she is in the way that matters the most.
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?
Since this is the forties, Poppy listens to whatever comes on the radio XD (maybe in the modern era she'd create a CD with her favorite songs?) I can see her wanting different genres based on what she wants to do; a softer, smoother song if she wanted something to listen to while relaxing or reading, or a more upbeat song when she wants to dance in her living room. So Poppy likes her music the same way she likes her drinks; variety XD
(I've also crack-headcannoned that she'd be a fan of rock/metal. She'd be that monster mom from Monsters University 'listening to her tunes' XD)
A particular song I associate for Poppy... Aside from Heart of Stone, I also think of Somewhere that's Green for her. She wants that simple, good life for herself. She wants to make a safe and happy home for herself, where she doesn't have to worry about being robbed in the middle of the night or hear crime happening outside her window. That's her biggest dream at this point in time.
Another song that makes me think of Poppy is Poor Thing from the Sweeny Todd musical. Even though she hasn't been put through that horror, thank God, I can imagine the lyrics referring to her. Especially if she's associated with the weasels. How much of a 'poor fool' she is for trusting any of them, how she had the chance for the moon on a string. And especially the line "They figured she had to be daft, you see, so all of them stood there and laughed, you see?" Nobody laughed at her, but if she mourned her friends' death, the other toons would probably assume she didn't care for the lives lost by their hands, and thus turn their back on her.
Thank you so so much for these asks!!! I loved them all, don't be sorry for flooding my inbox! ^^

Album Reviews #13 - Machina and the Machines of God by The Smashing Pumpkins
Oh boy! What an album! This is one of those unfinished albums that were released in abridged forms or cut into little pieces. I must admit, I do love finding albums like this, to me it feels like a puzzle I can put together, it's so much fun! In this case in particular, there is a lot to unpack here, I will be talking not just about this album, but also Machina II, the reconstruction called Glass and The Machines of God, and the edits I have done myself, so sit down friend, get yourself comfortable.
Hmm, where to start? Well, this band had showed until this point more the ability to showcase lots of styles and genres associated with the alternative scene of the 90s, but if we are talking about moods, I feel we can summarize what this band has done until this point in two, the bittersweet, naive and energetic sound explored in their first three albums, and the dark, broody mood of Adore. I can't really say how this works, since I haven't been there, but I get the impression that they gained an audience with the former kind of sound I mentioned, to the fans, Smashing Pumpkins was about coming of age, about thinking you are the hot shit, to suffer goodbyes and to heal in an environment you feel it's always changing.
When Adore came out in 1998, it was a significant departure in not just their previous sound but also their mood. We can always talk about how much affected this the reception of the record another day, but what I want to mention is that this album showed the band's will to explore that romanticism of pain in different ways, not just in a bittersweet, energetic and uplifting angle but also in a wistful, depressing one. Personally, while I didn't enjoy several of the songs in the album, I found that new side of them personally great. Adore also had some troubles in the production, there are tracks with guest drummers and tracks that use more of a drum machine, but I loved a lot of what it had to offer. The sound is something I also like and can be really dance ready, if done well, you can get completely submerged in that kind of vibe. But anyway, the new century turned around and the drummer came back, so now we have our drummer back again. This allowed the band to showcase again that kind of prowess and energy in their songs one more time.
So, what does all this mean for Machina? Well basically, Machina is a combination of everything that the band had worked before so far, in a way its a culmination of their 90s period all in one big meaty… chopped off package. I am going to mention most of the characteristics of the album, and if you pay attention, you will notice that while a lot of songs explore the TSP sound in new and different paths, some of them also break that ethos that made them famous, which might explain a bit the shift in sales (aside the fact that the cultural eye was moving onto other things as well). In my opinion, this album didn't really fail. Every fan of the band I hear talks pretty fondly of this record. Half a million copies is as many copies as De-Loused in the Comatorium sold, and if you know bands like The Birthday Massacre you will understand that there is an audience for Goth-inspired and Industrial Rock influenced Alternative Rock bands. These guys are still making music to this very day with that style, and they still rock. But oh well, if you want each one of your records to sell 10 million copies, you still want each one of your records to sell 10 million copies, so whatever….
First, we have the more of that wistful sound (Raindrops + Sunshowers, The Sacred and the Profane, In My Body) closer to the dance-goth that we heard in Adore with songs like Daphne Descends or my absolute favorite in that album Appels + Oranjes. The "goth" mood is something you can also trace back to bands like The Cure, the thing is that more than making the emotional palette more varied, it makes it more homogeneous and subdued, we don't get crazy triumphant epics like Through the Eyes of Ruby or those poetic anthems like Muzzle, but we have the angry, rash moments with that energy and prowess (Cash Car Star, White Spyder, Glass Theme, Dross, Lucky 13), we have the bittersweet attitude (Stand Inside Your Love, The Everlasting Gaze), the melancholic and poignant phases (Let Me Give the World to You, Speed Kills but Beauty Lives Forever), and now we also get moments that also feel like are just plain ominous (The Crying Tree of Mercury, Blue Skies Bring Tears, Glass and the Ghost Children), with Glass and The Ghost Children being my favorite since it shows a certain level of complicity with disaster. Another change that came to be was that the happier songs can feel like they hold some yearning into them (Wound, The Imploding Voice, Real Love, I of the Mourning, This Time, Age of Innocence), rather than being impertinent or bold. This kind of longing in happy pop music is something that you can see in pop albums made by "goth" bands as well like for example, The Head on the Door. The impertinence in the other hand takes more a low-brow, almost cynical attitude (Heavy Metal Machine) without being straight energetic or explosive. There are also a few tracks that are plain dreamy and full of hope (Innosense, Home).
Okay, point taken, if there is one sort of element that Machina does not have compared their previous works is the sonic diversity like you could see in Mellon Collie, there is no standalone track that… let's say, use strings and a whole orchestra, or pop hits using synthesizer loops, in this regard, Machina is more like Siamese Dream or like Gish, mostly the live band set, lots of pedals and studio trickery. This curiously enough makes the album sound even more homogeneous than even before, and added to the fact that the emotional palette has a bit more of a subtle pattern here, it might make it seem that Machina has a lot less to offer to the listener, but in my humble opinion, Machina has a lot of strengths, they are just in another place.
What exactly are the strengths of Machina? In short, Machina is cyber-goth, and is flowsteady. Allow me now to explain these each side by side. Cyber-goth refers basically to the two main qualities of the album, its sound and its mood. This album is absolutely bonkers in its sound design, it is noisy as hell and everything about the mixing feels like an attack on the listener. Now, I know that a lot of people will get turned off by this, a lot of people will prefer the guitar tone of Siamese Dream or something less "overproduced" but personally I love the way this album was mixed in. I really, really love music that is overwhelming, and that extends to its sound as well, the sound of this record has a futuristic, cybernetic edge to it, dipping not only more into the Shoegaze leanings that were in some of their previous songs but also Industrial Rock, which is a very interesting change of pace compared the previously Grunge based songs in their catalogue. I am personally very icky with what people call Gothic Rock, and I am pretty sure that we could spend a whole afternoon talking about it if you wanted, but anyway, long story short, I do feel the Goth in this album, it is not that goth of the haunted and the occult, but that goth of the melancholic and sombre. This is the kind of music that I call mistmourne. The fact that is not just goth but cyber-goth gives the album a very unique sound, goth might be associated more with the past or with fantasy, but giving it such a futuristic paint to it works wonderfully because just as there is so much for us to regret and get sad about in the past, there is a lot for us to fret and feel despair for in the future, this makes that "futuristic but melancholic" sad work so well, because it is a kind of sound that doesn't just put you in a state of mind but it also takes you to its own world with its imagery and atmosphere.
Atmosphere and imagery are really good in the record itself. This is something that Mellon Collie did pretty well in its non grunge tracks and it worked very well in its favor. In this album, it works just as well, what this album lacked is just proper marketing about the world it was giving. Like… Machina? What? The Machines of God? Double what? What the hell are you about? That sounds so nerdy, and so so lame! And that artwork, what is it even supposed to represent? Why is it so religious? We were talking about our coming of ages the previous albums and now it feels that like you are throwing us out for a loop with all the marketing associated for this record. Mellon Collie got this right too, in its artwork, front and centered, a collage in a vintage style and a slightly cheesy but romantic title, it gives you at the very least a distinct sensation of the kind of world the album wants to paint to you. The concept overall is really convoluted and probably not really relatable or easy to sell. It is about a self parody of the band itself and the music industry and all that stuff, but there is religion symbols and Deus Ex Machina references… screw that noise! Mellon Collie didn't even have a set up story or rock opera, it was simply an album with a very simple, and very relatable idea: the pain and excitement you go through in a period full of changes in your life. Siamese Dream had similar ideas, but it explored even further the euphoria of gaining control and the sorrow caused for your own naivety. But anyway, regardless of marketing, the horrible artwork or names the album has, I can guarantee, its sound and its emotional reach are really really good.
The other side of the spectrum is… that this album is flowsteady… Yep, that's it. If you want to know exactly what it is you can read my whole Back to Times of Splendor review, but the short version is that a song that is flowsteady is a song that has a steady flow… no wait let me try again, imagine the flow as the amount of water that comes from a faucet, if this amount of water is always the same, if the life of the song stays the same way through the whole song with no breaks or big tempo or energy changes, that song is flowsteady. I had mentioned this and made a whole definition on it because in that album it was so incredible that the songs were so progressive and charged while still keeping the flow steady, it made the music feel really immersive and kinetic. Thing is that to keep a steady flow you do not need to do much, you can keep a similar tempo, a similar beat, you know, dance songs, chill jam rock songs, lo-fi hip hop, acid jazz, all those type of songs focus in keep a steady flow, sometimes even a steady beat, but in most other genres you do not necessarily have to do that, you can have a flow for the chorus and other for the verses, it is nothing really weird or different, it just a pleasant sensation you can pursue if you are writing music. Now, if you are focusing in making music that is flowsteady, everything about songwriting can change for you, you can make really boring songs that do not change or never go too crazy, songs that just exist and kinda get the job done, or you can make background music, something chill and relaxing, or… you cannot do that and try to develop all your emotions in that environment. Remember, if you are writing songs of this kind, you are treating the music like water coming our from a faucet, you can't turn or move the knob on it, you have to work with the that constant stream of energy, of life, or emotion, and work with it, develop the music so it grows healthily in the environment it is in. When you are treating the music as an alive being on itself you need to be careful with how you treat it, it's like trying to attempt to take care of a flower, you need to give it sunlight, you might need to cut some of its branches sometimes, make sure that it has enough water, but not too much, and once it is fully grown, that flower can turn in a really beautiful rose. The songs in this album are like a whole garden of roses, all grown through the walls and floor of a desolated house in the distant future. When the music isn't necessarily in your face but developing really subtly, it feels as if you can give space to yourself along as you try to understanding it all. Yes, not all parts are flowsteady, Glass and the Ghost Children has a point where it just ends and then a different section starts, The Everlasting Gaze has a stop around the 2:45 second mark, there are some slow downs in flow in Try, Try, Try as well as in the bridge Age of Innocence, and maybe a few others. Still, for a big part of the album all songs are flowsteady and while this might not be so impressive being Alternative Rock songs, you know, pop based music that doesn't need to many changes, it makes me love the songs a lot more since they are the kind of songs that help me fall into a trance. If there is another well known album I know where all songs are flowsteady and develop this immaculate daze inducing state of mind is… hey, what do you know? Disintegration.
So now I have talked about the sound, the mood, and the structure of the songs, what's next? Oh right, the sequencing… this is also one of the things Machina failed with, but not because it didn't know any better but because it had no other choice. You might say, "hey but is sequencing really that important? Good songs are good songs, right?" To which I answer yes, yes it absolutely is, if you are given the climax of a movie in the first act, the movie might get a bit slow afterwards, or if all conflicts are solved in the middle, then you are just left screwing around the rest of the film, your mood is really really important when you are listening to a song and if a song comes in like a deranged vehicle over your lane, you will most likely enjoy it less the first times that you listen to it, or you will end up feeling the album as less than the sum of its parts if you continue to listen to it repeatedly. Sequencing is super, super important to music.
There are lots of playlists with Machina all over the internet, just like The Aeroplane Flies High, Machina is a bit of a "DIY sequencing" album, where you can just make your own playlist as how you prefer removing songs and adding songs from Machina II. There are some very well done playlists, and one I really liked was the one made by Soniclovenoize. Soniclovenoize is a blogger that has been doing album edits since 2012 and they keep going, taking sources of all places to make and restore albums, or make imaginary albums based on several artists to create an hypothetical band reunions and such. One of the albums that soniclovenoize tried to restore was Machina, and the result was Glass and The Machines of God. This reconstruction follows a throughout investigation of the possible original song cycle based on a blueprint of the cycle, lyrical interpretation and the synopsis for the concept of the story. The overall result is built in Mellon Collie fashion with 28 songs, 14 on each "disc," and overall shows a lot of improvement. There are also some changes like changing the EQ or replace songs with bootleg versions to make them sound more "live." The recreation is not available anymore in the webpage, but what matters the most is the sequencing itself. First we start with two songs of the Machina II and… what? Oh, the quality? I guess Machina II is a bit noisier than Machina I? I mean sure with songs of the CR-01 and CR-02 the vocals can be barely audible, but with this band, that can even be a plus. CR-04, aside three songs that end abruptly to me the music sounds overall pretty finished, and… I don't know bud, to me both albums sound of the same quality, and that is that they sound like complete garbage, lmao. Machina is in the opposite side of the spectrum of emotional and futuristic sounding Industrial-influenced 2000's albums towards Physicist where Physicist has such a crystal clear sound that you can feel and experience all the colors of the rainbow in every individual line of video static that presents in its collage of sound. Physicist is so good, I should listen to it again tonight…. Anyway, Machina in the other hand while it's also a very futuristic, cyber album, its covered in such a thick mist that feels like being covered by electric fog and clouds. Yes, electric fog might sound like a bad sound, but if we are talking about mistmourne music, that is also futuristic, electric fog is exactly a kind of sound you would end up looking to create to give that sensation in a direct to the listener, so it is a "bad" sound, but a bad sound that takes the best of its strengths. Still, I am not really good at detecting the differences in production in albums, so if you combine the albums, I can't guarantee that they will sound the same. There are also some songs in Machina II, that is like… three or four, that end abruptly, but if you only have them on your computer, there is a very handy trick you can try! I learned it listening the tracks on the reconstruction itself and it works wonders: just add a slight echo at the end! Yeah that's right! Just add a little bit of echo, maybe lower the echo volume a bit, and presto! In that way instead of being cut off completely it will feel as if the song was plugged off from the machine! Haha, the machine, I am so clever sometimes!
Overall, if you decide to go through the whole enchilada, you can perfectly make a 2 hour album the same way Mellon Collie was, 14 and 14 songs each, and you will end up with a fantastic experience. My rating is based on all these songs, not only the ones from Machina I, so yes, a bunch of the whole thing is really really solid. I think that while editing this kind of rare albums that were released only through bootlegs is hard, its still really nice when people change albums to their liking, on a Spotify Playlist changing the order of the songs, adding more songs of other places, removing song… okay maybe not removing songs as much, I like to always give more to a record, not less. Point is that, editing albums is nice, and if you decide to try to edit Machina you can still find something really nice to enjoy. I have heard the band has been planning to release it as it was intended, but don't hold your breath on it, news of a release have been circulating since 10 years ago, so my words would be just, build the record yourself, don't wait for a second anime season, read the manga, right now!
And that folks, takes us to the end. This album might not have the highs Mellon Collie had, but it neither had the same lows, it is more consistent overall, and I think that balances it out in the discography very nicely. Glass and the Machines of God is a fantastic adventure of cyber goth music with songs that develop so subtlety in a very beautiful and romantic manner and with a sound so abrasive that it swallows you whole. It's an album not only to cry, but also to imagine, to experience and assimilate that future we are still unable to fully grasp. In this record there is sadness, but there is also a small glint of hope, and a bit of happiness in the very middle of uncertainty for what it is to come. With this album it feels like like we will make it to the day of tomorrow rather than not, even if its with a few broken bones… or something along those lines, kinda, yeah.

"And I don't wanna get in your way, but I finally think I can say that the vicious cycle was over the moment you smiled at me. And just like the rain, you cast the dust into nothing and wash out the salt from my hands. So touch me again. I feel my shadow dissolving. Will you cleanse me with pleasure?"
This band, man. I can't. Sleep Token hits so hard.
Have you ever tried to explain Sleep Token to someone? Okay so we have this band who wants to remain completely anonymous, and they see themselves as vessels who dedicate their lives to serving the god of Sleep. They wear masks to keep their identities secret and they perform in complete body paint and wear robes. Like from the outside, that all sounds ridiculous.
But they are one of the best bands I have ever listened to. They blend so many different genres beautifully together in their music. It would be impossible to neatly place them into a specific category. Their lyrics are phenomenal and so fucking smart. The emotion in every song is palpable.
I read a post somewhere that said Vessel sings in cursive. That's 100% accurate. Their songs transport you into a different dimension. They sing of love, heartache, astrology, alchemy, physics, technology, longing, worship. I am a sucker for intelligent lyricism, and Sleep Token delivers ever time. Every song has a least one line I would gladly tattoo on my body. I want to live in whatever world they've created.

a/n: This was their wedding day. Both y/n and jimin were waiting for this moment to happen, especially jimin for this day and the night after this day. But y/n is smart and enjoy teasing him, so she is not going to let him enjoy on there first night. Before their marriage, she never let jimin kiss or cuddle, etc. So this time also she is going to do the same. Back to story.
j.m: ( Oh God, where is y/n. On our special day, she should be aware of time. This girl will make me crazy. Agh)
a/n: After he thinks of her being late, y/n enters with a big white beautiful gown, shoulder area visible with her flawless skin, designed with beautiful butterfly and flowers, puffed sleeves with glitter on it. Half tied hair with beautiful design and nude makeup, making her more and more pretty.
j.m: ( omo, she looks so pretty, gorgeous. Ahh, what should I say. No words can explain my y/n's beauty. ) (thinking while smiling)
a/n: Now, both are standing face to face.
y/n: Jimin! JIMINN!!
j.m: huh! Yeah, yes.
Y/n: What happened to you? Are you ok!
J.m: Do you really think I'm gonna be ok after all you are standing in front of me looking this gorgeous, pretty. Me on the other hand, have no words to explain your beauty. (speaking in a teasing way)
Y/n: (looks down and becomes shy after what he said)
J.m: You look so cute while being shy (smiles)
Y/n: Shut up! (Hides her face after turning into a red tomato)
Priest: Do you take Ms. Y/n to be your wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, honour her, comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others , for as long as you both shall live?
J.m: " I do "
Priest: Do you take Mr. Jimin to be your husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, honour him, comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others , for as long as you both shall live?
Y/n: " I do "
Priest: I now announce you husband and wife. You may kiss now!
Y/n: aa wait! Not now!
J.m: But now we are married ! Wh---
Y/n: no. Not right now!
J.m:( What is she planning to do at our first night? Will she go wild,no,no. Stop jimin, what are you thinking? Stay calm! ) Hmm, ok .
A/n: party was over! They were in their house, in their shared bedroom! Y/n was in the balcony, breathing fresh air, then jimin entered.
J.m: Breathe ,breathe as much as you can because after this, you won't be able to!
Y/n: Ahh, jimin! Can't you stay without doing flirt?
J.m: no... I can't when you are standing in front of me .
Y/n: arghhh!! (She goes inside to change)
A/n: jimin goes inside and stands in a sexy pose near the mirror where y/n was sitting and changing.
J.m: may I help! Mrs. Park (says with a smirky tone)
Y/n: ( blushes but doesn't says anything)
J.m: I know you also have been waiting for this day, babygirl ! (smirks)
Y/n: (stands and says) What do you think im horny like you? I was never waiting for this day, and I will never ! ( turns around ) (in mind: ahh, sry, I had to lie, but it's more enjoying to tease you, don't worry some day(laughs secretly), you know)
J.m: Ahh! This girl will never let me kiss her. I should go to sleep. At least, I'll ask for a cuddle(says while being disappointed)
A/n: y/n comes after a nice shower, and jimin is waiting for her in bed, scrolling phone. Y/n doing her night routine. Jimin is still waiting.
Y/n: ok, now you should sleep. Don't use too much of your phone.
J.m: Hmm, ok!....... Hey y/n .
Y/n: yes
J.m: Can you cuddle me while sleeping! Ahh, actually, I....
Y/n: Stop!no need for an explanation . You don't need to ask. Who am I? Someone unknown to you? Huh!!
J.m: (smiles)( this girl. I don't know. I understand her or not) so it means I don't need to ask for a kiss either. Right!
Y/n: Huh! Sleep now.
J.m: (chuckles) ok
A/n: they cuddle each other and sleep.
Next morning
Y/n: uhmm... what time is it!! Ahhh! (Shouts)
J.m: Uhh, what happened y/n? Are you ok? Oh gosh, what time is it. Uhmm... it's 7:45am
Y/n: You are late, Jiminn!!!
J.m: for whaat? (Sleepy tone)
Y/n: for your work, silly! Wake up---
J.m: Ahh y/n, don't worry! I just took days off because we just got married(yawn), and why are you worried about work? Huh!!!
A/n: he asks in a disappointed way because you never asked about him like this.
Y/n: Ah... uhmm. I- I don't know, maybe b-
J.m: because I'm not that important to you! Right ( he said while cutting your words and left you trying to stop him)
Y/n: Hey jimin!(wait. Idea) Hey babe.. wait ( he stopped because after so long, you used that word for him)
J.m: What did you say? ( you camed near to him and said)
Y/n: (whispering softly) wanna hear it again? But I'll say it in one condition!
J.m: Yes, please speak your one condition(speaking softly)
Y/n: You have to forgive me .
J.m: done already (saying while giving his cute eye smile)
A/n: You wrapped your arms on his shoulder, making him wrap his arms on your waist. That was a very romantic atmosphere, so something naughty camed in your mind.
Y/n: (You camed closer to his ears, passing closely from his lips, making him open his damn hot mouth a little and breathe deeply) baby( you said slowly and softly making him close his eyes) I....love....
A/n: You came slowly closer to his lips but did not end up kissing him. You both had eye contact, and he was about to kiss u, but you pushed him towards the bed and ran outside. He land3d on the bed straight. He was shy and was blushing so hard.
J.m: ( while blushing hard) goshhh! This girl! She'll make me crazy (takes the pillow and tries to hide his face and whole self because of being shy)
Y/n: ( outside the door, speaking to herself) Oh God, that was close. He was about to kiss me(chuckle), but that was cute and romantic(you hid your face with your hands) ok girl calmdown ( you took deep breath) lets go cooking.
A/n: You were done cooking. You just have to serve. You were minding your own business, then jimin came downstairs with black, oversized tee and black trousers, wet, messy hair looking hot to you.
J.m: ( saying while putting his both hands on the table where you were serving the breakfast) whay happened babygirl, do I look this hot that you can't remove your eyes! Huh...
A/n: You came back to your sense.
Y/n: h-huh! No, it's not l-like that. Why would I drool over you.
J.m: (smirking), but I never said that you are drooling over me.
Y/n: (You turned around) ahh shit! What did I just say(talking to herself)
J.m: Is there something up to you? You know what ! I know I'm cute and sexy as hell. You can tell me if you are getting needy, although we are husband and wife, I can make your needs come true(saying while putting his one hand on his waist and bitting his lower lips)
Y/n: SHUT UP JIMIN!! I'm not like you ( actually, I was drooling and getting needy, but I am able to control myself, but he can't)
A/n: he said ok very cutely and sat down for breakfast. You both were sitting face to face , he was all the time admiring your beauty while you were serving him food.
J.m: You know what! I'm so lucky to have you ( you stopped at this moment). You are so nice ,kind ,beautiful, and caring, not this much only, there is more , but that all is feelings that I feel and have for you.
Y/n:(You blushed a little and said) now eat your breakfast, we already wasted too much of time.
J.m: ok
A/n: You both finished your food, and you went to do the dishes, and jimin was helping you by giving you the dishes kept on the table. While giving you dishes, he said.
J.m: y/n, we didn't waste our time. That was just a romantic moment.
Y/n: (you smiled) I know that. I just didn't have words to say while you were saying so beautiful words for me.
J.m: is that so(he smiled and left)
Y/n: Gosh, there is so much of work. I should finish it quickly.
A/n: You took out your earphones, plucked it in, and started listening to your fav songs. Jimin, on the other hand, thinking why you were behaving like this, because you knew it that he gets needy very fast and can't control back. He was I'm your shared bedroom, lost in his thoughts.
J.m: (talking to himself) Why is y/n behaving like this? Does she lose her feelings for me? No, this won't be happening . What am I thinking stupid. Wait, she's not a normal girl. She must have planned this all(smirks). If this is what you wanna do with me,then watch what I'm gonna do with you(smirks again). I will make you this much needy , that you will come to me by yourself and ask for it. No, you won't be asking, you will do it .( gives a creepy smile) Wait and watch babygirl(again gives a creepy smile)
Y/n: jimin , I've do-. Why are you laughing like this? ( she stopped speaking when she saw jimin laughing like an evil creature)
J.m:uff! That was close. Now see how I will make you needy in just one day (becomes shy after thinking what he will do)
Y/n: (shouts), did you say something .
J.m: No, you are just imagining
Y/n: Huh! Ok (confused)
A/n: After some time, you came out of the bathroom, feeling fresh. You searched jimin, but he was not there. Then, you found a note, kept on the table, right side of the bed. The message said, " Hey babe, I'm going out, I just remembered a work. Need to go because it's important. I'll be back soon. The work is not important that you. Love you♡♡♡."
Y/n: (You blushed after reading the last line) love you, babe, just be back home soon.
A/n: ok girl, be normal. You know what you are doing, focus on that. If you'll not focus on that, then you will release your feelings for him that you have controlled.
A/n: y/n have controlled her lusty feelings that's wedding day only.
Y/n: Wait! Today is 11oct , it means the day after tomorrow is Jimin's birthday . (You said this in excitement) ok, let's plan for his birthday( you went to the hall)
A/n: You planned everything for his birthday, who you have to call, decoration, etc. You got tired, so you slept on the couch only. When you were planning, it was 1pm. Your work got over at 3 pm. Jimin arrived home after 30min.
J.m: I'm home
A/n: he saw you sleeping on the couch, so he picked you up and went upstairs. He layed you on bed.
J.m: (smiles) You look so gorgeous while sleeping,an angel. ( he kissed you in the forehead and went downstairs)
A/n: it's been 1 hour 30 min, and he is roaming around thinking what to do.
J.m: I guess I should cook dinner, at least I'll not waste my time like this.
Y/n's pov
Ahh... what time is it. (You checked your phone, and it was 7:10pm. Oh no, I haven't cooked anything . Goshhh, stupid me.( You got panicked) I should go now. ( You ran towards the kitchen, say everything was prepared already)
Y/n: y-you cooked this all?
J.m: Hmm
Y/n: agh, why didn't you wake me up.
J.m: I didn't because you were sleeping so peacefully. I didn't wanted to wake you up.
A/n: He came close to you and cupped you.
J.m: Don't worry, baby, what will happen if I cook for one day. Huh, tell me.
Y/n: n-nothing I guess.
J.m: Then why are you getting panicked? Please don't, what if something happened to you . What will I do then. (Making cute and sad faces while saying)
Y/n: (chuckles) ok, then let's eat.
A/n: You both went to have dinner.
Y/n: Hmm.. it's good(while chewing)
J.m: (smiles) I know! Although I made it .
Y/n: From now onwards, you'll cook dinner.
J.m: (smiles disappeared) what! Don't do this with me. I'm just a baby( behaving childish)
Y/n: ok my baby, we will cook together (chuckles)
J.m: ok, sir! ( saluting)
Y/n: I'm not your sir
J.m: uhh....
A/n: Both of you laughed. You both are done with eating and cleaning the kitchen. You went terrace and jimin followed you.
Y/n:(Your eyes were closed, and you were taking deep breaths, enjoying the cold air. Then you felt someone's arm around your waist and his head resting on your shoulder. You knew it was jimin. So you didn't hesitate to come your arms over his arms. The warmth you felt from his body and his breathe which you felt on your neck, you just had goosebumps. But you felt protected, very protected) JIMIN, I LOVE YOU!
A/n: he removed his hands from your waist. You turned around him and held his hands.
J.m: What did you say? (He gulped)
Y/n: I love you, jimin. I-I know this is my second time saying , after so long, but it's true!
A/n: Now his hands are on your face and yours on his chest.
J.m: I know that's true, but you know what! It is very special for me when you say it(pure smile).
A/n: You both were about to kiss, but you remembered what you were doing. You pushed him a little and ran downstairs.

Steve Rogers x Fem.Reader
Lol, I didn't expect this Gif to be so big, but oh well. I did Loki, so I'm doing Steve now. Edit: This turned out better than I expected, I would honestly make another part.
🛡️Old Soul🛡️ (Marvel)
Warnings: Like...1 curse word, cute, (sorry but he's not as infatuated with Peggy, y'all), age difference (but we knew that already)
Steve didn't think he could fall in love at first meeting again...until he met you. Of course, the Avengers teased him for your age a little. Yeah, you might've been young, but you were an old soul.
☆*: .。..。.:*☆☆*: .。. .。.:*☆
There were times Steve needed to escape from the tower for a bit, too much foreign technology and things he still didn't understand. He was glad there were still parks around, although there weren't as many social interactions as there were in the '40s, people got phones and laptops now. But he didn't need that, he just wanted to relax and enjoy his escape.
He took a leisurely stroll, well, as leisure as he could be being Captain America in New York, but he avoided places he knew were crowded to get here, and now he just needed a place to sit.
"🎶Got a knockout style and the cutest smile, love that boy🎶"
His head sharply turned, it wasn't often he heard someone sing a song from his time, nor a voice that beautiful. You sat on a wooden bench with earbuds in your ears, your knees propped up for your head to lean against, your pretty [Eye Color] eyes looked off to the side.
"🎶With his baby blue eyes and his droopy bow ties, he's the king of the hoi polloi🎶"
You smiled to yourself, your finger tapping to the beat.
God, she's beautiful, Steve couldn't help but think.
He sang the next part to himself with you, "🎶He's a graduate, he's a fashion plate. The chicks all call him a righteous gent🎶"
He decided he'd join you, you didn't even realize that for a second, you made Steve feel at home.
You glanced up when you noticed someone sit beside you, but unlike Steve expected, you only smiled at him and continued to sing, but softer.
Respectful, you were getting better by the minute.
"🎶--than be President. He just is what he is, the technique is all his. Boy, it's the real McCoy🎶"
He silently finished the last lines with you.
You pulled out your phone, stopping the next song from playing.
"So. To what do I owe the pleasure of Captain America joining me?"
Your speaking voice was almost better than your singing voice, he was doomed.
"Well, I guess I was drawn in by your voice, Miss," Steve confessed honestly, "Speaking of, I was surprised to know people still listen to my music."
You chuckled to yourself, "It's a secret I have, so don't tell anyone. I listen to a lot of older music, in my opinion, some of the best music came from the '40s to '90s, everything after came from those times."
"Now, I know you listen to music on that device," Steve furrowed his brows trying to think of how to say his words, "But how do you find songs from so far back with the tap of a button?"
You giggle to yourself, "I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you--Okay, I am, but it's just cute," you show him your screen, "Right now, I'm on a playlist, which is a collection of different songs--you'd probably understand if I told you it's similar to an album list, just with tons of different songs and genres."
He nodded attentively looking into your eyes briefly.
Gosh, you thought his eyes were pretty.
"There are different types of playlists. Some are unorganized and can range from jazz to hip hop, or some are more organized to a music genre or generation, like Pop Music, '80s music, '60's music, and so forth. But with older songs, technology has gotten so crazy that it can...hm...in a way print the music from records and things and make it easier to find or listen to...Ah, I can't really explain it, but it's something like that."
"It's okay, I was just curious, besides, I get the point."
"What's got you at the park?"
"Sometimes technology can get a little much for me, I wanted something more...ah..."
"...Natural? Organic?" you guessed.
"Yeah, that," he gave a little laugh.
"I can't even imagine, this is a completely different era for you," you placed your feet back on the ground.
"Definitely, but I can't stay stuck in the past, it won't do me any good," he sighed, resting his elbow on the bench on the empty side.
"So, Captain," you smirked, "Have you ever gotten the chance to listen to any newer music?"
He hummed in thought, "Ah, not really. Why?"
You offered your wireless bud, "Well I can catch you up a little. I wouldn't mind a dreamboat like yourself hangin' with me for a bit," you decided to tease him, "unless you're too much of a geezer to spend time with me."
He grinned, "Did you just call me old?"
You made a so-so motion with your free hand, teasing smile on your lips, "I mean, you technically are."
He snorted as he took the earbud, "You're just young, kid."
"Oh, so now I'm a kid? Says the man that can't put in an earbud when he's been unfrozen for way more than a year."
"I'm not quick to adapt to technology, okay? Can you help me?"
You shook your head fondly, turning over and placing it in for him.
He sighed to himself at the small space between your faces, your knee pressed against his outer thigh, your gentle fingers brushing against his ear every second or so.
You pulled away to sit beside him, scooting a bit closer, "Alright, I don't want to scare you at the jump in music so I'll start with the '50s or '60s and go from there."
Steve didn't know how long he sat there with you, enjoying music, enjoying your company, listening to your voice. He was hooked and you hadn't even meant to, but he was already being reeled in with no effort.
After a while and you realized the time, you told him he should probably get back before others get worried he got lost, but not without his number (you praised him for at least mostly knowing how to use a phone). On his way back he got a notification, you'd sent him a song you recommended to him.
☆*: .。. .。.:*☆☆*: .。. .。.:*☆☆*: .。. .。.:*☆
A week later.
"Uh-oh, looks who coming up in the music game, you made it to the '80s," Tony teased when he walked into the living room.
Steve asked Jarvis to turn the song off from the couch he sat on.
"And he's been on his phone more lately," Natasha added.
This made Tony raise a brow, "The caveman? What made you want to get current all of a sudden?"
Steve got another notification that you'd texted, he could help but smile and text back.
"It's a woman, she's pretty," Clint spoke up from behind him, which made Steve jump.
You shouldn't do that to someone who was in a war.
Steve tilted his head back, meeting the archer's eyes, "When did you...?"
"Nat and I came up to get snacks before we went back to training. I heard your phone and got nosy," he answered the Captain before taking a sip from his water bottle.
"Damn, you're right, she's hot. Who's she?" Tony peered at your profile picture in Steve's contacts.
Steve moved it away, "Back off."
The younger men mockingly raised their arms.
"Relax, she's all yours. No need to get possessive over your girl."
"She's not 'my girl' Tony, we just met a few days ago."
"And you're already whipped."
"She looks pretty young for your age," Clint commented, he wasn't judging though, just curious how a younger woman got his attention.
"[Name]'s 25..." he half-heartedly answered, mainly focusing on trying to understand a meme you sent him.
Tony laughed, "You sure like the young ones, huh?"
"I'm not in my nineties if I haven't actually lived that time, Stark," he responded with a laughing emoji (one of the few emojis he used with you).
He'd been told that from you when he felt weird about flirting with you, you'd told him.
"Well, technically, I don't see you as your actual age. You were frozen all that time, you didn't actually live and experience those years, Steve. Besides, you're still cute with no wrinkles or health issues, I think that is pretty impressive for your age. A man like you is pretty rare now, that's not something that'll change my mind."
"She's more of an old soul anyway."
"So that's what it is," Clint realized.
"Still weird," Tony called back while he walked off with his blueberries.
"You're definitely into her, I can tell," Natasha talked around a strawberry.
"I am. I want to see her again--"
Beautiful💕🦋

Portugal has kind of an image of being a “sad country” that enjoys melancholy. Is that accurate in your opinion? Are there any Portuguese music or genres that are more upbeat than fado?
Honestly... Yeah, I agree with that. Though annoying as it is, and it is irritating how much we seem to enjoy misery, I admittedly am at fault of it myself, so I think it's one of those cultural things that though i can't really explain, it's just present.
I always use this example to explain how the portuguese see the world.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia here, the title of the show, was translated to Nunca Chove em Filadélfia. It means "It Never Rains in Philadelphia". We could have called it Faz Sempre Sol em Filadélfia, which means exactly the same as the title, but i just find it so funny that we went with the negative (i guess it's smoother too but I mean)
You want to hear more uplifting PT music, now i am NOT very much within the music scene, but Deolinda is very traditional and uplifting most of the time (Ana Bacalhau has that vibe). There's fado corridinho, which is the happy fado (my fave fado song is Amalia Rodrigues' Barco Negro, though the theme at first sounds depressive (her beloved is going off into the sea) the song is actually very uplifting cause it's Amalia saying old ladies keep telling her her beloved is gonna die at sea or something and she keeps saying "you're just old hags and crazy fuck off", i love it)
Portuguese hip hop is NOTHINg like the usual "im depressed" tone. Idk much of hip hop these days but Macacos do Chinês, to me, are THE best out there. They basically rap about chilling and having a great time in Amadora (and then there's the greatest fucking hip hop hit Tou No Babilónia which has a cultural significance I cannot possibly convey, but it's so fucking good oh my god. They also have a song called Saudade (hah) in which they revisited the concept of fado through hip hop. Seriously, they're fucking great).
Back in my day we jammed a lot to Da Weasel. These days, the lead singer goes by Carlão (he used to be Pacman in the early 2000s). He's done some really great collaborations and there's one with Marisa Liz called A Noite mixed by a guy called Stereossauro (keep this name in mind cause this guy has been mixing hip hop with fado A LOT and it's great) which I LOVE, it's such a great song and a perfect combination of fado with hip hop
Honestly, right now we're seeing a huge growth with fado and hip hop collaborations, which is kind pulling fado away from the typical "depressing song about the unfathomable weight of being portuguese" concept and I like that a lot. Check out Boss AC and Sam the Kid cause they've been working on a lot of collaborations towards that direction
For a more traditional vibe, or pop influenced by fado, and some absolute classics: Donna Maria (the band Marisa Liz was a part of, she's with Amor Electro today, it's a slightly different vibe but you might enjoy it too) and Madredeus. Madredeus is an absolute classic. If you've seen the movie Lisbon Story by Wim Wenders, Teresa Salgueiro, the lead singer, is one of the main characters and the soundtrack is not just made by Madredeus, the band is also integral to the movie.
There's also a new generation of fado singers that have adopted a happier fado and tend to sing more of Fado Corridinho, of which check out Raquel Tavares or Ana Moura
I mean, pop, hip hop, rock and electro are all music genres that are definitely a lot more up beat than fado but I think these new collaborations are completely transforming fado into that cheerful, happy genre of music. There are a lot of bands out there ofc but these come to mind rn

Hello!!!! I am in love with Journey To The Attic both as a concept and as a fic and IK is possibly my favourite OM OC I've ever read about so could we possibly get some like lil fun facts about her??? Like a headcanons post but not headcanons because it's your character?? I don't know how to explain it but I hope you get what I mean hdhdhdjfjfj
i think i get what you mean, nonnie, and i got you!! ik fun facts under the cut ^^
she's the kind of person who finds it hard picking a favourite colour because she doesn't want to hurt the other colours' feelings, but she definitely does have one (it's yellow)
her singing is average and not particularly outstanding, but she does sound very nice when she hums
if you play a melody to her, she'll be able to whistle it back to you nearly pitch-perfectly
despite being a pretty firm atheist, ik used to pray to 'god' whenever she wanted something really badly, inciting that she would start believing in him if he actually did as she asked (it never worked of course)
looking at a body of water any larger than the capacity of a smallish bucket makes her want to stick her hands in it (or jump into it, size permitting, even though she can't swim)
when she was younger she'd stick things like pencils into the flames of the stove to see what they looked like when they were on fire
her favourite key signature is d major
she can't hear the first two notes of beethoven's ode to joy without immediately thinking of the little einstein's episode with the caterpillar
her favourite doctor (who) is the twelfth doctor and her favourite companion is clara
she and her dad have made it a tradition to read 'the hungry hungry caterpillar' together every christmas because it was the first christmas present he ever got her. ik has never told anyone about this and she likely never will because it's a very personal and precious thing to her
she has two different editions of the pokemon encyclopaedia, but she's never played the games, watched the anime, or read the manga - she just liked looking at all the cool creature designs
she stole a mood ring from a museum gift shop when she was nine and felt like such a criminal that she dropped it into a gutter nearly immediately afterwards (this is a secret she will take to the grave)
she cries over books very easily but is capable of watching the most heartbreaking movie/tv scenes without shedding a tear
(this doesn't apply to animation, only to live action - it's because she can just reassure herself that these are just actors and that they're not genuinely upset)
her favourite movie is monty python and the holy grail. she first watched it when she was seven (her dad got it second-hand from a car boot sale) and it's influenced her sense of humour ever since
she doesn't have a favourite musical artist or genre - she just listens to what she likes - but she does have a firm vendetta against the song 'yellow submarine' by the beatles because her year one teacher constantly had it playing during reading time
her favourite (human world) school subject was biology and her least favourite was spanish

For me i would say SKZ are versatile music wise as much as they can.
Because is hard to find a specific sound to build your brand and with SKZ is even harder because they do their own music (most of their music).
The problem with a lot of groups i think is that they need to make music (find concepts, etc) that are different enough to say "oh! That's ___!" "That sounds like ___", because if not, they just fall in the middle... like tbh for me most of kpop groups.
That's why Chan while he was making the arregament with Versachoi for the God's D4 for Kingdom kept repeating that they needed to add the "SKZ's colour" wich means he found a specific sound (or music structure) that makes you say "that's SKZ" and that's what people likes and expect from them.
Before i became i stay i didn't like Get Cool, Akward Silence, Blue Print, Heaven, I am You, School Life, Ex, On Track, Astronaut, because that wasn't what i was looking for in SKZ (i love those songs now btw...not yet IAY tho). So if they experiment with their sound, they do it for the b-sides, because the general public just listen to their title tracks.
But i repeat, even with that, i think they are pretty versatile because they do their own music and they like to experiment.
For other groups like...BP for example, were they just have a bunch of composers (or even just 1) is even worse 'cause their composers make music trying to fit a concept for those groups and most of the time, sounds really similar.
I don't know of i am too biased lol but every time i compare SKZ's albums i think they are pretty different from each other and i see the progression, changes and experimentation.
Now, for the concept in style, make up and albums (photobooks) i agree 100% and is because they aren't in charge, look how different their concepts are for the new units, that's bc they took participation in that. For Kingdom it was the same, just for the God's D4 stage we got a different styling but the other stages was the same in different color :(
hi sorry for just replying. your ask is already quite long so i'll answer all of this under the cut
i think personally theyre versatile to an extent. ofc versatility means theyre able to pull off different concepts + song genres. they are able to pull it off actually (e.g songs like on track, oh vs songs like god's menu) but they don't showcase it that much. i do agree that they have a distinct sound to them that makes people say 'oh it's skz'.
idk what to say about this part bc i actually love love songs like get cool, blueprint, on track, etc. i think experimenting with their sound for title tracks is important not only to showcase that you're able to pull it off but it attracts people that actually likes these type of songs. do you know how many people became fans because of songs that you mentioned earlier? i understand the need to play it safe so they save it for their b tracks, but i think experimenting, trying out new things, is good too. and you already mentioned the part of songs being distinctly skz. they surely do that already to their b sides.
i also want to say then, that they are versatile. but to me, i think theyre able to do so much more than all of this. so many concepts that they still havent tried, so many more songs. they could do songs that are much vocal friendly too.
i wanna say smth about what u said abt bp but smdkfmlsdkf im not rlly sure what you mean ? they've been using 1 producer this whole time and i have to admit theyre the ones who really started this whole noise music wave. are you saying that they felt the need to continue the trend so they continuously try to make similar music?
personally, i do see some changes and experimentation in their songs. again, i'm not really good with words so i still can't explain my thoughts properly, but even their edm ~noise~ music sound the same. while it's good that it's distinctly skz, it's becoming redundant in a way? i said earlier to take 127 as an example. theyre also really big on noise usage but each noise/sound is very distinctly different (punch, kick it, simon says, fire truck) while it still maintains the 127 noise quality.
for concept style, i dont agree in terms of saying that theyre in charge. skz has been able to freely create their own music, so why not concept wise? i really believe that they have a lot to say in terms of concept, mv production, design etc. they create their own songs, so they must have a specific concept in mind going in, which translates to what they do in terms of design. chan even made the skz logo so i doubt theyre not in charge.

Old Friends
pairing: Jung Hoseok x reader genre: fluff, comedy, slight drama high school crush au and there’s a Hoseok vs y/n rap battle in there, somewhere word count: 6k warnings: just some passionate kissing, oh and shirtless Hoseok;)
Description: Hoseok is your high school friend that you had a different kind of relationship with. You run into him, after many years and rekindle your friendship. Then he takes you to your high school reunion and claims you as his girlfriend. But it’s only an act. Right?
A/N: EGO IS OUT!! I can’t get enough of it, or enough of J-hope. Hence, this oneshot. I gave this my all and had fun reading it back so I’m hoping it’s not shitty. Pls let me know what you think of it. Also I changed the way I write and reffered to the reader as ‘you’ for this one- idk i wanted to try it. If you guys have prefferences you can let me know. I hope you like it. Enjoy!
It's official, you hate summer. Sure.. school's out, no more chasing after professors or migraines lasting for weeks. But goddamn it it's hot and humid. It's like trying to breathe in a sauna, which you hate. Plus, the sun is like a deadly laser. Normally you love strolling through this street. Glancing at cute little stores and admiring street artists as you walk by. Not today, though. Not while feeling like all the water in your body is gonna evaporate any second.
You notice a little crowd up ahead, a half circle. And the sound of a groovy beat captures your attention. You might've stopped and joined the crowd just for the captivating music, if it wasn't for the torturous heat. In this instance you'll settle for only a glance at whatever show is going on inside that half circle.
That's until you see the street dancer there and you stop dead in your tracks. Someone is crazy enough to dance in this heat. Someone manages to look like the greatest performer alive despite the sweat covering his body and the fact that he's probably about to pass out. That someone is Jung Hoseok.
Before you can do anything else, you realize just how much better he’s become. And he was already an amazing dancer the last time you saw him. Back in high school, that is. Hobi the bubbly, cheerful dancer that dominated talent shows every year. Hobi who you occasionally helped pass chemistry. Hobi who could actually also sing, a fact only you knew about him of all the kids at your school. Because you’d spend most of your time in the music room, usually all by yourself. But one time, you caught him sitting alone and singing in there and after that, he’d visit you every so often. In return, he was the only one that knew you composed songs.
It’s been three years since graduation and your last conversation with him. But right now, he’s standing right in front of you. No, he’s dancing. The music ends in time with his final move and the mini crowd goes wild. As he catches his breath, most people leave money in his hat on the floor. You hope they’re being generous. Rightfully so, that was one hell of a performance.
You contemplate on whether you should say hi or not. The introvert in you decides you shouldn’t but before you can turn around to leave, you make eye contact with Hoseok.
“Y/N?” he asks.
“Hey, Hoseok.”
And he smiles. Despite how exhausted he must be, he gives you a whole cheekbones lifted, classic Hobi smile.
“You were amazing. But how did you not faint dancing in a weather like this?” you ask, smiling back.
“Come to think of it, I do feel like blacking out.” he says in between his panting.
You panic and go closer to him quickly. “I can take you to the hospital-”
“I’m kidding, Y/N.”
Did you maybe miss his mischevous ass? You both giggle.
“How about taking me to an icecream shop to catch up, instead? It’s been so freaking long. If you don’t have any plans, I mean.”
Your plan is going home, opening the refrigerator door and standing in front of it. So they’re skippable for an old friend.
“Let’s go before you deteriorate.”
You take him to the closest icecream shop you know and the shop has great air conditioning, thank god. Hoseok sits down and you feel as though he won’t be able to get up and order. Despite the smiley and bright facade of his, his body seems to be worn out. So, you take the liberty to order for both of you.
As you wait in line, order and wait for them to prepare it, you think about what you wanna say to Hoseok. Regardless of how much time has passed, you notice how you still get a little nervous with him around. It used to be like that in high school, too. You could never really look him in the eyes while he was speaking with you. You wouldn’t be intimidated. You’d just be kinda.. overwhelmed.
You take the cups and make your way to the table. Hoseok’s eyes light up, he seems content with your choice. He also looks better now, the cool air of the shop must’ve helped.
“What’re the odds of us meeting like this? Just on the street?” he initiates conversation.
“Well, I’m not exactly surprised to find Hope on the streets.”
“You remember my stage name?” He looks geniunely surprised.
“How can I possibly forget crowds of people going crazy, cheering J-hooope?”
That makes him shy, you think. With him averting his eyes to the ground. You’d hear those cheers often, back then. Hoseok was known as ‘J-hope’ and his act ‘Hope on the street’ was very popular. Everyone in Gwangju High would come to watch him perform, including you. It really is a bit strange how you ran into each other randomly on a street in Seoul, you think. You both had dreams of moving to Seoul as teenagers and had told each other about it. But neither of you knew if the other actually made it there. Until now.
"Did you move here right after graduation? I remember you talking about wanting to persue music here at University of Seoul." he says with his eyes on his icecream. He remembers your dream.
"Yeah, I had to get out of there. I moved here even before knowing if the university had accepted me. Thankfully, I got in. What about you? When did you come here?"
After he takes a spoon of the good stuff, he takes his eyes off from his cup and connects them with yours. It happens so suddenly that you almost blush. You're able to hold it in, though. Barely.
"I kinda wanted to wait until my work at the dance academy was done. So, after two more years at Gwangju, I finally transferred here, to National University of Arts just at the beginning of this semester."
You're glad to see him not giving up on dancing because he's so talented for it that it isn't like anything you've seen before or after you've known him. When he dances, it's like whatever music he's moving to actually finds form in him. And when he's not dancing, the way he moves around, walks, talks still somehow appears artistic.
But then, you realize you've been staring at him, lost in your train of thoughts. And he must've noticed because one corner of his mouth curves upwards a little, forming an almost smirk. This time, you can't stop your cheeks from turning red. Fuck.. What's wrong with you? It's been years since you've even seen his face. Why the hell did you just turn into a teenager, all over again?
"How's music school? Did you drop any albums I'm missing out on?" He asks and his eyes go back to his icecream. You can breathe normally again.
"I think school is always a pain in the ass. Even if it's about music." is your reply. You both laugh.
"I couldn't agree more."
Normally you have a hard time talking about yourself with others. But when it comes to Hoseok, it's different. Because that kinda used to be your relationship back in the days. Talking to each other about stuff you wouldn't with others.
"I've been working in a studio a friend of mine opened and we're working on some stuff but.. I can't seem to finish anything I start so, no. I haven't really been productive." you add with a frown. There're lots of things you don't like about yourself and being a procrastinator is one of them.
Then, a hand is placed lightly on yours that was resting on the table. It's Hoseok, holding your hand and looking at you warmly. "Nah, I'm still pretty sure we're gonna hear your stuff on the radio, soon." He looks like he geniunely believes that. All you can do is smile back in appreciation.
Time goes by as you talk about all kinds of stuff. You learn he lives at the student dorm but he's not exactly happy about it and wants to find a new place to stay. Also that he's giving dance lessons to earn some extra cash. You tell him about Yoongi, that friend of yours who owns a studio and how he's looking for someone to move in, after his flatmate moved away. You promise to have the two meet each other and see if they can become roomates.
Hoseok suggests to exchange numbers but it turns out both of you haven't changed them since high school, so you both have the other in your contacts. And you say goodbye shortly after, agreeing on hanging out again, soon.
By the time you get home, it's already evening and you're a little hesitant to open up the door and greet your roommate, Namjoon. Because you promised him that you'd watch that philosophical movie you can't remember the name of together. But you were supposed to do that about two hours ago. You decide to just go in and explain how you ran into an old friend and got held up. Namjoon'll understand, right? You go inside but see that nobody's home, so you call him.
"What's up ditcher?" is how he answers the phone and you can't blame him, really.
"I'm so sorry Joon. I wanna make it up to you but.. where are you, exactly?"
"Yoongi's."
"Okay, don't move." You hang up the phone and go straight into the apartment across the hall from yours. Yoongi has already opened the door before you can knock. You make for the living room and spot your roommate there. Just as you're about to explain, you also spot credits rolling on the tv screen and finished popcorn bowls.
"Wow, you watched Waking Day without me?" you complain. And Namjoon is quick to respond.
"It's Waking Life and yes, since you were a no-show."
"But you didn't even leave me popcorn."
"What're you saying? There's some left right here." Yoongi is the one who hands you one of the bowls.
"There are literally only three kernels here."
"Well, that's what ditchers get." Yoongi is just as merciless as Namjoon.
"But what if something happened to me on my way back-" you try the approach of pulling on their heartstrings but both of them whip their necks back and look at you in extreme worry, so you decide not to mess around. "Okay, okay. I encountered an old friend and lost track of time catching up. But maybe we can watch another movie and I'll make the popcorn, huh?" You wear a guilty grin on your face.
"Nope. You should take a seat and tell me about this friend that made you ditch me."
You sit down in between the guys on the couch, but you're facing Namjoon and telling him about Hoseok. Yoongi only sees your back and he's just so done with you, as always.
"You guys have a house exactly symmetrical to mine across the hall. Why the hell are you always here? I know it's not to see me, you're not even looking at me." It's a mix between ranting and whining. Both you and Namjoon know he's doing it to get attention.
"Because your couch is comfier." says Namjoon.
"And you have a piano." you add.
"You have a keyboard!"
"My keyboard is no upright piano."
Yoongi gives up with a huff. But you attack him with tickles until he gives in and giggles, all the while trying to get rid of your hands.
"By the way Yoongs, you're still looking for a roommate, right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"The friend of mine from Gwangju I was catching up with, Hoseok, is looking for a new place. I want to introduce you guys."
"Sure. What can you tell me about him?"
You pause because there're lots of things you can say about him. But those are all about the high school Hoseok. You wonder how many of them changed and how many stayed the same. You're sure of some things, though.
"I can tell you that he's a great guy and a dedicated artist, a dancer. Also he's funny and a mood maker."
"Alright. You should bring him over."
"Great! I will."
You wake up to your phone buzzing repeatedly. First thing you do is check the time and your clock on the wall is striking 11:30 in the morning. You overslept, great. It makes sense after you convinced Namjoon to binge watch Death Note before going to bed. But you ended up sleeping on the couch. The fact that you're in your bed right now means Namjoon carried you there.
3 unread messages from Hoseok.
-Morning, Y/N.
-Are you free today?
-I wanna treat you to some coffee.
It's been three to four days since the time you ran into Hoseok and you've been meaning to reach out to him to hang out but he just beat you to it. You thank the god for his extrovertedness.
-I'm taking care of some stuff in the studio today.
-But you can visit me there and if I'm finished quickly we can even hang out later, too.
-If you'd like, of course.
You press send and for some stupid reason your heart races a little fast. Were you being too forward? He just said coffee, maybe he meant a quick get together. You just asked him to wait for you in a studio, possibly for a couple of hours.
Two more buzzing.
-Sure! I'll make sure to help out so you can finish faster.
-Text me the time and the adress when you can.
You sigh in relief. But now it's time to be nervous about how you'll be alone with him there for a long while. Not that it makes you uncomfortable. You just feel that overwhelming feeling of him being around returning. You hope to at least not act like an idiot.
You make your way to the studio and text Hoseok the location, saying he could drop by whenever he'd like. Yoongi told you to listen to some demos for him but you leave that for last. For now, you're setting up some instruments and tuning them up for the band arranged to record tomorrow. But the bell rings and you sprint to answer the door.
"Hi!" you greet him.
"Hey." Hoseok says with a bright smile. He holds up the bags in his hands. "I brought food and icelattes."
"Which makes you a hero. Come in."
You eat and drink your coffees as you talk about stuff. Then, you play a recording of a guy who did an awful cover of Smelly Cat a few days ago. It makes Hoseok laugh so hard that he tumbles out of his seat and falls towards you. You knew it was a habit of his but you had never been the person he falls over to, before.
He helps you get the rest of the things done after that and surely him giving you a hand speeds up the process. For the last thing, you call him over to listen to the demos.
"Wow, some of these are really good. Especially this one, I like the beat a lot."
"Yeap, me too. I'm showing this one to Yoongi, later."
Finished up with the things, you're getting ready to leave but you hear him beatboxing the beat he liked a while ago.
"You can beatbox?"
"Yeah, I picked it up not so long ago."
An idea pops into your mind. You take him by the arm, practically drag him back to the recording booth and hand him a mic.
"Get a beat going."
"Wha-"
"Just do it." And you run back to record him doing it. After that, you throw in some other instruments quickly. When you play the outcome, he smiles so hard.
"How did you just do that in such a short time, coming up with practically a song."
"You did it, too. You came up with a beat off the top of your head. That's the basis of songs, mostly."
He listens to it over and over. "Hey can I use this for when I do freestyle battles?"
"To dance over to? Sure! I'll work on it some more, though and perfect it."
He shys away a little. "Well, this would make a great dance track but.. I meant freestyle rap battles."
"You rap, too? Geez, is there any street art you're not talented in?" You're not that surprised, though. He always stroke you as swag in living form.
"I'm trying to get into it. I should improve if I wanna make a name for myself out on the streets of Seoul." he says half jokingly but it's true that the rap scene has become a major part of street competition, recently. You know from Yoongi and Namjoon who are also rappers.
You play the beat from the top. "C'mon, then. Let me hear a snippet."
"No, no I'm not really-"
"C'mon~ let's battle." you say to get him worked up a bit. Also, you picked up a few things from Yoongi and Namjoon over the last couple of years.
"Oh battle? Okay then, why don't you go first?"
Both of you try to control your laughter and you come up with some very stupid and childlike rhymes that make Hoseok laugh even harder.
"It's your turn, J-hope."
"Ooo~" he gets more fired up with the mention of his stage name. You're going back and forth rapping about the most random and funny stuff. But then you get bolder and want to go at him a bit, to get him more serious about this. Trying to remember embarrassing things he's done in high school, you throw in lines about the time he had to dance in his underpants in front of the whole school after losing a bet.
Also, there's this face you pull whenever you try to diss someone, something you picked up from Yoongi. But it looks funny on you and the boys always make fun of you about it. You're sure you're doing it right now, too out of habit. And you're not wrong because as soon as you're done, Hoseok starts and he mentions it.
Except, he says something along the lines of despite of you having that expression, he still doesn't feel like you're dissing him because of how beautiful you look even while pulling a funny face.
What? Did he just call you beautiful? In a rap battle?
You're in shock and aren't able to speak for a while. Which Hoseok takes advantage of. "You failed to come up with something in time, Y/N. I win." Then he boops your nose. He fucking boops your nose. What did you get yourself into?
It's the day you finally bring Hoseok to meet with Yoongi. It's been a couple of weeks since you guys started hanging out kinda on a regular basis and Yoongi finally had some free time. The three of you are sitting in Yoongi's living room and you're watcing them get to know each other. Everything seems to go well. The door opens and Namjoon walks in.
"Yo. Sorry I'm late."
"It's okay since you live far away. Oh wait, you live across the hall." Yoongi is quick to welcome him.
"At least I brought dessert."
The two boys go into the kitchen to get dessert ready to be served.
"That's my roomate Namjoon. He wanted to meet you, too." you inform Hoseok.
"Roommate? Wait- you live just next door?"
"Yeah."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner? I'd beg to Yoongi or something to get him to accept me!" he says with a smile. You're glad he's happy about the fact you might live next to each other.
"I think he already likes you. I'm pretty sure you got the room."
And you turn out to be right. Hoseok and Yoongi hit it off quickly and he moves in a couple of days later. You start spending even more time together since then. Both with the other boys around and just you two, alone.
This one time Yoongi gives you the day off, Namjoon is off to do a job interview and you've got absolutely nothing to do. So you go over to see Hoseok. You knock and ring the bell but loud music is coming from inside and he doesn't hear you. The door isn't locked, though and you just go in. When you get to the living room you see Hoseok practising, going really hard at it. There're sweatdrops on his face and his white shirt-now practically see through shirt-is stuck to his body, revealing the delicate structure of it.
Blood rushes to your cheeks and your heart is thumping but you can't look away. He's art, you think. Art that you can't get enough of. He finally notices you, which almost gives you a heart attack but thankfully he isn't uncomfortable with you being there.
"Hey- uh- phew." he tries to talk but needs a moment to catch his breath, first. "Y/N. Please tell me you've been standing there long enough that you saw my new moves."
You nod, still not completely out of your daze. "They were.." you trail off because he just casually takes his shirt off in front of you. "Can you pass me that?" he asks you to hand him over the towel on the chair next to you. You're on autopilot as you do so.
"So, what do you think?"
"Oh yeah- Umm.. it was awesome. Very captivating.."
"Thanks." he smiles brightly while walking closer to you. "I'm gonna take a quick shower. You wanna hang out, after?"
Right. That's why you came over, you remember. "Yeah, I'll be here."
Hoseok and you just hang inside all day. Not doing much but still managing to have fun. Yoongi comes home for a while but has to go back out again, so it's mostly just you two. In the middle of the night, you guys start watching a movie, planning to stay awake till morning but Hoseok's tired from practising earlier and dozes off, eventually. And you're famous for sleeping in front of the tv, so you quickly follow. Then, you two somehow get in a cuddly position in your sleep.
The next morning- or more like afternoon, you wake up to Yoongi slurping his coffee, seated right across from you. Hoseok's nowhere to be seen.
"Hey Yoongs, why am I still here?"
"Well, you obviously fell asleep in front of the tv again and Namjoon's strong arms weren't here to carry you to bed."
"Where is he?"
"Joon said he was staying at a friend last night, not wanting to get all soaked up in the rain. And Hobi woke up just moments ago and went out, saying he has to get ready for a gig."
You nod at him and get up. You're about to go back to your place to wash up but realize something suddenly.
"Since when do you call him Hobi?"
"Since when do you have a crush on him?"
Your eyes go wide with panic. "Wha- No way what're you say-"
"Do you think I'm blind? I can perfectly see it when two people are cuddling on my couch."
"We just fell asleep that's all-"
"I saw you two over at the piano, too. And in the kitchen a few days ago doing the dishes. And while dancing here in the living room for no reason. You can't look him in the eyes without going red and he can't take his eyes off of you."
There isn't much you can say to convince him otherwise because you realize that he's right. At first when you guys started hanging out again, you thought you felt butterflies because you kinda had a thing for him in high school. You paid it no mind thinking it'd fade away with time but it didn't. Your feelings only grew stronger and now you know it was visible to others.
What has you tensed up, however is the way Yoongi talks about the situation like it's both-sided. That's where you can't be sure. Because yes, Hoseok randomly calls you beautiful, takes you out for meals and spends entire days with you. But you don't know if he likes you like that or if he's just being friendly. Just like back in high school.
"Okay, yeah. He makes me feel a certain way. But there's nothing going on, we haven't even talked about it. I don't think he's into me like that."
Yoongi's brows furrow in confusion. "He was just asking me if anything was going on between you and Joon the other day, though."
He asked what?
"What?"
"Dude, he was obviously jealous and suspicious of the fact that you were roommates. And very close ones."
You did have a very close bond with Namjoon, just as you did with Yoongi. Yoongi's just involved less skinship and more serious talk. But Namjoon was the first person who friended you in Seoul and over the years he became your self proclaimed guardian angel. That was all.
"You didn't correct him?!"
"I tried but he seemed overwhelmed with confusion, I'm not sure if he fully believed me. Or fully listened? I dunno- I was kinda enjoying his little emotional crisis."
"Yoongs!"
"Fine! So yeah, maybe you should to talk to him."
How do you talk to someone about this? you wonder. And can Yoongi really be right about the possibility of him reciprocating your feelings?
You're reading a book on your couch. It's been a couple of days since your cuddly interaction with Hoseok and you haven't really hung out after that, either. You're not avoiding him, though. More like testing the waters. Namjoon's little squeal and sprint to the living room gets you out of your thoughts.
"Y/N! Oh my god!"
"Joonie what happened?"
"I got in." His smile is from ear to ear but you're not surprised he got the job he was going after for a while now. He happens to be intelligent beyond your understanding. But also a goofball. Because he -who usually treats books like his children- throws the one you were reading away and gets you up on his back. Now you're both singing victory songs as he gives you a piggy back ride.
Just then, Hoseok makes an entrance to your apartment, sees you two and his face visibly drops.
"Oh- sorry guys. I should've knocked-"
"Dude, it's okay. Think about our two apartments as one big house. You don't have to worry about knocking everytime. Come in!" Namjoon is being his friendly self as he puts you down. "I gotta go call my parents. Thanks for always believing in me, Y/N." He places a soft peck on the top of your head and goes back to his room. Uh-oh. You hope Hoseok doesn't misunderstand.
"How are you doing, Hobi?"
"I'm-" he hesitates for a while. "I didn't know you and Namjoon were.. are you? Y'know like together?"
"No!" you regret yelling but it just comes out before you can stop. "I mean, it's not like that. We're friends. In fact he kinda decleared himself my older brother."
The total grimace that had took over Hoseok's face starts to slowly dissappear. "Oh, okay. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable like that-"
"No, no. Let's just change the subject." You want to move on from this before it gets awkward.
"Okay. Oh right! I came over to show you something."
He holds out his phone for you to see. It's an invite to an event. Gwangju High's high school reunion, to be exact. You also got one, too but immediately deleted.
"The reunion? You're going?" you ask.
"We should go."
You're about to protest but he cuts in.
"I know most of our year were jerks. But it's Gwangju. I know you miss it there. And high school wasn't all evil."
"It was the people who were evil, Hobi."
"That's why we have to show them their evil ways weren't enough to break us down."
"What do you mean, we? Everyone loved you!"
"The jocks hated me for being popular despite not playing football."
That was true. They sometimes gave him a hard time for grabbing the attention of girls more than them.
"Besides, we're grown ups. If they weren't able to mature, that's their problem. We'll just breathe in some hometown air and have fun."
You did miss home. And the fact Hoseok'll be with you eases your stress so you say yes.
Hoseok and you roam the streets of Gwangju, firstly. You tell him the places you missed most and you visit those. When the reunion evening closes in, both of you go to your homes to get ready. Your parents are sort of shocked you're attending the event but they won't complain because they missed you a lot and you haven't realized how much you missed them back till you finally came back after a long while.
Hoseok comes to pick you up and oh boy. He immediately recongnizes the dress you're wearing as the exact one you wore to prom. The light blue piece fits your body even more perfectly now, he thinks.
"This is your prom dress." It's not a question because he's certain.
You panic because well you wore it thinking nobody would remember since not a lot of people were paying attention to you during prom and you didn't have anything else decent enough in your old closet. How the hell does he remember?
"It looks even more beautiful." And with that, your panic is no more.
You get to the school finally and almost everyone is there. All trying very hard to look fancy, so Hoseok and you make fun of some of them before entering.
"It's J-hope!", "Hope's back!" and "Who is that with Hoseok?" are the comments you hear as you walk by. A few speeches are given, while you stuff your face with cupcakes. Then music's on and people start dancing.
Hoseok is approached by many and he kindly converses with them all. He forces you to speak from time to time, too. One of the boys who you used to tutor a lot, Hansung, tries to make a couple of moves on you. Probably under the influence of alcohol. You politely dismiss him but some other guys that came alone also are eyeing you from different places of the room. Hoseok is well aware and not okay with it, at all.
He slides a hand down your arm and links your fingers. When you turn to him in surprise, he pulls you closer. "Let's act like a couple."
"What-"
"I'm sick of people trying to see if you're available for them, aren't you?"
It is a bit disturbing. You bet most of them didn't even recognize you and are just looking for a prey for the night. "I am." you reply.
"Then just go with it."
So you do that but this time the girls start to get uncomfortable since most of them were eyeing Hoseok. And like clockwork, Gaeun appears with her gang of plastic girls. Gaeun used to be Hoseok's biggest fan. But all she actually wanted was to get into his pants just cause of how popular he was. Knowing this, you tense up. Her eyes hold such a suggestive look that you almost want to protect Hoseok from her.
As far as you know Hoseok has never indulged her like that back in school days. And he doesn't seem to be effected by the way she looks right now, either which can be described in two words: model legs.
"Hobi~" her irritating voice muses. "There're lots of girls wanting to dance with you tonight."
He takes his hand away from yours to claimingly grab you waist. "Sorry, ladies. My dances are all booked by this one, right here." He turns his head and places a kiss on your temple.
"I'm sure your date for the night won't mind if-"
"She's not just my date for the night. Y/N is my girlfriend." he cuts her off. Shock is evident not only on their faces but yours as well. The girls have to walk away awkwardly but what they think they're speaking among themselves is quite audible to you.
"There's no way. Y/N could never be enough for him. Just wait until the end of the night and see how he gets bored."
Hoseok didn't hear them. But you and some other people did. And you don't care what Gaeun says but her words get around fast and people are looking at you even more weirdly than before. Hoseok realizes your body tensing up.
"What's the matter?"
"I don't think people are buying that we're together. Especially after Gaeun started speaking to them."
He looks around to find that people really were looking at you suspiciously.
"Let's make it more believable, then."
He pulls you to the dancefloor and starts moving you to the rhythm. You've danced with him before but they were all silly ones, meant for fun. This one was serious. And your bodies were seriously close. But you just let him lead you, knowing that he knows what he's doing. After a while he figures that the music's ending so he twirls you around and finishes with a sudden dip.
You're back is resting againt his hand as you're leant back and Hoseok's face is so very close to yours. Some people clap and some don't but neither of you really care about the people watching anymore. Then he kisses you. He downright kisses you at the center of the dancefloor. It's passionate but gentle. He doesn't let go for a while but you've no clue how long it's been cause you're lost in the taste of him. Which is a thousand times sharper than the whiskey and a thousand times sweeter than the cupcakes.
He pulls you back up, finally parting your lips. "I think we got about enough attention. Wanna get out of here? We can go to the music room." he suggests. All you can do is nod cause you still can't form words.
You get there and it's the only place in this school that you've missed. You sit down on the piano seat and Hoseok pulls a chair next to you, it's like deja vu.
"You know the song you used to play, the one I liked a lot. River-"
"River flows in you." of course you remember.
"Yeah. I kinda tried learning that on the piano a while back."
"Show me."
He tries to play it and messes up some bits so you help him out. Then, your hands touch accidentally and you both freeze.
"Y/N-"
"Hoseok-"
You both try to speak at the same time and cut each other off, so you laugh. Hoseok goes for it again.
"Y/N. I wanted to ask you out so many times right here, as you'd play songs to me. Did you know that?"
You most certainly did not.
"I wanted to ask you to a dance at the prom, so bad. But you left before I could muster up the courage."
He turns to face you completely.
"I couldn't believe it when I found you again, like that. Everything I felt came back to me as we spent more and more time with each other. And when I got that invite.. I thought- Maybe I've been given a second chance, to do it right this time."
Your heart is racing so fast that you can hear it. Every word he said are things that you've been thinking. So you have to do it properly this time, too.
"So.. so, will you go out with-"
You crash your lips with his immediately and he responds in a flash. This time the kiss is much more deep and demanding. His hands travel down to your waist as you get up from your seat and move to his lap. He hums into your mouth and you try to take in every bit of the vibration from it before both of you pull apart, out of breath.
But he still looks at you with questioning eyes, as if you haven't just given him an answer clear as day. But he looks so cute that you entertain him.
"Yes, high school crush. I will go out with you."
He can finally smile again. Though, it turns into a smirk a while later.
"But will you go out with me?" you joke around, still sitting on his lap.
"I will go out with you so bad that it'll swipe you right off your feet."
As if he already doesn't..
....
A/N: Wowzers, my first Hoseok fic is finished.. I know this was long and thanks sooo much if you bared with me and read it. It would mean a great deal to me to know what you thought of this so, I’d love to have your feedback. Thanks again for reading and have a lobely daayyy :)

Celebrating Prince: discovering a timeless artist and his meaningful and impactful art. Part 3. The legal battle against Warner Bros, The Gold Experience and Emancipation eras.
Hi music lovers, as I anticipated on monday, music addiction is going to celebrate Prince and his amazing and timeless work!! The article will be split into a few little articles. I hope you enjoy this new format and these articles!!
For some reasons I had to repost this article therefore the 4th part will be uploaded tomorrow✨ stay tuned for more✨
As I said yesterday, let me say that I have heard so many things about Prince’s artistry. Some comments came from uneducated people who did not even take a second of their lives to understand, and do research on his art. Hence, I think the time to shed some light on Prince’s art, has come (finally). I hope to help some of those people understand this artist better and to finally appreciate him the way he deserves. We owe Prince big time. Today’s music and musicians owe Prince everything. Without him, many of the artists we listen to today, WOULD NOT BE EXISTING. As we all know, Prince loved to experiment with music, trying out new music genres, new styles, new harmonies, melodies, rhythms and so on. This is one of the factors that led this legend to create a unique, wide and broad vault. There are so many songs of his that I love so much and that I find relevant for this article. The ones I chose, are going to prove that Prince and his music did not just revolve around sex and sexuality, (even if the artist through his music took the topic to another whole level). Through the article, we will see that Prince was more than all that I mentioned above. He was an extraordinary human being, blessed with so many enormous talents, with a beautiful mind, a uniquely pure soul. A true gift of God. With this in mind, let us start this article.
This is the sequel of the 2 articles I posted yesterday, so in case you guys missed them, check the previous 2 out.
Before I continue with this article, it is important to mention the Prince’s fight against Warner Bros. I know this was a matter so close to his heart and he cared about that. Hence, I think there is the impellent need to explain the situation to spread awareness and to remind the huge efforts Prince made beside his beautiful music. Back in the 90s, the artist’s music was owned by the aforementioned record company, although Prince was the person who composed, wrote, and performed HIS music. The artist was extremely aware of the importance of owning his masters and therefore his music wanted to buy back the rights to his music from Warner Bros, but the company denied that. Therefore, the artist would have had to re-record his music, the same music HE composed, HE wrote and performed. Indeed, as Prince stated in a 1999, Paper interview, “I wanted to buy my masters back from Warner Bros. They said no way. So I'm going to re-record them. All of them. Now you will have two catalogs with pretty much exactly the same music—except mine will be better—and you can either give your money to WB, the big company, or to NPG. You choose.". During this long legal battle, the artist decided to leave Warner Bros and created his own record label The NPG Records. Besides all of that, Prince, during the legal fight with Warner Bros, changed his name into an unpronounceable symbol and started to write the word slave on his face to symbolize the condition of slavery under which many artists had to stay. This battle lasted for about 4 decades. With this Prince was fighting for his artistic freedom, ownership of his work, and his rights. In addition to that, Not only was this huge artist fighting for himself, but also for all the other artists exploited by record companies. The artist formerly known as Prince was not to be silenced. Indeed, many of the works he crafted during the 90s, were an act of protest against record companies. It is extremely important to remind people how this artist gave his contribution and paved the path for other artists to be free and be more aware of this ENORMOUSLY important issue. I briefly summarized and addressed this HUGELY RELEVANT issue, but there would be more to say, and I will write an article about that. I will never stress enough the importance of Prince’s battle against record companies and his music being robbed from him. He has made a big impact and we all should be thankful and grateful to him for being bold enough to speak up about the topic and address this issue.
Moving back to his music, in 1993 Prince ended the partnership with Warner Bros and started his own record label the NPG Records. Needless to say, as soon as the artist started his label, he began working on his new project, The Gold Experience, that eventually was released in 1995. This timeless gem is the product of Prince’s deep and broad artistic evolution. On this masterpiece, there are 3 songs that I find extremely relevant which are: We March, The Most Beautiful Girl in the world, Billy Jack Bitch, and Gold. Through its forthright and explicit lyrics, We March is a powerful protest song where the artist speaks up against racism, misogyny, and prejudice.
If this is the same avenue my ancestors fought 2 liberate
How come I can't buy a piece of it even if my credit's straight?
If all the water's dirty and I wanna lay the pipe, my dammy
The river that I drink from, will it be the same as your mammy
In these lines, the artist is raising his voice against the prejudice of moneylenders.
If this is the same sister that U cannot stop calling a bitch (Bitch)
If U can't find a better reason 2 call this woman otherwise
Then don't cry, U made the bed in which U lie
These lines are a protest against misogyny, particularly slurs such as the term bitch which is seldom referred to women.
Now's the time (now's the time) 2 find a rhyme (Yeah)
That's got a reason (Yeah) and frees the mind (free your mind)
From angry thoughts, the racist kind (Yeah)
If we all wanna a change then come on get in line (Get in line!)
Next time we march (Whoa)
We're kickin' down the door
Next time we march (Hey yeah) (Whoa)
All is what were marchin' 4
With this bit of the lyrics, Not only is the artist revolting against racism, but it is a warm encouragement to react and change the situation. This song is a total anthem against racism, prejudice, and misogyny, to the point that in 1995 it became the hymn of the Million Men March. Moreover, I think it is urgent to focus on the arrangement of this song. The arrangement is strictly connected to the lyrics to make the song even more vivid. I picked the music sheet for the piano. I am not going to annoy you with some obnoxious details, and I will try to be brief. I hope to be as clear as possible. The arrangement is presenting a key signature at the beginning of every staff which means the song is arranged in G major. The key signature designates notes that have to be played higher or lower than the corresponding natural notes, and it is applied through to the end of the piece or up to the next key signature. In this case, after the clef, we can find a sharp sign which means that some notes are raised one semitone above the natural notes. Some other notes have the natural sign near them which means that the sharp key signature is canceled for them, hence these notes are natural. With this said, the question should be, why would Prince arrange the song like this? In my opinion, the artist might have used a key signature to raise some notes and the natural sign to cancel the accidental, for a specific reason. Musically speaking, Prince was an educated genius, hence I am sure he knew exactly what he was doing and why. The artist wanted to create an imbalance between the notes to create the effect of a real and difficult march, almost like climbing a mountain. Perhaps this arrangement might symbolize a difficult march that eventually will lead to the achievement of freedom, respect, equality, acceptance. Therefore, I would say that the connection between the extremely complex arrangement and the lyrics was magistrally crafted. This song is just one of the many examples of how brilliant Prince was.
Furthermore, another song that I love is Billy Jack Bitch. This is another protest song, but the topic is totally different from the previous one. Through these hilarious and sarcastic lyrics, Prince is revolting against a gossip columnist named Cheryl Johnson who was caught being utterly rude. As a matter of fact, the song is so crystal clear that there is no need for further explanations. However, one thing that I noticed in the lyrics Prince managed to mention the initials of the woman.
Joy - it's in the dictionary
See "J" Billy Jack Bitch
The artist could not write the actual initials of the woman, because otherwise he would have been sued. Nonetheless, Prince was so smart that through a phonemic effect (see J) he managed to say the initials of the woman and thus give subtle hints about the woman’s identity. Moreover, what impressed me about the song is the drumline which is in my opinion phenomenal. The striking background vocals also caught my attention because, after some research, I found out that the voice we hear belongs to the rockstar and Prince’s fellow artist Lenny Kravitz’s. Two geniuses in one song are there anything more iconic?
Last but not least, my favorite song on the album is Gold. I love this masterpiece with every cell of my body. The meaning and the message this song is delivering are so POWERFUL!! The deep meaning behind these uplifting lyrics is to be ourselves, be unique, and never follow the mass because “All that glitters ain’t gold”. We should never follow the crowd. Not everything the crowd does is gold, even if it looks like it. We should be ourselves and make a difference. We should take difficult roads and climb the highest mountains to see the top. There would be another method of interpretation. The majestic music video and the scribble slave across Prince’s face might be inferring another significance. Thus, I would assume that this song might be another protest but this time against Warner Bros since Prince was in the legal battle against record label. Indeed, the meaning of the song may apply well to that situation. As a matter of fact, Prince might be inferring that even if contracts with a record company look like gold, in reality, they just glitter that tie the artists to a condition of slavery. Anyways, the arrangement also deserves attention. Indeed, the chorus of the song goes “All that glitters ain’t gold” and in my opinion, the arrangement of the keyboard is extremely peculiar and well related to this bit of the lyrics. First, it is important to say that the keyboard is dominating and I also think it is important to pay attention to its arrangement. As I could see from the music sheet, the arrangement is characterized by high notes which are raised by the key signature after the clef. Indeed, this song is arranged in D major which means that the arrangement contains 2 sharps and the arrangement is written like this :
This also means that all the already high notes on the staff are raised one tone. Now you might be asking: what is the point she is trying to make? what does this have to do with Prince? I am aware that the logic behind this might seem odd, but I will get to the point of this. As I said, this song’s composition is characterized by a range of middle-high notes. As Prince was musically educated, I am quite sure that the composition of this masterpiece and its arrangement, have a deep connection with the lyrics. Indeed, I would assume that Prince might have opted for this arrangement to enhance the meaning of this beautiful masterpiece. The chorus of this song goes “all that glitters ain’t gold” and in the music video we can see Prince being “showered” with a rain of golden glitters, therefore this recurring topic might be what connects the lyrics to the arrangement of the song. As a matter of fact, when we think about glitters, especially a rain of glitter we might associate this with a particular sound which most likely might be characterized by some high tinkling sound. This is exactly the effect Prince aimed to create with this magistral arrangement. Those middle-high notes I mentioned have the peculiarity of creating this beautiful effect that is the sound of glitter tinkling, which is even more enhanced by the music video.
The release of Emancipation marked Prince’s definitive end of the partnership with the record label Warner Bros. It was the artist’s 19th studio album and probably one of my favorites. From the self-explanatory title, it is quite evident that Prince was still fighting against WB for his rights. However, not only is this work featuring protest songs but also some covers and some love songs where the artist expresses his affection for his former wife Mayte Garcia. Through some well thought and precise details, Prince’s personal touch is quite evident in this project. Indeed, this is a triple album and each album is consisting of 12 songs. Each album lasts exactly 60 minutes. Hence, the accuracy and the precision behind this masterpiece are quite impressive. In fact, the artist had an explanation for this, as he explained in several interviews, this was based on his studies of ancient Egypt and Egyptians: “The building of the pyramids and how the pyramids were related to the constellations. They were a message from the Egyptians about how civilization really started."
Among the most significant songs on this masterpiece we can find: The Holy River, Slave, The Love We Make, and the homonymous Emancipation.
The first song mentioned is The Holy River. Through these exceedingly deep lyrics, we can infer that the artist went through a major spiritual shift. More precisely, the Holy River might be a metaphor that might be symbolizing the baptism. Indeed, if my guessing is correct, this metaphor will be perfect with the general meaning of the song as being baptized also means the beginning of a new life, which is what Prince experienced with this major spiritual shift.
Let's go down 2 the holy river
If we drown then we'll be delivered
U can still see the picture upon the wall
One eye staring at nothing at all
The other one trying 2 focus through all your tears
U can try and try but there's nothin' 2 hide
U can't run from yourself and what's inside
U got 2 find the answers 2 the questions that U most fear
So over and over U ask your soul
Why'd U come down 2 a world so cold?
And the voice inside says 2night the truth will be told
Also, the chorus of the song is quite eloquent as Prince is providing a detailed explaining of how he went through a dark moment in his life where he was struggling to find answers, where he was afraid to look inside of himself and to find the truth and the answers.
U surrounded yourself with all the wrong faces
Spending your time in all the wrong places
Puttin' your faith in things that only make U cry
People say they love U when they wanna help
But how can they when U can't help yourself?
The more they say they love U, the more U just wanna die
So here we go again, the self-analysis
Have another glass of Port and uh... forget this
The band's playin' at the club 2night and they're bound 2 groove
Also, these lines are quite eloquent, and I think there is no need for some further explanation. These are practically a description of the troubles he went through and how lonely and hopeless he felt during that time of his life and how he managed to survive.
There U are, U think U're high
U can't ask yourself cuz U'd only lie
If U had a dollar 4 every time U tried
U can't call nobody cuz they'll tell U straight up
Come and make love when U really hate 'em
Relationships based on the physical are over and done
They're over and done (They're over and done)
U'd rather have fun
With only one, with only one
Only one... one (one)
Again, in these lines, the artist is describing what he went through. In the last 5 lines, we can notice that a major spiritual shift was occurring and thus the positive change the artist went through Indeed, in the next lines, the artist describes how he started to change after he realized that God was by his side.
And then it hit 'cha like a fist on a wall
Who gave U life when there was none at all?
Who gave the sun permission 2 rise up every day? (Ooh, oh yes)
Let me tell it (Go'n)
If U ask God 2 love U longer
Every breath U take will make U stronger
Keepin' U happy (happy) and proud 2 call His name (Go'n and say it)
Jesus (Jesus)
And over and over U ask your soul
Why'd U come down 2 a world so cold?
And the voice inside said 2night the truth will be told
And this time I was listening, hear me
As a matter of fact, as I mentioned, these lines explain, perfectly a time of transition when the artist was evolving and changing. In the next lines, the artist describes the moments after the spiritual shift took place.
Let's go down 2 the holy river
If we drown then we'll be delivered (Yes we will)
If we don't then we'll never see the light (No)
If U die before U try
U'll have 2 come back and face the light (Oh yes)
When U believe it, U got a good reason 2 cry (Oh my, my)
So I went on down 2 the holy river
I called my girl and told her I had something 2 give her
I asked her 2 marry me and she said yes, I cried
Oh, that night I drowned in her tears and mine
And.. and instead of a glass of sorrow and wine
Looking back y'all, I don't miss nothing except the time
And when I see that picture up on the wall
The one eye staring at nothing at all
My eyes trying 2 focus but these are much different tears
Oh, yes they are
Like the end of a beautiful story, these last lines, are the conclusion of this masterpiece that closes with a “happy ever after”. Indeed, in these last lines, the artist compares the act of going down to the holy river to facing the light which means a new beginning, a new life. In these last 9 lines, the artist describes the exact moment when he proposed to his girlfriend to marry him. He then reconnects to the beginning of the song where he cried tears of sorrow while at the end of this story he said to be crying “much different tears” which perhaps might be tears of happiness. Moreover, musically speaking, the arrangement of this song is quite homogenous except for the very last bars. After the artist finishes performing the lyrics, he reprises the main harmonies and performs them with a guitar and piano solo, then adding a choir that performs the background vocals with some light head voices that recall the angels singing. These last bars are played in such a manner that reflects the feeling of the artist: joy, love, relief, ultimate happiness. All the emotions a person who has experienced a major spiritual shift will feel. Furthermore, I have also noticed a shift in the instrumental. At the beginning of this masterpiece, the instrumental is “softer” and the sound of the instruments is kept lower. This happens for the first part of the song where Prince describes what he experienced when he was going through a difficult time. Then, after the artist sings these lines: “ Relationships based on the physical are over and done
They're over and done (They're over and done)
U'd rather have fun
With only one, with only one
Only one... one (one) “
it is extremely evident that the instrumental changes. Indeed, Prince turns up the volume of the instruments which are in my opinion, also joyously played, like he is telling his listener “listen to me, this is my story, I Am happy, and you should be too”.
Another song that I totally love is Slave. This is, in my opinion, such an ingenious masterpiece and we can hear how Prince took inspiration from the whole work songs genre. With the forthright message of the song, Prince was still raising awareness about how record companies exploited artists, hence he wrote this powerful masterpiece, a protest song, to release all his rage and frustration.
Everybody keeps trying to break my heart
Everybody except for me
I just want a chance to play the part
The part of someone truly free
From its chorus, this song is extremely eloquent. Prince is basically protesting against his enemies who most likely would be record companies and perhaps, as he mentioned in the 4th line
“My enemies kept it turning, but now they pound the gavel
And judging me accordingly, I know, I know”
those who judge him for commencing a legal fight against record companies. However, I am quite sure that this masterpiece is a protest song crafted to vent and raise awareness about the condition artists had to stay under for an extremely long time which was treated as slaves. In support of my theory, I would report these lyrics:
Slowly candle burns, where'd they learn hypnosis?
How'd they keep me under for so long?
Break the bread I earn, just keep me far from closest
I need their kind to illustrate what's wrong - what's wrong?
Well, I'll tell you they just keep trying to break my heart
They just keep trying to break my heart, ow!
From the second line, it is quite clear that those who kept the artist under and broke the bread he earned might have been the record companies, particularly Warner Bros, that contractually forced Prince to produce his music and kept a big part of his earnings OF THE MUSIC HE PRODUCED, HIS OWN MUSIC. Another interpretation of this line might be that Warner Bros owned the rights of PRINCE’S MUSIC. Therefore, the artist did not have the rights of his own music which should have been HIS OWN. Moreover, as Prince explained in several interviews when he asked the record company for the rights of HIS MUSIC back, they just said no. This might explain well this line as the record label by not giving him his rights back kept Prince far from emancipating, and hence the artist just left Warner Bros and started his own record company. Moreover, what left me speechless and mesmerized, in total awe about this MASTERPIECE, is the instrumental and the music genre Prince chose to craft this MONUMENTAL PIECE OF ART. Why did Prince choose to give this masterpiece the title of Slave and what music genre could suit well a song with this eloquent title? Obviously, a work song with some soul influences. Indeed, what amazed me is that this masterpiece is crafted as a real work song. To understand this masterpiece better, I need to step back to the work song genre and explain some of their distinctive and relevant peculiarities. Work song is a music genre that was spread around the world (indeed there is more than just one type of work song, they were used all around the world), but focusing on Afro-American work songs, this music genre developed in America during slavery times between the xvii-xix century. This genre had several functions for instance: to coordinate the labor of a group of people working together, which improved the efficiency of the work, and to relieve the boredom of a tedious job, which improves the lives of the workers. Also, work songs were seldom used as an act of protest against the condition of slavery, injustice, and poverty. These songs were frequently sung by a leader followed by a choir. Additionally, to keep the rhythm of those chants, workers generally used their working tools or the stomping of their feet or they even clapped their hands. With this said as I would say that Slave by Prince is part of this music genre. Moreover, as we can hear, the beats of this masterpiece resemble the use of the tools used by slaves to create the rhythmic path to their chants. Another peculiarity that was taken after the music genre just mentioned, is the choir to which Prince was the lead singer. Indeed, the artist performs the main lines while the chorus is performed by the choir. This technique is called call and response which was quite typical in Afro-American work songs. Additionally, the emphatic and emotional and heartfelt performance the artist offered, makes it easy to sympathize with his pain, his rage, and his exhaustion.
Furthermore, one of my favorite songs on this album is The Love We Make. Such a breathtaking masterpiece. In my opinion, the meaning of this masterpiece is quite hermetic. Indeed, just by reading the lyrics, it might not be clear what Prince meant with those words. However, It is widely believed that this song might have been produced to remember Jonathan Melvoin, Susannah, and Wendy’s brother, who died from heroin overdose. Melvoin was a musical child prodigy who worked with Prince on several projects and he also collaborated with some punk bands. It is believed that this song is dedicated to him for several reasons: the first one is the year he passed away which was 1996, secondly, and most importantly because the artist described the song as “written to speak to the spirit of a friend lost to drugs”. Moreover, in the liner notes to the Emancipation 1996 LP, the song is described as “written for a lost friend”. Hence, for all these reasons, this song is believed to be about Jonathan Melvoin. This is perhaps one of the most powerful and inspiring songs in Prince’s vault, truly breathtaking. With the reassuring yet preaching lyrics the artist was delivering an enlightening message: no matter how difficult life might be, there is still hope and we should all be grateful for the miracle and the gift God gave us.
Happy is the way 2 meet your burdens
No matter how heavy or dark the day
Pity on those with no hope 4 2morrow
It’s never as bad as it seems until we say
As I mentioned, specifically in these lines Prince is encouraging the listener to be happy and full of hope no matter what, condemning those who do not have hope in the future as things are never as bad as they seem.
Precious is the baby with a mother
That tells him that his savior is coming soon
All that believe will cleanse and purify themselves
Put down the needle, put down the spoon
Even though these lines are quite hermetic and enigmatic I will attempt to give a proper explanation. The artist is mentioning a baby and his mother, and the mother telling the baby that his savior is coming soon. Hence, as Prince was extremely spiritual and had a great, broad, and keen knowledge of the Bible and the Gospel, I would assume that these two lines are related to the Scriptures. The logic behind this might seem odd, but I will attempt to get to the point with a proper explanation. As Prince was fascinated by the ancient Egyptian world, as it is evident from the set up of the songs on the album, I would assume that these lines are connected to two biblical figures. Honestly, at first, before doing my research, I was going to assume that Prince was alluding to Jesus Christ and the Holy Mary. However, the biblical figures he was hinting to, were instead Moses and his mother Jochebed. For those who are not familiar with the Scripture, Jochebed to avoid the mass slaughter of Hebrew boys, and therefore, her son to be brutally killed, she set her baby adrift in the Nile River, hoping someone would find him and raise him. God so worked that her baby was found by Pharaoh's daughter. Jochebed even became her own son's nurse. Then, God used Moses mightily, to free the Hebrew people from their 400 years of slavery and took them to the Promised Land. Although little is written about Jochebed in the Bible, her story speaks powerfully to mothers of today. Hence, the connection between those two lines of the song and the biblical figures is quite clear. Moreover, as the title of the album is Emancipation and one of the topics of this masterpiece is the artist’s rebellion against Warner Bros, which forced him to work in a condition of slavery, Moses's story who freed Hebrews from slavery and took them to the Promised Land, might apply quite well to Prince’s story who fought to free himself from Warner Bros and start his own record company. Moreover, with the following two lines Prince is suggesting that by believing in God we are purifying and cleansing themselves. As regards to the last line, as I mentioned, is what created the widespread belief that this masterpiece might have been dedicated and inspired by Jonathan Melvoin. In addition to that, on the album, there are not reported the full lyrics of the song, but just one line of it which is precisely “Put down the needle, put down the spoon” and on the bottom line we can find “Written 4 a lost friend.” which hints even more to Jonathan Melvoin. Again, referring to the line I just mentioned, Prince is using another tone to sing these words. Indeed, if we listen to the song attentively, we would hear how the artist was preaching against drug addiction. Furthermore, the next lines, are extremely well related to the previous one.
Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing, oh
While seeking 2 give thanks 4 every breath we take, oh
Blessed are we inside this prayer
4 in the new world, we will be there
With these lines, Prince is encouraging the listener to be grateful for the gift of life, giving thanks for every breath we take, praying God without asking him for anything but rather praying him with gratitude for the gift of life. In the last two lines, Prince is basically telling the listener that those who pray God, believe in Him, and have faith in Him, will be blessed with a “new world” which is the Kingdom of Heaven. The last lines of the song are the chorus.
The only love there is, is the love we make {x2}
(the only love there is, is the love we make)
Only love there is, only love there is
The only love there is, is the love we make (yeah)
The only love there is, is the love we make
These lines repeated four times like a beautiful monumental hymn, are used to teach a vital lesson: the only thing that matters is the love we give out, the love we spread while we are alive. That is to say, this is the ultimate purpose of life: to give love and being grateful for the gift of life. Furthermore, as regards the arrangement of this masterpiece, it was crafted in such a way that it allowed the artist to use a preaching tone during the interpretation. This peculiarity in the performance of the song is even more enhanced at the end of the masterpiece. Indeed, when the artist performs the lines that begin with “Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing”, he changed the vocal register from a light chest voice to a powerful head voice which also gives more power to the words he was singing turning them into a real preach. The shift of vocal register in this particular bit of the song is also extremely effective as the artist is singing out loud such an important lesson that MUST be heard by everyone. Perhaps Prince has put so much emphasis on these magistrally written lines because this is the fulcrum of the song that everyone must listen to carefully. Additionally, if we listen to Prince’s voice attentively, we will hear some slight shifts in the intention put in the performance. As regards to the instrumental, the Artist opted for a slow ballad in 4/4. Although the choice of a slow ballad, the song is reinforced by guitar, drums, and piano. Additionally, while I was listening to this masterpiece, I realized that the instrumental is characterized by a progressive raising of the tonality of the song. This way, the instrumental was raised by 2 octaves. This characteristic, besides making this masterpiece even more effective and turning it into a beautiful and inspiring preach, gives the listener the idea of a beautiful climb that gets straight to heaven. Personally, whenever I listen to this masterpiece, I feel like I’m watching a beautiful sunset or hiking in the mountains. Moreover, the arrangement is mostly characterized by music accidentals, which in my opinion are an extremely important part of the composition of the song since without them the song would not be perceived as a powerful preach.

Twisted, tangled, wicked, sick.
... That is how I felt when I actually finished that article. Heaven help me...
The 12th of July is the beginning of a new era for gothic rock trio from Massachusetts - PVRIS.
Last Friday the band introduced to the world their debut single "Death Of Me" from an upcoming third album. They also released a thrilling music video for the song.
New sound, same energy.
Death Of Me was supposed to be a new rock hit but surprisingly turned out to be the dance hit instead. Many fans were confused, some were in panic that the band switched to another genre, others were slightly shocked. But everyone agreed that the song with the video alongside are something out of this world.
Evolution of sound isn't surprising, the frontwoman Lynn Gunn is known to collaborate with pop and dance artists such as Seven Lions, TBMA and some others, so the electronics that fully replased live instruments is something we could see coming.
Anyways, the band is staying true to themselves, judging by the themes and overall vibe of their new song.
Death Of Me definitely has strong old-PVRIS vibes: the lyrics are still dark and sinister and the video is moody and ominous.
In the song Lynn tells us the story of obsessive love. Obsessive, passionate and dangerous love. Or dedication. It's still a mystery whether she's referring to her love relationship or to something else. Gunn likes to hide things in plane sight, so her love life would've been too easy to refer. The song kinda reminds me of Florence & The machine's Pure Feeling, in which Florence Welch speaks about her dedication to fans and vice versa. The metaphor fits just right to that theory.
Let's speak straightforward here, fans are the best promotion machine of any artist. We can suffocate or let them breath, we can literally be the death of them, because fans are the ones who put an artist on a pedestal and fans can kick them back down. It also reminds me of something else. Something more important and global. But I will leave that thoughts for later in the article.
The music video here is another story but also is an adding to that theory. I'll talk about it more below.
First, let's take a closer look at all the mysteries in the vid.
youtube
The biblical theme is the one we notice first of all, it's very simple, and there is a reason of that obviousness. While fans are building logical connections with the first visual metaphor of the seduction of Eve by the devil in a snake's appearance with the song lyrics and then enjoying passionate sequences and the cult initiation, the most interesting metaphors are carefully hidden. The devil is in the details, guys.
The storyline of the video is built on hidden metaphors. Some of them may or may not be intentional, maybe I just built logical connections where there is none but you surely will find my observations interesting.
The seduction and the forbidden fruit are not the only symbols from the Bible. We can see the new members of cult going through initiation. But have you noticed that all of them are of different races? There are black people, asians and white people. It got to me when I wondered about the symbolism of the pyramid formed by the cultists with our trio in the heart of it - which is also may be symbolic and may represent the three ascendants of Noah (or is it too complicated? It may be unintentional). Here we've got the Tower of Babel metaphor.
Next on - the red aquarium. I've already said in a comment section for the video on YouTube that aquarium represents the falling of Adam and Eve from heaven. It's a small piece but key one, keep that in mind.
Now, remember the line in the song "I'm falling, fading, and seeing angels". This line is not just the reference to Demon Limbs. Everyone has noticed that the band made a colorful music video. And the colors in it were not chosen randomly. The band and everyone in the sequence dressed in white instead of classical culty black wearing. Knowing of the falling from heaven metaphor in the video and connecting it to the line from the song we've got our "angels" Lynn talks about. And that's not all of it.
The Tower of Babel in the Bible is known to represent a kind of an act of rebellion against God. The whole cult sequense symbolizes that at some point. The initiation almost completely recreates the holy communion. This, overall, may represent the creation of the alternative religion as a counterweight to the original one and creating their own kind of heaven on Earth, which for some may look more like hell. But that's, my friends, is parallax. Another reference to song lyrics.
And my favorite metaphor, which is also pretty simple but hidden in plain sight. The whole song with its dark, seductive, even erotic, at some poin, vibes is a hint, not to count pretty obvious visualisations in the video.
Lust. The most pleasant one of all deadly sins. Tangled bodies moving rhythmically to the heartbeat and everyone's in rapture. Passionate, isn't it? I mentioned hell lately on purpose. "One man's hell is another's God, it's all about perspective, a parallax". Lynn Gunn surely knows how to play with words and the visuals.
The storyline starts at the actual end of the music video. Why not the snake sequence? You may ask. In fact, it all begun with a snake and an apple, right?
Like I've said, the colors chosen for the video are not accidental. Red color symbolizes not only passion but also hell. And it is known that Eve was in heaven at the moment of seduction. Which led me to conclusion where the story actually begins. And the pyramid sequence is an actual end (which is to be continued).
The ones, who were fallen and forbidden to come back to heaven gardens for they've sinned, united and built their own garden on Earth and they rule it like God rules heavens.
They've sinned at God's perspective, yet they see it as holy communion from theirs.
Now let's come back to my theory of the song's meaning. Why I think it may be about the fans and something more global.
The first time I've watched and listened to the music video, it kinda reminded me of Britney Spears. Let me explain this absurd. Britney's fame became hell for her in mid-2000's. We all remember that.
That's one piece.
In 2011 Spears released a music video for the song Till The World Ends.
youtube
The sequences in that video at some point are repeated in Death Of Me: it caught my attention the second I've seen tangled bodies in a rhytmic movement. In Britney's video the storyline's mostly situated underground, where everyone is dying of the hell of a heat, and the colors in both videos are similar, also the dance-y vibe in the darkness of the underground kinda the same. That's the piece no2.
And the dance with a snake was Britney's most iconic performance back in 200(5?). That's the 3rd one.
Not only the music video led me here. Lynn's "You're a cold-blooded killer only after dark but I don't mind" also reminded me of Britney's song Criminal.
Yes, that all may be just coincidence, because "why the fck Britney Spears? Nothin' in common".
And that's when the song lyrics come up and make sense of all of it. Again, the line about hell in perspective, the line about a noose around Lynn's neck or a poison, the line about danger. I've thought about Britney Spears because she is the best example of what the pressure of huge responsibility for fanbase and fame in general can do to people. Break them, suffocate and be the death of them.
We know that coincidences are not accidental, not with PVRIS. Lynn's metaphors have always been much deeper than it has seemed, so I guess that's a good and well argumented theory.
And don't you think that it's finished. There's more.
Death Of Me also wasn't chosen to be the debut single by accident. From all written above, the song is a perfect metaphor itself for the band's prevous album. All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell. Which makes it a great bridge between what we already know and what is soon to be released. My guess is we're about to find out more about heaven and get something else from hell.
I've done pretty heavy work in analyzing everything, and trust me, it was hell. But I enjoyed every hour of it. Twisted, huh?
P. S. While writing a draft to the article I couldn't decide whose name to place in a metaphor with the snake, so at first I wrote "devil's seduction of Eve/Lynn" and accidentally found this strange reference. EVELYNN. Two names, Eve and Lynn, in one Evelynn. And Lynn as Eve in the video. And Evelynn short names are both Eve and Lynn.. Damn, I confused it even more.
Update:
My brain almost exploded yesterday while writing all this. The article is so loaded with information, so I desided not to mention some symbols. Today, as I had a good night of sleep (after very brutal insomnia issues) I realized that the analysis can't be completed without those little details.
The names puzzle above is one of them but I mannaged to put it somehow anyway.
There are several more things to say about symbolism though. One of the them is obvious and everyone noticed it from the start but not everyone is aware of the meaning of that metaphor.
Not all of us know how to read tarot cards, me included. The representation of a tarot card "Three of Swords" - the knives Lynn, Brian and Alex pierced an apple with.
The card's meaning is a heartbreak, sorrow, grief, pain caused by someone's words or actions. It also has a meaning of emotional release and a reminder that the dark clouds building above your head will disappear and take the pain away with it.
The scene of stabbing the apple by the trio most likely symbolizes their expression of that pain and releasing it the moment the apple is pierced.
There is also a colorful symbol which is not that easy to acknowledge but is also put right in front of our sight. I had this thought since the first time I watched the video but didn't bring much attention to it. I came back to it after looking in to flowers handbook.
The flowers on the table in the music video are white lenagolds. Why lenagolds? Why not roses or lilies?
The christian legends say that lenagolds turned up on Earth with the walking of messiah. The Mother's tears that fallen when Jesus carried his cross turned into lenagolds.
Basic meaning of lenagolds is love and devotion. The definition of white lenagolds is sincerity and purity of feelings, loyalty, gratitude and luck.
Note that the flowers laying on the cult's joint table, which also may symbolize the band's devotion and love for the fanbase.
There is another hidden symbol I noticed but didn't manage to solve. Maybe some of you have thoughts on that?
When the cultists stand in two rows facing one another, at first I thought they carried flowers, this scene was really glimpse, so I played it in slow motion. They carried busts.
Not sure what that means, because I can't see whose busts there are, what I'm sure of is that this scene is related to a short shot of a woman's head with bloody tear streaking. Maybe that also reffers to that legend with lenagolds?
Anyways, thank you for reading! I hope you made it down here and I didn't waste your time
If you liked it, please reblog. Would be much appreciated!
