Simsville
Ever since I saw grandelama’s Simsville, I knew I had to play it. So, I downloaded it the other day and after getting all the CC squared away, installed it. It is so much fun revisiting the world of the Sims 1. Every time I open a lot, I remember how I used to play it. And I remember all the things I miss from those earlier Sims games.
Anyway, I’ve been visiting all the lots, and making a few changes to some of them – much the same way I did when I played the originals in TS1. So, I thought I’d share a couple today.
This first one is Custer’s Market. When I opened it, I was like, “OMG! It’s just like I remember it!” But I can never leave well-enough alone, so, yes, I’ve made a few changes to it. First thing I did, was age the siding on the house – because that’s what I do. I like my worlds to show some wear-and-tear and grunge.
Then, I traded out some deco objects for functioning stuff that came with some of the later store sets. And since this is a farmer’s market, I decided to switch out the plants in that spot where the chickens now are.
Inside the building, I decided to switch out stuff and put in that canning thingie.
And in the garden, I traded out some of the basegame plants for ones that came with later sets. Ditto with the orchard. Plus I added the beehives. Still miss Claire Bear. She was forever stealing my honey in TS1.
Then I decided to check out one of my favorite families – the Hicks. When you open the lot, it looks just like Maxis had it back in the day. Pristine house, but messy yard. Well, back when I played this family I always grunged the house up. After all, these Sims are dirt poor – ever since Mama lost all of her Miss SimCity winnings to her Psychic Phone friend. So, I did the same thing with this build. Plus, I gave them some lawn chairs, so that they can enjoy their flea-infested lot.
Then I took Mama into CAS and gave her some curlers and a cigarette. She’s a class act! BTW, she looks a bit more haggard in-game. All wrinkly.
And here’s her son, Elden. Not sure why he decided to play for tips on a deserted lot, but he never was the brightest bulb in the chandelier. I know his bio says he wears a mechanic’s uniform and that’s how grandelama had him. But I decided to change his clothes a bit. I also fired him from his job at City Hall, and enlisted him in the army. He now gets to clean latrines!
After I got done with those 2, I hopped over to see what Ginia Kat was up to. And here she is, at the local basketball court, practicing a trick shot. This is before I took her into CAS. I have tons of CC clothes, and decided to upgrade her wardrobe a tad. I’ll show her to you all later.
Anyway, this is a fun world to explore. And the lot descriptions crack me up. I tend to write funny bios for my sims and my lots - just ask Tedhi! - so I am enjoying reading all of ones grandelama wrote.

But it is in the actual exercise of literacy as a tool and as a capacity that women face punishment, ostracization, exile, recrimination, the most virulent contempt. To read and be feminine simultaneously she reads Gothic romances, not medical textbooks; cookbooks, not case law; mystery stories, not molecular biology. The language of mathematics is not a feminine language. She may learn astrology, not astronomy. She may teach grammar, not in vent style or originate ideas. She is permitted to write a little book about neurotic women, fiction or nonfiction, if the little book is trite and sentimental enough; she had better keep clear of philosophy altogether. In fiction, she had better be careful not to overstep the severe limits imposed by femininity.
“This then,” wrote Virginia Woolf, “is another incident, and quite a common incident in the career of a woman novelist. She has to say I will wait. I will wait until men have become so civilised that they are not shocked when a woman speaks the truth about her body. The future of fiction depends very much upon what extent men can be educated to stand free speech in women.”
The constraint is annihilation: language that must avoid one’s own body is language that has no place in the world. But speaking the truth about a woman’s body is not the simple explication of body parts—it is instead the place of that particular body in this particular world, its value, its use, its place in power, its political and economic life, its capacities both potentially realized and habitually abused.

I don't know a damn thing about the plot of groundhog day but I'm really liking the characters so would you mind explaining the plot to me?
oh wow, of course! thank you so much for the interest, and i’m glad to hear you’re liking the characters! i love talking about this story, haha.
Setting
The story is split between two worlds; Fields of Fara, and Fara Falls. both worlds are set within a rpg fantasy game, currently suffering from heavy glitches. Fields of Fara is the original game - a traditional, classic fantasy with bards, knights, beasts, and a kingdom heavily influenced by sweets and candy. Fara Falls is the “gritty reboot”, taking place in a timeline where the kingdom has fallen into disarray, a literal kill or be killed world.
Base Plot
before the story begins, Fara is hit by what’s known as the First Glitch. this sets the world into a “groundhog day” style time loop - constantly resetting itself, over, and over, and over again. only certain characters are capable of remembering the time loops - Blue, Red, Midnight, and Aba. others recall flashes in the form of strange feelings or nightmares. Locke is a mystery player - a secret waiting to be unfurled.
the First Glitch has been going on for sometime before the story begins.
a new glitch starts the story off, throwing Blue, a paladin and scientist and token idiot, into Fara Falls. at the same his “foil” (also known as his double, his other, or That Weird Guy), Red, a paladin that has lost his magic due to trauma, into Fields of Fara.
what begins as a simple quest to return home quickly turns into a drive to stop Queen Midnight from turning Fields of Fara into the same death riddled land as Fara Falls…and it’s far more difficult than one would originally think.
More Stuff
*Bolte is a knight from Fara Falls, General for the Royal Guard, and a main player in the game. it’s his house that Blue takes shelter in, and his PoV is one of the most spotted during the story. a wielder of bone and gravity magic who will do anything to keep Red alive - even if it means giving up all of himself in the process. watching him learn to live again is a driving force behind Arc Two.
*Locke is a knight in training from Fields of Fara, and the fourth “main player” in the game. a master of Good Intent and sarcasm, with a HEART so full of love it’s impossible not to smile when you talk to him. while he comes across as gawky and naive, Locke knows far more than he’s letting on…and it’s his strive to save the people he calls family that just might be his undoing.
*characters have access to Inventories, gain EXP if they kill someone, gain Levels if they get enough EXP, and have HP and HEARTs - which function as physical souls, of sorts.
*Captain is the leader of the guards in Fara Falls, a vicious crocodile woman with a soft spot for Bolte and a love for her country that goes far beyond the Queen. she might be serving Midnight now, but her ultimate goal is to overthrow the throne and try to bring some semblance of peace and Hope back into her world.
*Midnight is the Queen with cotton candy hair and a smile so sweet it’s near impossible not to love her. but everyone knows that sugar turns to rot, and there’s a deeper, darker secret behind her. (in fara falls, she has already succumbed to her level and her stolen coding, losing all sense of her original goal of a utopia and now simply striving to keep the kingdom hers) (in fields of fara, she is still researching the Code of the World, and is striving to create a kingdom that will never age, never know grief, and never die. and she will do anything to grant this peace to her citizens)
*there’s a large cast of background, minor, and reoccurring characters! these include Captain Polynya, the water elemental with an aquarium for her torso; Ginia, the royal gardener who finds herself drawn into a rebellion; Flame, the fire elemental who speaks only in Hands; and many, many more!
some of my most frequently used tags are
*ghd-writing
*ghd-moodboard
*ghd-important
*bolte-oc
*locke-oc
*locke-and-blue
*captain-oc
*groundhog-day
*bolte-and-blue (or switch blue with red)
and the most important thing to remember is that i am always, always more than happy to talk about them! i will answer the same question twenty times, for twenty different people, and never get tired of being able to write it up a different way! so if you want to know about a certain character, theme, or term, just let me know!

In other news, I've finally picked up again my original writing after 9 months of Clegan oblivion 🥹
I'm not gonna abandon either of them now, I'll find a way for them to co-exist in my silly old brain ♥️

Why be normal sad when you can be sad about the sufferings of made up people that you yourself made up and who are only suffering because you, their Creator, are making them suffer?

The funniest thing about the aftermath of MOTA on my brain is that Callum Turner was literally already living rent-free in my mind since 2019 because he's the face claim (or fancast, idk if that's the right term when I'm the only one who knows about the story lmao) for one character in my original novel. MOTA simply... gave him a bigger slot to occupy?

Thinking about inserting Bucky and Buck in the original novel I'm working on - not as themselves obviously but like. Two characters who embody them. Like a cameo or something.

Ginia, my heart!!!!
17, 32 and 32 for the writer questions ask game!
Hello! As per your request, I will answer to question 34 instead of 32 two times 😌🥰🥰
17. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
From start to finish or else I will lose ALL my motivation in a blink the moment I write the scenes I like the most, never going back to find the fillers/connecting scenes between them.
Worst case scenario I leave behind a [] with a comment, like [thing A/B should happen here] or [check if they haven't already talked about this, and if they have find something else to talk about here] but I will start and go to the end with no detours because I know myself very well, and I know I'd get lost in subplots and holes.
This being said, I do actually have one of the last scenes of my own original writing project already written and just waiting to be connected to the rest of the story — but it's the only exception and it serves as a motivation to complete the story to reach that moment!
32. How do you feel about smut?
Funny how you're asking me this when I've just finished spewing out 14k of filth for the Halloween special of my theatre au!
So, thoughts: at first I was utterly convinced I could never write it because it made me cringe. Like, I could picture she scenes perfectly in my head but if I tried to write them it would sound like an anatomy manual or something. Then I discovered this only happens when I write it in Italian, so no smut in my own stories but plenty of it in my fics!!
I'm not saying I'm especially good at it, sometimes I still get lost in practical matters (I think I've reinvented physics and human anatomy in the last thing I wrote lmao), and othersI feel I've been using "cock" or "moan" 100 times in the same sentence but I have fun writing it and that's all that matters to me.
34. What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
Very interesting question. I don't think I'd be able to write either because I feel my smut works only if with the filth there's also a lot of sweetness and love and good feelings in it — there are times when I'd just want them to get to the point but they keep waxing poetry about how much they love each other, for example.
I don't like reading of non-con because it doesn't make me feel at ease, and not in a good way. I like it if it happens and then the focus is on the characters having to deal with its aftermath because I love the character/relationship studies that come out of it, the angst, the guilt, the rejection, the whole difficult healing journey. But I don't like to read the sheer act of it because it really makes me feel bad (no judgement at all for those who like to read/write about it, this is my own personal taste).
I like the idea of dub-con but only up to a certain point, then it also gives me the creeps and I have to stop reading it. Luckily it doesn't happen often, I can stomach it better than pure non-con, but it's not my favorite so to speak. I like con-non-con though! I read a Clegan fic with it (I completely forgot the title) and it was really intriguing.
I love fluffy smut, angsty smut, filthy smut, psychological warfare smut (lmao), but I vastly prefer when consent is in the picture 😅
Thank you for you question dear ♥️♥️
