1960 #Epiphone#Coronet with extremely rare Bikini logo headstock, no "E" on the pickguard, and inked serial number, on top of a nicely worn (and excellent sounding) tweed 1959 #Fender#Super#amplifier.

Yesterday was the big, annual, @dlott6 / @chriswstringer8#UnionSound#Toronto Guitarpalooza Show & Tell Get-together, and here is the very first pic from the afternoon's festivities!

Though this was the most humble and least pricy of all the guitars that showed up to the event, it was my favourite! I have always had a thing for Coronets, even though I have never actually held one before yesterday (I have literally never seen one for sale around here in 12+ years of near constant guitar shopping!). Oh also, this one was an incredible 5 lbs! FIVE LBS!!!

I love this shot so much, and I'd LOVE to take credit for the art direction on it, but I just pushed the shutter release. The set up was 100% @michaelsegui's concept. Oh and the piano stool (for standing on), was provided by the studio (thanks Chris!). 😉

Just arrived for #gibsunday , an extremely rare 1931 Recording King Model 807 (Nick Lucas Style) Flat Top Acoustic Guitar made by Gibson in Kalamazoo Michigan! (Link in profile). - It was late 1930, the economy was collapsing everywhere. Gibson had parts and tooling set up to build their new improved large-body Nick Lucas Special, priced at $125. This very expensive deluxe flat top suddenly must have seemed VERY hard to sell as the Depression closed in. One solution? Assemble them with a plain headstock and no truss rod, spray them plain black and send them to Montgomery Ward to sell via mail-order catalog. #gibsunday time, #Burst edition #Murphy Lightly Aged R9 on the left and #Plaintop R8 on the right. Amazing how completely differently these two guitars sound and play, both exceptional, but quite unique. The R9 is wooly and wild, and vibrates forever. Well, it has been a while since I have had one of these in the house!

Just in time for #GibSunday, my buddy @tomgibson3783 goes and loans me his spectacular new 2014 #Gibson#LesPaul#R9. As if things couldn't get more exciting at Casa DeeBeeUs™ this weekend! 😆

This one has everything I want in a Les Paul burst reissue. It is lightweight (in the low 8 lb zone) and has a full, but not fat neck (like the fat necks on R7s, for example), and for me, the finish has the perfect blend of warm yellows, reds, and browns. The other thing I love about it is that it has grain and flame, but unlike a lot of the OTT tops these days, the flame is quite subtle. I find this one looks very "real". Oh and the action is super low and it sounds amazing too!

Great acquisition Tom! It may be from the Gibson's "pre-Agnesi" dark age era, but it's a keeper! 😉
