SET SIXTEEN - ROUND ONE - MATCH THREE

"Memorial to a Marriage" (2002 - Patricia Cronin) / “The Island” (2009 - Walton Ford)

MEMORIAL TO A MARRIAGE: This is a very skilled piece, and there are all these little details, like the blanket over the couple, and the way their feet touch. And it's the artist and her (now) wife - made in a time when they couldn't marry. As a lesbian I can acknowledge that marriage is not the 'end all, be all' of gay rights, but this makes me feel a lot of things and I could stare at it for hours. (@beelzeblogging)

THE ISLAND: I first saw this in a museum when I was 12 and it completely wrecked my brain. Art about extinction has a major pull to me and this is probably the genesis of that. At the time as a pre-teen I was both horrified and allured by this work and its violence and vulgarity, but also the delicate beauty inherent to the thylacine. There's a sort of latticework to all of the spindly interlacing limbs and tails. I think this is a piece of art that wears its meaning on its sleeve but it communicates the horror and tragedy of human-driven extinction in such a potent and wordless way that it doesn't feel heavy handed to me. This topic makes me feel guilt and despair, the intensity of wish makes me feel like I'm being crushed within machinery, and this is sort of an organic crushing machine, which I think exemplifies that feeling. I think about this painting all of the time and I love it very much. (@catboyclarity)

("Memorial to a Marriage" is a mortuary sculpture made of carrera marble measuring 27 x 42 x 84 inches (69 x 107 x 213 cm) and weights three tons. It is located Woodlawn Cemetery, Brooklyn. Artist Patricia Cronin modeled the sculpture after herself and her wife Deborah Kass before same sex marriage was legal in the United States. It has been exhibited in over 50 locations and there are bronze versions in permanent collections of various museums, including the National Portrait Gallery.

"The Island" is a watercolour triptych by Walton Ford. Panel 1 measures 95 ½ in. x 36 in. (242.6 cm x 91.4 cm), panel 2: 95 ½ in. x 60 in. (242.6 cm x 152.4 cm), and panel 3: 95 ½ in. x 36 in. (242.6 cm x 91.4 cm). It is held by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.)

He said he was “too fired up” then and now rehashing it, and will probably regret talking about it, but “that’s what happened.”

16. He says he wrestled the match for Joe, referee Paul Turner, Lynn who was the agent on the match, and the fans. But he knew it was his last time wrestling Joe, and in the company.

17. He hasn’t spoken to Khan since backstage at Wembley when he quit. He didn’t do anything to make him fear for his life, as Khan said when announcing Punk’s firing on Dynamite, but Punk sayd “he is who he is.” He believes there was a “concerted effort to try to slander [him] and try to ruin [his] character.”

18. Spreading “rumors and lies and bullshit” was the genesis of all his issues at AEW. He thinks it might have been jealousy or envy, but doesn’t understand why anyone would try to dim the star of the company’s top guy.

19. Punk says his remarks at the post-All In scrum weren’t planned, but when he saw “reporters” there who are friends with other wrestlers and who wrote things about him without checking with him, it set him off. He does say it’s in his “top three CM Punk promos”, though.

20. There was nothing it the scrum that Khan hadn’t heard before. Punk doesn’t think he can talk about what happened afterwards. Confirms he is referring to Brawl Out, but says he “didn’t have to sign an NDA for anything I did wrong.” He has nothing he wanted to hide, but Khan wanted him to sign an NDA — he doesn’t know why.

21. As to why he did agree to come back, “I have a lot of friends there”, and Khan wasn’t going to let him go. Rather than sit at home, he thought he’d try to “get some guys together and have some fun shows.”

22. Asked if there’s anything he’s proud of from his time in AEW, he says he made a lot of friends and got to a lot of “cool shit” — specifically mentioning getting to work with Sting. “I think the positives outweigh the negatives”.

23. He talks about attending an indie show recently and telling someone that what happens there works at that level, as evidenced by it selling out an arcade bar, “but that shit doesn’t fly on national television — I think that’s being proven right now.”

He has a very expressive face, many people have noted. Though he cannot verbalize his thoughts now, he can convey them through the means of physical emotion.

Though very, very quiet in ways other than his… lack of a voice, Ernest is quite passionate once you get to know him! He finds great passion in what he's good at, and is easily flustered by those — Lizzie, especially — who compliment him for his talents.

It's best to not get ahead of oneself with Ernest, however. He's actually rather sensitive, over-emotional to such a degree that he can't help but shed a few acid tears every now and then; and no matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to maintain control of them.

Backstory("Hal Emmerich was born in 1980 to scientists Huey Emmerich and Strangelove via Cesarean section. Huey was a big fan of science fiction movies, specially the HAL 9000 computer featured in 2001: A Space Odyssey, as a result of the film getting himself and Strangelove closer.

Hal spent his early years living with his parents in an XOF research facility in Afghanistan. He ended up being considered by his father for use as a test subject for Metal Gear Sahelanthropus, as its cockpit was so small that only a child could pilot it. This resulted in a huge falling out between Hal's parents. Strangelove vehemently disagreed with Huey's proposition.

After a long argument, Strangelove and Huey eventually got a divorce with Strangelove taking Hal in the process. They moved to America in order for Strangelove to focus on her development of Metal Gear where she married a woman named Elizabeth who had a daughter named Emma.

Hal was homeschooled due to his interest and fixation on computers and, with his internet-based self studies, he was able to be accepted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his PhD at a young age. After attending MIT, he attended Princeton University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. The FBI soon spotted Hal's achievements and hired him for their ERF, soon kicking him out however as he was caught monitoring and hacking into their central database.

Eventually, Hal was hired by the defense contractor ArmsTech. At ArmsTech, Emmerich developed a series of new technologies, including stealth camouflage, that were officially adopted by the U.S. Army. Following this, he became the lead engineer for the Metal Gear REX project. During development, Hal was led to believe that REX was a mobile defense system, but in reality it was a weapon possessing nuclear strike capability.")}]

ARiSEN : GENESiS (아리센 : 창세기), often abbreviated as ARIGEN is a 8 member multinational south korean co-ed idol group under DeadSound Entertainment. the group consists of members; Vyjin, MORI, RiZE, anZ, ky, ZeNa, ACE, and CyPHER. they debuted on september 19, 2018 with mini album “ASCENSION” with the title track, “Hala Hala” and "SAY MY NAME". Personality:

Kiana was initially a boastful, overconfident, and somewhat 'idiotic' girl with a strong love for food. She was cheerful, always believing she could accomplish anything she set her mind to. Even when injured, she smiled through the pain and showered her friends with affection. Her carefree attitude and overconfidence often led her to make reckless decisions without hesitation, especially if it meant saving others, even at the cost of her own safety.

However, after the latest Honkai Eruption at the hands of the Herrscher of the Void—her other self—Kiana's personality changed dramatically. She matured into someone determined to end the Honkai once and for all. Haunted by the 2nd Herrscher and weighed down by guilt and depression, she became quieter, more serious, and thoughtful. Fearing that others might get hurt because of her, she believed if anyone had to suffer, it should be her. Around her friends, she frequently faked her cheerful attitude to prevent Bronya and Mei from worrying too much.

As she began training to master her Herrscher powers under Fu Hua, Kiana grew more withdrawn. When people avoided her out of fear, she chose to eat alone to avoid making them uncomfortable. Despite still being considerate, she rarely engaged in conversations or sought out friendships, a stark contrast to her earlier self, as she feared harming those around her.

During the events in the Theater of Domination, Kiana confronted the Herrscher of the Void and came to terms with the fact that both personalities within her were manifestations of Sirin. She gained full control of her body and Herrscher powers. Despite the hardships and horrors caused by her other self, Kiana chose to move forward with renewed resolve, determined to fight for the beauty of the world and to honor the legacy left to her by Himeko.

Throughout the Finality arc, Kiana showed tremendous growth, facing countless challenges alongside her friends. Her resolve to surpass the Honkai and find a better solution than her great-grandfather's Project STIGMA became even stronger, as she refused to sacrifice humanity.

After becoming the Herrscher of Finality, Kiana regained much of her original cheerfulness, returning to her playful self while maintaining the maturity she had gained over the years of battling the Honkai. She wielded her powers responsibly, but wasn’t above using them to pull pranks for fun. Her life became more peaceful, and she was finally honest with Bronya, Mei, and the others, no longer needing to maintain a false front.

Trivia:

-Kiana is really intelligent, with an impressive IQ of 180, but she tends to have a short attention span. Her real strength isn't so much in book learning, but more in her street smarts. She's good at coming up with ideas quickly and thinking outside the box, especially when usual solutions don't work. A great example of this was in Chapter 22, where she cleverly saved Fu Hua from having to make a big sacrifice. It really showed how fast she can think and solve problems when it's important.

-Kiana often jokes about being 'dead inside' or wanting to die, which is her way of dealing with negative feelings. She's actually grateful when her friends like Bronya, Mei and Theresa call her out on these jokes. It shows that they care, and it gives her a way to let out some of that inner darkness in a lighter, more manageable way. They get that she's just trying to cope and are there for her, which really means a lot to Kiana.
