Aloe Garden | Lotusland, Montecito, CA

Winter months find Lotusland's Aloe Garden filled with spectacular red, yellow, and orange flowers, accompanied by the buzz of hummingbirds. Our visit still held a number of blooms despite late March being the end of the season. Lotusland's spectacular garden contains more than 160 Aloe species.

Notable members of the collection: Aloe marlothii, A. salm-dyckiana, A. confusa, A. lutescens, A. elgonica, A. barberae, A. dichotoma, A. plicatilis, and A. ramosissima. The garden also festures specimens of the gru-gru palm Acrocomia aculeata) and a ponytail palm (Beaucarnea stricta).

The shallow crescent-shaped pool pictured is one of Lotusland's most recognizable features. The original pool dates to when Erastus and Marie Gavit owned the property (1915-1939). Madame Ganna Walska converted it into a white-bottomed pond lined with abalone shells and fed by fountains made of giant South Pacific clam shells.

Bárhol elboldogul, olyan félelem és görcs nélkül él a világban, ami lenyűgöző. Már vagy 25 éve él Magyarországon, azóta nem dolgozik, az angliai meg olaszországi ingatlanok kiadásából éldegélnek. Egyedül nevelte a gyerekeit. 25 év ide vagy oda, nem igazán értem a magyarját, de tudunk beszélgetni. A beszédénél jobban értem őt magát, jobb barátságba is kerültünk, őszinte lelkesedéssel tudom nézni őt, az életszemléletét. Boldogan újságolta, hogy megnézte, és egy órányira leszünk egymástól! Ő most Genovában él (amikor nem Budapesten), 200 méterre a tengertől egy nagyon pici, 20 nm-es lakásban. De van egy lakása Livornoban, és egy Budapesten, és ha jól tudom Angliában is. Meghívott a picike lakásába, és megmutatta a fényképet a kanapéról (ami kinyitható) és ahol aludhatok majd. Imádtam! :) :)

Elmondta, hogy ahol a házam lesz, ott a közelben, Novi Ligure-ben van egy híres, 160 éves csokigyár. Pernigotti Gianduiotto. 2018-ban majdnem bezárták, de végül maradt. Na, Gavit bezzeg rögtön megjegyeztem. – Ezt teszi a szerelem. :D Lelkesedett, hogy milyen jó helyen veszem a házat, közel van Milánó, Torinó, és Genova is. Azt is elmondta, hogy nyaralni nagyon jó lesz, de Olaszországban élni nem annyira jó, majd meglátom, hogy Magyarország jobb.

Nevettünk egymásra, hogy jó, majd meglátom. Ha úgy lesz, úgy lesz jó. Beszélgettünk kicsit a politikáról, kicsit a klímaválságról, ezen picit elszontyolodtunk, de végül megerősítettük egymás abban, hogy itt ülünk a Lövőház utcában, limonádét iszogatunk és beszélgetünk, élvezzük ki ezt, aztán majd a holnapot holnap meglátjuk.

Antionetta valószínűleg nagyszerű segítség lesz abban, hogy könnyebben eligazodjak majd az olaszországi programok és látnivalók meg érdekességek között. És borozásban egyértelm��en lehet számítani rá! :D
