do NOT take this as "g3 bad g1 good" i love g3 and they both have their strengths but god i miss g1 monster high
#spouting to the void#i wish they could coexist yk#as in the accompanying media ik the dolls actually DO coexist#im glad i got into it when i did though cause i still got the excitement of new films and dolls coming out#and in a way im glad g2 exists because i would probably be way more unecessarily bitter about g3 if it didnt#i think where g1 is good for the actual fashion g3 is good for representation (ESPECIALLY bodily representation)#i also thing the cg in g1 is more unique and charming BUT that's personal preference (probably influenced by nostalgia)#g1's tackling of social issues is also way more bare bones too. like i mean dont get me wrong a lot of the first few films are decent#ghouls rule is a bit dumbed down but i think they did the racism story fairly well#why do ghouls fall in love + friday night frights are both quite feminist in their writing (not even in a typical 2010s pop feminism way)#(ok maybe friday night frights is a *little* bit pop feminism but it still makes a good point)#but at the end of the day its all NOTHING on g3 which is not only more in depth but also outright names what they're on about#which i think is kind of important for stuff aimed at kids#yes i do think it can be a bit *too* in your face but i dont really mind
