HOUNDS!!!! my hounds

in my canon, the hounds are a group of wizards led by arlen. they are a major part of my arc 1 and some of them help reed with some things, not for very long but they're there so i gave them ally bonuses (idk how balanced these would be in game but whatever.......)

in terms of the hounds themselves, they all get along well enough when they're in a group. forrest and nikolai are besties outside of the group, arlen is friendly with everyone but sort of avoids blaine because he knows he doesn't like him, and blaine is polite with all of them but mostly out of respect and not because he actually likes any of them (dw they all get closer as time goes on)

all of them have swords (except nikolai...... and also arlen's sword is haunted)

Just watched Incident of El Toro (S5E1; I'm watching out of order for a bit until I feel like getting back to S2). Yet another episode where Mr. Favor has had enough. I liked seeing more of Jesús in this, as well as seeing how Rowdy handles having the herd (for a relatively brief period; compare/contrast S6E1 Incident of the Red Wind where there's more butting heads with Mr. Favor over decisions).

Memorable quote: Clay tells Mr. Favor that they'd have been able to cross the river in time if it hadn't been for the stampede. Favor: "Story of my life. If, if, if!"

Memorable images: (1) Mr. Favor resting with his feet (still in boots) in a river. (2) Wishbone disapprovingly looking at Mr. Favor slumped over exhausted on the chuck wagon table thing as he holds out a cup for coffee after spending all night quelling the stampede. (3) Rowdy, in charge of the herd and surveying the river he wishes to cross, doing that squinty exhale and frown. I just noted it because it's a very... Rowdy reaction to things ranging from slightly annoying to quite vexing. (4) Very last scene before "head 'em up, move 'em out!" :)

Memorable dialogue: Wishbone giving Mr. Favor a talking-to. Favor's reaction really drives home that cattle droving is tough, thankless work.

It's the first episode I've seen Clay Forrester in (because I jump around seasons) and I have no particular thoughts on him yet, except that I wish Pete were around.

I've noticed in a few episodes that Jim seems to be third-in-command, essentially, down the line from Rowdy. No Rowdy - Jim's essentially or explicitly ramrod. Rowdy is boss - he delegates to Jim. I hope he gets a bonus at the end of the drives.

Overall, I liked the episode as a Rawhide episode focused on the challenges of the drive, with the regular cast getting good screen time between them where we get to see how they interact with each other. Favor's situation will probably resonate at some point in the experience of a person in a position of responsibility.

aaaa for spooky movies I wanna watch the alien films, which thankfully a certain wonderful person got for me ;) I'd like to watch some more of the scream films too, I've found the first two really fun and wanna see what the others are like.

I wanna watch some older horror films tho like the fly and the blob :3 idk, just older horror in general is really fascinating to me, I'm always in awe at the practical effects used in em (looking at the thing here, I fuckin a d o r e the effects in that film they're so beautiful). That, and they're not hyper realistic so I don't feel super uncomfy when it comes to the gore hehe
