#thinking about how nice it would be to have an actual bed#instead of just sleeping on a mattress on the floor as i have done for the past 13 years#and how nice it would be to have an oven that actually works#(i tried to roast carrots tonight. the recipe said 40 mins at 190 C.#i had to set the oven to 250 C for it to actually reach 190 C. and roast for about 2 hours. and they still didn't get cooked properly)#and all the other things that need to be fixed about my home#(i love my flat so much but the furnishings and appliances desperately need updating)#but every time i start tentatively thinking about making one of these big changes#i get so overwhelmed by the logistics (who takes away the old mattress and oven? how do i dispose of them? how do i choose good ones?)#and then i remember that i am still over 10k in debt with student loans#and that literally a week ago i was calculating whether i'd be able to borrow money from friends for rent if necessary#and survive on lentils and rice and the other stuff in my cupboard for a month if i had nothing left for groceries#and i realize how UTTERLY ridiculous it is for me to even THINK about spending large amounts of money on anything until the debt's paid off#like every single financial advisor tells you that straight up#if you've got loans of multiple thousands of dollars and the interest rate is NINE FUCKING PERCENT#you do not put money away in savings. you do not invest money. you do not splurge on ANYTHING#you scrimp and save. and so that's what i've been doing. for a couple decades now#i'm so tired#and i've been doing this so long that i suspect it's permanently changed my brain chemistry#the mere prospect of taking any financial risks makes me instantly go into shutdown mode#need to get rid of that damn debt. asap. my severance payment is the light at the end of the tunnel for me rn#just gotta hold on till then. and then we'll see#tag rant#poverty#personal#cosmo gyres

#user.dat#living all by myself in a cute little house with a garden...#it mostly has to do with taking advantage of like 6 different govt programs#everybody else fleeing the south and I'm here like :) hm!#I mean it would be a cheap ass house and probably need some renovations but I lived most of my life sleeping on the floor#as long as the issues aren't serious like foundation or molding or whatever...idc if the wallpaper is ugly or the counters are from the 70s#I also don't care about furnishing the place immediately#I can get by with a dresser a desk and a bed#also like I really cannot see myself living anywhere but somewhere south TBH#I do miss a good mountain but I can't hike those anymore anyway 🤷#and flat land is better for wheeling myself across things and better for gardening#this is not any time soon I don't think .-. but it's a plan!

#im ok now!!!#still sort of. alert and watchful but#mostly there was just a lot of problems piled up at once but none personally damaging or unfixable and us + loved ones are ok#and autism+burnout brain did not like having to reschedule things on the fly based on Evolution of Problem(s) several times a day#with no breaks to process properly#(also constant hypervigilance bc a lot of the Problems were with the wiring of our flat and that was ummmm#hard to Feel Safe and recoup when your literal living space is threatening to potentially catch fire / is a security risk#and every time a professional comes by and is like oh it should be fine now! and then. a day to hours later. it is NOT!!!! FINE!!!!! AGAIN!#thats a lot hfjdjg kg#it's been two full days since the Last Incident and our most important stuff is Packed just in case so#im choosing to believe this is Under Control until such time as it is Actually Fixed by the pros (electricity guy))#and then there was the annoyance of landlady on top of that who keeps badgering us about the flat being ''too messy''#to take pictures of to sell. but i am starting to believe that the problem is that WE LIVE HERE and cant make it look like an IKEA showroom#because like is there a lot of stuff? yes absolutely. but even with all our best efforts to hide the stuff#the last two times we STILL got told it's too messy for pictures and at this point im like ok whatever#isn't fixing the fucking wiring more important here maybe perhaps. this isn't a livable flat my bedroom has no heating or electricity#maybe fix that before you try to sell LOL#/petty but whatever#like us and flatmate are gonna hide as much stuff as we possibly can with 0 proper furniture to put stuff away in (furnished flat BTW)#and the agency will get what they get like they're selling already rented. buyers KNOW theres people living in there#again this isn't a fucking IKEA showroom we live here and use our stuff............#anyway fhdjfkgk this is like a full on rant about honestly like i'll take that annoyance over the. ah yes electricity in my flat is#potentially a fire hazard now#(tho again we have Not had any issues for 48 hours the problem really seems to be circumscribed to unfortunately our bedroom#that we spend 80% of our time in. in the winter. the heater is electric. oops. anyway fjdkgkgkg)#like genuinely the issue here was less the Problems and more the Pileup and constantly changing plans and situation#and interactions with a ton of folks about it for stuff we don't have scripts for. did a number on the autism brain#prommy we're ok enough now it was just a HARD week and this post was a gotdam Mood when i saw it lol#anyway thank u for sending this in and also Caring this was Heartwarming To See 💕 TwT#saltposting

apartment hunting be like 'that flat is in an inconvenient neighborhood, that building is right next to a massive construction site, that kitchen hasn't been updated since like the 70s and the stove looks like a fire hazard, this apartment has a super inconvenient layout, this hasn't got enough storage, a minimum one year contract...'
#noopa rambles#frigging studio apartments having stupid layouts#esp the trend with new apartments to have the kitchen just along the living space wall is killing me#it makes furnishing the rest of the apartment such a pain#fucking hate that moving seems like a smart option atm#bc there's gonna be construction that will last for years right outside my window soonish#I'll have some time to find a place before it starts#I really don't want to live right next to a construction site for years when I work from home#if I didn't work from home it wouldn't be an issue#ofc I could wait and see just how loud the construction will be when they start doing the demo first#kinda still wanna move cities but the city I wanna move to is so much more expensive#I'd either need a roommate or live far from downtown#which would be super annoying for a side job commute and I'd like a side job#and I don't exactly know anyone I could ask to be a roommate#and let's be real I also wouldn't want to ruin friendships by existing as a roommate#I feel like I'd be a disaster as a roommate#I really like my current flat the layout is sooo good and the location is excellent#I'm lowkey just considering finding a flat in the same group of apartments but a few buildings down#so that there'd be at least a block and two-three buildings between me and the construction#but idk if that'd still do enough to protect from the noise so it might just be pointless to move half a block#but this location is just so good man!!!
