Adding to this - I love my current job, and that's 99% because we actually talk and communicate while we work. Admittedly, I'm an intern, but the office is incredibly small. Feeling like you can take time to process things is so important - whether it's our lunch breaks or when we all grab beverages and talk about things in the conference room, there's always times where we're able to just freely exist. There's definitely an expectation to get things done, but - it's only really felt as a background radiation, it's secondary to the actual motivation of the work itself being enjoyably challenging yet having time to process it. I don't advocate for spending more hours than needed, but I've honestly felt fine spending more than the typical shift in there, and part of that is due to how I do not feel like I am under duress while working.

#ayorb #ayo #honestly i was really struggling for a while to find a job and i'm so glad i found this one #the people there have been really happy to catch me up to speed on everything they've been working on #there's this passion i rarely see in the workplace. my heart sings with joy and that's not something i thought i'd be saying about a job #but that passion is only fostered by workers being treated right. that passion is only fostered by treating them like people #the boss is really nice and talks with everyone. my coworkers have razzed him about ai usage and he's just chill with it.#i'm still kinda new so i'm not really in the social dynamic of razzing yet but it's honestly makes me cry happy tears when i think about it #funnily enough i'm also the only out trans person in the office. only one person seems to know i'm trans though #we basically communicated it through codespeak about politics and celeste (though it is difficult to tell just how much was hinting)#oh and also hr because my legal name and sex is still the old one. but everyone's been pretty chill about it #this is all to say that despite big companies with the workplace rush comprising most jobs - there are places for all of us out there #to live in society you must still participate in it but there's a lot you can do to make it bearable. even enjoyable #i will still fight for a better world but any good fight starts with finding your own way to love #also fuck every media company saying the problem is we're trying to be happy. i'm pretty fucking happy working for these folks #not “happy happy happy joy joy joy” all the time but even when i'm tired i have a drowsy smile at the end of the day
