Doodledex - #591 Amoonguss

After evolving, Amoonguss has shot up from 0′08″ to a whopping 2 feet tall! Perhaps that’s why very few Pokemon are fooled by its fake Poke Balls now... they’re simply too big! Well, that and its main cap (the least convincing part) now has its pattern sideways... I wonder how that happened?

But the placement of those smaller, additional caps is pretty interesting.... they’re placed in such a way that Amoongus can perform a little dance where it sways them about, showing them off. What does this dance mean? Well... apparently it thinks Pokemon would find moving Poke Balls more enticing. That’s probably another reason why its facade fails....

#pokemon #doodledex #amoonguss #funnily enough i never realized amoonguss' name had an additional s in it!#and while we're on the subject of names... this line's are pretty interesting #the english names are a play on 'there's fungus among us'#(and if you didn't know that was a thing before... now you do!)#but the japanese names are also pretty clever!#foongus' is 'tamagetake'#which is taken from 'tamageru' (to be astonished/surprised) and 'take' (as in shiitake)#this references the fact that it fulfills voltorb's 'mimic' role!#amoonguss on the other hand is 'morobaeru'#which is 'moro ni' (completely) and 'baeru' (slang for a secret being found out)...#in other words amoonguss is so big its disguise is totally busted!
