Foods in Argentina
There is a great amount of European influence in Argentinian culture and cuisine as well. This can be seen in examples such as choripán (a sausage chorizo sandwich with a baguette-like bread), milanesa (thin, breaded, pan-fried meat - similar to schnitzel), and empanadas - a fried turnover with various fillings, similar to Pirozhki (Street Food: Latin America, 2020).
The choripán is one of the most popular Argentinian street food. It is a barbecued/grilled chorizo sandwich and are present at almost any big event or celebration.
Empanadas are also a staple in Argentina. There are a plethora of recipes and variations for empanadas, and no two provinces' empanadas are alike. The fillings may include ham, cheese, beef, onions, peppers, and numerous spices.
A prominent ingredient in Argentinian cuisine is cheese. Fugazza and fugazzeta (cheese-stuffed pizza) are also popular dishes and a great example of the significance of cheese in Argentina (Street Food: Latin America, 2020)

Marcos laughed softly at her comment. "Why thank you, babe, that's very thoughtful of you" he responded, leaning onto the kiss. "Of course" he nodded his head slowly. His eyes widened in shock when she mentioned a Hawaiian pizza and resisted the strong urge of saying that that wasn't pizza, it was a mistake. "Ohh, Napolitana sounds good" he said instead. "One day I should make this argentine pizza called fugazzeta rellena, it's basically onion and loads of cheese" he hummed softly. He ordered the pizza and then wrapped his arms around her, pressing a sweet kiss on her forehead. "She's going to love you... I think you two will get along, she's very sweet. A bit shy, but a very kind person" he explained before shaking his head. "Nothing, I got it covered for us" he told her, running his fingers over her blonde hair.
"Alright, tiger, calm down. I promise I won't let people near you every say that." Camila chuckled, moving to press a kiss on his cheek before continuing her task of cleaning. "We could try some, see if I get used to it before I actually do the thing." She pondered. When he mentioned his sister's would be there, Cam felt a small sense of relief, she already knew Alma and she found her incredibly funny and she had only heard good things of Olivia so she had been waiting for an opportunity to meet her. She could do the whole meeting his friends things, she thought more confidently. Uhm... Hawaiian for me. Or Napolitana." She asked, going to return the tools to their place now now floor was clean before standing in front of Marcos to hug him, pressing her chin on his chest to look up at him. "I can't wait to meet Olivia. And your other friends. What should I bring?"

Hoy voy a contarles la historia de la fugazzeta. En el norte de Italia se come una focaccia delgada y crocante con cebollas en orégano y aceite de oliva, los genoveses la llaman fugassa. Los Argentinos la adoptaron y la renombraron fugazza y en los años treinta en Buenos Aires a un reconocido pizzero llamado Juan Banchero se le ocurrió hacer como un sandwich con media masa, rellenarlo de mozzarella y coronarlo con las cebollas en orégano dando así origen a la fugazzeta. Un manjar porteño que es imprescindible probar. Mis recomendadas son la de Banchero, El Cuartito, Santa María (a la que le ponen perejil y queso rallado encima) y la de La Mezzeta que no es mi favorita porque la encuentro desproporcionadamente llena de mozzarella pero a los locales les encanta. 🍕🍕🍕 Today I will tell you the history of fugazzeta. People from northern italy tradiotionally eat a focaccia with onions, oregano and olive oil which Genovese call fugassa. The Argentinian adopted it and renamed it fugazza and in the early thirties a reknown pizza maker named Juan Banchero thought of making a sandwich of thick pizza bread filled with mozzarella and topped with the onions, oregano and olive oil. This was the birth of fugazzeta. When in Buenos Aires eating fugazzeta is a must.
