#i love..... when second-world fantasy.... is later revealed to be earth-and-space swords and sorcery sci fi.............#its my favorite genre i swear#red rambles#sci fi fantasy yes yes but i want fantasy that's a bait and switch for VERY CLEAR SCI FI#like- when a magic system with regular rules is later revealed to be VERY MUCH hard sci fi#thats what i mean#when it is technology that almost conforms to the laws of phyics a la a warp drive#that the users have forgotten and elevated to the realm of wizardry and magic#it makes me INSANE.#this is partially about pern and mostly about that entire genre of sci fi fantasy#fuck its even sort of about Gor (notable example of a terrible gross fantasy series like that) and OSC's Pathfinder (good book by asshole)
