most security guards/cops/crims are more dangerous to themselves than to any actual threat. in the Early Years of Batman, he was a Cryptid who only appeared at night & had the Power Of Money to support said "Cryptid" status via having MUCH better tech (armour, spyware, [nightvision], training with said tech, non-lethal weapons, niche tools, etc) than everyone else. At night, with a previously scouted out map of an area & a local's familiarity with it, Batman wouldn't need to "ninja" that hard because... unless a guard's boss was SCARIER than a Bat Cryptid, they're not going to be overly invested in risking their lives (though Batman's Technical Pacifism wasn't realised until Later: I assume Gotham's medical insurance runs by North American Rules, making a "non-lethal" beatdown probs scarier to the Average Mook).
The Penguin is a Threat because out of ALL the early crime bosses of the Era where Batman Began... HIS GANG SURVIVED (as in, it didn't get disbanded or turn on itself after losing multiple arms deals/smuggling shipments/sundry criminal activities via way of Bat Cryptid). Somehow, the Penguin keeps landing back on his feet: it Varies from writer to writer but the "Modern" Penguin is one of Gotham's more "civilised" crimebosses. As opposed to the Chaotic Crime pre-Batman or the Chaotic Evil of Certain Supervillains, the Penguin is an "Organized" Crimeboss. He's dangerous because he outsurvived all his contemporaries, he has Connections & Political Influence: treating the Penguin as a threat is Only Polite, in a setting like Gotham.
...except when the Penguin is named less for his Penguin Suit and just Penguins: those penguins BLOW UP & get sent into civilian areas. The umbrella ALSO blows up. It also tends to be a machine gun &/or a Detonation Device. This is the Penguin who Danny Devito played. The Batman of that setting was also one without decades of experience & familiarity with [being a vigilante], less Paranoid and Detective-y. Just Very Camp. And, in a Camp Setting, the Penguin can AND WILL "outcamp" the guy not commiting to being a Spooky Bat Cryptid.
The problem with Batman in his present incarnation is that we need simultaneously to believe that this is a man who can effortlessly ninja his way through dozens of gun-toting mercenaries, and that this is a man to whom Danny DeVito with an umbrella is a credible threat.

hi, do you know any good vampire frerard fics? :)
Hi Nonny!
I do know a few of those: check out this list that's all about Gerard as a vampire (and mostly Frank/Gerard). If that can't quench your thirst, try this list!I've read the first four of these (no. 2 & 3 are the same universe) but there are A LOT of fics about Vampire Frank/Gerard on AO3 and all of these looked really interesting, so there should be something for every taste! Some fics on this list have multiple pairings, I've added those to the descriptions when they seemed more than a background or past relationship.
Vampire Frank/Gerard
Gerard Way's (Vampire) Detective Agency by jjtaylor, Pennyplainknits, more ships in later fics, 164k, Mature, Teen And Up Audiences, General Audiences. Pete, in Decaydance Mansion, with a yarrow stake. Frank and Gerard, in the greenhouse, with a plant of questionable origin. Bob, everywhere you look, with a gang of assassins for justice. Vampires, valets, pamphlets, haunted furniture, dub-thrall, disembodied voices, zombie couriers, and sinister rituals.
They Came From Outer Jersey! by thatsfinewithus, Gen, Frank/Gerard, 25k, Rated R. New London Fire is an elite fringe government force assigned the task of protecting the earth from some of its more interesting threats: those from beyond the atmosphere or even the universe. They've handled dangerous cases before, but they've never seen anything like...ZOMBIES FROM SPACE. Vampires, long hunted in lore and legend, are now the earth's only saviors. There is little information as to who sent the creatures until Mikey Way, head of the NLF, finds out more by being abducted. Is it too late for him? Is it too late for the earth? Find out how six vampires, one government general, and one frustrated comic book artist save the earth in...THEY CAME FROM OUTER JERSEY!!
I Think I Thought (I Saw You Try) by thatsfinewithus, 3k, NC-17. Vampires, and MCR, and porn. Welcome to some weird AU world in which Gee only does awesome comics and Frank is a vampire.
A State Of Orange by gala_apples, Frank/Mikey, Frank/Gerard, 20k, Explicit. Being a halfling in a red state can sometimes cause issues for Frank Iero. He’s the weakest at Jett Clement High School, and probably the entire state (not counting the meal plans). His moods are oddly stable, as much as he tries to be mercurial. And being able to withstand the sun for up to twenty minutes only allows him more time to be forced into chores. Still, his parents are insane if they think he’s going to be happy about their decision. Frank doesn’t want to move to a Mixed state. How is he supposed to get great friends? How is he supposed to find great food? How is he supposed to have great sex? But Frank doesn’t have a choice. He’s New Jersey bound for the next year, if not longer. He’ll be surrounded by tame vampires who have been nagged out of a sex drive, and humans he’s not allowed to eat. Mixed states suck. Lucky for him, not every person in Jersey sucks.
All's Night by MizErie, 16k, Explicit. The war between humans and vampires has been raging for centuries. Too long according to Frank Iero. But if all humans aren't considered equal, what chance do vampires have in the fight for equality? That's why when Frank bought and began running his small bar, The Jukebox, he also implemented All’s Night. All’s Night began as an all-inclusive Tuesday night for tolerant humans and vampires to come together and socialize. Its popularity in the community has grown, and Frank has since started hosting All’s Night on Thursdays as well. Those are his two favorite nights of the week.
Life as a Process by ViciousVenin, 57k, Explicit. Frank's college experience isn't exactly what he was hoping for. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life, his RA scares him, and his roommate Gerard seems pretty weird. Really weird, actually, but not in a bad way. As the two of them get closer, Frank finds that Gerard is one of the most interesting people he's ever met, and cute as fuck to boot. Frank just wishes he could figure out what Gerard is hiding...
The Life You Always Dreamed Of by caffienedcold, 180k, Mature. You’d think having grown up in New Jersey, Frank would’ve outgrown his horror movie fixation. But no, he’s thirty, teaching Italian in fucking Rhode Island and he actually believes the student gossip that the art teacher is a vampire. So what if Frank has had an awful crush on him since the school year started? He’d helped Mr. Way move into his classroom and carried a box containing issue one of Doom Patrol, a Batman figure, and splattered tubes of screen printing ink. You really couldn’t blame him for the crush. And the vampire rumors? Icing on the cake. At least until it’s Frank’s blood on the line.
'Til the Sun Goes Down by BasementVampire, 2k, Explicit. Frank wants to fuck his best friend. Gerard wants to drink Frank's blood.
I Think I'd Go Insane Without You by hellborn, 3k, Mature. Gerard just smiles, his lips closed, eyes dark red and eager. Mikey covers his face with his hands and squeezes the empty bag between his calloused fingers, "I must be out of my goddamned mind for even considering this." A dangerous, thin-lipped smirk spreads across Gerard's face and Mikey can see row after row of long, sharp, teeth gleaming from between his bloodstained lips, "Come along, Mikes, it's time to dig up my boyfriend's dead body!"
Mortui Non Mordant by Tezy, 32k, General Audiences. “Does that matter right now? I’m – fucking dead, man. I wanted to do so much shit with my life before I died!” “You still can,” the guy said. “Like, nothing’s stopping you.” Gerard leapt to his feet, aghast at how casually he was treating his death. That wasn’t very good manners. “Except being dead.” “What did you want? Fucking ballet dancing at your funeral? Get over it, we all did.”
Those Cemetery Eyes by corruptedkid, 11k, Explicit. Every second Gerard was absent, Frank felt like there was a hole in his chest. The day Mikey showed up at his doorstep blotchy and tearstained, the hole collapsed into a supernova, turning him inside out and swallowing him whole.
at midnight all the agents by orphan_account, 18k, Mature. "I'm so, so sorry, I didn't meant to kill you," the black-haired man said in a distressed voice.
we only come out at night by cemetery_driven, 2k, Teen And Up Audiences. Gerard and Frank are just stupid vampire boyfriends.
Vampire AU by Andromedas_Void, 26k, Explicit and Teen And Up Audiences. Mister Francis Anthony Iero, Junior, Your presence is requested this evening at 221 Upper Birch Lane, North London. A carriage will be awaiting you at 3:00 pm sharp. Cordially yours, Gerard Arthur Way, Esq.
burning up in the sun by akamine_chan, 12k, Explicit. Life hasn't been the same since the Rift. Frank hadn't been planning on getting stuck in this stupid town, kept captive in the sketchiest bar in the universe, chained to the counter like an animal. And just when he'd been sure that nothing could surprise him anymore, he was rescued by a rock 'n' roll band of vampires. He hadn't seen that one coming.
There's A Lot Of Vampires Out There by iamdali, 27k, Explicit. In the year 2025 over 90% of the word's population are vampires. These days, vampires don't have to prowl alleys for human victims, massive medical co-operations mass produce blood and inject it in to every day food. Gerard Way is an office boy for one of the biggest companies in the US, and when he's not paper pushing for Vladimir Co he's plotting to find his still human brother with his companion, Frank.
Like a Secret In Your Throat by frankie_ann, 10k, Explicit. Frank sells himself as a live-in housekeeper/boyfriend. Gerard is a vampire (and independently wealthy artist) with a deeply unhealthy blood addiction who could use a hand around the house now that Mikey is off at school. …Mostly there’s a lot of porn. And blood. And I do believe in happy endings.
(To Die Will Be) An Awfully Big Adventure by FayJay, Frank/Gerard, Lindsey/Gerard, 73k, Mature. Gerard has always vaguely liked the idea of being a vampire, in much the same way he's always vaguely liked the idea of time travel, or of being a pirate - but it's only when he wakes up dead that he realises that not all his fans (or friends) are actually human. This is rather a shock to the system, but Gerard does his best to deal with the fact that he's now an undead American, and he's lucky enough to get a little help from an unexpected corner. Just as he thinks he's starting to get the hang of being a vampire, however, everything suddenly goes to hell in a handbasket, and before he knows it there are angry vampires slayers chasing him around LA, and an urgent appointment with the Fairy Queen looming before him... A story about love, family, metamorphosis, art, trust and geekery.
Cycle of Souls by Green, Gerard/Mikey, Frank/Gerard, Brian/Gerard, 49k, Explicit. Gerard loses his brother in the 17th century, and is turned shortly after. He grieves for his lost brother for centuries, but becomes content when he meets a man named Frank. Now, in the 21st century, he sees someone who looks exactly like his lost brother. In fact, he's positive the young Mikey is his dead brother come back to life. Will Mikey accept a vampire into his life, or is Gerard destined to lose him yet again?

Chapter One
Naruto regained himself. He was still groggy from being knocked out and the icky damp in the air didn’t help. There was a stinging metallic taste and his skin crawled as cold sweat trickled down his back. He groaned, spluttering through some phlegm. He was sitting down; they’d given him that luxury, whoever they were. Everything was grey, green and dark in the single light bulb’s feeble illumination. Dramatic effect, of course. He was in a cell of some kind. No - too big to be a cell. Perhaps a holding cell. There was s deep, distant but pounding murmur around him. Underground? Something about the air pressure felt off. By now, he could make out shapes, make out the corners of the room. Behind the light, a shadow stared at him. And it spoke:
“It’s been a long time, Naruto.”
He knew that voice; a voice like the eye in a storm. It couldn’t be. The shadow stepped into the edge of the light. Naruto saw him.
“I should’ve known you were behind this, Batman.”
“That’s no way to greet an old war buddy.”
“Save it. You’re no buddy of mine.”
“Naruto. I invited you here so we could talk.”
Naruto erupted to a stand. “Invited? That’s what you call knocking me out and kidnapping me?”
“I needed to show you something. I knew you’d say no otherwise.”
“Hey! I’m retired. The war’s over and you’re not my commander anymore. I don’t have to take orders from you.”
“Excuse me.” There was someone else here. A switch ticked and the light went off. Dark. Then another tick and the whole room went up. Naruto winced as his eyes stung. Grimacing, he peeked around and made out the figure better. A woman. She was wearing a lab coat. This must be some kind of secret R&D facility. Government? Or another of the Crusader’s pet projects. She was looking at him, patiently.
 “Who are you?”
“I’m Dr Irene Adler. I’m the chief of ASAHI’s medical staff.”
 “ASAHI?” asked Naruto.
Batman explained. “After the war ended, most of the former rebellious samurai were absorbed into Japan’s new government. The others established a republic in the north, in Hokkaido. ASAHI was created with the purpose of rooting out the remaining ronins, to stamp out the old order; hence, the Rising Sun.”
“I’ve heard about you. You kill ninjas too. I didn’t believe it. So many of my old friends went missing. Missing or forced to become civilians. Told there was no need for ninjas in the new world. That we were an embarrassment.” Naruto paused. He turned to the doctor. “And you? Are you military?”
“No,” she said. “Civilian. Part of the new CDC, a department founded by the US Government. I’m part of the US’ expedition here, to help modernise the new government here.”
 “Modernise?”
“Yes. The Emperor has been clear in his aims. The past four years have seen small waves of Western diplomats to help inform government policy. With them have come a not insignificant task force of scientists, engineers, doctors, pedagogists and military officers to help the Emperor as he establishes a more centralised government.”
 “I can’t believe it. You’re taking over, aren’t you?”
Batman assured him. “That’s not why we’re here, Naruto. We’re here on a mission. That’s why I brought you here.”
“And where am I? Just where in the hell even am I?” Naruto bellowed.
“A Kasatka class submarine, fifty miles off the coast of the Ryu Kyu archipelago.”
 “Kasatka?”
“If it comes to the worst case scenario, we can’t have this being traced back to us.”
“I see. You’re doing the government’s dirty work. Working in the shadows. A ninja killing ninjas. I can’t believe it.”
“I don’t have time for this. We have a mission and you’re the only one who can do it.”
 “Why me? I’m not American.”
“You fought with us once before.”
“That was different. I didn’t know what we were fighting for, what the real goal was. I never would’ve joined you if I’d known.”
“That’s still the goal. Officially, the war’s over but I haven’t hung up my cape just yet. The Five Kages were corrupt, Naruto. Deliberately instigating conflicts between daimyos to drive up demand for their services. The corruption was systemic. War was our last resort, believe me.”
Naruto said nothing. He suddenly desperately needed to smell fresh air. To run somewhere.
Batman continued. “There’s another reason I chose you.” Naruto looked up. “Terrorists have taken control of the ruins of the Hidden Leaf Village. They hijacked a US Marines tanker, headed for Tokyo for inspection. That tanker held a top-secret weapon that in the wrong hands could mean chaos for the whole region.”
 “Top-secret?”
“I’ll explain this part,” said Dr. Adler. “During the war, The White House said that it would give its unfailing support to the Emperor in quelling the rebellion. But as it drew on, several generals expressed concern that perhaps we had backed the wrong horse. So, they developed a contingency plan in case the Shogunate won: a new, highly-advanced revolutionary form of artillery. A sixteen-cannon barrage, it could fire missiles up to heights just below the stratosphere. Armed with a hyperintelligent processing unit, the machine could take into account wind patterns, varying atmospheric pressure and seismic activity thereby calculating its trajectory with a margin of error of a mere twenty metres. In short, a weapon that allowed its user to attack without giving away its position. We called it . . . Metal Gear.
Low-level testing was already under way as the war was coming to a close. We’ve actually never got to see it operate at its full capabilities. If we did, outside of a conflict scenario - that many missiles? It’d surely make international news.”
Batman joked, “If it were that many missiles, it’d make the weather report.”
Silence. Dr Adler didn’t appreciate his attempt at humour.
“Never mind that,” continued Batman. “Naruto, this weapon can’t be in the hands of a rogue nation.”
Naruto frowned. He couldn’t. The old order might have been over but he still had his ninja code. He couldn’t refuse.
Batman added, “There’s another reason why we asked you.”
 “Huh?”
“The terrorists have an army of ronins and renegade ninjas. If this were a rag-tag group of mercenaries with a grudge, it wouldn’t be much of a problem. But they’ve been disciplined by their new leaders into a professional army, aiming to establish a nation-state not just for themselves but with the aims to reconquer Japan.”
 “New leaders?”
“Yes. That’s another reason why we brought you. The people in charge of this whole affair are some of the most capable warriors from the old era. Light Yagami, with his powerful supernatural abilities. Bayonetta, the beautiful and deadly berserker. Mario, master of disguise. Mecha Godzilla, giant and humanity’s nemesis. And sans from Undertale, specialist in interrogation and a formidable gunslinger.”
“Helluva misfit gang. I’ve met better. Too bad we’ll be meeting under these circumstances.”
“One more thing: the person in charge of them, the sqaud leader . . . you might know her by her codename: Sailor Moon.”
 “My sister!?”
“Yes, and you’re the only person who can stand against her.”
“. . . She disappeared. All those years ago.”
“Yes. She’s been AWOL for twelve years. Surprised me as well.”
“No-one really knows her as well you do,” said Dr Adler. “You’re the only who can figure out what she really plans to do.”
“What do you mean?” asked Naruto.
Batman interjected. “There’s another reason we need you. The terrorists haven’t just hijacked Metal Gear. They’re also demanding two thousand tonnes of gold-”
 “Two thousand tonnes of gold?”
“Yes. They’re also asking for the remains of a certain someone.”
“The remains of a certain someone?”
 “Yes. The late Barack Obama.”
 “What!?”
“That’s why we need you on this mission,” said Dr Adler again. “You have the skills, the knowledge, and the only one who can understand what she’s thinking.”
“Huh.” What the hell was this, he thought. He hadn’t fully recovered but his head was sufficiently calibrated by now for him to see how crazy this all was. Had he missed something? He’d spent so long wandering after the Leaf Village was destroyed. Had the world changed that much while he was away? “Alright,” he moaned. “Alright. I’ll do it.”
 “I’m glad,” said Batman. “There’s . . . another reason I chose you.”
 “Another reason?”
“When the terrorists first took over the ruins, the governor dispatched special forces to investigate. Half of them were wiped out. The other, captured. One of the hostages is my niece.”
 “Niece?”
“Yes. The daughter of an old friend of mine. Her name’s Lyra. You’re the only one I trust to rescue her.”
Naruto shook his head. His voice turned raspier than usual. “I’m . . . rusty. Spent too long wandering around. I’m not the ninja I used to be.”
Batman clasped his shoulder, his face fully in the light, his eyes clear. “You are, Naruto. I believe in you.”
Naruto looked away. “Okay,” he finally resolved. “One thing though.”
 “What’s that?”
 “I need scissors.”
“Why do you need that?” asked Dr Adler.
“Just gonna clean myself up a little. I don’t wanna be mistaken for the leader of the terrorists.”

What a Pandemic in America Might Look Like
Movies like Contagion make a new virus seem like the dramatic collapse of civilization. Hospitals fill as the infection spreads and feckless elites dither, waiting too long to react and containing information to avoid panicking the public. By the time the news hits, it’s too late, and people are dying in the streets. Countries close their borders in an attempt to contain the outbreak in vain.
But movies like Contagion are stories about our fears and worst case scenarios, not accurate depictions of reality. The truth is, as long as everyone is talking and there’s plenty of supplies to go around, the world can ride out a new virus or disease until scientists develop a vaccine or the infection recedes. We’ve done it before, dozens of times.
Now that the novel coronavirus Covid-19 is spreading across the globe and prompting severe responses from the Chinese government including mass travel restrictions, many are worried about what a pandemic might look like in the United States. With only 15 confirmed cases in America, the United States is dealing with what could be the early stages of an outbreak if the virus continues to spread.
How prepared is America for a pandemic?
The good news is that the U.S. is part of the international community and is plugged into the global health system. This global health system is a vast machine spread across the planet, made up of groups such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), state agencies, local organizations at the city level, hospitals and clinics, and individual healthcare providers. This system is already up and running, spreading information and allocating resources.
“To be honest, we respond to outbreaks everyday,” Demete Daskalakis, Deputy Commissioner for the Division of Disease Control of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, told Motherboard over the phone. “We do work that focuses on top notch epidemiology and surveillance to understand what’s going on with diseases and trends.”
The global health machine is always watching for signs of new disease, and it caught coronavirus early. “A very basic AI is scanning every news report, every tweet, every blog, to look for instances where people are talking about things like fever and outbreak,” Theresa MacPhail—a medical anthropologist, Assistant Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, and author of the book The Viral Network: A Pathology of the H1N1 Influenza Pandemic—said over the phone.
BlueDot, a Canadian AI company, noticed the outbreak in China and told its customers seven days before the CDC warned the U.S. and ten days before the WHO warned the world. “We can pick up news of possible outbreaks, little murmurs or forums or blogs of indications of some kind of unusual events going on,” BlueDot founder and CEO Kamran Khan told Wired.
MacPhail was in Hong Kong during the H1N1 pandemic and learned first hand how the world’s health system responds to global outbreaks. “Most of global health is just national health systems communicating on a regular basis, either with the WHO or with each other,” she said.
In places like the WHO and CDC, experts gather to monitor the situation and disseminate information.
“They have a situation room, much like a military situation room,” MacPhail said. “They have a map with dots on the map representing outbreaks they’re watching continually. There’s always something on the map. Wuhan is on everyone’s mind right now but there’s probably about 30 outbreaks they’re also watching and those aren’t getting talked about.”
Bigger cities have similar systems in place. In NYC, the situation room is part of what officials call the Incident Command System (ICS). There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in NYC, but ICS is already up and running. “[It’s] designed to pull resources from all over the agency to be able to make the response larger,” Daskalakis said. According to Daskalakis, NYC’s health officials constantly practice and drill ICS scenarios.
It runs tabletop games meant to simulate outbreaks and perform full scale drills that include running ambulances back and forth across the city and testing individual hospitals. “Interestingly enough, the full-scale drill that was scheduled for March would have simulated a highly contagious respiratory virus,” Daskalakis said.
Daskalakis in NYC’s ability to respond to the coronavirus, but cautioned that drills and training would only go so far. “We have great respect for the power of a new virus, but we’re already turned in to how to respond to a respiratory virus outbreak,” he said. “There’s a lot of unknown in this one, but our strategies already exist.”
“It’s inevitable that we’re going to get a case,” Daskalakis said. “Right now we’re in a zone of containment, but as things get bigger, we have to make sure we triage our resources so the healthcare system can actually deal with caring for the individuals who are at the highest risk for adverse outcomes.”
What would happen in America during a pandemic?
While the idea of an outbreak in New York City might conjure dystopian images of isolating Manhattan, containment doesn’t necessarily mean travel bans like the kind the Chinese government is using to try and contain the virus’s spread.
The first instinct of many governments and people is understandably to restrict the flow of people to control the flow of a virus, but current research suggests that travel bans don’t work and may make the problem worse. “The Committee does not recommend any travel or trade restriction based on the current information available,” the WHO said in the early days of the coronavirus outbreak.
“I don’t think we’ve seen compelling evidence that travel bans work at all, and they’re less likely to work for respiratory viruses like this, because they move too quickly,” Johns Hopkins epidemiologist Jennifer Nuzzo told Wired.
In some instances, quarantining asymptomatic people suspected to be infected creates a breeding ground for the diseased and worsens the pandemic and spreads fear. This happened on the Diamond Princess, a Japanese cruise ship that Tokyo quarantined after a man who disembarked in Hong Kong later tested positive for coronavirus.
"Basically the quarantine of a ship is a 19th century type of a strategy. But it was probably hard to make any kind of a decision," Hitoshi Oshitani, an expert on infectious disease at Tohoku University, told the Associated Press.
Thankfully, coronavirus is similar to other highly infectious respiratory diseases, which means that most American healthcare workers know how to handle it.
“In the early days, most of the steps are going to be the same whether or not you’re looking at SARs or influenza,” MacPhail said. “It’s the same protocol for all transmissible organisms so there is a basic level of training that they can have that will help them to come with whatever is coming.”
As infection rates rise, the global health machine starts worrying more about logistics. Do hospitals have enough beds? Do healthcare workers have the supplies they need to handle the pandemic? “What China is dealing with right now, is logistics,” MacPhail said. “Do they have enough masks? Do they have enough antivirals?”
China has a shortage of surgical masks, but its biggest concern was a lack of hospital space. As the source of the outbreak, its population is the hardest hit and it needs the most beds. To make up for the shortage, China built two brand new hospitals in just over a week.
NYC has a plan for that too for shortages too, but it doesn’t involve building new hospitals. “There’s a lot of considerations that revolve around hospital capacity and medical systems capacity as well as the need to be nimble in terms of strategy given the magnitude of the outbreak,” Daskalakis said.
If the infection becomes bad and resources become more scarce, NYC would reserve hospital beds for those with the worst symptoms. In a worst case scenario, healthcare providers would send people with mild symptoms home. “Do we have enough capacity in hospitals to care for everyone? Do we need to have everyone go to a doctor in case they have mild symptoms? All of that is going to change depending on the magnitude,” Daskalakis said.
Smaller cities and rural communities don’t have robust systems and health departments, so they should pay special attention to both their training and supplies.
But for any of this to happen, the infection would have to spread far more than it has. The coronavirus appears to be deadlier and has infected more people than SARS did during its spread in 2003. But, at more than 75,000 infections and more than 2,000 dead, coronavirus is still less of a problem than the H1N1 pandemic of ten years ago, which the CDC estimated killed more than 150,000 people in a year.
The world, and the United States, isn’t anywhere close to dealing with a pandemic on the level of H1N1. “Right now, it’s about giving as much scientific information as we can to healthcare providers so they’re giving optimal care while preventing transmission,” Daskalakis
MacPhail said she feels that the world is handling the coronavirus well. The global health machine is working as intended. “When you think about global health, if you’re thinking about Batman in a Batcave, that’s wrong,” she said. “It’s always going to be your local public health officials responding to this. What happens is the information system goes into overdrive and, in the end, it’s all about logistics. It’s about getting supplies to people.”
And everytime an outbreak happens, that machine gets a little better at dealing with the next pandemic. “We learn how good we are at responding and then we fix the things that are broken,” MacPhail said. “This is always going to be a problem. Always.”
According to MacPhail, the coronavirus coming from China made it easier to deal with. People expect new diseases to come from China so they watch it more than other countries. She said there’s a perception that Beijing hasn’t been forthcoming with information about the disease, but she’s confident healthcare professionals will fill in the gaps. “Doctors everywhere want to save lives and they will talk,” she said.
Chinese doctor Li Wenliang first noticed SARS like symptoms among his patients in December. Chinese authorities silenced him, but word got out. Wenliang, who was 34, contracted the virus and died. Wenliang was one of eight whistleblowers who got word out about the coronavirus. That early spread of information saved lives. It’s all about logistics and communication.
“The people who are saving our asses are already in our community,” MacPhail said.

What You Need To Know About ‘Mind Control’ Before Calling It Fake
We Are Change
Here’s why you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss mind control as nothing you need to think about…

This article is going to be hard for some people to accept. Depending on what level of awareness you currently have and how far you have ventured into the rabbit-hole, some of the information presented thus forward may be overwhelming and/or frightening. Some of the claims made may make you skeptical of the truth, depending on your perception of reality.
Before we jump into the realization that covert elements of the United States Central Intelligence Agency and its black budget apparatus have been using military mind control technology to implement false-flag terror attacks on the American people as part of a larger geopolitical agenda, let’s first ask ourselves if these type of  technologies could even exist?
In my research, I found that early work on mind control goes back almost 100 years with the discovery of electroencephalography (known as EEG) by German psychiatrist Hans Berger, who made the first EEG recordings in 1924, and was the first to report on the rise and fall of alpha and beta waves in the human brain.
By 1969, a researcher named Eberhard Fetz had connected a single neuron in a monkey’s brain to a dial the animal could see. The monkey learned to make the neuron fire faster to move the dial in order to get a reward, and while Fetz didn’t realize it at the time, he had created the first brain-machine interface.
30 years ago, physiologists began recording from neurons in animals, and discovered that while the entire motor cortex lights up with electrical signals when an animal moves, a single neuron tends to fire fastest in connection with certain movements. If you record signals from a certain number of neurons, you can get a rough idea of the motion that a person is making or intends to make.
Researchers then developed algorithms to reconstruct movements form motor cortex neurons, and by the 1980s Apostolos Georgopoulos found a relationship between the electrical response of single neurons and the direction in which they moved their arms.  Since the mid-1990s, researchers have been able to capture complex motor cortex signals recorded from groups of neurons, and have used them to control electronic devices, building brain-computer interfaces that enable what would be called “mind controlled technology” today.
There are dozens of American patients on MCT, Lowery, Oliver M. Appl. No. 458339  filed Dec. 28, 1989. U.S. Patent #5,159,703, Oct. 27, 1992 Silent Subliminal Presentation System, this will be a notable example as this article continues. A good deal of  support for the existence in MCT can be traced back to an often cited 1994 government report that made mention of futuristic systems that could “electronically scramble or erase” people’s minds through TV broadcasts.  It was co-written by Dr. Steven Metz—then an associate research professor of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Studies Institute; where he is now the director (He later claimed that report was a joke).
If you are interested in overcoming disbelief, if you don’t understand the white papers, or don’t trust the information here, I would highly advise everyone to look no further than Dr. Judy Wall’s article “Aerial Mind-Control The Threat to Civil Liberties.” It was published in the newsletter of the MENSA Bioelectromagnetics Special Interest Group. Take a look at the CIA’s declassified Project MK ULTRA program, or read over the 2014 Huff post article entitled “Mind Control Is Becoming Reality“.
“We need a program of psycho-surgery and political control of our society. The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated…The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective…Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electrically control the brain. Some day armies and generals will be controlled by electrical stimulation of the brain.”  Dr. Jose Delgado (MKULTRA experimenter who demonstrated a radio- controlled bull on CNN in 1985) Director of Neuropsychiatry, Yale University Medical School Congressional Record No. 26, Vol. 118, February 24, 1974

These images demonstrate Dr. Delgado’s ruthless disregard for animal’s lives, pain, and suffering!
“these weapons are more dangerous then atomic destruction,” Dr.Delgado reportedly said. “We may transform, we may shape, direct and robotize man. I think the great danger of the future is that we will have robotized human beings who are not aware that they have been robotized.”
“Recently researchers from the University of Washington showed that they could send one person’s thoughts through a computer to control the hand motion of a person sitting half a mile away. The team first demonstrated this brain-to-brain connection was possible back in August 2013. But now the researchers have put the technology through more rigorous testing and are close to making it usable in real-world scenarios.” ~ Live Science November 11, 2014
At this point, there should be absolutely no denying that there are countless methods of mind-control and multiple projects and sub-projects historically and currently in operation.  Reports from numerous different sources indicate that mind control technology does exist.
One of the most powerful ways to shape the collective consciousness of the people at a basic fundamental level is to control the population’s main sources of information. It is very clear that many mass media outlets in the U.S. are both willingly and unwittingly aiding and abetting the manipulation of our minds by the government, and are assisting in carrying out its social-engineering agendas.
Moreover, very carefully designed programs and tactics have been used against nearly every segment of our society; disseminated throughout the nation and the world by mass media and entertainment industries, corporations; embedded in advertising and all other forms of so-called entertainment such as movies, TV shows, video games, and music.
These systems were perfected, applied to the brainwashing and conditioning of members of the U.S. military, and turned over to the intelligence sectors for other applications. The intelligence sector, in turn, DELIBERATELY and successfully worked to have this same kind of HIGHLY destructive and effective conditioning applied to SOCIETY AS A WHOLE, via the mass conditioning of our consciousness through the entertainment and information industries.
Our society as a whole has been forced to confront and WITNESS young people perpetrating inconceivably horrific mass murders of peers and others on a REGULAR BASIS, as in the case in the present-day United States. This creates what is called in geo-social control rhetoric as a “strategy of tension.”
As a result, the population has developed an analogous psychological temperament akin to collective Stockholm’s syndrome. First published in 1994, author Dee Graham uses the Stockholm syndrome label to describe group or collective responses to trauma. To some extent it develops a dissonant split personality/multiple personality disorder in people making them susceptible to sheepish behavior, apathy, fear and other trance-induced emotions.
In essence, the CIA is using advanced mind-control techniques on the American people to make them easier to control. Some of the countries involved in such programs include the U.S., UK, Spain, Germany and France.
Most government-backed electronic mind control programs are classified at the highest level, but recently, the National Security Agency reportedly developed an efficient method of controlling the human brain. This technology is called Remote Neural Monitoring (RNM) and is expected to revolutionize crime detection and investigation.
RNM has been developed after about 50 years of neuro-electromagnetic involuntary human experimentation, and according to many scientists, it’s expected that with a microchip implanted in the human brain, it could potentially make them inherently controllable. (Remember the man that was controlling a bull live on CNN in the 1980s)
Jared Loughne of the 2011 shooting spree that reportedly killed six people and wounded 13, including congressman Gabrielle Giffords, filed a lawsuit claiming he was “framed” and was “handpicked illegally to be a sleeper assassin.”  He even said that the government “put a chip in my head to control my mind.”
In 2012, 24-year-old James Holmes entered a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado and reportedly opened fire at a showing of Batman “The Dark Knight Rises,” leaving 12 people dead and 58 injured. Holmes had several family ties to U.S. government-funded research centers. He was also was one of six recipients of a National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Training Grant at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, and was intimately involved in mind control experiments.
More than a month before the Washington Navy Yard  shooting on Aug. 7, 2013, Aaron Alexis reported to police that he was being stalked by unidentified individuals who followed him to three different motels. He said these individuals were using some sort of “microwave machine” to send voices into his body and they were keeping him awake at night. It is interesting and potentially relevant that Alexis refused to tell police what the voices were instructing him to do. [A copy of the redacted police report can be found here].
The Baton Rouge Gunman Gavin Long, a former marine with a rich digital footprint, said in online posts and videos that he was being targeted by “a vast government conspiracy that watches and harasses everyday Americans.”  He complained that he couldn’t sleep because he was “hearing voices.”
In March 2016, a man that police say shot and killed six people in Kalamazoo, Mich., told officers that he was being controlled by the Uber app on his phone at the time of the rampage.  When a police officer asked the Uber driver Jason Brian Dalton about the shooting, he told them that when he opened the company’s app, a symbol appeared that “would literally take over your whole body,” an officer wrote in his police report.
The latest mass shooting suspect, Esteban Santiago, who allegedly killed five people at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, on Jan. 6, reportedly walked into the Anchorage FBI Field Office in November 2016 to report that his mind was being controlled by a U.S. intelligence agency, according to a senior federal law enforcement official. He said that he “didn’t want to hurt anyone” and that he felt he was “being forced to work for ISIS.” Santiago told the FBI that he thought he was being mind-controlled, possibly by the CIA, and admitted to hearing voices. Santiago said those voices told him to “watch extremist materials on the Internet.”
Is the picture becoming clear ?
Just a few years ago, I too would have scoffed at the mere mention that these mass shooting events were anything but tragedies at the hands of sick and mentally-ill psychopaths. Granted, there are some sick and twisted people out there who need help, and who do kill others. If we were to confine our investigation to one shooting at a time, it’s unlikely that we would ever find a correlation. But looking at these events collectively, a pattern seems to emerge beyond the confines of the individual events themselves.
If we look back into history, even as far back as the shooting death of Robert F. Kennedy, might we be seeing something more to the story of these random shooting events? Is it possible that there are agendas at play, and programs at work behind the scenes to which we are not privy?
Is it possible for rogue, criminal elements inside of the U.S. government to target the minds of certain individuals through electronic means to engage in certain behavior, including killing others? Before dismissing this possibility as some conspiracy theory unworthy of further consideration, take the time to research.
This CIA activity was further verified in the August 2010 publication of Time Magazine, not exactly considered to be a fringe publication. A list of “Top Ten Weird Government Secrets” was published with “mind control” being number two on the list.
Within that article, it is stated that “some historians argue that the goal of the program was to create a mind control system by which the CIA could program people to conduct assassinations.” Is it possible that we’ve been watching this play out in different venues, for different reasons? For today’s purposes, for gun control or perhaps to condition the population to accept tighter “security” measures?
Before you laugh and dismiss the above paragraphs, realize what they are saying. This is the exact same thing we see in all of these cases.
As extraordinarily disturbing events that have such monumental impacts on society, these shootings serve only the malignant, demonic agendas of the Fed/Gov/NWO social controllers, who formulate these terrible mass killings as part of black budget classified social engineering programs. These incidents themselves act as a means to further condition, manipulate and control the United States population, and indeed, the world at large.
